This is the first in our series themed Jehovah - Our Source for Divine Manifestation. The series is aimed at helping us understand God through His names and how He helps us experience His divine manifestation in several ways. Divine manifestation is the visible expression of God’s life at work in and through His people. This first topic is themed Jehovah Jireh. Jehovah Jireh literally means “The LORD will see”, which by implication means “The LORD will provide.” His name Jehovah Jireh expresses out of His being self-existent, all-seeing and all-sufficient. As the “I AM”, He is the One who depends on nothing external. Every redemptive name of God, including Jehovah Jireh, thus flows from this self-existence. As the all-seeing God, Jehovah Jireh does not merely meet needs; He reveals Himself through faith-tested obedience as the Lord who provides. Furthermore, Jehovah Jireh as the all-sufficient God gave Himself to mankind as the ultimate gift in the form of His Son Jesus Christ. Jehovah Jireh enables this in four key ways by: seeing ahead of time; providing His way rather than ours; testing faith before manifestation; and by turning places of fear into altars of testimony. Meditation: Exd. 3:14:-15; Gen. 22:1-14; Rom. 8:32; 2 Cor. 9:8; 1 Kings 17:8–16
Week 2: Jehovah Rapha
This is the second in our series themed Jehovah - Our Source for Divine Manifestation. The series is aimed at helping us understand God through His names and how He helps us experience His divine manifestation in several ways. This topic is themed Jehovah Rapha. Jehovah Rapha is The Lord Who Heals. God reveals Himself as “I AM WHO I AM.” God delivers Israel through the Red Sea demonstrating His power and protection Jesus heals the sick and oppressed, fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy: “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.” Healing is part of God’s character, covenant, and nature (Jehovah Rapha). God’s healing is holistic, addressing every dimension of a person’s life, pointing to ultimate restoration and wholeness. The dimensions of healing includes physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, and relational. However, healing requires faith, obedience trust, humility, perseverance and boldness. To manifest healing means to actively create the conditions where healing can happen. Self-reflection, Forgiveness (of self or others), therapy or guidance, spiritual practices (meditation, prayer) and Changing harmful habits. Meditation: Exd. 3:14:-15; Exd. 15:1–27; Matt. 8:16–17
This is the third in our series themed Jehovah - Our Source for Divine Manifestation. The series is aimed at helping us understand God through His names and how He helps us experience His divine manifestation in several ways. Divine manifestation is the visible expression of God’s life at work in and through His people. This third topic is themed Jehovah Nissi. Jehovah Nissi means The LORD is my Banner. This name is revealed explicitly where Moses built an altar after Israel’s victory over Amalek and called it “The LORD is my Banner.” The Hebrew word “Nissi” means a banner, standard, signal, or rallying point. In ancient warfare, a banner symbolised identity, authority, ownership, direction, and victory. Soldiers rallied around it, drew courage from it, and recognised who they belonged to. Jehovah Nissi assures believers that battles are not faced alone. God fights on behalf of His people, provides identity in conflict, and turns opposition into platforms for victory. Meditation: Exd. 3:14:-15; Exd. 17:1-16; Col. 2:15; Rom. 8:37
Week 3: Jehovah Nissi
This is the fourth in our series themed Jehovah - Our Source for Divine Manifestation. The series is aimed at helping us understand God through His names and how He helps us experience His divine manifestation in several ways. Divine manifestation is the visible expression of God’s life at work in and through His people. This fourth topic is themed Jehovah Shalom. Jehovah Shalom means The LORD is my Peace because the Hebrew word Shalom means more than the absence of conflict. It encompasses peace, completeness, well-being, harmony, security, and restoration of relationships with God and others. The name Jehovah Shalom appears in Judges 6, during a time when Israel was oppressed by the Midianites. The nation lived in fear, poverty, and insecurity because of repeated invasions. God appeared to Gideon, who was threshing wheat in hiding. Gideon saw himself as weak and insignificant, but God addressed him as “a mighty man of valour” (Judges 6:12). When Gideon realised he had encountered the angel of the Lord, he feared he would die. But God reassured him of peace and security and in response, Gideon built an altar and called it: “Jehovah Shalom – The Lord is Peace.” Here we learn an important spiritual principle: God reveals Himself as peace in the midst of fear, conflict, and uncertainty. Meditation: Exd 3:14-15; Jud. 6:1-24; Eph. 2:14; John 14:27; Rom. 14:17
Week 4: Jehovah Shalom
This is the fifth in our series themed Jehovah - Our Source for Divine Manifestation. The series is aimed at helping us understand God through His names and how He helps us experience His divine manifestation in several ways. Divine manifestation is the visible expression of God’s life at work in and through His people. This fifth topic is themed Jehovah Raah. Jehovah Raah means The LORD is my Shepherd. This name reveals God as the Lord who shepherds, leads, nurtures, protects, and sustains His people. The term “Raah” in Hebrew means to feed, tend, guide, and care for a flock. Thus, Jehovah Raah is “The Lord My Shepherd.” The clearest expression of this name is found in Psalm 23:1. Various dimensions of God’s shepherding role are presented. As our Shepherd He: provides, guides, protects, comforts, honours and assures of sustained blessing and lifelong divine companionship. Furthermore, Jesus Christ declares: “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.” Here, Jehovah Raah is revealed fully in Christ who promises sacrificial leadership, relational intimacy and security. Meditation: Exodus 3:14:-15; Ps. 23:1-6; John 10:11, 14; Isaiah 40:11
