CAMP CONFIGURATION As a mobile camp is only set up for your group, the camp is based on your group size and rooming requirements. USING THE LUXURY MOBILE CAMP AS PART OF AN ITINERARY Our Luxury Mobile Camp can be set up at locations of your choice throughout Kenya (see Locations) as either: A single destination. Set up in 2 or 3 locations, stopping at permanent camps or lodges in between, as your camp moves to the next location. Back to back camps – no need to use permanent camps or lodges, simply move from one Luxury Mobile Camp to another. Combine the Luxury Mobile Camp with our Leleshwa Seasonal Camp (June-Oct) in the Ol Derekesi Conservancy or another part of Kenya (Long Stay & Circuit Special Offers will apply).
THE CAMP
LUXURY GUEST TENTS Made from heavy duty rip-stop canvas with insect proof door and window lining Verandah with a table and chairs En-suite bathroom facilities All beds have cotton linen, duvets (comforters) and heavy blankets. A hot water bottle is provided in the evening. Additional furniture includes bedside tables, luggage racks, hanging caddy, canvas shelves, clothes rack Camp layout download BATHROOM Dresser table with in-built sink, warm water dispenser and vanity stool Flushing ceramic toilets Piping hot 'safari' showers delivered at any time. Shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, vanity kit, sewing kit, shower cap LIGHTING AND POWER Solar powered lighting available 24hrs – verandah, bedside tables & overhead in the bedroom, shower, toilet and over the wash table. Hand held solar lanterns 240V charging facilities are available in the main lounge. Lanterns illuminate the paths at night and guests are escorted to and from their tents. DINING AND LOUNGE Dining and Lounge area Breakfast and lunch are served in the dining area or al fresco under the shade of the trees. Picnic breakfast and/or lunch can be served out on game drives. Dinner is served around a large dining table, ‘dining-party style’ in the Dining tent or under the stars. Continental-style cuisine caters to a variety of dietary tastes and requirements. Menus can be agreed with you in advance. Ol Derekesi Conservancy: Available for mobile camps: November until June each year Location: Overlooking the Sand River, adjacent to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, with views over the plains & hills and a short walk to a river A level of freedom and exclusivity that’s rare in the Mara. Unrestricted access to both the Ol Derekesi Conservancy and the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Cross the Sand River into the Mara where you go further afield for a full day with picnic meals. Part of an exclusive group of top-end safari operators using the remote and less visited part of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, between the Sand River and the Tanzania border. The area is usually the first to receive the wildebeest migration (usually in June). Activities: Day and night game drives on Ol Derekesi Conservancy, day game drives in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, guided bush walks, Maasai school, village & market visits, Conservancy project visits, paddling, swimming and fishing in the Sand River. Mara Conservancy (Mara Triangle on the Mara River): Campsites: Kiboko, Dirisha , Olarro, Ndovu Activities: Day game drives within the reserve Ol Pejeta Conservancy: Location 1: Campi Punda - a dense Euclea thicket within the remote 'Wilderness Zone', with lovely views towards Mt Kenya. Location 2: Murera Donga - a secluded stand of trees overlooking a marsh, which attracts wildlife throughout the year. Activities: Day & night game drives within Ol Pejeta Conservancy, bush walks, Endangered Species enclosure, Chimpanzee Sanctuary & 'behind the scenes', tracker dogs, lion tracking, horse riding.
EXCLUSIVE-USE TENTED CAMP LOCATIONS
Aberdares National Park Location 1: Prince Charles - a KWS special campsite set in the thick forests of the Salient. Other Locations: Other special campsites in the Salient include Muringato, Bongo, Nyati, Queen Beatrix, Kiguru and Kifaru. Activities: Day game drives within the park, Moorland walks, Chania Falls hike, fishing. Amboseli - Kitenden Conservancy Location:a stand of Tortilis trees, in the Kitenden elephant corridor, close to the Tanzanian border yet only 30 minutes drive from the park. Activities: Day & night game drives within Kitenden Conservancy, day game drives into Amboseli National Park, bush walks, Likelesi Canyon hike, Maasai village-school-market visits, Moran manyatta visit. Tsavo East National Park Location:Kanderi - 12km from Tsavo East main gate. Location 2: Tiva - various sites in the palm forests along the Tiva River, in the remote section north of the Galana River. Activities: Day game drives within the park, walking safaris permitted in northern wilderness area (Tiva Campsites). Tsavo West National Park Locations:Simba & Royal Little - on the banks of the Nolturesh stream, in the vicinity of Kitani Severin lodge. Activities: Day game drives within the park, Ngulia rhino sanctuary visit, Mzima Springs, Chaimu crater walk, Shetani lava flow & caves visit, Roaring Rocks. Samburu, Buffalo Springs & Shaba National Reserves: Location 1: Isiolo River (Buffalo Springs) - a stand of Doum Palms on the banks of a permanent stream, natural swimming hole close by. Location 2: Funan (Shaba) - acacia trees around a natural spring. Location 3: Bodich (Shaba) - acacia trees overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River, directly below the gorge. Activities: Day game drives within all 3 reserves, swimming in the Buffalo Springs natural waterhole, walking along the gorge and climbing kopjes (Shaba only) Samburu village-school-market visits (outside reserve). Meru National Park: Location 1:Kampi Baridi - along the Murera river, not too far from Murera Gate. Location 2: Rojewero - in riverine forest along the park's largest stream, the Rojewero River Activities: Day game drives, rhino sanctuary visits. Laikipia: Location 1: Suyian - along the rocky ridge line, overlooking the Ewaso Narok river. Location 2:Borana - along the Ngare Ndare River, on the border with Lewa Conservancy (low season only). Location 3: Solio - within the rhinoceros conservancy. Location 4: Loldaigas - views of Mt Kenya & Aberdares. Loction 5: Sera - a community conservancy dedicated to the protection of black rhino. Location 6: Kalama - on the edge of Samburu National Reserve Other Laikipia destinations available on request. Activities - all locations: Day & night game drives and bush walks. Activities - location dependent: Camel and horse riding, ranching activities, mountain biking, lion & rhino tracking, Aberdare and Ngare Ndare Forest Reserve day trips.
