Last Call for T Shirt Orders! Haggerty Rainbow Club is excited to announce our T shirt sale - just in time to celebrate Pride Month! Two incredibly talented 5th grade members of the Rainbow Club designed these shirts with the purpose of creating a safe and inclusive environment for our LGBTQ+ students and staff at Haggerty. Their goal was to make the LGBTQ+ community feel acknowledged, supported, and celebrated. Rainbow Club members also wanted to raise money to help LGBTQ+ folks, so we are donating $5 from every T-shirt sale to the Trevor Project. T Shirts are $25 and can be purchased by filling out this Google Form and submitting payment. Orders and payment are due by May 31st! Thank you for your support!
5th Graders Win Equity Collaborative Award! The Haggerty Rainbow Club was recently awarded a grant from the Equity Collaborative to increase LGBTQIA+ visibility at the Haggerty School. Sae and Sophie, two of our fabulous fifth graders, presented at the Equity Collaborative celebration on May 23 to share our new t-shirts with the Cambridge community. They were the only elementary students to apply and we are so proud of them for their leadership!

Haggerty Staff Appreciation Luncheon on June 7th! Wednesday, June 7th (Early Release Day) | 12:15 - 1:15PM Every spring, families celebrate the teachers and staff who make the Haggerty School a wonderful place to grow and learn by sending in food for them to enjoy as a staff luncheon together. It's typically the early release day in June - this year June 7th. If you are able, could you send in some food (grades divided by food category), or maybe lend a hand? This is just if you are able. Here's the breakdown of food by grade (this is just a suggested guide). Families with children in Kindergarten: side dish or appetizer Families with children in Grades 1: dessert Families with children in Grades 2, 3 and 4: salad or main dish Families with children in Grades 5: main dish ...or feel free to bring a family favorite not on this list. This is a SAVE THE DATE; I will send home a flyer to sign to send in food. I just wanted to put it on the calendar! More to come!
Resources Food, Nutrition, & Gardening NAEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, understands how hard it can be to convince children to eat certain foods. This handout has some great tips to try or to share. One tip includes having children involved in growing the food if possible– if you have a garden, it is a good time to move indoor seedlings outside and children can help with this task! Food for Free School Market provides free, fresh produce and non-perishable items at the CCSC Cafeteria at 255 Bent Street, on the last Tuesday of each month from 3:45-5PM. The market is also available on the second Wednesday of the month at the FMA Broadway entrance from 1:45-3PM. Additionally on the second Wednesday of the month, the market visits K-Lo at 158 Spring Street from 2-4PM. Mind, Movement, & More The 2023 Spring Community Bike Ride will celebrate key landmarks in Cambridge's internet and neural network history, following portions of the bicycle network to show what the City's newest network will bring. The ride will be leisurely and is put on by the Cambridge Bicycle Committee with support from the Community Development Department, the Police Department, and the Department of Public Works. Meet at the Main Library on Saturday, May 30th, from 9-12PM. The Cambridge Office of Early Childhood has partnered with Fisher College to offer the Summer 2023 Early Childhood College Scholarship Program. 20 scholarships are available for the Summer term for current early childhood educators to take ONE online college course free of charge (see attached flyer for offerings). Applications close on May 26, 2023 and accepted students will be notified after June 9, 2023. AARP is providing seniors with a 20 minute guided meditation on Tuesday, May 30th from noon to 12:30PM.
