Principal's Message
It’s hard to believe that Winter Break is just around the corner! As always, our priority remains creating a safe, caring, and welcoming environment where students can grow as individuals and engage meaningfully in positive learning experiences. I’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our Leadership class and Student Focus Group for organizing a variety of events this past month, including Halloween activities, the Remembrance Day assembly, Funderstorm, and our annual Food Bank Fundraiser. Your energy and commitment to our school community are truly appreciated. A special thank you also goes out to our Fall sports coaches for generously volunteering their time and to all staff members for their ongoing efforts in fostering a school culture rooted in our mission: cultivating belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity. Together, we continue to build an empowered and growth-minded learning community. December may be a short month, but it’s packed with activity! We’re looking forward to continuing our Food Bank Fundraiser and celebrating the season with spirit activities leading up to the break. Our next newsletter will come out at the beginning of February highlighting events from both December and January. Wishing you all a joyful, healthy December and a peaceful holiday season. Take care and stay well! ~ Clint Dolgopol

Mrs. Soles' Science 10 class did a mini CSI challenge and a DNA transcription escape room. It was super fun!
Ms. Pavan's Literary Studies 11 class welcomed Professor Caley Ehnes from the College of the Rockies to explore film and film adaptation. Ahead of the class's film unit, Dr. Ehnes led a pinhole camera photography lesson and challenged students to consider the stories film tells us. Students have been encouraged to take their pinhole camera and place it somewhere for 8 weeks to see a photograph develop! Thanks, Dr. Ehnes!
Our fall sports season has wrapped up, teams have made some amazing accomplishments throughout the season. Our bantam boys volleyball team continued to get better with each tournament and finished the season with a 1st place finish in the Zones Championship. These athletes have such a bright future and will be a force to recon with for years to come. Our bantam girls volleyball had an amazing season, they placed in the top 3 in every tournament and made significant improvements throughout the season. The junior boys and girls volleyball teams competed hard in every tournament. These teams always demonstrated respect, sportsmanship and were a pleasure to coach. The Junior Girls finished in 1st place at the Mt. Baker Invitational and another 1st place in the Golden tournament and came in 2nd place in the zones championship. Amazing job girls!! Our Senior Volleyball teams had tremendous regular seasons with epic hard-fought games. The senior girls had a season for the books. In the zones championship they finished second and were awarded a provincial berth. The girls played hard and had some super close matches against the top teams in the province, they finished in 8th place out of 16 teams. We are super proud of you all! You demonstrated excellent leadership and helped influence the next generation of bump, set, spikers. Our soccer team was competitive all the way to the end. The team had a great time competing in zones in Castllegar building off all the hard work in practice. The coaches had nothing but positive things to say about the team's hard work, sportsmanship and competitive attitude, well done boys! The swim team had 5 amazing athletes show up every morning practice with smiles and positive attitudes. They’re an amazing group, the coach was super impressed with the commitment, respect and skill development throughout the season. Cross country was a huge success with numerous top 10 finishes in each meet. And Rugby 7’s was a dominating force in every game. Thanks so much to all the coaches for putting in such an incredible effort this fall season! Your dedication, time and hard work is greatly appreciated.

Rocky Mountain International Student Program
A warm welcome to our three newest international students from Australia: Aliza, Jack, and Nate! They arrived just in time to join the fun and had the opportunity to kick off their Canadian adventure with an introduction to the sport of curling at the Kimberley Curling Club along with their international friends. Students are currently crossing their fingers for more snow as they get ready for the upcoming ski season. Our next big program trip will be a ski/snowboard day at Fernie Alpine Resort on December 10th! Behind the scenes, our program staff are hard at work processing new student applications. Building our current roster and securing new host families for the next school year is a crucial part in this process. If you've ever considered opening your home to a student, or know someone who might be a great fit, please visit www.rminternational.ca/homestay2 to learn more, fill out an application, or make a referral.
