Mental Health Matters
PrIMES Leadership is happy to announce the addition of the PrIMES Support Team! We recognize that becoming a doctor can be both rewarding and stressful. Individuals from a variety of backgrounds have come together to form the team and provide support to all PrIMES participants. They offer solutions and connect Mentees & Mentors to resources to solve problems and alleviate stressors.
"When you go to a medical appointment, your doctor may ask you several questions. Have you been getting exercise? Are you sleeping? But rarely do they ask; are you lonely? U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy believes we are suffering from an epidemic of loneliness. In this 2020 conversation with Murthy, Hidden Brain explores the importance of human connection to our physical and mental health, and how we can all strengthen our social ties." ** Advisory - content speaks of sensitive topics such as suicide
"Be prepared not only to discuss your motivation for a career in medicine, but also any activities or experiences that are relevant to your goal, and times you have served others," says one expert.
