Action Magazine 2024
It all started with Take Action Apparel & Gear. With first-hand knowledge that bullying has become a serious epidemic in schools across the nation, Gabriel L. Silva wanted to help give kids like him a voice! "I was a victim of repeated bullying. I am small for my age and kids would make fun of me for my size. Eventually, the verbal turned physical. I know that not everyone is going to like me, and I am actually okay with that. But disliking and mistreating someone physically, verbally, or emotionally for basically being different and not taking the opportunity to get to know them for who they are, is not okay. I had an opportunity to travel to LA for pilot season, when I came home, I found out that three of my friends had had an even harder time than I did at school. I knew what they were feeling, but I was helpless to help them. I wanted to do something. So, we got together with a group of experts and some really cool designers to create Take Action Apparel & Gear." Fast forward through time, and as a result of Take Action Apparel & Gear, Action Magazine was born, giving a worldwide platform for both adults and kids in the industry, who are passionate about taking a stance against bullying, a place to share their stories. Effects on children that either are the bully or that are being bullied go well beyond the school day and sometimes last a lifetime. Students who are bullied sometimes resort to suicide and the bullies often find themselves incarcerated by the time that they are adults. "Action Magazine is a great way to showcase amazing talent within the industry, while at the same time, giving them an opportunity to let kids know that they are not alone and help them to feel empowered. I found my voice through acting/modeling and practicing Tae Kwon Do, I stopped focusing on the negative and was able to discover the positive in me. If we help just one by sharing our stories, then Action Magazine is doing what we have created it to do."

What is your favorite thing about competing? I got started in pageantry at six-years-old to help bring me out of my shell around other people. I always had a big personality behind the scenes and off camera but it was what my mom called shrinking back when I got in front of others was what I struggled with. She put me in pageants to help with that. I love that pageantry allowed me to display my full personality on and off stage. It helped boost my confidence and allowed me to truly show my talent and personality. What is you favorite thing about competing in pageants? My favorite thing about competing is it allowed me to make new friends, participate in fun categories like fun fashion, which I love. Participated in the LA Show Case and received 11 callbacks and got signed to a Management Company. My character on Nick’s House is easy because I get to play myself. What are five things that you can't live without? God, my family, my phone, music and basketball, in that order. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? The Sky Is Not The Limit. No one should set limitations on themselves. What's your favorite color? I love the color black because it’s such a chill color. What is your favorite movie? Puss In Boots (The Last Wish) is my favorite movie because it’s super funny. The villain was my favorite character. What is your favorite TV show? Green Arrow is one of my favorite TV shows because every episode was full of action. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? As much I love dogs, my mom won’t let me to have one yet. She says I don’t have time to take care of a pet because I stay busy. But if I had one I would name it Dovonte. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? I love California. I traveled there a few years ago when I appeared on The Steve Harvey Show. I’ve been trying to get back every since. What is your favorite food? My favorite food is Chicken Alfredo from the Olive Garden. And of course, I have to have a side of bread sticks. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Kawhi Leonard because he’s a talented athlete and I love his work ethic. I would love to have him coach me on my gameplay. For a 12-year-old, you have such an impressive resume. From author to the youngest TV executive producer, you have done it all. Let’s start with author. Tell us how you got started writing. On the first day of first grade, I asked my teacher if me and a friend could collaborate with reading a book. My teacher was so impressed with the word I used that she messaged my mom. When I arrived home my mom asked me if I wanted to write a book this way I could share all the words I knew with my peers. And that’s how my journey as an author began. You have a three titles in the U.S. Library of Congress! How did that distinction make you feel as an author? I didn’t think much of it until I was invited to visit the Ghana Embassy in Washing DC which is where the Library of Congress is located. Since we were there we decided to take a trip to the library. I was amazed at how grand it was and how it housed so many books. They were even able to pull up the information on my first published book. I now have a new found respect for the Library of Congress and love the fact that my book is catalogued there. You have a new title out. Tell us about the book. Yes, my new book is called, The Sky Is Not The Limit. The book is filled with positive affirmations to help you rise above the sky. I decided to write this book because when I travel around doing my motivational speeches I wanted to have something inspiring to leave behind with my audience. What’s more motivating than a book filled with positive affirmations? Now, let’s move on to television! With the creation of Nick’s House, you have been awarded the distinction as the youngest TV executive producer. Tell us about Nick’s House. How did you come up with the concept for the show? The show concept actually came from my real life. My dad is Ghanaian and my mother is African American. I started a business out of my parents home when I was 7. All of my friends are in some shape or form entrepreneurs. The only thing different is that I didn’t have a crazy uncle come stay with me and I believe I’m a lot more fun then the character I portray. I know a lot of people feel that the show is based off of the very old show, Smart Guy, but it’s really not. Granted, when I watched episodes of Smart Guy I could definitely tell the similarities. In addition to producing, you are also an actor in the project. What made you want to start acting? Well, who better to play Nick than me? Since I came up with the show idea based around my life I decided it would be great if I actually played the character. What is the one thing that you hope people take away from both your books? From your new series? I hope that they feel motivated once they read the pages of my current book of affirmations. I want them to believe that there is no limit to their greatness. In addition to all that you have on your plate, you are a consummate philanthropist. Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? Yes, I have a non-profit called, Books Without Borders, Inc., where I donate books and school supplies to children in need. I think that this is important because if kids don’t have the proper tools then it’s harder for them to reach their full potential. I’m glad that I can help out in this small way. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? Will Smith is my favorite actor. I like his movies, Bad Boys and Men In Black. How would you describe your fashion style? I would say my style is more modern Hip-Hop. I love to wear jeans, hoodies, and sneakers. I like to be comfortable and stylish at the same time. Who are some of your favorite people in the entertainment industry that you have worked with thus far? I haven’t technically worked with this person but I was interviewed by Steve Harvey on his talk show. He’s definitely one of my favorite entertainers. I would also have to say Comedian Boogie B. He was my co-star in Nick’s House and just a really fun person to be around. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into writing and/or the entertainment industry? I would say to always believe in yourself and just do it. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? I would love to collaborate with “Nike” because they make some really nice shoes and I love to wear their clothes. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I really love sneakers. Have you ever been bullied? No, but I’ve been teased before which can sometimes feel like bullying to some. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? You should always tell someone. A teacher, a parent, some trusted adult. I also think it’s important that you surround yourself with supportive friends and family members who care about you. Spending time with people who uplift you can help boost your confidence and resilience. If you could talk to your past self, what would you tell him? I would tell myself, “You’re destined to do amazing things, just stay the course!”

What are five things that you can't live without? Music, family What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? When in doubt, read a book. Whatever you're facing, very likely you're not the first, you'll find the answers in some books. What's your favorite color? Yellow, I love a sunny day, and yellow always remind me of that. What is your favorite movie? Chouchou, featuring Gad Elmaleh. What is your favorite TV show? Girlfriends, I'm all about meaningful friendship and sisterhood and this show features just that, with people that look me. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? Unfortunately, I don't have a pet. I had a beautiful dog named Bionly, who passed away tragically, I think I got scarred for life. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? My Happy place is by the beach in Jacmel, Haiti. That's where my mind go when I meditate. What is your favorite food? I have a sweet tooth, I'm all about dessert. If it's sweet I want it, if it's made with chocolate, much better. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Set me up for a diner with Trevor Noah, such a brilliant mind and we come from similar background, I feel like we could converse for hours. What made you want to start singing? I was brought up by creative parents. My dad is a sax player and plays with lots of major Haitian "konpa" bands, and my mom is a seamstress. He used to host church choir rehearsals and songwriting sessions at home. He took me to some of his band's rehearsals and recording sessions too. In school, I was very into literature, drama class, dance and drawing class. I think I always had the music in me, I was always humming some melody, that got me in trouble sometimes. As a teen, I became a petite model for a local fashion designer, it was my Entryway to the show business, my friend who was an event promoter at that time convinced me to participate in a songwriting contest and I did. I was in a last 10 finalist, we went on a national tour(Haiti)and I've been hooked since then. You are also a songwriter, where do you find inspiration for your music? I don't have a specific process to create. Melodies and/or lyrics can come to me when I least expect it, I just make sure to save them on my phone. I can go back to my notes when I'm in the studio, or I can let the beat show me what to do. I can also sit down, mess around with my guitar until I find something interesting to build upon, honestly, that happens more and more recently. That's mainly how my new album "Unphased" came about. What do you hope people take away from your music? As I'm stepping back to look at the big picture I think a lot of my music is anchored in the concept of freedom, to make your own choices, be your own person, paint outside the lines, and be yourself no matter what they say. You have a new project, “Unphased,” tell us about this project? In 2020, I took a deep dive in a place that I have avoided, in introspection. From there, an avalanche of music poured out of me. Which I'm now starting to share on this new album "Unphased". Thanks to Purfek Storm Group I was free to create however and whenever I wanted. This freedom allowed me to discover new aspects of my creativity as I started producing some of my tracks, something I'm honestly quite proud of. The result is a project authentic and true to myself as I paint my experiences through the many phases of relationships. Hopefully this helps someone out there on their own journey. In one word, how would you describe your sound? Eclectic. Who is your favorite musician and why? Lady Gaga, she thinks outside the box. How would you describe your fashion style? I'd say Eclectic, Feminine, Glam. Who are some of your favorite musicians that you have worked with? If I had to build a dream team from all the musicians i have collaborated with throughout the years it would be: my father, Israel Lebien, sax player, my former bass player Richard Barbot, Yohann Doré, amazing Guitarist, Daden, excellent drum player. Allister Quilon, multi-instrumentalist from The Sunset Kings, he has a unique sensibility for live arrangements. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? Just do it! It might sound cheesy, but you have to put yourself out there and start doing, put in the 10,000 hours, hone your craft, learn from others, study your heroes, learn to deal with rejection, use feedback to improve, rehearse… a lot, when you find your style, make your music, and most of all, share your music. Who would be your dream music collaboration and why? Josh Groban and I with a huge orchestra would be the most magical and timeless piece. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I'm quite clumsy. I often wake up with bruises with no recollection of how they happened. Have you ever been bullied? I used to fight a lot in elementary school, I'd come home sometimes with streaks of blood on my uniform, missing buttons from my shirt etc. My Daddy told me to defend myself against bullies, so I did. When it got to point where I had to retake a grade, I made the decision to go stop responding to attacks, no more violence, turn the other cheek mindset. Turns out, it's no fun for bullies when you act like a statue, so they just stopped bothering me. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? Talk about what you're going through with someone you trust. Know that your feelings are legitimate, you don't deserve to be treated like this. “Hurt people hurt people". Most bullies are treated badly in their own lives and are just lashing out at the nearest target. It’s not you, it’s them. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her? I'm glad you kept going!

What are five things that you can't live without? I can’t live without my phone, guitar, thrift stores, coffee, and the ability to BBQ some good food. haha What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? One of my motto's I live by is a quote from Justin Bieber, and that is Never say Never, and Believe. With that being applied to my life, I feel like i’ve had a lot of miracles happen. Like for instance, winning a TV show at 20-years- old. What's your favorite color? My favorite color is pink...such a classic blonde headed girl response, I know, I know. But hey, the Barbie movie really inspired me, what can I say? What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie is Avatar! Something about it has always had me in a grip, since I was about 9-years-old, around when it came out. I think it’s beautiful to watch, and the story itself can have great lessons in it to learn. What is your favorite TV show? Ginny and Georgia! It’s really entertaining and has a great story line. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? One of my favorite places to travel to was New York City, and mainly because the food there is just so good. I love a big slice of Ray's Pizza! What is your favorite food? I’m definitely a pizza lover. I could probably eat it for every meal and never get tired of it. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? I would love to have dinner with Justin Bieber, just because he’s my favorite person. I’d love to ask him all about his journey in the music business. What made you want to start singing? There wasn’t really a specific person who made me want to start singing. I just started singing on my own, then drifted towards people who also sing. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? The most difficult part of being a musician is just trying to fill your calendar up with things that will better you, and get you to where you need to be. Being “successful” looks different to a lot of people, but I feel as if for myself, it’s super important to always be doing something that betters me and makes me feel “successful”. Whether it be writing sessions, playing shows out, or networking, I’m always trying to be doing them. But, with that being said, it can also really tire a person out and get repetitive. You are also a songwriter, where do you find inspiration for your music? My inspiration for my music comes from a lot of different experiences I have in life. Sometimes I write songs about things I currently am going through, and then sometimes I channel how I felt in a certain situation months ago, or even from years ago. But most of the time the ideas start from a hook idea, or even a melody I hear in my head. Sometimes both! What do you hope people take away from your music? I hope people can take away a lot of emotions when they hear my music. I want the songs I write to give clarity to others, relatability, and mostly, I just want them to feel something. The reason I listen to music is because I'm an empath, and I love listening to music and feeling like I completely get what the singer is trying to say. I want to do that for others as well. You have a new project, “Whisky Girl,” tell us about this project? This project started in October of 2022. I recently had gotten home from a music festival out in Sacramento, CA. I was gifted a bottle of Whiskey from the festival that I had gone to. I brought the Whiskey back to Nashville, and it was sitting in my living room for the longest time. Two co-writers of mine had come over to write a song that day, and I had showed them the Whiskey, and I jokingly said “I guess i’m a Whiskey Girl now” and then boom, the song was started moments after. In one word, how would you describe your sound? Authentic In addition to music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charit ywork, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I’m extremely passionate about thrifting. I think its great for the environment, affordable, and a great way to find unique pieces that no one else has! Who is your favorite musician and why? It’s very hard for me to pick a favorite musician, because I have sooo many. But some of my favorites are Justin Bieber, Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, Stevie Nicks, and Akon. A very random selection but their music is all amazing in its own way. How would you describe your fashion style? My fashion is very country girl casual on a normal day. You can usually find me wearing camo and trucker hats. But when its shows and fancy events, its mixed with Hailey Bieber meets an Ariat ad! Very fancy cowgirl you could say. I love wearing my American Hat! Who are some of your favorite musicians that you have worked with? I really loved working with Ester Dean. She is very knowledgeable about songwriting and the music business. So readers, you don’t know her, look up some of the songs she wrote! You’ll be amazed! What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? I would tell them to be extremely patient, be super smart about signing any contracts, and always ask other people for help! Its so important for a new artist to also find out who they are first, and see what they want to say. I’m still learning and growing every day, but I took a lot of time to put out music. And now that I finally am putting it out, I know exactly what I do want to say, and what I don’t want to say. It takes time to build a brand. Who would be your dream music collaboration and why? My dream collaboration would be with Lainey Wilson or Morgan Wallen. Whether it be they cut a song I wrote, or I sing a record with them. I respect them a lot because they have some of the best music out there right now. Have you ever been bullied? Yes, I have been bullied. I was bullied a lot in high school, so honestly high school was extremely hard for me, and because of that, I never have missed it like most. My “best friends” would always cut up at the lunch table using a “secret” name they had given me (little did they know a peer told me they were talking about me). At one point, they even posted a public Snapchat story about me for everyone to see and laugh at. I was stuck though, because growing up in a small town you just have to deal with those types of people until you get out. To this day, they still talk about me. But now that i’m older, I finally have been able to grasp it was just jealousy all along. I never knew I was someone worth being jealous over, because they made me feel so bad about myself. I always thought there was something wrong with me. But I’m here to tell anybody who is going through that right now, that you need to find the bravery in yourself to find new friends, or just be alone. Because you can carry those insecurities in your adulthood, making it hard to trust people who are supposedly your “best friends”. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? My advice is that they need to stick up for themselves, or do whatever they can to avoid the bullies. For me, I wish I could go back in time and set those people straight. But truthfully rotten people will almost always be rotten until they have an awakening. It’s best to just know that school is temporary and not forever. You can get away from it one day! If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her? I would tell my future self that i’m proud of her for wherever she ends up. Because I know myself well, and I always make smart decisions and stay consistent at doing what I love.

What are five things that you can't live without? 1. Gotta be my laptop. I use it to play games, edit videos, and do 99% of my work. 2. Candles. I strictly light candles for relaxing work sessions or DnD. My anxiety would be through the roof without them. 3. My Timberland hiking shoes. There is no better way to decompress than getting out of the city and spending 6 hours a day climbing a mountain. 4. I mean you can’t play DnD without dice. 5. I have a picture of my family below my computer monitor that always brings me comfort. Couldn’t be here without them. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Don’t compromise yourself - you’re all you have. - John Grisham What's your favorite color? Oh it’s gotta be emerald green. The entire aesthetic of my room off camera is the equivalent of typing “emerald green” into a Pinterest search bar. What is your favorite movie? Mike Nichols’ The Graduate. I watched it during a time in college when I was feeling particularly stuck in life, and it had a profound impact on me. Every time I rewatch the film, its meaning seems to change, and I view it through a different lens as I grow older. However, the character of Benjamin Braddock will always remind me of how I felt at that time in my life and how much I have changed for the better since then. What is your favorite TV show? Has to be Attack on Titan. In my junior year high school picture I’m wearing Eren Yeager’s key necklace. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? I don’t! However, my roommate owns a bearded dragon named Niles that is the life of the party and is super great at listening to me vent. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? I have never been outside of the US actually! I have to say that it’s probably Prestonsburg, Kentucky. I traveled there when I was in video production during Covid and met some of the most inviting and friendly people. What is your favorite food? Locking it in with the American classic, a donut. Before DnD I was thinking of starting a donut review channel…I thank God everyday that I didn’t. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? If I'm answering the question in the way it's meant to be answered, I would say Brennan Lee Mulligan because I have such admiration for him and his storytelling ability. However, in all honesty, I would say my mom and dad because I don't get to see them as much when I'm across the country, and I would love to say hello. You are a multi-hyphenated talent. From acting to content creation, you have one impressive resume. Let’s work backwards and start with acting. Tell us how you got started? I actually went to school an hour away from where I lived in Grand Rapids, MI. When I would stay at a friend's house, I would have to stick around for whatever extracurricular they were involved in. One day, I had to go to my buddy's acting rehearsal, and the theater director (who had been asking me every day to audition for a role) convinced me to fill in for the part of someone who was absent that day. I remember doing a cold read so well that everyone gave me a standing ovation, and that moment changed my life. What has been your favorite role so far to portray and why? I played the role of John Willoughby in my university's portrayal of Sense and Sensibility and it was so fun playing the part of a craven heartthrob. I yearn to play villains in nearly every role. If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be? I would love to be a no-nonsense villain in a drama much like Gustavo Fring from Breaking Bad…which is polar opposite to my actual personality. Next, let’s talk about your content creation on TikTok. You are known as Zach the Boldon the popular social media platform. Tell us how you got started. I started making comedy videos on TikTok about two years ago. These would be completely random and whatever I found funny at the time. Looking back at them now, I seriously cringe at a lot of them. Once I began making Dungeons and Dragon videos and started picking up some traction, I realized that I could mix production, comedy, and storytelling in one, and it seems that people really latched onto it. Who would you say is your target audience? It would be wrong to say anything other than general fantasy fans and table top role playing game enjoyers, but I genuinely try to make my videos broad and enjoyable enough for anyone to like them. I see DnD as just another storytelling medium and encourage everyone to give it a try. As a content creator/YouTube/TikTok personality, what has been your favorite video that you have posted to date. Why? I would have to say my favorite video to date is a montage of everything a player has gone through with their character "Eisenhorn" until their final moments when they're asked to say their last words. The switch from melodrama to complete absurdity cracks me up every time. In addition to doing all that you do, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I love going to the gym, hiking, and spending a lot of time with my friends. As my career begins to take over the majority of my time, I believe it's healthy to take some time to take care of oneself and be surrounded by people who believe in you. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? Ben Schwartz has molded my sense of comedy for over ten years. I originally saw him on Jake and Amir, a popular YouTube show back in the 2010’s. I have recently had the pleasure of seeing him perform at one of his many improv shows and was blown away at how hard he can still make me laugh. How would you describe your fashion style? Very generic at the moment! I’m usually rocking black pants and a graphic tee. When I do dress up however, I stick to a “dark academia” style. Who are some of your favorite creators that you have worked with? I haven’t worked with many! I would say I take heavy inspiration from Brennan Lee Mulligan and XPToLevel3. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into being a content creator/actor? Your dreams are more realistic than you expect. Realize that it's going to be an incredibly difficult road that will take sacrifice, but there is a reason to follow your dreams. Make tangible goals for yourself and start pursuing them. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? To be in an episode of Dimension 20 or Critical Role. These, in my opinion, are the pinnacle of all things DnD. To be surrounded by such brilliant people on a decorated set would be amazing. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I’ve got a killer impression of Marge from The Simpsons. Have you ever been bullied? I was bullied a bit for a few things as a kid, mostly my nose and lack of owning a cellphone. I was lucky enough to find a group of friends to back me up against any consistent harassment. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? I realized very early on that a bully just wants a reaction and decided not to give them one. However, if the bullying is persistent or you don’t feel safe, immediately get an adult involved. Never suffer in silence, there is always someone there to listen. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? Don’t keep changing the goalpost, you’ve already made it so far.

I’ve always been interested in writing and wrote little short stories on Word documents. But as I wrote down more ideas and watched more movies and shows, I realized I wanted to start writing scripts. I wrote my first script Ghost Dinosaur with Jax Malcolm and from there I continued writing and also continued writing and working on projects with Jax like our upcoming audio fiction, This Is My Story. What is your favorite type of genre to write and why? Comedy. I’ve always had a pretty out-there imagination and love all types of comedy. I love laughing and love making people laugh. Where do you find inspiration for your writing? From life, movies and shows, random thoughts, pretty much anything. I find humor in a lot of things and then write it down so I can turn it into something. Next, let’s talk directing. How did you get started behind the camera? Directing is something I’ve always wanted to do as well. I just decided to go for it so I could make my projects come to life. I’m glad I did because I love it! What types of projects do you like to direct and why? Comedy. It’s always a fun time coming up with crazy ideas and putting them into action. Tell us about your latest short, Intruders. Intruders is about two simple-minded intruders who get more than they bargain for. It’s an idea I sat on for a while but then decided to turn it into something. I brought on my cousin Brandon Louhier to help behind the scenes and Khalil Taylor and David Mendez, two good friends of mine to play the leads. Everyone brought a lot of new ideas to the table while we were shooting that added a lot to the final cut. I hope we can all get together and make something again soon! For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, it’s up on YouTube now on the Evolving Eye Productions channel! Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? This changes quite a bit because I tend to really enjoy someone's work than binge-watch most of their movies. But, right now I’ll go with Paul Dano. Everything I’ve seen him in he delivers. How would you describe your fashion style? I don’t know if I’d consider myself stylish.I like wearing T-shirts, hoodies, and sweatpants. Sometimes I’ll wear a button-up shirt with some nicer pants but I love dressing comfy. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? Work hard and teach yourself something new every day. Don’t let anxiety stop you from following your dreams. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? Got a lot of dream collaborations but for now I’ll say Kevin Smith. I love his films and would love to show up for a role and be directed by him. Clerks was filmed like 40 minutes from me which is sick. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? Despite what most think, I can’t actually do a triple backflip. Not even on a trampoline. Have you ever been bullied? Yes. I have alopecia and was completely bald by 8th grade. People would always say stuff about me but there were a few people that would smack me in the head, one person in particular would do it every day. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? Try to ignore it if you can. If it’s really bad though make sure you stick up for yourself, tell people who can help you get out of the situation, and stay positive. Never get to their level. If you could talk to your past self, what would you tell him? I would tell my past self to keep doing what he’s doing. Want to see Intruders for yourself? Check-out of Filmmakers Corner on pg. 210.

What are five things that you can't live without? My laptop, Ableton, food, my phone and my Indian spices. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Everything happens for a good reason. It will all fall into place one way or the other. What's your favorite color? Blue What is your favorite movie? Spiderman - No Way Home What is your favorite TV show? The Last Of Us What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? It has to be Thailand. One of the most beautiful place I’ve ever visited. What is your favorite food? I love Chicken Biriyani. It’s chicken and rice cooked with Indian herbs and spices. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? I would love to have dinner with Jon Bellion. He is my favorite producer and vocalist and I would love to chat with him about his process. What made you want to start singing? I was already producing music for a bit of time when I decided to start singing for my homework assignments at Icon Collective. That was when I came to know that I can actually sing decently and with some practice I can definitely improve it. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? Creative blocks are the worst. But I feel like I write my best music right after it. So it’s kind of a boon and a curse at the same time. You are also a songwriter, where do you find inspiration for your music? I always find inspiration from certain thoughts or different genres of music for my own songs. What do you hope people take away from your music? I hope that people experience a new sound in mainstream pop/electronic music and also notice the importance of simplicity as my songs are very simple. You have a new project, “Slowly,” tell us about this project? "Slowly" has to be one of my favorite songs that I have made. It all started with a simple guitar loop from a website and i came up with the topline instantly. Then I finished the production with the whole topline and got my friend Rose to help me write the song. The whole process was really fun, streamlined and fast. This song is about loving someone you can’t have and telling them that you can give them everything they ever wanted. In one word, how would you describe your sound? Diverse In addition to music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I love playing and watching cricket. It’s one of my favorite sports. I also love to play story driven games on my PS5. Who is your favorite musician and why? Jon Bellion is one of my favorite musicians. His productions are really unique and his songwriting is off the charts. The one thing I like abut Jon is that he is never afraid to push the boundaries of pop music. How would you describe your fashion style? I would describe it as modern and minimalistic. Who are some of your favorite musicians that you have worked with? It has to be two of my best friends, Rose and Elise Del Mar. They are two of the most talented songwriters that I have ever met in my life and they are just great and humble people. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? Don’t focus too much on the technical aspects like mixing and mastering. Focus more on the actual song, the chords, the melodies and the lyrics along with sound selection. People will prefer to listen to a great song with a decent mix and master over a bad song with the best mix and master. Who would be your dream music collaboration and why? It would be Jon Bellion. I think it’s pretty much clear why I want to collaborate with him. He is my favorite musician and I would love to see his process in person. Have you ever been bullied? I have experienced some bullying in my younger years cause of my weight. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? Don’t give it too much thought. Some people will try to bring you down but all you gotta do is move forward with your head up and achieve your goals.

A self-taught singer and songwriter, Thomas Goforth first started performing and writing at the age of 15, fearless and skilled far beyond his years. Forging his mark on the Country music community and fans alike with 2023’s “Black+ Blue” and “Jumpin My Chevy,” Goforth is riding the wave of momentum, gaining a devoted fan base and tenacious online following. After amassing nearly 220K streams as an independent country music up and comer, he’s no stranger to doing things his own way. Blending the contemporary sounds of Pop-infused country with Hip-hop and R&B influences, Goforth has built a reputation as one of the most unmistakable voices rising in young country music. “I never really had anyone to show me how, so a lot of my success in songwriting has been from trial and error,” says the artist, “so a lot of what I do is based on feel and instinct.” Though his music is heavily rooted in the styles of modern hit-makers Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, Fleetwood Mac remains one of Goforth’s heaviest influences. “Growing up my parents would always blast their songs in the truck, maybe a little Bob Seger and Nickelback here and there,” he adds, “now I guess you can call me a product of those days.” With such natural confidence, Goforth’s signature style has a magnetism all its own. After years of experimentation blending pop and r&b he’s found himself in his most comfortable surroundings yet- blending country music with modern pop hooks, 70’s rock‘nroll, and yes, a bit of Usher as well. As a result, Goforth’s narrative voice as a songwriter reflects a depth greater than his years and an approach all his own. In this, Goforth has tirelessly sought out his exact place in music. His earliest memory involved a pen and paper with his parents as his first captive audience.“When I turned 9 or 10 my uncle showed me Hip-Hop and Rap which quickly became my new obsession,” he recounts, “from then on I wanted to be the next Eminem.” He continues, “I would write songs in a notebook and use a voice recorder to record myself. I would stand up and rap my songs while they cheered me on… it’s safe to say I knew from a young age that I belonged in the music world.” Fans new and old continue to gush over Goforth’s entrance into the country music scene. After a string of successful singles in 2023 he continues his streak into 2024 with no signs of stopping. Action Magazine had the extreme pleasure to catch up with this phenomenal talent to get to know him better and we are so glad that we did! What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? I think my life motto’s change as I get older. I’d say my life motto at the moment is to be kind to people even when you feel like you shouldn’t. I think there it too much hate in the world at the moment. What's your favorite color? My favorite color is Orange. What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie is Lawless. What is your favorite TV show? There’s so many new TV shows coming out all the time right now, I’d say right now its Yellowstone. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? Yes! His name is Seamus. He is a Pitbull/Mastiff mix. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? My favorite place that I’ve been to so far is probably Moab, Utah. It looks like a screensaver everyday there. What is your favorite food? My favorite food is steak. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? That answer for me has probably changed every year of my life. At this time I’d say it’s Joey Moi, one of the founders of Big Loud Records. What made you want to start singing? I don’t remember the exact moment that I started singing or why. I know that growing up I really enjoyed listening to Usher, Justin Timberlake, and Gavin Degraw and I wanted to be like them. So I started singing along with the songs and realized that maybe I didn’t sound so bad! Music has always been a huge part of my life since I was just a kid, I knew I was going to do something with it. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? I think there are two difficult things about being a musician, the first thing is navigating. It’s hard to tell which direction to go in and who to trust. The second thing is not giving up. So many things are happening in today’s world of music and when you get on social media and look at other artists and where they are at, you start to compare yourself and try to figure out what you’re doing wrong even if you’re doing nothing wrong. Where do you find inspiration for your music? I find inspiration in a lot of things I think. Most of my inspiration comes from life events, some inspiration comes from just listening to other artists music. I'm a huge Fleetwood Mac fan so their music brings me a good amount of inspiration, I want to make music that makes people feel how I feel when listening to a Fleetwood Mac song. What do you hope people take away from your music? I hope that my music relates to the listeners life in some aspect and that they can really feel the lyrics in the songs. You have a new project, “Get To Me,” tell us about this project? Yes! "Get To Me" is my latest single, it was one of the first songs that I got to write in Nashville. I sat down with my co-writers and producers and told them about my idea for the song, and next thing you know it turned into a great track! The song is about not letting someone get to you anymore in the sense of taking advantage of you. It’s about not letting the person that walked all over you back into your life. It’s definitely one of my favorite songs that I’ve gotten to be a part of so far. It is out now on all streaming platforms! In one word, how would you describe your sound? I’d say, Confident. In addition to music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? Music takes up majority of my time & passion I will say. When I have extra time, I like to read books. I like books about becoming a better person or just improving your life. I want to try and be the best I can be. Who is your favorite musician and why? My favorite musician right now is Morgan Wallen. Growing up I started off listening to R&B and Rap and then transitioned into country music. I came to find out that I really like all genres of music, but Morgan has managed to basically intertwine country and hip-hop since his fame so that’s why he’s my favorite right now. That may change with time. How would you describe your fashion style? I think I’d like to be more fashionable, but I’m really pretty simple. I like plain shirts, blue jeans and boots. So I’d describe it as simple. Who are some of your favorite musicians that you have worked with? I haven’t gotten to work with a whole lot of musicians yet, I’m working on changing that. However, about 8 or 9-years-ago I got to make a song with Chingy. As a kid I would have his songs on repeat and I still to this day listen to his music. It was pretty awesome. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? In today’s world it’s easier to break in to the music scene I think because of TikTok. You could be an overnight sensation if it works out. But overall I’d say, find your sound and just start putting out as much music as possible to start growing a fan base as quickly as possible. Also, focus hard on your social media, the social media is probably even more important than the music. Who would be your dream music collaboration and why? My dream collab would be, Morgan Wallen. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I can touch my tongue to my nose. lol Have you ever been bullied? Yes, a little in high school for wanting to sing. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? Being bullied is a difficult thing, if you can’t escape the bully, it’s hard to stop it from happening. I guess overall, I’d say to learn how to defend yourself and avoid the bully anytime you can. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? I’d say, no matter what happens always stay true to yourself and be grateful for all that you have.

What are five things that you can't live without? Mi Familia, my daughter’s Goldendoodle Ellie, coffee, my phone, traveling What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? We don't grow when things are easy, we grow when we face challenges. - not sure who wrote this but I believe in it wholeheartedly. What's your favorite color? I love green but my home is decorated with light muted colors. What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie is A Beautiful Mind with Russel Crowe. I thought it was brilliant. What is your favorite TV show? I watch my telenovelas but do like The Morning Show. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? I just lost two 15-year-old puppies that were with us for so long. Lulu was a Maltese and Cookie a Pomeranian. We also had a tiny Yorkie that was stolen from us 3 years ago due to him escaping our yard. I just hope they are loving him as much as we did. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? I loved Portugal and Switzerland but nothing compares to my place of birth in The Dominican Republic. What is your favorite food? I love pasta but also my traditional Caribbean food. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? My mother. She was always my inspiration and the wisest woman I knew, always extending a helping hand to those around her without concern for herself. You are the talent publicity manager and CEO of Millennium Public Relations, LLC. Tell us how you got started in general as a businesswoman? Entrepreneurship has always been my passion. Recently, I stumbled upon a business certificate from an employment agency my sister and I launched when I was just 19. Being self-employed has been a lifelong aspiration, particularly after becoming a parent. What made you want to get started as a Publicist in the entertainment industry? Millennium Public Relations was born from my children's involvement in the entertainment industry; my daughter's acting career and my son's work as a filmmaker. Recognizing the need for greater diversity in this field, and having managed my daughter's career extensively, it felt like a natural progression for me to delve into. What has been the hardest part about being an entrepreneur? What has been the most rewarding? Certainly, being an entrepreneur comes with its challenges. We often face a high level of uncertainty and risk. We invest time, money, and effort into our business without a guaranteed outcome. The most rewarding aspect is that I have freedom to bring my creative ideas to life and collaborate with so many professionals in the industry. How does your business look now as opposed to when you first started? In the beginning, things were going smoothly, and my clients were engaging in amazing events. Then, the pandemic hit, causing a significant slowdown. Following that, a strike occurred, and now we are in the process of regaining a sense of normalcy. How do you hope to see your business grow in the future? I envision my business in public relations flourishing in the future through strategic expansion and a commitment to innovation. I aim to increase our client base and broaden our reach across diverse industries. What is the one thing that you hope people take away/remember about your PR firm? We operate as a small boutique agency, that being said, I hope people remember that we aspire for clients to associate our firm with a high standard of professionalism, creativity, and effectiveness in every campaign or project we undertake. In addition to being an entrepreneur, what other things are you passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I am actively involved in volunteering and contributing to various community initiatives. One particular cause that holds significance for me is a foundation I have started in my mother’s name. This foundation will help with supplies for schools for children in rural areas in the Dominican republic as well as raise funds to help people re-build their homes in rural areas. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? I am a big admirer of Jennifer Lopez. I believe she has imparted a valuable lesson to everyone about diversifying in the industry, emphasizing the importance of not solely relying on roles that Hollywood may stereotype you for. Who are some of your favorite people in the entertainment industry that you have worked with so far? I love all my clients and deeply admire them. I am confident that their future holds immense brightness. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into entrepreneurship? For aspiring young entrepreneurs, my advice is to embrace curiosity and fearlessly pursue your passions. Start by identifying what truly excites and motivates you. Learn from both successes and setbacks, as each experience contributes to your growth. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? My dream collaboration would be with Ava Duvernay or Jennifer Lopez. I think they are both trailblazers in the industry. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I came into this world as a member of an extraordinary family with a total of thirteen siblings. Honestly, observing how my parents tackled and successfully navigated the challenges of nurturing such a large family with immense love and patience is truly awe-inspiring. Have you ever been bullied? Not really, thank God. I was very outgoing growing up and grew up with 12 brothers and sisters. I think maybe my brothers did but probably to help me grow into myself. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? Report the bullying to your parents and the authorities, ensuring they are aware of the situation and can take appropriate action. Focus on building your self-esteem and resilience. If you could talk to your past self, what would you tell her? If I had the opportunity to speak with my younger self, I would convey messages of encouragement and affirmation. I would remind myself of the importance of self-confidence, the ability to bounce back from challenges, and the valuable lessons learned from my parents.

What are five things that you can't live without? Faith, family, dance, travel, coffee What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? It is what it is… Not sure if because my dad always said it to me growing up or if it's just knowing somethings are out of your control but I’d have to say that’s definitely my motto. What's your favorite color? Midnight blue, it has a sense of tranquility that resonates with me. What is your favorite movie? Black Swan, the balance between psychological thriller and dance is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I loved how the movie kept me guessing until the very end. What is your favorite TV show? Friends, you gotta love a good Joey and Phoebe moment. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? I have a German Sheppard/Husky mix that we rescued, her name is Bell short for Ballerina Wolfina. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? This is a tricky question because traveling is my passion. I love Greece because of the history but my absolute favorite place to be is NYC. The fast-paced nature of the city, mixed with history, art and fashion really resonates with me. What is your favorite food? Chicken wings are my absolute favorite. Definitely my go-to on most occasions. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Natalie Portman is one of the many actresses I admire. She started acting at a young age like myself, we’d have a lot to discuss. As an actress and creator of art I am in awe of her many talents and I would love to have dinner with her one day. What made you want to start acting? I love storytelling. It’s important to tell people’s stories, it allows space to educate, and for people’s voices to be heard. Sharing one’s perspective can shift the way of thinking and enhance growth in others and ourselves. What is the most difficult thing about being an actor? As auditions come in, you start reading about the individual projects and it's incredibly easy to visualize yourself playing that character. Breaking down a script further connects you to that role. The most difficult thing about being an actor is falling in love with a role. At the end of the day, hundreds of actresses are auditioning for that exact same role. You have to shelve your feelings about that role and not allow yourself to think about it again until you get the callback. It's the attachment and un-attachment to roles that is tough. How do you prepare for auditions? I typically always start by breaking down the story I’m auditioning for, and I try to interpret what’s happening. I then analyze the character’s state of mind and how the character feels about the situation to build perspective. The industry is full of rejection. What is your advice on how to handle it? My advice is not to take things personally. Often productions have multiple boxes that need to be ticked in order to cast a role. Sometimes it’s about looking like other family members that have already been cast, or it could be your age which gives the production limitations of you are under the age of 18. At the end of the day it's just business. You have had many wonderful roles. What has been the one role that you relate to the most? The role that I relate to most is Emmy Mendoza on the Disney Channel's “Sydney to the Max. Emmy is corky and funny, a lot like me. She’s super protective of the people she loves and isn’t afraid to defend them. We had 3 amazing seasons on the show and by season 2 our brilliant writers started writing more of me and my real life into Emmy’s character. The cross over was really cool from an actor’s stand point. I will forever be grateful to Disney to have allowed me to play Emmy. If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? My perfect role would be in a psychological thriller. I would love to portray a character who is out of her mind crazy. I want to keep audiences on their toes and to have them constantly guess what I’m going to do next. In addition to acting, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I’m definitely a philanthropist at heart, I’ve worked with CHLA and Saint Jude’s Research Hospital. I have a passion for helping children and making a positive impact to create a meaningful change. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? I admire Zendaya, another young actress who’s been able to change people's perspectives of her as an artist. When you’re a Disney kid it's easy for audiences to only see you as that, but it's about embodying new roles to which you can’t see yourself in that character. Pushing the envelope and evolving as an actress is what it's all about. How would you describe your fashion style? My day-to-day fashion style is casual streetwear. I’m a dancer so oversized pants and sweatshirts are my go-to. For events I like to flip the script, I love to give a nod to the classics with a little modern edge. I love to wear heels, I have an insane amount of shoes, it's kind of my thing. Who are some of your favorite actors that you have worked with? I had the absolute pleasure of working with David Arquette, Constance Wu, Randall Park, Shemar Moore, and Caroline Rhea who are all so kind and amazing, but it was my time with Shaun Cassidy and Scott Bakula that really was special. They are complete legends with vision unlike any others. Watching them work was truly a gift, their insight and guidance has forever left an impression on my heart. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into acting? My first piece of advice is to be yourself, there’s only one you and you are special. Casting is looking for special. My second piece of advice is there will be times when you work a lot and there will be times it’ll be quiet for a while. When it's slow try and be a regular kid, do sports, and go to birthday parties. Enjoy being a kid for as long as you can. I’m still my 10-year-old self at heart. Who would be your dream on screen collaboration and why? The idea of working with David Spade would be an absolute dream. His comedic brilliance sparks more than laughter but creativity in the art. He’s effortless on screen and he’s had an incredible career which I aspire to have one day. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I’m the person people come to when they need someone to give it to them straight. I’m the friend that doesn’t sugarcoat things. I say things as they are and I’m as real and transparent as they come. Have you ever been bullied? There have definitely been times when I’ve had to deal with "mean girl" situations. Have people been purposely rude or made fun of me at school, yes. I have felt the need to make myself feel small in order to fly under the radar on several occasions growing up. The intent and repetition of these bully’s behavior led me to feel powerless until I confided in my mother. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? My advice to someone dealing with bullying is to find support. I realize it can be difficult to talk to someone and tell them the situation but feeling alone without the tools to navigate through being bullied is heavy. Find someone you trust who will listen. Talk through a plan on how to deal with it. Lastly, seek help from a teacher or administrator, odds are if this person is doing it to you, they could be doing it to others. Bullying is never OK. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her? I would remind my future self that her worth is immeasurable and the unique talents she possesses bring value to the table. I would tell my future self that confidence is not just a trait, it’s a belief in your abilities and to have the courage to embrace challenges. Every setback is an opportunity to learn and grow, for it is through perseverance that success is earned. Resilience is our superpower. Keep pushing through those barriers.

What are five things that you can't live without? My family (sangha), my heart (love and compassion is everything and it literally keeps me alive), my body (it gets me around), my meditation practice (it keeps me sane and on the path to enlightenment), my mind (basically, how I impute the world) What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Marry the heart and mind and teach the heart to think and the mind to feel. What's your favorite color? That changes with my moods. However, if I were to pick one at this moment, I’d say sky blue. What is your favorite movie? Time Bandits What is your favorite TV show? The original Twilight Zone series. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? No, my last one was a cat named, Angel, which I made a web-series, movie, and musical about called Hell’s Kitty. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Luang Prabang in Laos. What is your favorite food? Pizza. I could eat it everyday though I probably shouldn’t. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Buddha because I seek wisdom. You are truly one multi-faceted entertainer. You are a musician, writer/director, and actor. Let’s start with acting. In Hell’s Kitty. What made you want to get in front of the camera? I was the only one who could sit with my cat Angel without getting scratched! And I knew the role since it was based on my life trying to date in L.A. with a possessive pussycat. What made you want to become a director? What has been your favorite project to work on so far? I watched a play that I wrote called The Nun, The Bum, and The Gun, performed at Little Theater in New Haven, Connecticut. I didn’t like how it was interpreted, and I felt that I should have directed it myself. As a musician, where do you find inspiration for your music? My daughter, Catalina Tana. She’s non-verbal and we communicate through music as well as the rest of the nine muses. Same question for your screenplays. Where does the inspiration come from for such awesome scripts? Same answers. Though in the past, most of my ideas came from dreams. You have a new project, Hillbillies vs. Alien Chickens. Tell us about this project. It’s a Sci-Fi, horror-comedy about a vegan hillbilly named B.U.B.A., who discovers he's the world's best defense against invading alien chickens. Partnering with his mad scientist uncle, his survivalist sister, and a badass government agent, B.U.B.A. and his headstrong hillbilly family use everything from pitchforks and chainsaws to sawed-off shotguns to fend off the more sophisticated but fowl, bad egg invaders. Think: Mars Attacks meets Killer Klowns From Outer Space. In one word, how would you describe your universe? Surreal. In addition to all that you do, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? If I understand your question correctly, you're asking about things I do that don't involve writing, directing, or producing. In that case, I would say that my most important work is caring for a child with a life-threatening illness. This experience has opened my eyes to the world of science, medicine, and healthcare, and it has also introduced me to a deeply enriching meditation and spiritual practice that has completely transformed my perspective on life. I meditate for an hour every day and rarely miss a session. Additionally, I try to practice giving dharma, or teachings of the Buddha, to others. I believe that enlightenment is the only true purpose in life, and that seeking meaning in any other way is ultimately futile. Who is your favorite musician and why? David Bowie because despite his experimental nature, Bowie achieved significant commercial success, selling over 100 million records worldwide. He was a great songwriter, musician and performer. How would you describe your fashion style? Casual, comfortable, and original, with a penchant for made in Italy. Who are some of your favorite people that you have worked with in the entertainment industry? I really like Charles Chiodo (Killer Klowns From Outer Space), Courtney Gains (Children of The Corn) and Dale Midkiff (Pet Sematary) who were all such a blast to work with onHell’s Kitty. I also love Jack Black and what he does to help raise money for Providence Trinity Kids Care. Playing on stage with him in front of a host of families and children in hospice and making them laugh and smile was one of my career highlights. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into entertainment? Be patient and keep your “day job”! Who would be your dream collaboration and why? Meryl Streep because she’s so talented and I think she would understand some of my newest, most meaningful work. Also, Sam Raimi because I think we share a lot of similar sensibilities, and we would make real magic together. And Kevin Hart because he’d crack me up the entire time, and he’s vegan! What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I fantasize about visiting Madagascar and diving in the red sea. Have you ever been bullied? Yes, frequently as a child. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? Learn a martial art. It builds confidence inside and out. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? I’d say that I’m going to write a story about him.

What's your vibe?
What are five things that you can't live without? My wife Olivia, my two girls: Evie and Elsa, and my two Yorkie puppies: Stormy and Flurry What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? No one is coming to save you. It is up to you and only you to fulfill the destiny God put inside your heart. What's your favorite color? Orange What is your favorite movie? Man on Fire What is your favorite TV show? True Detective Season 1, of course! Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? Two Yorkie puppies: Stormy and Flurry What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Dublin, Ireland or Aruba What is your favorite food? Beef Tenderloin with all the accompanying sides. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? My favorite film director, Ridley Scott without a doubtl. He has done many incredible films, and since I belive that film acting is a director's medium, why not pick the brain of the most talente director in my eyes. What made you want to start acting? I have alwyas been an entertainer, whether that be in athletics all through high school, or the class clown on occassions. So to be paid to create art and entertain people at the same tie only seemed to be the reasonable answer. What is the most difficult thing about being an actor? Feeling that you do not control your destiny at times. There are so many chiefs in the kitchen when it comes to making a film, and it can be a powerless feeling when you are waiting on the phone to ring. This is exactly why I became a film producer as well. It allows me to control a higher percentage of my fate! The industry is full of rejection. What is your advice on how to handle it? I always remind myself why I got into this industry in the first place. I also remind myself of who I am, where I come from, and that it only takes one all to change your life forever. If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? I have always been drawn to historical epics like Gladiator, 300, Braveheart, and Troy. So it would absolutely be a story of a warrior and the battle for life he must go through. I am drawn to ordinary men doing extraordinary things and the motivation that person uses. It's truly fascinating. For your role in the Apple TV’s, Swagger, tell us about your character. How similar and different is he to your real personality? I am surprisingly very similar to this character. I have been a soccer coach before, and I am super competitive. When I got the script, I at least had an idea of how this character would function and proceed in certain situations. What has been your favorite moment on the set to date? There are too many to name, but consistently, I am overwhelmed with joy when a scene will call for a certain action, and I am beside myself with something that I did somewhere that the scene took us that we were not prepared for. It happens at least once a film it seems. In addition to acting, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I am a family man at heart, so whenever I am not working, I just love being home with all my girls. I have done some with with local animal shelters, and the Not Alone Foundation which focuses on people that struggle with end stage renal disease. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? Again too many to list but a fw would be Denzel Washington, Matthew McConaughey, Benicio del Toro, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, and Vanessa Kirby. How would you describe your fashion style? Athleasuere most of the time. I am not a fancy dresser, or a brand guy. A simple black shirt, with nice pants and boots is where I am most comfortable. Who are some of your favorite actors that you have worked with? Zac Effron, Sanna Lathan, Skyler Samuels, and James Gunn were all amazing. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into acting? It will take time. There are no short cuts. Ithink outside the box. Take risks. Have a think skin and a short memory of failure. Who would be your dream on screen collaboration and why? I think to be directed by Ridley Scott would be the pinnacle of my acting career. Again, the work he has done has changed my life, and in my opinion, he is the greatest director of all time. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? That I used to be an amateur MMA fighter back in college. Have you ever been bullied? Everyone has to one degree or another I think. Even the biggest, meanest bullies are probably bulled at home by mom or dad. I have been in my fair share of fist fights I will tell you. On most every occasion however, I was defending a weaker classmate or friend. One thing I do not abide by is someone taking advantage of a weaker individual. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? If you are getting bullied, next time it happens, punch or kick that bully as hard as you can in the nose. I promise you, that will stop they bullying. Sometimes unfortunately, violence is the only thinkg that will stop the violence in some cases. Use your power for good only, and never seek out a fight. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? Don't be distracted by being popular or cool. Stay true to yourself. Defend your vision at all costs, and remember why you are here on earth.
