A Note From the Principal
On behalf of the Grade E. Stewart staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2026–27 school year! August always brings an exciting sense of energy and anticipation back to our community. It’s truly one of my favorite times of the year. Before long, we’ll settle into the rhythm of the school year, and our hallways will once again be filled with the enthusiasm and excitement of more than 400 students. Welcome to our Stewart Meet Your Teacher Night on Tuesday, August 11, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for grades 1-5. This is an opportunity to help each child feel more confident and comfortable before the first day of school. When you arrive, you can find each child's classroom, meet the teacher and leave their school supplies. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Kindergarten's Meet Your Teacher Night is scheduled for Monday, August 17, from 4:30-5:00 p.m.

We can't do it without you! Without parents, there is no PTA. You are the heart of our organization and where our best ideas come from! Pitch in, meet the players, make connections. Here at Stewart, PTA provides a great way for parents to be involved, get acquainted and give back! All contributions matter. We have activities going on all year long, and whether you send in a donation, give one hour or 100 hours, all contributions are appreciated, so take a moment to acknowledge that what you do matters! Your child and the school benefit. The PTA fills financial holes and offers real tangible assets for the students and teachers. Your child and his/her classmates will directly benefit from the work you do. Stewart PTA provides funding for field trips, Play Day, Fun Night, Bingo, teacher mini grants, Teacher Appreciation Week, Stewart picnic, student prizes, to name just a few. Our first meeting of the year is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. and we hope you'll consider joining us there to see what it's all about!
As we begin a new school year, healthy routines can help students feel confident, focused and ready to learn. One of the best ways families can support children is by establishing consistent daily habits early in the school year. A regular bedtime is especially important for growing minds and bodies. Elementary-aged children need plenty of sleep each night to help with attention, behavior, memory and learning. Setting a calming bedtime routine and limiting screen time before bed can make mornings much smoother for everyone. Starting the day with a healthy breakfast is another key to success. Nutritious foods such as fruit, whole grains, eggs, yogurt or oatmeal give children the energy they need to stay focused and active throughout the school day. Even a quick breakfast is better than skipping it altogether. Simple routines like packing backpacks the night before, laying out clothes and keeping consistent meal and sleep schedules can reduce stress and help children feel prepared and confident. Together, these healthy habits create a strong foundation for a successful and happy school year!
News from the School Nurse
What an exciting time of year for all of our students and staff. We are excited to be kicking off this new school year and keep growing our minds one day at a time. It is super important that your child gets into a routine these first few weeks of school, including a good bedtime and enough time in the morning to eat breakfast and be ready to learn once they hit the doors of the school. We have lots of exciting things planned and don’t want them to miss out on anything. If your student needs scheduled medication during school hours, I will need a permission for medication form signed by you and your doctor. If you are sending any medication to school for your child, things such as cough drops or Tylenol, I will need you to sign a permission form for this as well. I have medication permission forms in my office, or you can print them off of the USD 305 website. If your student has life threatening health issues, please reach out to me so we can develop a plan of care together. During the months of December, January and February, vision screenings, dental screenings and hearing screenings are completed. If you have any concerns in any of these areas, please contact me and I can evaluate your child and we can partner in providing them the best care. I am so thrilled to be kicking off this new school year together. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead.
