30. izdanje Sarajevo Film Festivala nastavlja ispunjavati osnovni koncept našeg festivala – prikazati najkvalitetnije filmove i serije našoj publici i biti platforma za razvoj regionalne kinematografije.
Dobro došli na 30. Sarajevo Film Festival
Festivalski program uključuje preko 250 filmova iz cijelog svijeta, od čega 57 premijerno prikazanih filmova iz naše regije u četiri selekcije takmičarskih programa koji čine da Sarajevo Film Festival i ove godine bude mjesto gdje najšira publika, kao i filmska struka i kritika, mogu dobiti punu sliku filmske umjetnosti u Jugoistočnoj Evropi, Ukrajini i Južnom Kavkazu danas. Ove regije su istovremeno i u žiži i na margini svjetske pažnje, a selekcija filmova na ovogodišnjem Festivalu pruža jedinstvenu priliku za dublje razumijevanje različitih nijansi individualnih kao i kolektivnih iskustava s ove geopolitičke, ali i umjetničke margine, a koje često nedostaju u sklapanju kompleksne slike današnjice. Uz to, retrospektiva filmova Elije Suleimana u programu “Posvećeno”, kao i programi “Doha Film Institute predstavlja” i “Suočavanje s prošlošću”, na sličan način bave se uzrocima i posljedicama nasilja, okupacije, raseljavanja u Palestini, Izraelu i drugdje na Bliskom Istoku i ostatku svijeta, što upotpunjava sliku ovogodišnjeg programa kao okrenutog dubljem promišljanju aktuelnih događaja. Naše iskustvo u proteklih 30 godina jeste da je refleksija na najteža vremena putem dijaloga i umjetnosti neophodna ako želimo da mir prevlada. To je budućnost koju želimo da gradimo. Predstojeće izdanje Sarajevo Film Festivala donosi mnogo novina. Za svoju tridesetogodišnjicu Festival uspostavlja nove lokacije u gradu. Marindvor se otvara kao novi centar festivalskog okupljanja. Poslovni program CineLink dani filmske industrije ove se godine seli u konferencijski centar Swissotela Sarajevo, u čijoj neposrednoj blizini će biti smještena potpuno nova lokacija “Festivalska bašta”, mjesto susreta festivalskih gostiju. U blizini su i partnerski hotel Holiday i partnerska kina Cineplexx Sarajevo, uz koje se za ovogodišnje izdanje Festivala uspostavlja posve novo kino “Ljetno kino Centar”. Ulica Franca Lehara, između Cineplexxa Sarajevo i “Ljetnog kina Centar”, pretvara se u pješačku zonu sa posebnim programom događanja za sve posjetitelje. Amfiteatar poslovnih zgrada Unitic koristit će se kao kinosala za poslovne projekcije još nezavršenih filmova. Kroz ove promjene Festival doprinosi urbanoj regeneraciji u svim dijelovima grada u kojima se održava. Donoseći nove kulturne sadržaje u ovaj dio grada koji je već poslovni, politički i komercijalni centar, Festival stvara novi kulturni centar grada i istinski centar Bosne i Hercegovine. Film otvaranja je “Nakon ljeta” bh. oskarovca Danisa Tanovića koji se prikazuje van konkurencije za nagrade, budući da je Festival učestvovao u njegovoj produkciji. Javna predavanja u programu Masterclass održat će kultni autori i glumci Elia Suleiman, John Turturro, Meg Ryan, te oskarovci Cord Jefferson i Alexander Payne. CineLink dani filmske industrije, Talents Sarajevo, Nagrade Srce Sarajeva za TV-serije, konferencijski program, pretpremijere i premijere regionalnih i domaćih filmova i serija, te brojni svjetski naslovi koje će publika imati priliku pogledati u kinima širom Sarajeva, ali i u Tuzli i Mostaru, te u cijeloj BiH putem VoD platforme festivala, sigurni smo da će i ovogodišnji Sarajevo Film Festival učiniti jedinstvenim praznikom filmske i televizijske umjetnosti za cijeli grad, državu i region. Welcome to the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival
The 30th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival remains faithful to the event’s guiding concept of presenting films and television series of the highest quality to our audiences, and being a platform for the development of film production in our region.
The festival will screen more than 250 films from around the world, including 57 from our region that will have their premieres in four competition sections. This makes the festival the best place for a broad audience, as well as film professionals and critics, to gain full insight into the current state of film production in Southeast Europe, the Southern Caucasus, and Ukraine. These regions are simultaneously in the centre and on the fringes of the world’s attention and the selection of films in this 2024 edition of the Festival offers a unique opportunity to gain deeper understanding of the nuances of personal and collective experiences from these geopolitical and artistic margins, which are often neglected when it comes to putting together the complex puzzle of our global reality. A retrospective of the films of Elia Suleiman in our Tribute to programme, as well as our Doha Film Institute Presents and Dealing With the Past sections, similarly focus on the causes and consequences of violence, occupation, and displacement in Palestine, Israel, and elsewhere, in the Middle East and the world at large, contributing further to this year’s line-up’s search for a deeper understanding of current affairs. Thirty years of experience have shown us that reflecting on the most difficult of times through dialogue and art is necessary if we want peace to prevail. That is the future we want to build. This edition of the Festival introduces many novelties. For this 30th anniversary, there are new locations in town, with the Marindvor neighbourhood emerging as a new central gathering point. The business segment of our CineLink Film Industry Days moves this year into the conference centre of Swissotel Sarajevo, which is located in the vicinity of the Festival Garden—a brand-new gathering place for Festival guests. Also nearby are our partner hotel, the Holiday, and our partner cinemas, Cineplexx Sarajevo, as well as a new screening venue, the Open Air Cinema Centar. Franca Lehara Street, between Cineplexx Sarajevo and the Open Air Cinema Centar, will be transformed into a pedestrian zone hosting a special programme of events for all our visitors. Finally, the amphitheatre of the Unitic Business Centre is where works-in-progress will be screened for film professionals. With these changes and additions, the festival contributes to urban regeneration in the parts of the city where it is taking place. By bringing new cultural content to this part of Sarajevo, which is already the city’s business, political, and commercial centre, the Festival is creating a new cultural centre, and the true centre of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Festival kick offs with MY LATE SUMMER by Academy Award-winning Bosnian director Danis Tanović. The film is being presented out of competition due to the Festival’s involvement in its production. This year's masterclass programme include lectures by iconic film authors and actors Elia Suleiman, John Turturro, Meg Ryan, and Oscar® winners Cord Jefferson and Alexander Payne. We are confident that CineLink Industry Days, Talents Sarajevo, the Heart of Sarajevo Awards for television series, a programme of conferences, avant-premieres and premieres of national and regional films and drama series, and the many films from around the world slated to be presented in cinemas throughout Sarajevo, as well as in Mostar and Tuzla and via the Festival’s VoD platform, will make this edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival a unique celebration of film and television art four our city, our country, and the surrounding region. Dan prije svečanog otvorenja 30. Sarajevo Film Festivala, u četvrtak je u Ljetnom kinu Coca-Cola, u saradnji s Filmskim centrom Sarajevo i Udruženjem filmskih radnika BiH, prikazan film „Kuduz“ In Memoriam Abdulahu Sidranu (1944-2024). Ulaz na projekciju je, kao poklon publici, bio besplatan.
Rođen u Sarajevu 1944., akademik Abdulah Sidran iza sebe je ostavio opus neprocjenjive vrijednosti. Prva književna djela objavio je početkom sedamdesetih, dok se na filmu kao scenarist pojavljuje 1979. Tokom osamdesetih profilirao se kao jedan od najtraženijih scenarista u Jugoslaviji, a jedan od njegovih vrhunaca svakako je scenarij za film „Kuduz“. „Imao sam privilegiju da živim u Sidranovom vremenu. Večeras su ovdje mnogi, njegova familija, prijatelji i saradnici kroz koje i dalje živi i koji ga i dalje vole. Večeras su sa nama mnogi koje je svojim talentom okupio u filmu kojeg ćemo ponovo gledati“, rekao je prije početka projekcije reditelj filma Ademir Kenović. Radnja ove tragične ljubavne priče odvija se u sumornim predgrađima. Badema, lijepa lokalna zavodnica, upoznaje Bećira Kuduza koji je tek oslobođen iz zatvora. Ni njihova razlika u godinama niti činjenica da Badema ima kćerku čiji je otac nepoznat ne mogu ih spriječiti da budu zajedno. Međutim, njihova životna očekivanja potpuno su različita. Dok Kuduz sanja da pokrene građevinsku firmu, Badema želi raditi u lokalnom bistrou gdje nikada nije dosadno. Film je inspirisan životnom pričom Junuza Keče. U filmu, za koji scenarij uz Sidrana potpisuje i reditelj Ademir Kenović, glavne uloge imaju Slobodan Ćustić i Snežana Bogdanović, dok se uz njih pojavljuju i Božo Bunjevac, Branko Đurić, Ivana Legin te Mustafa Nadarević. Te 1989. film je bio nominiran za Evropsku filmsku nagradu u kategoriji Mladi film, a na Pulskom filmskom festivalu nagrađen je Velikom srebrnom Arenom. Sub-headings

The screening, organised in collaboration with the Sarajevo Film Center and the Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was offered to the public free of charge. Born in Sarajevo in 1944, Academician Abdulah Sidran left behind a body of work of immeasurable value. He published his first literary works in the early 1970s and made his debut as a screenwriter in 1979. During the 1980s, Sidran established himself as one of the most sought-after screenwriters in Yugoslavia, with the script for Kuduz standing as one of the pinnacles of his career. "I had the privilege of living in Sidran's time. Many people are here tonight, his family, friends and co-workers through whom he continues to live and who still love him. Tonight, many people are with us whom he brought together with his talent in a film that we will watch again", said the director of the film, Ademir Kenović, before the start of the screening. The plot of this tragic love story unfolds in the bleak suburbs. Badema, a beautiful local temptress, meets Bećir Kuduz, who has just been released from prison. Despite their age difference and the fact that Badema has a daughter with an unknown father, nothing can keep them apart. However, their life aspirations are completely different. While Kuduz dreams of starting a construction company, Badema desires to work at the local bistro, where life is never dull. The film is inspired by the true story of Junuz Kečo. The film, with a screenplay co-written by Sidran and director Ademir Kenović, stars Slobodan Ćustić and Snežana Bogdanović in the leading roles, alongside performances by Božo Bunjevac, Branko Đurić, Ivana Legin, and Mustafa Nadarević. In 1989, the film was nominated for the European Film Award in the Young Film category and received the Grand Silver Arena at the Pula Film Festival.
Nakon više od deset filmova i TV serija, postoji li kod vas i dalje trema kada svjetsku premijeru novog filma imate u Sarajevu? Malo. Ali davno sam naučio da ne postoje formule u umjetnosti i da će svaki film koji ima dobru priču i koji je zanatski dobro urađen naći svoju publiku. Nekome će se svidjeti, nekome ne. Jedino što ja mogu da uradim je da ga napravim najbolje što mogu i to činim svaki put. Ostalo ne mogu kontrolisati. Samo se radujem toj prvoj projekciji jer mi je to najdraže kino na svijetu. Što vas je privuklo priči o nezakonitoj kćeri koja nakon očeve smrti dolazi na mali dalmatinski otok po svoje nasljeđe? Ne postoji samo jedna stvar koja me privuče u neki projekat, ali mislim da je glavna i uvijek na prvom mjestu sama priča. A ova je duhovita, emotivna i nepredvidiva. Uživao sam čitajući scenarij i to je jedini parametar koji je bitan. Osim toga, zanimljivo je raditi na tekstu koji nije originalno moj, koji moram da tako kažem savladati. Originalni scenarij je, s Nikolom Kuprešaninom, napisala glavna glumica Anja Matković, koja je i u vašem prethodnom filmu „10 u pola“ imala zapaženu ulogu. Kako je došlo do ponovne zajedničke suradnje, ali i koliko je i vama i njoj pomoglo to što je u toj filmskoj priči od prvoga slova na papiru? Anja je napisala prvu ruku scenarija, pa ju je pokazala Nikoli kojem se priča jako dopala. Onda su zajedno radili na sljedećoj verziji i poslali mi je da pročitam. Meni se dopala i kada su mi predložili da je režiram, ja sam odmah pristao. Ja jednostavno volim raditi sa njih dvoje. Oboje su divni ljudi i vrsni profesionalci. Nasljeđe, obiteljsko i društveno, važna je tema filma „Nakon ljeta“, a u stvarnom životu česti je uzrok brojnih svađa i napetosti. Zašto ste odlučili rješavanje pitanje nasljeđa prikazati na drugačiji, smireni način? Nasljeđe jeste jedna od tema, ali mislim da je ono što je mene privuklo toj priči odrastanje glavnog lika koja je puna predrasuda prema vlastitoj majci, a onda doživi skoro pa istu stvar i shvati majčin izbor. Koliko sam puta rekao nikada, a onda se zadesim u situaciji u kojoj shvatim da nikada ne postoji… U središtu je priče, iako se nikada ne pojavljuje, kapetan duge plovidbe te posljedice koje je na obitelj ostavio svojim postupcima. Koliko čovjek treba pri životnim odlukama misliti na druge? Pa trebao bi. Ali znate i sami da to nije uvijek lako niti moguće. I ne slažem se da je kapetan u središtu priče. Ovo je Majina priča, priča o njenom odrastanju i pronalasku same sebe. Kapetan je tek inicijalna kapisla. Koliko je život filmskog redatelja usporediv sa životom kapetana duge plovidbe? Uz odgovornost upravljanja brodskom posadom/filmskom ekipom, obje profesije karakteriziraju određeni periodi odvojenosti od obitelji, ali i mirnija razdoblja kada ste kod kuće bez klasičnog „od 9 do 5“ posla. Nisam baš u detalje upućen u živote kapetana duge plovidbe, ali je istina da reditelji često izbivaju po nekoliko mjeseci iz kuće. Ali onda to nadoknade jer kad su kući, mogu da se posvete porodici sto posto, što rijetko koja profesija dozvoljava. Ja sam zadnjih nekoliko godina skoro stalno u Sarajevu i tu snimam tako da više skoro ni ne odlazim od kuće. Mislim da sam se umorio od života u koferima i prija mi je biti ovdje, u Sarajevu. Snimanje na Prviću je trajalo dva mjeseca i to je skoro jedini put da sam u zadnjih pet godina toliko dugo izbivao iz Sarajeva. Kakav je osjećaj kada uz vas na setu kćeri – asistentica kamere Dania i skladateljica Livina? Dania studira produkciju i režiju u Berlinu i mislim da joj je ovo bilo sjajno iskustvo. Ipak su studentski setovi puni improvizacija. Ovdje je imala priliku da vidi kako to izgleda raditi u ozbiljnoj filmskoj ekipi. Livina nije bila na setu, njen dio posla dolazi tek poslije, u postprodukciji. Mislim da joj nije bilo lako jer sam ja klavirista od malih nogu i ako i ne znam šta želim, znam šta ne želim. Malo smo se tražili u početku, ali na kraju je uradila odličan posao i nadam se da ćemo imati prilike da radimo ponovo zajedno. Koliko je logistički bilo izazovno snimati na pitoresknom, ali ipak pomalo izoliranom otoku Prvić? To je pitanje za producente. Znam da im nije bilo lako, preuzeli su na sebe veliki rizik jer smo radili film sa pola potrebnog budžeta, ali mislim da se to na kraju ne vidi zahvaljujući njihovoj predanosti, odličnoj organizaciji i zaista sjajnoj ekipi koja je dala sve od sebe da napravimo dobar film. Što je vama i snimatelju Milošu Jačimoviću bio najveći izazov u rekreiranju atmosfere „malog dalmatinskog mista“? Da ne napravimo kič razglednicu jer je sve toliko lijepo da se čovjek lako izgubi u snimanju zalazaka sunca. To je jedan od razloga što smo većinu scena snimili kao kadar sekvencu. Želio sam da pratim glumce i njihovu priču, sve ostalo je manje bitno. Koliko bi se ova priča razlikovala u sarajevskom, zagrebačkom ili pariškom okruženju? Ne znam da li bi bila moguća. Ova priča funkcioniše zato što se dešava u malom mjestu, na otoku. U Parizu bi naprosto bila nemoguća. Film je prožet emocijama. Što vam je osobno bilo najteže snimati – ljubavnu, humorističnu ili scenu sukoba? Nemam neke preference, ali kroz moje iskustvo znam da su scene humora najteže za snimiti. Naći tačan omjer, ne pretjerati, to su stvari koje su najteže za postići. Koliko ima filmova koji pretenduju da su komedije, a ustvari vam je malo muka što ih gledate. Nema ništa gore nego scena koja treba da je smješna, a nije. Na festivalu će biti pretpremijerno prikazana epizoda iz nove sezone hvaljene kriminalističke serije „Kotlina“. Kako je bilo u istom razdoblju raditi na dva prilično različita projekta? Meni je to normalno. Svaki film i svaka serija koji radim je drugačija od prethodnih. Sadržaj diktira formu i kako se svaki put bavim nečim drugim, nekom drugom temom, a često i podnebljem, tako i sve izgleda drugačije. Mislim da se najviše bojim upasti u manirizam jer mislim da je to kraj za svakog ozbiljnog umjetnika. Dok god se traži najtačniji izraz za ono što se predstavlja, ima nade. Uostalom zar nije dosadno praviti filmove i serije koje izgledaju kao one koje smo radili prije. Kada već pričamo o nasljeđu, iza vas je izrazito bogati opus. Po čemu biste najviše voljeli da vas pamte? Po mojim budućim filmovima i serijama, onima koje tek treba da snimim. Josip Jurčić

Čast da otvori 30. Sarajevo Film Festival pripala je Danisu Tanoviću. Domaći reditelj koji je još 2001. trijumfirao na festivalu sa debitantskim filmom „Ničija zemlja“, a zatim se sa svojim filmovima uvijek vraćao sarajevskoj publici, ovaj put predstavlja komičnu dramu „Nakon ljeta“ o mladoj ženi koja dolazi na udaljeni otok kako bi riješila pitanje obiteljskog nasljedstva

Coming Back to My Favorite Cinema in the World
With more than ten films and TV series under your belt, do you still get nervous when your new film premieres in Sarajevo? A little. But I learned a long time ago that there are no formulas in art. Every film with a good story, made with craftsmanship, will find its audience. Some will like it, some won’t. The only thing I can do is make it the best I can, and I do that every time. The rest is out of my control. I’m just looking forward to that first screening because it’s in my favorite cinema in the world. What drew you to the story of an illegitimate daughter who arrives on a small Dalmatian island to claim her inheritance after her father’s death? There isn’t just one thing that draws me to a project, but I think the story itself is always the primary attraction. This one is humorous, emotional, and unpredictable. I enjoyed reading the script, and that’s the only parameter that matters. Besides, it’s interesting to work on a script that isn’t originally mine, something I have to, so to speak, master. The original script, alongside Nikola Kuprešanin, was written by the lead actress, Anja Matković, who also had a prominent role in your previous film Not So Friendly Neighborhood Affair. How did this collaboration come about again, and how did it benefit both you and her that she was involved from the very beginning? Anja wrote the first draft of the script and showed it to Nikola, who really liked it. They worked together on the next version and sent it to me to read. I liked it, and when they proposed that I direct it, I immediately agreed. I simply enjoy working with the two of them. They’re both wonderful people and highly skilled professionals. Inheritance, both familial and societal, is a central theme in My Late Summer. In real life, it often causes numerous disputes and tensions. Why did you choose to portray the resolution of inheritance issues in a different, more peaceful manner? Inheritance is indeed one of the themes, but what attracted me to this story is the growth of the main character, who starts with many prejudices against her own mother and then experiences something similar herself, leading to an understanding of her mother’s choices. How many times have I said "never," only to find myself in a situation where I realize that "never" doesn’t exist? At the heart of the story, though he never appears on screen, is a sea captain whose actions have left lasting consequences on his family. How much should a person consider others when making life decisions? They should, but as we all know, that’s not always easy or possible. And I disagree that the captain is at the center of the story. This is Maja’s story, about her growth and self-discovery. The captain is just the spark that sets things in motion. How comparable is the life of a film director to that of a long-haul sea captain? Both professions involve a certain responsibility for managing a crew and periods of separation from family, but also quieter times at home without a typical 9-to-5 job. I’m not very familiar with the details of a long-haul sea captain’s life, but it’s true that directors often spend several months away from home. However, we make up for it when we’re home because we can devote ourselves entirely to our families, which few other professions allow. For the past few years, I’ve been almost constantly in Sarajevo, shooting here, so I hardly ever leave home anymore. I think I’ve grown tired of living out of a suitcase, and I enjoy being here in Sarajevo. Filming on Prvić lasted two months, and that’s probably the only time in the past five years that I’ve been away from Sarajevo for so long. What’s it like to have your daughters, Dania, a camera assistant, and Livina, a composer, with you on set? Dania is studying production and directing in Berlin, and I think this was a great experience for her. Student sets are often full of improvisations, but here she had the chance to see what it’s like to work on a professional film crew. Livina wasn’t on set; her work comes later, in post-production. I think it wasn’t easy for her because I’ve been playing the piano since I was a child, and even if I don’t know exactly what I want, I know what I don’t want. We had to find common ground at the beginning, but in the end, she did an excellent job, and I hope we’ll have the chance to work together again. How challenging was it logistically to film on the picturesque but somewhat isolated island of Prvić? That’s a question for the producers. I know it wasn’t easy for them; they took on a big risk because we made the film with only half of the necessary budget, but I think that thanks to their dedication, excellent organization, and a fantastic crew that gave their all, it doesn’t show in the final product. What was the biggest challenge for you and cinematographer Miloš Jaćimović in recreating the atmosphere of a "small Dalmatian town"? Not making it look like a kitschy postcard because everything is so beautiful that it’s easy to get lost in shooting sunsets. That’s one reason we shot most of the scenes in sequence shots. I wanted to follow the actors and their story; everything else is less important. How different would this story be if it were set in Sarajevo, Zagreb, or Paris? I’m not sure it would even be possible. This story works because it’s set in a small town on an island. In Paris, it simply wouldn’t work. The film is full of emotions. What was the most challenging scene for you to shoot—romantic, comedic, or conflict? I don’t have a particular preference, but from my experience, I know that humor scenes are the hardest to shoot. Finding the right balance, not overdoing it, these are the toughest things to achieve. There are so many films that claim to be comedies, but you feel a bit nauseous watching them. There’s nothing worse than a scene that’s supposed to be funny but isn’t. The festival will also feature a sneak peek of an episode from the new season of the acclaimed crime series The Hollow. What was it like working on two quite different projects simultaneously? For me, it’s normal. Every film and every series I work on is different from the last. The content dictates the form, and since each time I’m dealing with something new, a different theme, and often a different setting, everything looks different. I think my biggest fear is falling into mannerism because I believe that’s the end for any serious artist. As long as you’re searching for the most accurate expression for what you’re presenting, there’s hope. Besides, isn’t it boring to make films and series that look like the ones you’ve already done? Speaking of legacies, you have a remarkably rich body of work. How would you most like to be remembered? By my future films and series, the ones I have yet to make. Josip Jurčić
Danis Tanović was honored with the task of opening the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival. The acclaimed Bosnian director, who first triumphed at the festival in 2001 with his debut film No Man's Land and has since returned with various films to the Sarajevo audience, is now presenting My Late Summer - a comedic drama about a young woman who travels to a remote island to settle a family inheritance issue.

Svake godine Sarajevo Film Festival vođenje ceremonije otvaranja povjeri povjerava uspješnim regionalnim filmskim umjetnicima mlađe generacije. Ove je godine čast da vodi svečanost otvaranja jubilarnog 30. izdanja Sarajevo Film Festivala pripala glumici Maji Izetbegović.
„Imala sam sreću i privilegiju da odrastam uz Sarajevo Film Festival koji je na najljepši mogući način odredio putanju mog profesionalnog izbora. Danas on za mene predstavlja prostor slobode i inspiracije za vlastiti kreativni rast. Razlog zbog čega najviše volim Sarajevo za vrijeme Festivala je što u tim danima dolaze do izražaja vrijednosti koje volim živjeti u svom gradu. To su umjetnost, sloboda i kozmopolitizam“, izjavila je Izetbegović. Bh. glumica Maja Izetbegović živi i radi u Sarajevu. Diplomirala je na Akademiji scenskih umjetnosti u Sarajevu 2008. godine i ostvarila uspješnu karijeru i na filmu i u teatru u Bosni i Hercegovini i regiji. Poznata je po ulogama u igranim filmovima među kojima su „Naša svakodnevna priča“, „Sin“, „Ekskurzija“ i „Hotel Pula“, kao i u mnogim kratkim filmovima. Film „Ekskurzija“ premijerno je prikazan na filmskom festivalu u Locarnu, gdje je osvojio Posebno priznanje. Glumila je i u TV serijama, među kojima su „Znam kako dišeš“ i „Frust“. Kao članica Kamernog teatra 55 utjelovila je širok spektar uloga. Igrala je u više od 40 kazališnih predstava, među kojima su „Nora“, „Antigona“, „Osramoćeni“, „Kavkaski krug kredom“, „Ivanov“, „Sumnja“, „Malograđanska svadba“, „Elijahova stolica“ i mnoge druge. Za izvedbe u kazališnim predstavama i filmovima osvojila je brojne nagrade.

Every year, the Sarajevo Film Festival entrusts the opening ceremony to successful regional film artists of the younger generation. This year, the honor of leading the opening ceremony of the 30th anniversary edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival at the Sarajevo National Theatre was given to actress Maja Izetbegović.
"I was lucky and privileged to grow up with the Sarajevo Film Festival, which determined the path of my professional life in the most beautiful way possible. Today, it represents a space of freedom and inspiration for my own creative growth. The reason why I love Sarajevo the most during the festival is that in those days, the values that I love to live in my city come to the fore. These values are art, freedom and cosmopolitanism", Izetbegović said. Maja Izetbegović is a Bosnian actress living and working in Sarajevo. A graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo in 2008, she has built a distinguished career in both theatre and film across Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. Izetbegović is known for her roles in feature films such as Our Everyday Life, Son, Excursion, and Hotel Pula, as well as many short films. Notably, Excursion premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, winning a Special Mention. She has also appeared in TV shows such as I Know Your Soul and Frust. A member of Chamber Theatre 55, Maja has embodied a wide array of roles. She has played over 40 theatre roles, some of which include Nora, Antigone, Disgraced, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Ivanov, Doubt, A Respectable Wedding, Elijah's Chair, and many others. She has received numerous awards for her performances in both theatre plays and films.

Suleiman je bio gost 25. Sarajevo Film Festivala (2019.) kada je u programu Open Air prikazan njegov film „To mora biti raj“ koji je osvojio posebno priznanje žirija iste godine u Cannesu, predsjednik žirija 22. Sarajevo Film Festivala (2016.) te gost 19. Sarajevo Film Festivala (2013.). „Čast nam je odati priznanje iznimnom autoru i prijatelju Sarajevo Film Festivala, koji univerzalnim jezikom filma govori o temeljnim ljudskim vrijednostima i emocijama: strahu i nadi, domu i domovini. Njegov prvi dugometražni film „Chronicle of a Disappearance“ osvojio je nagradu za najbolji prvi film na filmskom festivalu u Veneciji 1996. godine. The 30th Sarajevo Film Festival will pay tribute to Palestinian director Elia Suleiman in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the art of film. The acclaimed filmmaker will be presented with the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award and honoured with a retrospective of his selected works in the Festival’s “Tribute to” Programme.
Suleiman was a guest at the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival (2019), where his film "It Must Be Heaven" was screened in the Open Air programme. The film had received the Special Jury Mention at Cannes the same year. He also served as the President of the Jury at the 22nd Sarajevo Film Festival (2016) and was a guest at the 19th Sarajevo Film Festival (2013). “It is our privilege to pay tribute to the esteemed author and friend of the Sarajevo Film Festival, whose universal language of cinema speaks to fundamental human values and emotions: fear and hope, home and homeland. With his trademark wit, humour and profound insight, he navigates the complexities of our existence, shedding light on the absurdities of life with unmatched clarity and poignancy, portraying the spirit and identity of Palestine with a unique authorial style. Born in 1960 in Nazareth, Elia Suleiman lived in New York from 1981 to 1993. While in the United States, he directed his first two short films: “Introduction to the End of an Argument” and “Homage by Assassination”, winning numerous awards. In 1994, he settled down in Jerusalem, where the European Commission had entrusted him with the mission of creating a Film and Media Department at Birzeit University. His first feature film, “Chronicle of a Disappearance”, won the Best First Film Prize at the 1996 Venice Film Festival. In 2002, “Divine Intervention” won the Jury Prize and the FIPRESCI International Critics Prize of the Cannes Film Festival as well as the Best Foreign Film Prize at the European Awards in Rome. In 2007, he was chosen as one of the 35 directors of “To Each His Own Cinema”, a collective film for the Cannes Film Festival 60th anniversary. His feature film “The Time That Remains” was in the official competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009. In 2012, he completed a short film titled “Diary of a Beginner,” part of a collective feature titled “7 Days in Havana”. CICAE AWARD The International Confederation of Art Cinemas (CICAE) awards a film from the Competition Programme - Feature Film. The awarded film will receive CICAE support in terms of distribution, exhibition, and audience outreach, through a network of 3.000 cinemas. CINEUROPA PRIZE The prize is awarded by the Cineuropa portal, the site dedicated to the European cinema and film professionals, and is given to a film that besides having indisputable artistic qualities also promotes the idea of European dialogue and integration. The value of this award is 5.000 €.

U cilju podizanja svijesti o klimatskim promjenama, Sarajevo Film Festival ove godine uvodi novu nagradu: Posebnu nagradu za ekološku osviještenost, u partnerstvu sa Razvojnim programom Ujedinjenih nacija u BiH.
Posebnom nagradom za ekološku osviještenost Sarajevo Film Festival daje svoj doprinos podizanju svijesti o značaju zaštite životne sredine, u okviru svojih aktivnosti i nastojanja da bude ekološki odgovoran festival te predvodnik pozitivnih promjena i praksi u oblasti održivosti. Za Posebnu nagradu za ekološku osviještenost konkuriraju filmovi iz svih festivalskih programa koji se bave pitanjima životne sredine i doprinose podizanju svijesti i održivijoj budućnosti. Na ovogodišnjem 30. Sarajevo Film Festivalu, u konkurenciji za posebnu nagradu za ekološku osviještenost sedam je filmova iz devet programa. Filmovi koji konkuriraju za nagradu bit će prikazani u sljedećim programima: Takmičarski program – igrani film, Takmičarski program – kratki film, Takmičarski program - studentski film, Kinoscope, Evropski kratki film, Mreža festivala Jadranske regije, TeenArena, Dan ljudskih prava i Bh. filmski program. With Special Environmental Awareness Award, Sarajevo Film Festival contributes to raising awareness on the importance of environmental protection, as part of its activities and efforts to be an environmentally responsible festival and a leader of positive changes and practices in the field of sustainability. Films from all Festival programmes dealing with environmental issues and contributing to raising awareness and a more sustainable future are competing for Special Environmental Awareness Award. At this year's 30th Sarajevo Film Festival, seven films from nine programmes are in competition for the Special Environmental Awareness Award. The films competing for the award will be screened in the following programmes: Competition Programme – Feature Film, Competition Programme – Short Film, Competition Programme - Student Film, Kinoscope, European Short Film, Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region, TeenArena, Human Rights Day and BH Film Programme. Special Environmental Awareness Award will be presented at the official award ceremony of the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival, on August 23. Introducing Special Environmental Awareness Award
In order to raise climate change awareness, the Sarajevo Film Festival is introducing a new award this year: the Special Environmental Awareness Award, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program in BiH.

Coca-Cola, kao neizostavni partner Festivala, nastavlja tradiciju podrške očuvanju okoliša i održivosti te kroz projekat "Recikliraj me. Pokloni mi novi život" poziva građane da idemo zajedno ka izgradnji svijest o reciklaži i smanjenju otpada, potičući ekološki odgovorno ponašanje. Sarajevo Film Festival and Coca-Cola: We Go Together Sarajevo proudly opens its doors for another Festival, and Coca-Cola says "We go together." This year's campaign emphasizes unity and cheerful spirit, highlighting opportunities where Coca-Cola and all of us "go together." Coca-Cola continues its tradition of supporting environmental conservation and sustainability. Through the project "Recycle Me. Give Me a New Life," Coca-Cola invites citizens to go together towards awareness about recycling and waste reduction, promoting environmentally responsible behavior.

This contest is open to all photography enthusiasts, whether you prefer capturing moments with your camera, smartphone, tablet, or any other device. The creator of the best photograph will be awarded an Instax Mini 12 camera, courtesy of UniCredit Bank. We invite you to capture the most beautiful moments of the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival.
