Ongoing Opportunities AM Fitness Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:45-6:30am (ongoing) Online Instr: Cassie McKenzie FEE: $45/10-class punch card (good for 3 months) or $5/class This bootcamp-style class includes circuit training and Tabata workouts using body weight and dumbbells. Each class will include a mix of cardio, strength training, and core exercises. All exercises can be modified from high to low intensity to accommodate all fitness levels. The class will end with a 5-minute ab/core workout. You will need an exercise mat, light free weights, and a water bottle. A Google Meet link will be sent after registration is complete. A class recording will be available if you are unable to attend the live class. Unicycle Riding 6 Mondays - Sept. 8-Oct. 27 from 6-8pm Frederic Elementary Instr: Frances Curran FEE: $10 Unicycling is a great individual or family sport. It’s fun, challenging, and unique! Learn the basics, including sitting, balance, and patience. The goal will be to ride across the gym and to perfect your skills. Unicycles will be provided for each participant. All ages 10+ welcome. No class Sept. 22 and Oct. 20. Medicare 101 Thursday - Sept. 18 at 6:30pm Frederic HS Instr: Rich Potvin FREE Learn answers to the following questions: How and when do I sign up for Medicare? Should I consider delaying enrollment in Part A and Part B? Do I have to sign up if I am still working? Can I still make HSA Contributions? What are the ABCD’s of Medicare? African Violets A-Z Tuesday - Sept. 23 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Pat Mattson FEE: $5 Explore the fascinating history of the African violet while learning essential care techniques and propagation methods. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced gardener, you'll receive valuable tips to help your plant bloom and thrive year-round. Each participant will receive handouts, a copy of the National African Violet Magazine, and an African violet starter plant. Discover the joy of nurturing this cherished plant, which can be a wonderful addition to your home! Hydrangea Grapevine Wreath Thursday - Sept. 25 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Sheila Beecroft FEE: $25 Create a handcrafted grapevine wreath by preparing the vines and weaving them into your desired size (up to 16" - larger sizes depend on vine availability). Once the wreath is formed, decorate it with an assortment of dried hydrangea flowers and finish it off with neutral-colored satin or chiffon ribbon. Babysitting 101 3 Mondays - Sept. 29-Oct. 13 from 3:30-5pm Frederic Elementary Instr: Lisa Jensen FEE: $10 Roots and Branches Community Childcare Center is offering a class for 3rd-7th graders to learn about babysitting. The class covers Business, Character, Marketing, Engaging Kids, First Aid, Emergencies, Safety, and Common Problems. Participants will receive a Babysitting 101 checklist and a course completion certificate. Adult Pickleball Lessons Tuesday - Sept. 30 from 6-8pm Frederic Elementa ry Instr: Jim Cook FEE: $20 This class is designed for new pickleball players. Learn about the necessary equipment, rules, and techniques to begin your pickleball journey. Equipment will be provided. All ages can play this fast-growing sport. Join the movement! Class size is limited to 8. Pretty Pumpkin Decor Thursday - Oct. 2 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Sheila Beecroft FEE: $25 Craft two faux pumpkins by adorning them with vibrant botanicals, then showcase them with your indoor fall decor. PANSY PUMPKINS: Decorate an 8” pumpkin using a variety of colorful dried pansies and other greenery. DRIED FLOWER-TOPPED PUMPKINS: Adorn a 3-4” pumpkin with dried flowers in various colors and textures. After registration, you will have the option to choose from white, blue, and orange pumpkins, with colors available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Enjoy your time amongst interesting and creative people! Folded Book Vase Bouquet Tuesday - Oct. 7 at 6pm Rose’s Garden Instr: Rose Houtari FEE: $25 Calling all book & flower lovers! Create a fluted vase with an upcycled hardcover book. Then design a fall-themed bouquet with artificial flowers to add to your vase. This is a fun, easy, and elegant project that will become a welcome addition to your fall decor. Blacksmithing Demo Thursday - Oct. 9 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Dion Grethen FEE: $15/household Dion has been a blacksmith and bladesmith for over 20 years. During his demonstration, he will showcase some basic skills used in metal forging while creating a useful plant hanger. He will demonstrate techniques such as upsetting, drawing, punching, twisting, and scrolling. These skills enable a smith to forge a variety of useful items. One participant will go home with the plant hanger (one drawing entry per household)! Facebook Fundamentals for Small Business Thursday - Oct. 16 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Kassie Dalsveen FEE: $10 Ready to make Facebook work for your business—without the overwhelm? Join Kassie Dalsveen of North of Eight Design & Marketing for a hands-on, jargon-free workshop designed specifically for small business owners who wear all the hats. This class is ideal for individuals who are currently managing an active Facebook business page and want to maximize their effectiveness on the platform. In this class, you will learn the following: Overview of AI, Brief history of AI development, Types of AI-Narrow & General, How AI is used today (healthcare, finance, household assistants), Social media & content creation, Machine learning basics, Data, Neural networks, Deep learning, Overview of AI tools, Future trends and AI resources, and an AI demo.

No experience is necessary - just a jolly spirit and a love for crafting. Laughter is guaranteed. All supplies will be included. Let’s make something ‘woolly-wonderful’! Wreaths / Porch Pots Thursday - Nov. 20 at 6pm Rose’s Garden Instr: Rose Houtari FEE: $10 class fee (+ materials you choose) Learn how to make a wreath or porch pot. WREATH: Make a 24” wreath with balsam pine boughs (or choose a pre-made wreath), then decorate it to show your style! Choose from ribbons, pine cones, and fun holiday décor . PORCH POT: Create a porch pot with fresh winter greens, then decorate it to accent your home. Bring your favorite pot or purchase one on-site. Christmas Cards Tuesday - Dec. 2 from 6-9pm Frederic HS Instr: Tammy Henderson FEE: $28 Do you want to send something special to your loved ones this holiday season? Why not a beautiful handmade card? In this class, you will use stamps, ink, and embellishments to create 10 gorgeous cards (two each of five designs). The cards will range from elegant to fun, offering a variety of sentiments to choose from. Wool Christmas Tree & Wreath Ornaments Thursday - Dec. 4 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Barb Kass FEE: $15 Felted wool sweaters are great for creating slippers and mittens, and the scraps from these projects are ideal for making miniature Christmas trees and wreaths. In this class, we will cut concentric circles to form the trees and squares for the wreaths. This is a quick and easy project, and you will be able to complete both, possibly with a few extras! Christmas Cookie Make & Take Saturday - Dec. 6 from 9:30am-1pm Frederic HS Coordinators: Jackie Kurkowski & Sheila Beecroft FEE: $30 Fill your Christmas cookie trays the easy way! Make approximately 9 kinds of traditional Christmas cookies (bake & no-bake). Divide them up (approx. 1 dozen per type) to take home and enjoy throughout the Christmas season. Goose Egg Ornament Tuesday - Dec. 9 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Pam Schaber FEE: $20 Learn how Pam prepares farm-fresh goose eggs for crafting. Then paint a primitive-style design on an egg to create a beautiful Christmas ornament! This class is suitable for all skill levels - ages 12+. Learn about the Viking Fitness Center's membership options available to community members and take a tour through the variety of fitness equipment, including a stair stepper, treadmills, rowing machines, bikes, free weights (such as dumbbells), full squat racks, benches, chest and leg press machines, boxes for box jumps, and other plyometric equipment.

Chinese Cooking Tuesday - Oct. 21 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Peter Kwong FEE: $30 ($10 for children under 12) Both beginners and seasoned cooks will enjoy creating and tasting new, exotic entrées in this class. The menu will include Pot Stickers (dumplings) served with dipping sauces, Cantonese Egg Foo Young, Hot and Sour Soup, and General Tso's Chicken. Learn how easy and simple it is to create these delicious dishes for your friends and family! Dementia 101 Wednesday - Oct. 29 at 1-2:30pm Frederic Sr. Community Center Instr: Mackenzie Gustafson FREE ADRC Dementia Care Specialist Mackenzie Gustafson will provide an introduction to dementia, helping participants gain a better understanding of the illness. A Q&A time will follow the presentation. Fall Foraged Finds Wreath Thursday - Oct. 30 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Sheila Beecroft FEE: $20 Create an 8-inch wreath in a boho, rustic farmhouse, or minimalist style using a variety of neutral-colored fall foraged plants/seed pods. Add a pop of color with dried flowers if you choose. This wall hanging will be a simple, yet beautiful decoration for years to come, and you can easily modify it with your own foraged finds as the seasons change. Intro to Google Suite Tuesday - Nov. 4 from 6-8pm Frederic HS Instr: Mike Henderson FEE: $20 This introduction will guide you through the three most commonly used tools in the Google Office Suite: Gmail, Docs, and Sheets. You'll learn how to effectively use each of these applications, along with exploring additional functions available through the Google browser. While computers will be provided at the school, you are welcome to bring your laptop for a more personalized experience. Thai Cooking 102 Thursday - Nov. 6 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Lek Kremer FEE: $25 ($10 for children under 12) Fall is a wonderful time of year for flavorful Thai stir-fried noodles with green vegetables. In Thailand, this popular dish is known as Pad See Ew. Discover how to customize this dish by substituting different proteins or vegetables while maintaining an authentic sweet, savory, and slightly sour flavor profile. Also, learn how to make fresh spring rolls! Join Lek for an evening of fun and learning that you can recreate in your own kitchen! Dance Fitness 6 Mondays - Nov. 10-Dec. 15 from 6:15-7pm Frederic Elementary Instr: Cassie McKenzie FEE: $35 (or $8 per class) Get a full-body workout with routines (set to music) that offer cardio, strength training, and core strength exercises. No dance experience is needed! Each routine includes 3-4 aerobic exercises with repeating intervals throughout the song. Bring an exercise mat, light free weights, and a water bottle. Thursday - Nov. 13 at 6pm Frederic HS Instr: Greg Lund FEE: $15 A Scandinavian tradition is making lefse for the Thanksgiving & Christmas holidays. Greg will share his no-fail recipe along with techniques on how to make this delicious treat. You’ll also sample lefse at the class and take some home! If you have any lefse-making equipment (grill, stick, pastry board with cloth, rolling pin, potato ricer), please bring it.
