Kiwanis Club of Arlington
March 17, 2022
After facing delays due to the pandemic, the Kiwanis Club of Arlington was finally able to hold its 63rd Annual Pancake Day on February 26th, 2022. The club served members of the community stacks of delicious pancakes, sausages, and beverages of their choosing. Unlike most years, the club opted out of doing their usual silent auction. This decision allowed members to focus their energy on whipping up delicious food and attending to guests at the event. Members were also able to provide further accommodations to address ongoing concerns left by COVID 19. Accommodations included providing guests with a To-Go option for their pancakes and offering masks and hand sanitizer. The club was able to raise about $31,000. The club is grateful for the contributions made by sponsors and all who attended the event. Due to these contributions, KCA will be able to continue its support of the Arlington community and support children in building a better future.

Division 39 Key Club Lieutenant Governor Trinh Luong recently reached out to the Kiwanis Club of Arlington to invite them to a division-wide council meeting. Originally planned for March 12th, the meeting has been moved to March 28th from 5:30-6:30 pm. Regardless of the date change, KCA members are grateful for the invitation and excited for the event hosted at Inclusion Coffee. Luong, a cherished KCA Key Clubber, has reached out to KCA previously to thank the club for their sponsorship of the 73rd Annual Texas-Oklahoma Leadership Education District Conference. She is eager for the conference and excited to share more information with the club. As the division 39 Key Club LTG, Luong aims to increase communication between different clubs and expand Key Club's outreach. In aiming to do this, Luong is also hosting a district-wide function at River Legacy Park on March 19th. KCA members are heavily encouraged to volunteer and bond with Key Clubbers at the event.

The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation is a Nonprofit organization that supports the Arlington community by providing funds to local programs that meet the needs of the people. This organization has been active for around 15 years in the Arlington community. The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation has supported the Arlington Kiwanis Foundation in previous years - the club is thankful for their continued support. This year the nonprofit organization has granted the Arlington Kiwanis Foundation $10,000 to support the following programs: BUGs, School Supply Squad, and Bikes for Tykes. The BUGS program is well known in AISD schools for encouraging students to exceed expectations. Bikes for Tykes rewards those children through the donation of bicycles. The School Supply Program supports disadvantaged children by directly supplying schools with much-needed school supplies for students. This grant will allow the programs to progress and continue to support the Arlington community.
