Rebecca Grizzle President CEO
As much as I hate to bid farewell to summer's sunny escapades and outdoor adventures, I can't help but confess that Fall is my absolute favorite! It's a season brimming with cozy clothes, wild windstorms, leaves painting the town in vibrant colors, Halloween's spooktacular delights, and the heartwarming feasts of Thanksgiving. All of these carry a touch of nostalgia that warms my heart. While Fall used to signal the dreaded return to school and mountains of homework (still makes me a little queasy just thinking about it), now, as an adult free from homework woes, I relish stormy evenings with a good book in hand. Lebanon's local retail shops are revving up for the holiday season, so before you click that tempting Amazon shopping cart, it's time to immerse yourself in habit of embracing the local spirit. Grab a friend and head over to Bloom Boutique and Tea House – one of the rare spots where you can shop with a cocktail in hand! Or pay a visit to the ever-helpful Ira at Let it Bead; she's your go-to for unique gifts and all your stocking stuffer needs. Lebanon has never been more prepared to satisfy your food and drink spirit at every turn, which is something you’ll never get online. I can already hear some of you protesting, "It's not even Halloween yet, and we're talking Christmas!" But thinking local is a mindset for all seasons, one we should embrace year-round. Not to mention that there is some fabulous Halloween shopping to be had locally (and if you’re like me, there are plenty of October and November birthdays to think about). Speaking of local heroes, it's time to shine a spotlight on the incredible individuals who make things happen in our community. Nominations are open for the Distinguished Service Awards, happening on February 23rd, 2024. And here's the exciting news – this year, the after-party will be hosted at the enchantingBoulder Falls, and they're offering a limited number of room packages for just $99 for the night, which includes two tickets to the post-DSA gathering in1847. Keep a lookout for the details; these packages will vanish like hotcakes! Lastly, let's give a thunderous round of applause to the amazingMitchell, of Pineway Golf Course fame. He stepped up to help organize a last-minute golf fundraiser, the "Chamber Double Dip" tournament. It might have been small in size, but oh boy, was it colossal in fun (much like our chamber CEO?)! We raised a few bucks, and thanks to our fantastic sponsors likeWillamette Manor, the Gillott Home Team, Citizens Bank, Morley Thomas Law Office, and Furniture Share, we had an array of creative and scrumptious dips to make our day extraordinary. Special kudos toMichelle of Furniture Sharefor her award-winning Brisket Queso Dip – she took home the prize, the "One Spoon to Rule Them All"!
