5th Graders Visit Nature's Classroom Our fifth grade students and staff went to Nature’s Classroom in Groton, MA on Thursday, March 16th and returned Friday March 17th. The trip was initially two nights, but a snow storm Tuesday into Wednesday shortened the trip by one night. It was slightly shorter but no less fun! The students had a blast. I am going to let them report out themselves, hopefully in the next edition of the Holler! I just wanted to share a few photos and thank the entire Haggerty Community for their support of this 5th grade adventure, as well as Friends of Haggerty! Stay tuned for more details from our 5th graders about this amazing experience.
Library Corner Third and fourth grade students have begun reading the nominees for The Cook Prize, a children’s choice award for STEM books. We have been discussing the types and qualities of nonfiction books as the students consider the options. Ask your student which is their favorite so far! Happy Reading! Amanda Bock abock@cpsd.us
Music Corner
Hi JK and Kindergarten families! The Kindergarten Music Packet for March was released on Parent Square on March 22. You can also see it here. Please check it out for songs that your children can teach you and you can sing together at home. As always, please be in touch with any questions or feedback. Thank you! Mx. Resources Food, Nutrition & Gardening Wishing you health and happiness this Ramadan and beyond. The Annual Cambridge Community Iftar is being held on March 29th and is open to all. National Nutrition Month continues – have you tried a new food item yet? How about learning about a new food? Many who celebrate Ramadan will break their fast with dates during the evening meal (iftar). I came across a page that does a lovely job of educating us on the role the delicious date holds in this tradition, and it's a great time to learn something new! Be sure to send in your healthy eating, active living, or youth mental health Mini-Grant application before April 4. If you need help with ideas, direction, or answering questions on the form, please let me know, I’ll help! Mind, Movement & More War Memorial Recreation Center opened up registration for spring classes this past Monday, March 20th for residents, and today (March 22) for non-residents. Programming for children and youth includes swim classes, karate, and gymnastics. Spring offerings for adults include swimming classes, Iaido, Middle Eastern Dance, and Zumba. Cambridge residents can register for spring classes beginning Monday, March 20 at 5PM. Non-residents can register for spring classes on Wednesday, March 22 beginning at 5PM. Find It Cambridge is a great resource for finding activities in the city, like this one– MIT Open Space at 342 Main Street is hosting another mid-day Lunch Break, this time with complimentary soup and performances by music and art students, from 12:15 - 1PM tomorrow (March 23).
