Your Legacy Gift Matters We stand on the shoulders of the faithful who have gone before us. With their talents and treasure they helped Asbury First’s ministry become what it is today. Our lives are richer because of them. Now it is our turn to ensure a bright future for those who will follow us. Let’s all do our part. Join us in leaving a Living Legacy for the generations to come so that...
Legacy Gift Methods There are many ways to make a gift to the Church. Some common examples include: • Bequest in your Will or Trust List your gift as a specific dollar amount or as a percentage of your estate. • Life Insurance Policy Name an endowment as a beneficiary of your policy. • Retirement Accounts (IRAs, 401Ks) Name an endowment as a beneficiary. • Stock or Appreciated Securities Name an endowment as the recipient. • Gifts of Other Types There are many ways to leave a gift to the church (e.g. real estate). What is the Living Legacy Fellowship? The Asbury First Living Legacy Fellowship is a way of saying “Thank You” to those who commit to making a planned gift in their will, trust, or estate plan. Anyone who notifies the church that they have a planned gift, of any amount, designated for the church is a member of this honorary fellowship. Living Legacy Fellowship members will be recognized annually for their contribution to the future of Asbury First, and they will continue to be recognized after death for having made a Legacy Gift. Members who prefer not to be named for their Legacy Gift may request to remain anonymous.
Asbury First Legacy Giving Options A Legacy Gift can be made to the Church in one of three ways: for the General Endowment, for the Restricted Endowment, or for Current Use. • General Endowment A Legacy Gift without a specified use will generate future income for all areas of Asbury First’s ministries. • Restricted Endowment A Legacy Gift for an approved designated area of ministry will generate future income for that area of Asbury First’s work. • Current Use A Legacy Gift specified for current use to support Asbury First’s immediate ministry goals. A list of approved designations is available from the church office.
What is the Living Legacy Program? The Living Legacy Program is an opportunity for us to partner in the ongoing work of Asbury First by including the church in our will, trust, or estate plan. Our legacy gifts will support Asbury First’s ministries after our passing. The Program is championed by the Legacy Team to ensure the future of Asbury First for generations to come. We aim to grow our endowments so that future revenues will also grow and Asbury First's ministry will prosper. God has given all of us gifts to steward in our lifetimes and beyond. It is our hope that everyone will take this opportunity to leave a lasting gift. Each of us has something to give, whether large or small. Every gift counts. Everyone’s legacy matters. How Can I Make a Legacy Gift? You can notify the church of a planned gift by completing a Legacy Gift Enrollment Form. If you do not already have a will or trust, we encourage you to make one. We also recommend you contact a professional for financial, tax, or legal advice. There are several methods by which you can include a legacy gift to the church in your will, trust, or estate plan. For initial guidance, we provide here a summary of gift methods. We have also included a list of the three options available to align your gift with your intentions to support Asbury First's minitries.
