SECONDARY SCHOOL
Every student and staff member at Selkirk will benefit from being part of an open-minded and innovative learning community built upon the pillars of belonging, generosity, mastery and independence.
It’s hard to believe we are already in March and that spring is just around the corner. February was a busy month, highlighted by course selection for next year, athletic tournaments and the conclusion of our winter sports season, Valentine’s Day activities, and Pink Shirt Day. A big thank you goes out to everyone who continues to provide outstanding curricular and extracurricular opportunities for our students. We look forward to sharing photos and highlights from these activities in our next newsletter at the beginning of May. A reminder that the last day of classes before Spring Break is Friday, March 13th, and school will resume on Monday, March 30th. We wish all of you a wonderful March and a refreshing Spring Break! ~ Clint Dolgopol

Belonging
Mr. Ramsdale's Active living class hosted Mrs. Ramsdale's Grade 4 class to do Mission impossible while it was set up in our gym!
Selkirk Music also presents Alice By Heart from April 15-18 at McKim Theatre. The show runs at 7:00 nightly. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the Selkirk School office and The Drift Cafe in Kimberley, and Huckleberry Books in Cranbrook.Alice By Heart is a play-within-a-play, set in 1941 in a London Underground station that has been converted to a bomb shelter. From there, Alice takes everyone back to Wonderland for one last journey through childhood. Alice By Heart is a beautifully-written story about love, loss, growing up, and learning to accept life as it is instead of as we had hoped it might be. Please note that Alice by Heart is rated PG13. Please contact sven.heyde@sd6.bc.ca if you have any questions.

Rocky Mountain International Student Program
Last month, our international students finally got to experience a true Kimberley winter, complete with a memorable trip to Fernie for their second ski and snowboard day. On the administrative side of things, our program team has been hard at work processing new student applications and expanding our roster of host families for the upcoming school year. If you’re interested in hosting—or know someone who might be—please visit www.rminternational.ca/homestay2 to learn more, submit your application, or refer a friend. If you are interested in joining our program, please contact Barbara del Pino, Rocky Mountain International Student Program Homestay Coordinator, at barbara.delpino@sd6.bc.ca or call/text at 250-427-6168.
