Cultural Connect: "Upanishad for the day: Maitri Upanishad" The Maitri Upanishad, also known as the Maitrayaniya Upanishad, is a later Upanishad that explores themes of dualism, the Atman, and the relationship between the phenomenal and noumenal realms. It is mainly known for its emphasis on the Samkhya and Yoga schools of Hinduism, as well as references to theories found in Buddhism. Here is an excerpt from the Upanishad, As water becomes one with water, fire with fire, and air with air, so the mind becomes one with the infinite Mind and thus attains Freedom. Imagine raindrops failing on a lake, which merge and become part of the lake. The raindrop does not lose its identity or chemical composition. Just like that, when our mind dwells on God and connects with His infinite aspect, we discover the greatness within ourselves that helps liberate our mind from worry and chaos.
How Lord remains in the Five skies. The state of being in Pancha Akasha state is the capacity of being all pervasive. Lord’s Pancha Akasha are, Bhuta Akasha is the first four layers of skin ( atomic form) Agni mandala rules this Bhuta Akasha. Pranav Akasha is the fourth and fifth layers. Vayu mandalas are in Pranav Akasha. Chithakasha is the fifth layer where success or Siddhi is achieved over the water principle element. Body’s sixth layer Prithvi Siddhi is Paramakasha. Body’s seventh layer is the embodiment of awareness Arivaakasham. In the Lord’s Pancha Akasha form, the elements present in the order are Sky, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. However, in other living beings on earth, they are present in the reverse order. Hence, all living beings are under the influence of three innate impurities, Anava, Karma, and maya and also the three humours Satva, Rajas and Tamas. Because of this humans lose all divine qualities and are always under. the influence of the body. The Pancha Akasha shows how it controls the functions of our body. Top layer of our skin has seven atomic layers. The first four layers belong to the Agni mandala of earth. The three worlds of bhu,Bhuvarloka and Suvarloka belong to these four layers of earth. Transition through the womb is forced for those who live in the three worlds of Bhu, Bhuvarloka and Suvarloka. The three worlds are associated with Agni mandala, they cause delusions and rebirth where life is controlled by fate. This Bhutakasha is called Devi’s Thirodhana Shakti. Yoga, Tapas and Nishtai help to cross this. When Agni is crossed, the first four layers of skin are crossed. The stage of Pranava Akasha is related to all pervading Vayu principles. What we call the sixth sense ends here and the seventh sense begins. Subtle worlds are under Pranava Akasha rules. Even though the inhabitants of these subtle worlds are humans, they are super humans who have a seventh sense. It's called athi manusha. The Tapo nishtai state is called chittakasha after Pranava Akasha. This state grants three divine states of Sayujyam, Salokham, and Saroopam. This is beyond Manas, Buddhi, and Ahamkara. This Chithi Akasha remains as the fifth atomic layer on our skin.vThis is called success over the element water, which is after the Vayu principle. Paramakasha comes after chidakasha which is the sixth layer in our body. Those who have reached Paramakasha are granted the divine state of Saameepam which is Jeeva brahma aikyam. Pinnacle of nishtai is jnana Deha to Sadhaka. Gratitude Siddha Amarakavi Taken from secrets of Divine worship. Balambika Charanam. Image courtesy: https://adiveda.substack.com/p/five-elements

Know your Mythology: "The Golden Silence: Maa Baglamukhi The Silencer", by Thulasinathan Kandasamy The world was in turmoil, and even the wind seemed to carry whispers of dread. Madan, the demon blessed with the dangerous boon of Vak-siddhi, roamed the land. With every arrogant stride and every booming word, he caused chaos - mountains crumbled, storms raged, and the hearts of gods and mortals alike filled with fear. No one could challenge him, for whatever Madan spoke became a reality. The Devas, mighty as they were, found themselves utterly powerless in the face of his unstoppable tongue. Desperate for peace, the gods gathered and prayed with all their might for a saviour. Their prayers rose like golden smoke, and the heavens themselves seemed to pause in anticipation. Suddenly, the sky shimmered with a golden light, and a hush swept over the world. From this radiant glow emerged Maa Baglamukhi, the goddess of stillness and supreme control. She was a vision to behold, draped in brilliant yellow garments, her skin glowing with the warmth of turmeric, and seated on a majestic golden throne or a blooming lotus. Around her neck hung a garland of yellow flowers, and her eyes sparkled with both compassion and unyielding strength. In one hand, she held a heavy golden club, and in the other, she was ready to grasp the very source of Madan’s power. Madan, ever boastful, puffed out his chest and laughed at the sight of her. “Who dares to challenge my tongue?” he sneered, his voice echoing like thunder. But Maa Baglamukhi simply smiled - a calm, knowing smile that seemed to silence the very air. With grace and authority, she strode forward. In a flash, she seized Madan by his tongue! The demon’s eyes grew wide with terror. He tried to shout, to curse, to command-but no sound escaped his lips. It was as if the world itself had decided to ignore him. The gods watched in awe as the mighty demon, who once bent reality with his words, now stood helpless in the goddess’s grasp. Humbled and powerless, Madan’s heart cried out for mercy. Though his tongue was still, the goddess, who hears even the silent prayers of the repentant, understood his wish: to be remembered in worship alongside her. With a compassionate nod, she granted his desire. Then, with a single, decisive blow from her golden club, she silenced his mischief forever. If you close your eyes, you can almost see her even now-radiant in yellow, serene and unshakable, Maa Baglamukhi: the golden goddess who tames chaos and teaches us that true power lies in calm, compassionate control. Kshetra Varalaru series: "Tulajapur Bhavani Temple - Shakthi Peetam at Maharashtra", by Smt. Indumathi Om Gurubyo Namah Balambika Charanam Today we are going to see Tuljapur Bhavani temple in Maharashtra. This is a Shakthi peetam where Ambal's right hand fell. Chatrapathi Shivaji was an ardent devotee of this Ambal. It is said that Ambaal had given a sword to Shivaji. Tulaja, Bhavani, Amba are the names of this Ambal. This temple was built by Rashtrakutas and the Chalukyas as it was repeatedly destroyed by the invaders. Though vehicles go near the temple, the terrain is rough and steep. Ambal is in a fierce form as Durga with 8 hands wielded with weapons. All the 3 Navaratris are celebrated here. Pujas are done 5 times a day. In the olden days, goats were given as sacrifices. But now, it is stopped except on the last day of Navratri. Every year, after Sharada Navaratri, Ambal is said to be tired and in Nidra. So no special pujas are done from Ekadashi, the 11th day to that Pournami, for 4 days. Image courtesy: https://www.trawell.in/maharashtra/ solapur/tuljapur-sri-bhavani-temple
