Principal's Message
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! A sincere thank you to our custodial, maintenance, technology, office, and support staff for getting everything ready for a great start. At Selkirk, we are honored to learn and work on the shared and unceded territories of the Ktunaxa People and the land chosen as home by the Métis Peoples of BC. We remain committed to our core values through the Circle of Courage—fostering belonging, generosity, mastery, and independence. We’re excited to welcome new international students from around the world. If you’re interested in becoming a homestay family, please contact Barbara del Pino (barbara.delpino@sd6.bc.ca). A special welcome as well to our Grade 8 students from McKim and all students new to Selkirk and Kimberley. We hope to see you at our Open House on Tuesday, September 22. Newsletters will be shared monthly (except January and April), with winter and spring updates sent in early February and May. These include highlights, photos, and important school information. Families are also encouraged to follow us on Instagram and visit our website for staff contact information. Please don’t hesitate to stay in touch with your child’s teachers throughout the year. If your child is interested in a yearbook, the time to purchase is NOW. Student fees need to be paid in order to purchase a yearbook. Student fees are $20, yearbooks are optional and $50 for a $70 total. Payment can be made through School Cash Online or see Gwen Zanini in the office to pay by cash or cheque. Deadline Oct 30th

Rocky Mountain International Student Program Welcomes New Students This Fall The Rocky Mountain International Student Program (RMISP) is thrilled to welcome 30 international students to Selkirk this September. Students will be arriving from Germany, Spain, Mexico, Denmark, France, Australia, and Japan, bringing diverse cultures, perspectives, and experiences to our school and community. To kick off the school year, students will participate in several exciting activities, including a rafting adventure, program orientation, and a buddy lunch with Canadian students. These experiences help foster friendships, ease the transition into a new environment, and create a strong sense of belonging from day one. RMISP is also seeking additional host families for both short-term and long-term placements. Hosting an international student is a rewarding opportunity to share your culture, learn about another, and build lifelong connections.
