Hello Dellwood Friends, We’ve all heard the saying a million times (read with inflection of thick Minnesota accent): “By the time the 4th’s over, summer’s half done!” Friends, I’m going to forge ahead, ignore that old Minnesota adage, and be grateful that some of the best summer fun at Dellwood is still ahead. July is a busy month for all, but it’s full of some special DCC offerings you’re definitely going to want to squeeze in. Here are my hot tips for the best July fun at the club: ·Summer Soireé on July 9: I had a bit of a fit when the last wine tasting event fell on Women’s Golf Night, so our amazing Food & Beverage and Events Teams are making up for it big-time by offering this Tuesday event featuring summer sippers, salads and light bites on the deck (weather permitting). ·Solheim Cup on July 11 & 12: Calling all women golfers…and I do mean all (high, mediocre and low handicappers). This team event is a Thursday evening and Friday morning of some of the most fun you’ll have on the course all season. ·Live Music on the Patio on July 12 & 26: What an amazing added value of being a DCC member! Live music outdoors is Minnesota summer at its best. ·Pool Sittin’ & Margarita Sippin’ from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. every day. Need I say more? Enjoy the sunshine, and have a safe and happy 4th of July! Yours in bad golf, Brienna

We are officially in full gear at Dellwood! Eric has the golf course in great condition for all of our golfers, whether they are looking to enjoy a casual day on the links or are playing competitively in one of our Club events. We continue to see great participation in our golf events carried out by Clayton and his team, and continue to hear rave reviews by those receiving golf instruction by Cory, or from one of the Pro's who assist in our vast Junior Golf Programs. Lindsay has the Pool + Lazy River well-managed, taking great care of our Cabana Parties and showing up to Swim Meets around town with the most organized and prepared Swim Club team in the Metro! Peg is having a blast entertaining and instructing our Pickle Ball players on our four new Pickle Ball courts. Katie and Sarah continue to blow everyone away with their execution of events, ranging from special occasion 6-person dinners to large corporate events and weddings in the ballroom. Brita, along with James & Shannon (see Brita's column with an intro to Shannon!), are staying busy with their team as we're seeing our bar and grill turn out its highest volume as far back as we can find for the Club's history. They are joined by Amanda who has helped put out a new cocktail menu for the summer. Chef Peter is putting together something new all the time to keep everyone's attention on what's coming out of the kitchen next - from grill outs and Luau's to new Weekly Specials. As I jump from one area to the next, both in this paragraph and physically on a day-to-day basis, Michelle keeps all things buttoned up on the backend to ensure every Member and their guests enjoy our Club to its fullest. It's a great time to be a part of Dellwood!

We have plenty in store over the next month or so as we push foward with our DCC Summer Live Music Series. To best serve all those in attendance, we will be requesting reservations in advance. As always these reservations can be made in the App through our Events Registration tab. Our 3rd annual Dellwood CC x River Valley Charities Pro-Am is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug 7. Dellwood CC established a partnership with River Valley Charities in 2022 for this tournament, supporting our local WBL Area Food Shelf. This unique event allows for both men and women to register as a single or in a group of 3, to be paired with a local PGA Club Professional and their guest, to play in a 3 Net of 5 format. Limited spots remain! Please register through the Events tab in the Foretees Golf App, or simply sign up in the Golf Shop. Cost is $225 for Members, and $250 for guests. Registration includes light appetizers prior to play, dinner to follow, along with a tee gift and payouts. All proceeds benefit River Valley Charities and the White Bear Lake Area Food Shelf. Interested in sponsoring a hole? Only a few remain! Cost is $500 and is tax deductible. Please contact Clayton Johnson or Dellwood Member and RVC Board Member Ron Linneman.Thank you all for your commitment to Dellwood, and hope to see you all enjoying the Club this month!
Lastly, I must remind you all of an amazing tradition here at Dellwood known as our Employee Scholarship Program. This program is made available to all Dellwood employees who have worked at least 120 hours this season, and are either actively enrolled in school or have tuition they are paying off. All contributions made by Members are voluntary, and every employee that submits their application along with their essay receives a Scholarship from the Club, in the form of a payment made directly from the Club to their University to be applied directly towards their tuition balance. Please consider contributing towards this great cause. Our staff works very hard to provide the incredible environment we all enjoy, and this contribution adds a lot of value to their job and strongly supports a stronger employee retention. Contributions can be made conveniently through a form by clicking HERE.
How is it July already? Is it just me or is the summer flying by? We haven’t been blessed with the best weather per say, although I’m sure Eric is loving the free irrigation we’re getting from Mother Earth!. We hope you all have been enjoying the handful of beautiful days we have had and appreciate whenever you spend them with us at the club! We have a handful of awesome member events lined up for July, including another wine tasting event! I am so glad we have had good attendance for these types of events in the past so we decided to put another one on the calendar for you all! On Tuesday, July 9th, beginning at 6pm, we will kick off our Summer Soiree event in conjunction with Moet/Hennessy! This is a division of wine and spirits products with well-known names I’m sure many of you have heard of, such as – Moet + Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Krug, Belvedere, and Hennessy. We will be featuring six wines from their portfolio as well as small bites and salads from our talented culinary team. Join us for this event by signing up on the Foretees app! Another addition is our new Food + Beverage Manager, Shannon Heaney! She started at the end of June and is ready to jump in to summer! Shannon grew up in Stillwater, MN and is very familiar with the area. She has previous experience working at Minnesota Valley Country Club as well as well known Twin Cities restaurants, Edina Grill and Highland Grill. We are excited for her to join our team and round off our Food + Beverage department. I am lucky enough to have her and James assist me in creating the best experiences for our membership all season long. Please give a warm welcome to her when you see her! Cheers!

Summer is here and we are ready to celebrate in the culinary department! Here are the top 3 food related reasons to be at the club this summer: 1.Our new summer menu was launched in the grill and members are loving it all, but especially the Chicken Tinga Bowl & Birria Beef Bowl….so fresh and delicious! Chef Peter’s personal favorite is the Duroc pork tenderloin topped with a summer peach & bourbon glaze on the dinner menu. 2.Wednesday nights grilling on the Patio. All summer long we will be firing up the grill to take advantage of dinning on the DCC patio. I think that we can all agree it’s quite a relaxing spot to eat some prime BBQ and relax for a prime sunset view. 3.Live music on the patio Summer 2024 will be paired with a lovely BBQ & Summer Salads Buffet option this season. On the evenings of live music on the patio, our culinary team will be serving a buffet option that will be a little different each time, but all on theme with BBQ & summer salads. Veggie salads, fruit salads, summer salads of all kinds! Buffet starts at 5:30pm those evenings and will be located on the patio. In addition to these exciting culinary happenings, we have also been busy preparing and executing two of our signature summer golf events: The Boxcar member/member tournament, and our largest tournament of the season, the Black & Gold member/guest tournament. Two events that enable the culinary team to stretch their culinary skills, talents and ideas to full potential leaving our members in awe, completely satisfied, but also wanting more! We hope to see you at the club soon. Let’s eat!

Summer is finally here and our maintenance schedule is full swing. This is Minnesota so we have to start this out with talking about the weather. Last year for the month of June we had just under 1” of rain compared to this June which so far has totaled over 8.5” of rainfall! We are currently seeing our longest stretch of rainless days at (5). Last year we used just under 7 million gallons of water in the month of June and combined for all of this year we have used less than 13 thousand gallons of water! You can’t get much more of a contrast in seasons so far. When you consider this the course has really handled the moisture quite well. Yes, we have been cart path only more than usual but the sanding of fairways has definitely been a game changer. Our fairways consistently offer a better playing and driving surface than our rough. The sand creates larger pore space for the water to go verses the peat soils. This is why our progression of letting carts go will start with path only, then fairways and paths and then removing restrictions on the entire course. Most of this past month has been spent juggling our maintenance schedule around all the rain events. Our schedule usually has us mowing greens every day and tees, fairways, Intermediates and rough getting mowed Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We have had to move some of our Friday mowings to Thursday due to rain but through the use of growth regulators and the milder than normal temperatures we have been able to maintain playing conditions throughout the weekend. In spite of all the rain last month we were able to make a much needed repair to one of our culvert systems on hole #12. With the help of Arnt Construction we completed the work in a day and were able to immediately put the system back in use. We are now able to keep water in the pond and retain its normal water level, restoring the beauty of this water feature. See you on the course, Eric
