July 7-9, 2026 17th Annual Nantucket Garden Festival
Nantucket Garden Festival supports Nantucket Lighthouse School's innovative curriculum and the use of gardening as a time-honored educational tool. Founded in 2009 by the late Connie Q. Umberger, the Festival attracts over 500 participants each year including New England's most active and enthusiastic gardeners and designers. Your attendance supports the Nantucket Lighthouse School's horticulture program and the Head, Heart, and Hands Scholarship Fund.
From July 7-9, you can experience three full days of workshops, lectures, and personalized tours of the island’s most premiere and alluring gardens, plus hands-on family activities. The Nantucket Garden Festival highlights the unique and beautiful garden ecosystems on Nantucket, with a focus on the importance of sustainability, conservation, and gardening ethics for the long-term health of the island. Nantucket Lighthouse School’s educational garden and greenhouse provide students with a living laboratory and a deeper connection to the natural world. Advised by the late Russell, Morash, Chair of Childhood Horticulture at Nantucket Lighthouse School, our weekly horticulture classes allow children to grow, experiment, observe, and learn—while also teaching them how to care for the environment.
