Our Lost and Found is quickly filling up with jackets, sweaters, and water bottles. If your child is missing an item, please encourage them to check the Lost and Found located at the front entry way by the office. To help lost items find their way home, please remember to label belongings with your child's name and class code. Any unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the quarter to local charities. -Thank you!

You Do Make a Difference
Our kindergartners have started the year with ABC Boot camp, a fun and hands-on way to learn one letter and its sound each day during the first 26 days of school. Along the way, they enjoy exciting activities that help them build early literacy skills. To wrap up this special learning journey, students, together with their families create a letter vest decorated with pictures that match their assigned letter. The celebration ends with our ABC Boot camp Fashion Show, where students proudly parade their vests through the Stewart hallways!

Art Work
Have you noticed the art work in our halls? There is one painting hanging in the main hallway across from music and the multi-purpose room and the other is right outside the library. The art work is from Mr. Donald Ross also known as “Scribe." He has been an artist at the Smoky Hill River Festival for several years now. Mr. Ross has also been the resident artist for Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City for a number of years. He and his wife (she’s also an artist) have created art work at many festivals across the United States. The Smoky Hill River Festival in Salina is one of his favorite festivals and we are so lucky to house Scribe's paintings. Next time you are in our building please check out his art.

Halloween Parade
Students should come to school in costume. Parade begins at 8:40 a.m. Friday, October 31. Parents and guests are welcome. We ask that all parade guests remain outside unless weather conditions are not favorable. If the weather does not allow for an outside parade, students will walk through the hallways and gym. Parents are welcome to line the walls throughout the building. Please have your student wear clothes under the costume or be able to change quickly after the parade with minimal help. Costume guidelines for school: Minimum make-up No weapons...knives, guns, swords, bombs, etc. No fake blood No characters who represent violence, murder for sport, movies rated for adults, etc. (example, Scream Deadpool) If in doubt, trade it out and choose kid-friendly attire Our day is primarily focused on learning. Students will change into school clothes after the parade. A short classroom party will take place during the day. Thank you! We hope you can join us to watch the kids and capture some fun pictures!
