Haggerty Peace Concert On Friday, Dec. 16th, the Haggerty community gathered in the gym to hear a beautiful concert of students' voices. Students in grades JK-4th and the Haggerty Chorus performed. The show finished with a a beautiful rendition of the song This Land is Your Land by the Chorus and the second grade. It was amazing! Mx Irvin announced that in response to a petition from the students, a second grade chorus would begin in January. Thanks to our music teachers Mx. Irvin and Lilly Ahn! Thank you to Friends of Haggerty for the pre-concert coffee and treats, and the Haggerty chorus t-shirts!
Lantern-Making Fun! On Tuesday, Dec. 20th, we had a fun evening lantern-making event for Haggerty families. It's the time of year when we have the least light, so we made our own! Thanks for Friends of Haggerty for the Pizza and the supplies! Some of us braved the cold, and lit up the playground.
Tis the Season for your Sprouts to Return to Classrooms CitySprouts has enjoyed an amazing fall with students out in their gardens! This month, students planted tulip and garlic bulbs along with seedlings in protective hoop houses so we can extend our growing season through the winter. We hope you had the opportunity to experience first hand the beauty your student/s helped create and maintain. As the leaves fall and our summer crops fade away, we put our gardens to bed for the winter. Naturally, this time of year brings less opportunity for students to engage with the natural world, which is why our garden educators are eagerly gearing up to bring the outside world into your classrooms! Looking forward, we encourage you and your family members to sign up for our volunteer list so we can focus our collective efforts on making your garden a welcoming community space. To stay up to date on everything happening at CitySprouts, check out our blog and follow us on Facebook/Instagram/LinkedIn.
