Action Magazine 2024
It all started with Take Action Apparel & Gear. With first-hand knowledge that bullying has become a serious epidemic in schools across the nation, Gabriel L. Silva wanted to help give kids like him a voice! "I was a victim of repeated bullying. I am small for my age and kids would make fun of me for my size. Eventually, the verbal turned physical. I know that not everyone is going to like me, and I am actually okay with that. But disliking and mistreating someone physically, verbally, or emotionally for basically being different and not taking the opportunity to get to know them for who they are, is not okay. I had an opportunity to travel to LA for pilot season, when I came home, I found out that three of my friends had had an even harder time than I did at school. I knew what they were feeling, but I was helpless to help them. I wanted to do something. So, we got together with a group of experts and some really cool designers to create Take Action Apparel & Gear." Fast forward through time, and as a result of Take Action Apparel & Gear, Action Magazine was born, giving a worldwide platform for both adults and kids in the industry, who are passionate about taking a stance against bullying, a place to share their stories. Effects on children that either are the bully or that are being bullied go well beyond the school day and sometimes last a lifetime. Students who are bullied sometimes resort to suicide and the bullies often find themselves incarcerated by the time that they are adults. "Action Magazine is a great way to showcase amazing talent within the industry, while at the same time, giving them an opportunity to let kids know that they are not alone and help them to feel empowered. I found my voice through acting/modeling and practicing Tae Kwon Do, I stopped focusing on the negative and was able to discover the positive in me. If we help just one by sharing our stories, then Action Magazine is doing what we have created it to do."

What are five things that you can't live without? There really are no “things” I can’t live without. I can't live without my family and friends. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Live like you mean it! What's your favorite color? Purple What is your favorite movie? I am a filmmaker. Asking me what is my favorite movie is like asking who’s your favorite child, lol. What is your favorite TV show? My favorite shows now are The Bear and I can't help myself I LOVE watching peoples dreams come true. Obsessed with the American Idol and The Voice. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? No. I just travel too much it. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? We have so many but top 2 would be Italy and Siesta Key Florida. What is your favorite food? I appreciate a wide variety but I’m pretty basic, I love wings. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? God You are a multi-hyphenate talent: actor and producer. Let’s start with singing. How did you get started acting? I started doing musical theater and then straight plays. You have had many wonderful roles. What has been the one role that you relate to the most? Geri is my most relatable and favorite role. If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? I really feel the role of Geri is something I would have written for myself. In addition to acting, you are also a PGA producer. How did you become interested in producing? Producing developed by accident. I started out in independent film. It takes a lot of work and I was willing to to seek out talent, locations, negotiating catering and hotels. I was producing before I knew what it is. I enjoyed it and just kept on going! Now I’m very proud to be in the PGA. What is the one project that you have produced that you are the most proud of and why? Right now, I will say Bobcat Moretti. I am one of the Executive Producers. It stars Vivica A. Fox, Sally Kirkland and Tim Realbuto. I love this film because of its story and I feel like it is very inspirational. What is the one project that is on your wish list to produce? My husband is a race car driver and I actually run our race team. I don't just manage, I change tires and turn wrenches. I think one day producing a movie that gets, shows the heart of racing might be a possibility. When not making movies I eat, drink and sleep all things car racing!! In addition to all that you do, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I am very passionate about anti-bullying, volunteering for schools, film panels and mentoring young filmmakers. I am also passionate about car racing. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? This is always changing! Right now, I would say Julia Garner, Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, Emily Blunt oh, I could go on and on. I have so much respect for the range of roles they take on and their authenticity. They all do such a brilliant job of not acting roles but transforming into the characters. I feel as an actor watching any of their films in a master class in our craft. How would you describe your fashion style? Oh, this is an easy one. I would say I am edgy casual. You will always most likely find me in combat boots or sneakers! I am sneaker junkie. Who are some of your favorite people in the entertainment industry that you’ve worked with? I don’t have a favorite. I am grateful to anyone and everyone I work with. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into the world of entertainment? STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!! I would ask why? If it is to be famous do something else. It's just too hard unless you love it! You need to love it to get you through the rejection and all that goes with it. The love and passion will help you persevere If you are interested in the craft study. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? I don’t really have anyone dream collaboration. I just want to keep creating and trust the universe is putting me where I need to be. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I love to fish! Have you ever been bullied? Yes! I grew up very, very poor. I was in shelters and foster homes. So obviously I had to wear the same clothes and never had whatever the in thing was. Food was a luxury. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? I actually wrote , directed and produced an award winning short film on bullying titled “The New Weapon”. This film was used in schools and a program with the police for kids in trouble for bullying. After extensive interviews with both bullies and kids being bullied. My advice to anyone being bullied is tell someone, everyone don’t keep it a secret. Most kids being bullied feel like telling would make it worse. The second thing is going to sound so crazy! IT IS NOT PERSONAL! I’m sure your scratching your head thinking of course it's personal. It is not! They use personal things to hurt you but it is about them. Most bullies did not every think of the consequences like causing someone to kill themselves eventhough they can say they should kill themselves. Sadly most said the reason they bullied was to be funny and or cool to their friends. So sad…. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her? Interesting question. I would tell my future self, don’t worry about having regrets or missed life experiences. I am literally living every second exactly how my heart desires in all things. She will have peace in we fit in as much living as possible and loved so big! She will look back with pride in family relationships, accomplishments and touched many lives in a positive way.

Lucas Carvalho Lockwood is a professional Brazilian-born actor in Los Angeles with over 11 years of experience in film and TV. Acting became a considerable part of his life when he realized he loved story-telling and that he could utilize his craft to be the voice of so many whose stories wouldn't otherwise be told. Through film, he gets to challenge himself by portraying different characters with different backgrounds, which results in his learning something new about himself and his ability to connect with more people from different walks of life. He aspires to be a role model and inspiration to the current and future generations by leading by example, spreading love, and giving to those in need. As much as he loves acting, he finds joy in inspiring others to pursue their passions and never dreaming too small. He has volunteered, spoken, and performed on grand platforms such as FOX, HBO, Amazon Prime, Netflix, schools, children's hospitals, and nursing homes. He's also trained and worked alongside actors such as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Bruce Willis, Jean Smart, Morris Chestnut, Donald Faison, Abbie Cornish, Courtney Eaton, Rainey Qualley, and Leonardo Nam, just to name a few. Lucas has found himself training with the top acting coaches in Hollywood, such as Lesly Kahn, Annie Grindlay, and David Rountree, whose clients consist of Tiffany Haddish and Oscar-winning actors such as Remi Malek. The film industry is just one of the vessels Lucas is utilizing to inspire, touch, and breathe positivity into the world. A few of his hobbies include watching movies, playing sports, taking road trips, and being a Crossfit athlete. Action Magazine is honored to highlight this truly talented man. What are five things that you can't live without? Faith, Family, Community, Gym, Music What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Do what you can, then let go and let God. What is meant for you will never pass you. What's your favorite color? Green What is your favorite movie? Avenger's Infinity War/End Game What is your favorite TV show? New Girl / LOKI Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? An oversized Beta fish named Blu, because he's blue and eats like a champ. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Key West Florida because it's the southernmost part of the U.S. What is your favorite food? I love Brazilian barbecue with white rice and chicken salpicão. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? If I could have dinner with anyone in the world, it would be James Cameron. I admire his phenomenal ability to write compelling stories, produce and direct groundbreaking movies like Avatar & Titanic, and even create innovative technology to bring his visions to life. Learning from his extensive experience and creative genius would be an invaluable opportunity. What made you want to start acting? As a young child, I often stayed home and watched movies. Watching these stories took me out of my world and allowed me to see other on-screen characters who were going through some of the things I was going through, and watching how they overcame those hurdles gave me hope to find that for myself. After falling in love with storytelling, I wanted to be that person for others and tell compelling stories of hope and creativity that will take you out of your element for the length of that movie. What is the most difficult thing about being an actor? I would say the inconsistent shoot schedules, which sometimes start at 6 AM and then sometimes begin at 7 PM, ending at 5 AM.This makes it hard to make plans with friends and family, but I still get to do what I love, which makes it better. How do you prepare for auditions? What I do to prepare for an audition is quite fun. I sit in a comfy chair, take a piece of paper, and start interviewing my characters by asking 50-100 questions about them, their backstories, likes, dislikes, and goals. This allows me to understand my character better and justify all their actions and reactions. Then, I read the whole scene repeatedly until I've memorized it and felt connected to my character and his goals. I then create my world, the moment before and where I'm trying to get to, raising the stakes of my scenes and shooting my audition. The industry is full of rejection. What is your advice on how to handle it? Not getting a role we are excited about is a letdown for sure; however, after producing a series and having to be the casting director, I learned something that changed my perspective on the rejection of the industry. While casting, I saw many phenomenal actors who could all do the job beautifully. However, things like actor's availability, location availably, diversity, height difference, and necessary specialties almost forced your hand into picking someone when most of them could have done the job. This discovery showed me that it's not as much rejection but selection. We are all actors who can tell stories, but sometimes, casting needs someone who looks like they could be a child of the two leads, and therefore, they have to make those decisions. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with my ability but more with the creative choice they had to go with. This allowed me to believe in myself and trust that what is meant for me will come to me. All I have to do is do what I can and have control over, then let go and let God take care of the rest. You have had many wonderful roles. What has been the one role that you relate to the most? The role I relate to the most is Officer Callahan on the Netflix show S.W.A.T because I am the person who steps in to protect and keep everyone safe. Friends look to me as a big brother, always ready to lead and protect his family and friends, and that character required me to be that, which I absolutely enjoyed. If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? The role I would write for myself would be similar to that of Captain America. I feel the heart behind every decision he makes is full of wisdom and intention to better the other person. He is selfless and kind, full of righteous justice. I long to be that in real life as well as on screen. In addition to acting, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I am very passionate about creating community and personal growth. I love creating events that unite people, celebrate life, and develop friendships. Life can be lonely sometimes, but when we surround ourselves with a great community, we are built up and supported in ways we cannot do by ourselves. I also enjoy volunteering at my church, which allows me to pour back into a community that has given me hope and peace in life. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? It's a combination of Chris Pratt and Alan Ritchson. They both embody humor, kindness, and talent. They both play the superhero-type characters that I enjoy playing, but they also have compassion that is so needed in Hollywood. They are both big believers in faith, like myself, which will continue to take them far. How would you describe your fashion style? I'd say chic but also very rugged. I have days where I want to dress like the 1950s and some days where I want to dress like I can be ready for a hike in 2 min. Just depends on the vibe and temperature. Who are some of your favorite actors that you have worked with? I had such a wonderful time working alongside Jean Smart. She is a mastermind with a heart of gold. We had multiple times to connect about life, goals, and aspirations. She brought so much encouragement to me, giving me the hope that my career can be as meaningful and effective as hers. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into acting? Train, train, train. Learn as much as you can with coaches and online material. Fall in love with the craft of storytelling and give yourself grace and time. Success does not happen overnight, but those who are determined, hard-working, and perseverant will find their dreams coming true. Who would be your dream on screen collaboration and why? Tom Cruise is remarkable, and just like me, he is hard-working and dedicated, and he does his stunts. He is a master of details and does a phenomenal job telling captivating stories that leave you wanting more. Have you ever been bullied? Yes, I have experienced bullying. I moved from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to New Jersey when I was nine. My limited English proficiency made me a target for teasing and bullying, even from some of my teachers. The isolation and mistreatment became so severe that concerned classmates shared their observations with their families, ultimately necessitating a change in classrooms for me. Those initial months were incredibly tough, and I often found myself in tears both at school and at home. However, I eventually decided to take a step of faith and attempt to make friends. This effort paid off, as some of my peers saw beyond my struggles and welcomed me into their circle. This newfound sense of community and belonging was transformative, and I am still in touch with some of these friends. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? You are not alone. So many people are going through internal battles and sometimes don't know how to react to the built-up emotions inside, which can hurt others. Hurt people hurt people. Know that you belong, are enough, and that the best is yet to come. In life, we go through different seasons, and this phase of being bullied is all just a season. Know that the next season will be greater and better. Believe it because I do. That faith and trust, which is what I carry, have brought me such beautiful moments, memories, and friendships. So, never give up, and keep your head up. The best is yet to come.

Five things you can't live without? -Music production equipment – it's the core of what I do and my ultimate passion. -Headphones – for diving deep into sound, whether working or relaxing. -The ocean – going to the beach isn't just a hobby; it's a vital part of my life for inspiration and relaxation. -Family and friends – they keep me grounded and remind me what truly matters. -Art – exploring new visual inspirations keeps my creative juices flowing. Your life's motto or advice that you live by? Live authentically and let your passions lead you. Every experience is a vital part of your journey and contributes to your story. What's your favorite color? Turquoise – it reminds me of the ocean, which is both calming and powerful. What's your favorite movie? Inception – I love how it blends complex storytelling with stunning visuals, much like how I try to weave different elements into my music. What's your favorite TV show? Stranger Things – I'm drawn to its blend of mystery, nostalgia, and character depth, elements I appreciate in music as well. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? Yes, a Pomeranian named Zipper. She's been my loyal companion and a constant source of joy and inspiration. Your favorite place that you've traveled to? Amsterdam – The city’s incredible mix of tradition and cutting-edge modernity inspires my music's balance of classic and contemporary styles. What's your favorite food? Sushi – I love the artistry and precision involved, which parallels how I approach music production. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Hans Zimmer – his innovative approach to film scoring and his ability to evoke deep emotion through music would make for an enlightening conversation. I’d love to discuss his creative process and insights into music. You are an amazing DJ and Producer. Tell us how you got started doing both? I got started with DJing and producing after my first Ultra. I always loved EDM music but I didn't realize how much I did until after Ultra. I then made the decision to pick up music and I've been doing it ever since. I love it so much so I'm just always doing something regarding music. What is the most difficult thing about being in the music industry? I think getting exposure. There is so much talent nowadays that its difficult to emerge from these groups. I am very thankful for how my career has gone so far and I just hope it can keep trending upwards. Where do you find inspiration for your music? Honestly it comes from personal experience. What do you hope people take away from your music? Life is turbulent but you should always try to maintain a solid level of energy and drive because that is what will keep u going. You have a new project, “Sweetest Mistake,” tell us about this project. In one word, how would you describe your sound? "Sweetest Mistake" was a ton of fun to make. I am trying to refine my sound and find my own style and niche so that's what "Sweetest Mistake" was for me. Just me really getting into figuring out what kind of artist I want to be. My sound is: emotional. You also have a new project with the talented Liv Hanna. Tell us about “Endgame” in your own words. What is the one thing that you would say about Liv that she would be surprised to hear you say? "Endgame" was amazing because it came together so quickly. We wrote the lyrics for it all in one sitting and in terms of me producing the whole thing, my ideas just flowed really well and it only took a few sessions to finish it. It's different from the other stuff I make because it's slower and less high energy but that's also what I love about it. It's my favorite song that I have out so far would be something she'd be surprised to hear. In addition to music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? In addition to my dedication to music, I'm deeply committed to giving back to the community, particularly in areas related to environmental conservation and youth education. I've been involved in various initiatives that aim to clean up our oceans and beaches because seeing the direct impact of pollution on our natural habitats has motivated me to contribute positively. Who is your favorite musician and why? Armin Van Buuren is my favorite artist just because he's changed so much throughout the years and he's always been relevant. He's an amazing producer and he has so much versatility. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? My advice to young aspiring musicians is to stay curious and persistent. The music industry can be challenging, but it's important to keep learning and experimenting with your sound. Don’t be afraid to be different or try new things, because that's often where you'll find your unique voice. Also, connect with others who share your passion—collaboration and feedback are invaluable. Who would be your dream music collaboration and why? My dream collaboration would be with Martin Garrix. He's the top of the genre I mainly produce so working with him would not only be an incredible learning experience but also a chance to explore new creative dimensions within my own music. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? One thing most people don’t know about me is that I write poetry. It’s a personal outlet that helps me express my thoughts and emotions in a different form than music. It influences my songwriting subtly but significantly. Have you ever been bullied? Yes, during my school years, I faced bullying. It was a tough time, but it taught me resilience and empathy—qualities that I carry into my personal and professional life today. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? If you’re experiencing bullying, remember that it’s not a reflection of your worth but rather the bully’s insecurities. Speak up about it—talk to someone you trust like a teacher, parent, or friend. You’re not alone, and it’s crucial to build a support system around you. Also, engage in activities that build your confidence and surround yourself with people who uplift you. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? I would tell my future self to stay true to his roots and values, no matter the success or challenges encountered. Keep the passion for music alive and continue to inspire others. And always remember to enjoy the journey, embracing each moment with gratitude.

It’s about pulling one of your friends out of a breakup & being a hype woman for them & telling them it’s time to go out & have a good time! It truly represents me & my heart because I do that for my friends all the time, haha. In one word, how would you describe your sound? If I could describe my sound in one word it would be authentic because who I am as an artist is also me when I'm off stage. My songs are who I am to my core. In addition to music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? Other things I'm passionate about are animal rescues! I played in this charity event to raise donations for the Birmingham Humane Society for years & I just played one for the Nashville Humane Society! I am such an animal lover & it truly brings me joy blending those two worlds! Who is your favorite musician and why? My favorite musician is Sam Hunt! It’s because he came onto the country music scene with a different vibe & said things in such a cool way lyrically. He will always be a stand out in this industry because he’s so unique. How would you describe your fashion style? My fashion style is Urban Street style with a hint of Cowgirl in it. Who are some of your favorite musicians that you have worked with? I haven’t gotten to work with any other Country artists but all the incredible musicians who played on my record & play in my band are phenomenal & make my music sound amazing!! What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? The advice that I would give to kids wanting to break into music is to never give up! Keep pursuing your dream if this is really what you wanna do & there can't be a plan B! Who would be your dream music collaboration and why? My dream collaboration would probably be Charlie Puth! I admire his creativity & how he is always doing out of the box things! What is one thing that nobody knows about you? One thing no one knows about me is that I have a twin brother who is also a musician! Have you ever been bullied? Yes I have been bullied. As a kid, I hated it & wondered what I did to deserve that kind of treatment. Looking back on it though, I feel grateful for that experience as it has taught me a lot of lessons about people & character. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? My advice to kids suffering from bullying is that if you see someone getting harassed, say something. Be a friend. We have so much negativity in the world & you don’t know what that kid might be going through at home. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her? If I could talk to my future self, I'd tell her to be present & enjoy every step of this journey because sometimes I can get ahead of myself & think of the next goals instead of soaking up what’s happening right now.

I would say managing the demands of school and acting at the same time. You have had many wonderful roles. What has been the one role that you relate to the most? Probably the role of Katy McNichols for Blue Bloods. I played the daughter of Captain Paula McNichols. There are certain things I relate to in this role. Katy cares about being academically success in school, she likes to compete, and she’s close to her mom! If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? I would write a protagonist role for myself in a horror movie! Not only do I enjoy watching horror movies, but acting in one, it would be so fun!! You are also a model. Tim Burton! He’s unique in his storytelling and I love his interesting style, spooky movies, and vibe. I would love to play one of his characters! My favorites are Wednesday, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, and as I mentioned earlier, Coraline. I just love his vibe! Also, Meryl Streep because her role in Mama Mia blew me away! Watching her up close would bring endless learning. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I am extremely claustrophobic, and I dream of skydiving! Have you ever been bullied? Yes, I've experienced bullying before, like many others growing up. This included cyberbullying, name-calling, and insults. Luckily, I've never faced physical bullying. What are five things that you can't live without? Alexandra: My dog Gypsy, the color orange, fantasy books, my eyelash curler, and CT (not just because he said me too ;) CT: Alexandra, coffee, music, flip flops, and sunglasses… in that order. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Alexandra: Hugs make everything better. CT: Spend time making yourself proud by doing the work, instead of trying to impress other people. Hard work will always speak for itself. What's your favorite color? Alexandra: ORANGE!!! CT: I’m pretty partial to red, but I kinda blame that on her ;) What is your favorite movie? Alexandra: Harry Potter… I have a real problem. I’m a total nerd, and pretty much always have these movies on repeat while I’m throwing pottery in my clay studio. CT: Ooh, that’s tough. I‘m kind of a Marvel movie junkie (Guardians of the Galaxy being my favorite), but deep movies like What Dreams May Come, and Sci-Fi always seem to reel me in. What is your favorite TV show? Alexandra: Well, I was weirdly obsessed with Golden Girls for my entire life, but recently, I can’t stop watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It’s a problem. If you haven’t watched it, you need to start today. CT: I have a lot. Battlestar Galactica being a huge one, but recently I really enjoyed Peacemaker (what a wild show!), and 3 Body Problem really blew my mind. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? Alexandra: Oh I think anyone who knows us, or follows us online is familiar with our little 5- pound “Chill-huahua”,Gypsy. She’s a huge, bright part of our lives, and she travels with us everywhere. In, fact she has an Irish passport, and has even been on a gondola in Italy (not spoiled at all). She’s always happy, and loves adventures even more than we do. If you want to see all her crazy travels, go follow the hashtag #itsybitsygypsy and her instagram at it's, @bitsy.gypsy. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? That’s a tough because we travel A LOT, and we always equate the places we have been to the people we have met. Scotland, England, Netherlands have some of the greatest humans on earth, and the U.S. Virgin Islands have become a second home for us where we truly feel like family. So much so, that we centered our new record “Better Together” and 2 new music videos completely around the USVI. We’ve been know to perform over 100 shows out there each winter, and it never ceases to amaze us the amount of support we receive, and the friends we have made all over the world because of it. What is your favorite food? Alexandra: Tequila, lol CT: Coffee, lol If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Each other. We like our down time off of the road. And with such a busy schedule, we go into hermit mode a lot on our days off. We’re both fairly quiet and calm in our private life, which surprises a lot of people. What made you want to start singing? Alexandra: Music has always been my outlet, and safe place for all of my thoughts and feelings. I started writing songs and singing them to my dog when I was 9-years-old. I never thought I would become a professional singer, but music and breathing are one and the same for me. CT: I started singing at 13-years-old in my first rock band. We were TERRIBLE, but it was a ton of fun. I was in chorus, and wrote a lot of poetry, so music was just all I ever wanted to do. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? Alexandra: Taking the time to rest. When everything relies on your voice, you really have to baby it more than you want. But it’s disastrous if you don't. CT: Getting sleep. Most people think performing 200+ shows and 15 countries is a perfect pampered life, but it’s a ton of work, and a lot of sleepless nights. You have to plan things out a year in advance, and you have to drive, fly, load in, load out, and perform each one of those shows. Plus, if you’ve ever tried to drive a tour vehicle on the narrow roads in Europe around a giant Lorry, in a place where you can’t read the signs, in a vehicle where you are on the opposite side of the car, driving on the opposite side of the road, clutching left handed… it’s not for the faint of heart. Where do you find inspiration for your music? I think inspiration is all around you. Life gives us plenty of inspiration, and if you are being authentic, then you write about your own personal experiences, or the things you see the people you love going through. What do you hope people take away from your music? We hope they take away Hope. We’re always trying to put something positive out into the world and unify people, so I hope people really feel that with our music. Whether it’s an escape, a support system, or just a good time, we hope people feel welcome, and like they can just be themselves at our shows. You have a new record coming out, “Better Together,” tell us about this project? With "Better Together," we wanted to take the best songs that we have written to date, and make a true duo record. That’s why we gave it the title. We wanted to say that we are better as songwriters, human beings, and as a couple because of each other. And we really wanted to showcase that. We count our blessings every day that we get to create music together, and on the scale that we do now. And without sounding trite, we think "Better Together" is the best thing we have ever written or recorded, and we are crazy excited about its release. It was a ton of work, and years in the making. And ultimately, since we’re always trying to put something positive out into the world, maybe with this release, we are hoping for some small reminder to everyone out there that despite our differences and unique perspectives, we are all Better Together. In one word, how would you describe your sound? Alexandra: Ridiculous CT: Honest In addition to music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? Alexandra: I have a pottery company as well (instagram.com/potterymouthstudios) that I absolutely love. It’s one of the other biggest passions in my life. And I am a huge advocate for rescue animals. There are a lot of little angels out there that need our help, and I’m always trying to do my part. All of our pets have been rescues and it kills me to think what their lives could have been like had we not rescued them. Gypsy was destined to be a breeder dog who never left her cage. When we first got her she was even afraid of grass! Now, she is a genuine explorer and hauls me up mountains in her pursuit of adventure. I want every little special soul to find their people and be spoiled the way they all deserve. CT: I love graphic design, and I’m a huge literary buff. I’m not as much a book reader, as I am a writer, and constant creator. Whether it’s songwriting, poetry, or even philosophy, I just always have thoughts and words pouring out of me. I always hope that the things I write help other people in their lives as well. Who is your favorite musician and why? Alexandra: Dolly Parton, I love her honesty in her songs. She isn't afraid to bear her soul, or to laugh at herself too. Being at a concert of hers is an experience I think everyone should have. She makes you feel loved and like you know her personally. Plus, she is HILARIOUS! I also love that she has done so many meaningful things for others with her fame, time, and money. She's the real deal all the way around, and a huge inspiration to me. CT: I’m so eclectic with music, but I‘m a huge fans of songwriters in general, and I love when a good writer breaks out. Some of my favorites are Lori McKenna, Ashley McBryde, and Hardy. But, I’m sure I’ll think of 1000 more that I’ll kick myself for right after I send this interview. How would you describe your fashion style? Alexandra: Eclectic. I LOVE color! I love a good flowy skirt or dress that dances in the wind. The same way when I was a little girl. I’m a tom boy at heart, but I love a pretty dress. haha. CT: Saltwater Cowboy. I’m originally born as a in Jacksonville Florida, and I always seem to follow the sun and water, so I guess this makes a lot of sense. Who are some of your favorite musicians that you have worked with? Every Nashville session player and musician we have ever played with is our favorite musician. Because of the commonality, and size of the industry as a whole in Nashville, amazing players often don’t get the credit they deserve. But they’ve worked their entire lives for the skills to perform and create the way they do. Just look at the talent of the musicians performing on our new record, or the musicians we share the stage with every night. We’re always in awe of every one of them. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? Don’t be afraid to be terrible. You can’t get good without being bad first. So get out there, leave your ego at the door, and just strive to get better every single day at your craft. Who would be your dream music collaboration and why? Alexandra: Brothers Osbourne. I love their style and vibe, and they are INSANE live. I just think we would have so much fun. CT: I think Kenny Chesney or Zac Brown. They both seem to be down to earth guys that I really identify with musically. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? Alexandra: I’m a pretty open book, so what you see is what you get with me. CT: I’m pretty quiet at first, but I’m a total jokester once I really get to know someone. Have you ever been bullied? Alexandra: In college I had my first experience with real bullying. It was not the kind I ever expected, it was sneaky and manipulative. A girl decided that she was going to make my life a living hell by spreading lies about me to everyone and anyone, and I still don’t understand the reason. It was so frustrating to feel like even trying to explain myself would make me look guilty of the things she said. It was miserable, but I just kept being myself and eventually everyone realized she was lying… and crazy. Still, it ruined a lot of my college experience for sure. CT: I grew up as the middle child of 5 kids to a single mother, and my dad passed when I was very young. Not that it was ever any of our faults, but we were VERY poor, and we had to move a lot. I was bullied harshly everywhere I went because I didn’t have the latest clothing, gadgets, or couldn’t afford to do the things other kids could. But the truth is that we were lucky to have food on the table, and clothes to wear at all. Kids were cruel, and they never knew what I was going through. It was very tough. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? Alexandra: Keep being yourself. Don't let someone else determine who you are because of whatever reason they have for not liking you. When I was little, my Nana used to say about people who were mean for no reason, “say a prayer for them, they must really be hurting to be acting the way they do.” I believe she was right, it's always about what's going on with THEM, and not really about YOU. CT: You don’t have to be a victim just because you are bullied. The future is yours, and you can make it whatever you choose. You might have to work a lot harder than everyone else to do so, but just means you are stronger. I got picked on for being poor, so I got my first job picking corn at 5 am in the morning, walked to my friend’s farm to bail hay on the weekends, and stocked shelves at the local grocery store at night. I got enough money to buy my own bicycle to get to work, my own clothes, then my own car, and so on, and so on. One day, the people who make fun of you will look up to you, if anything, for your strength and the sense of compassion that only being humbled in life can give you. Do you, and never stop. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her/him? It’s been a long crazy road, but we did our best, and we had fun doing it!

What are five things that you can't live without? My music, my dog, and money, to name a few. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Try to appreciate the little victories/successes on the way to reach your goal. It's all good to be super focused on the end result, I used to be like that, full tunnel vision. But If you don't learn to celebrate the little successes on the way, you'll always be disappointed and depressed. Like they say "the journey is the reward". What's your favorite color? Blue, always has been, don't know why, but yeah. What is your favorite movie? That's a tough one, I like a lot of movies but if I was to choose one it would Drive with Ryan Gosling. That movie and it's soundtrack were a huge inspiration on my music and style. Someone even gifted me a replica of the scorpion jacket for my birthday a few years back. What is your favorite TV show? All time favorite TV show is The Sopranos". I rewatched the whole series recently and it hasn't aged at all! That and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David is my spirit animal. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? I have a dog. A pomeranian named Louis. He's 6-years-old and he's the most adorable thing in the world. People always think I got him because he's a "chick magnet" but in my experience everyone is too obsessed with him to even pay me any mind, hahaha. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? My favorite place is definitely Tokyo, Japan. I can't wait to go back there. It's always so inspiring. Coming back to Europe or the U.S. after being there for a few weeks feels like going back to the stone ages. What is your favorite food? Pretty much anything in Japanese or Peruvian cuisine. What made you want to start singing? I grew up in a classical music household. I started taking piano lessons at an early age, but eventually shifted to electric guitar because I was more into rock music as a kid. Then, I discovered samplers and drum machines and got into beatmaking. After spending over a decade as a producer, I decided to start my own project "Solarrio", where I could focus more on the kind of music I wanted to make. And that's what got me started as a lead vocalist. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? It depends. There were different challenges for me as a producer than there are as an artist. It's definitely more difficult as an artist because you have to put yourself out there. You have to have thick skin because you will face a lot of criticism, rejection and some people will crumble under the pressure. So one of the most difficult things is to drown out all the noise and keep going/following your vision. Where do you find inspiration for your music? I find lyrical inspiration in relationships with people, daily situations, conversations. Musically, I'm mostly inspired by 70's and 80's funk and R&B music. Prince is one of my idols. What do you hope people take away from your music? My goal is to give you good vibes, good energy, motivation. Maybe it's something you can relate to, maybe the music is an escape. Either way, I want you to feel something when you hear the music. You have a new project, “All The Wrong Places,” tell us about this project? "All The Wrong Places" is my debut album. It's a culmination of all my experiences; musical and personal; a gumbo of sorts. I really wanted to bring back that feel-good energy and sound of 1980's Pop and R&B, but mix it with modern production. The theme of the album is "Looking for love in all the wrong places". That can be romantic love, career success or anything. In one word, how would you describe your sound? Retrofuturisticelectrofunkpop In addition to music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I've always been very supportive of young and up-and coming artists. I've mentored a few that went on to do great things. I'm very focused on building a platform for myself and artists that I want to help out. The music industry is very predatory and I want to use all my knowledge to help young musicians avoid all the pitfalls. Who is your favorite musician and why? Prince, by far. Because he played so many instruments, he was a writer, producer, performer and so much more. And the way he was able to go from one genre to the other without letting anyone put him in a box. How would you describe your fashion style? 1980's dope boy fresh. Who are some of your favorite musicians that you have worked with? As a Hip-Hop producer, I got to work with one of my favorite rappers of all time, Kool G Rap. That was a bucket list moment. As far as an artist, I have yet to collaborate with some of my favorite musicians. But so far my favorite is my bro Holland Izz. We did a song together for my album,"NLF" and it was definitely a career highlight. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? Be true to yourself and know why you want to get into this business in the first place. You have to have a serious love and passion for music because if you're only in it for the money or fame you will be very disappointed. Who would be your dream music collaboration and why? Charlie Wilson. From Gap Band until now his voice is still magical and I would love to work with him. He's also one of the last guys still around from that generation. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I'm a pretty good cook. Have you ever been bullied? Yes I have. One of my first bullies ended up trying to work with me when he found out I made music years later, tried to be all friendly all of a sudden. There were also certain situations in the music industry. Things I haven't been able to fully process until now to be honest. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? That's a tough one because kids nowadays are dealing with a lot more online and in the real world. As far as online bullying, you can always block people and not engage with them. Don't give them the attention they crave. As far as in the real world, it's more complicated. My first instinct would be to confront your bullies, stand up to them, but that might not be the best advice in all situations. It's a tough world out there, and bullying doesn't stop when you finish school. Develop a thick skin, surround yourself with positive people and energy. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? I'm proud of you for sticking to it and not giving up.

Drawn to music from an early age due to his father’s strong belief & encouragement, country music artist Jagger Whitaker began his musical journey behind a drum kit. He learned to play the drums alongside his dad, who worked tirelessly to spark a flame of inspiration for a young Jagger to explore music. Jagger’s father would often bring guitars back from work trips & gift them to Jagger with the hope that he would one day begin to play. That day came upon his father’s passing when Jagger was only ten years old. The realization of the depth of his father’s belief in Jagger was his motivation to chase the dreams his dad had envisioned. By watching YouTube & learning basic chords, Jagger wrote his first song “See You in Heaven” as a tribute to his father. Having cut his teeth leading worship in his youth group, Jagger began to feel at home on stage & develop his authentic stage presence. He then began his collegiate career at the University of South Alabama, where he rocked stages in local Mobile, AL bars. These performances continued feeding Jagger’s passion for live shows & furthered his fanbase. The Mississippi-native has concocted a unique sound blending the contemporary Nashville sound with old-school rock‘n’roll. Having opened for country music acts, like Tyler Farr & Jon Langstan, Jagger is based out of Nashville, Tennessee & actively recording his original music. Jagger’s hopes are to bring audiences of all kind together. Action Magazine had the extreme pleasure to catch up with this amazingly talented musician to get to know him better and we are extremely glad that we did! Check out his interview and don’t forget to follow him on Instagram. You don't want to miss out on what he is up to next!

What are five things that you can't live without? A car, music, PS5, my bed, and my sunglasses. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Have patience and persistence. Nothing is going to happen in a day. What's your favorite color? Depending on the day, it changes from orange, blue, black, white, yellow, pink, and purple. It’s weird, but that’s my honest answer. What is your favorite movie? I have too many favorites to count, but right now, I’d have to say any of the Harry Potter series is my favorite movie. What is your favorite TV show? Right now, a TV show called, The Boys. Do you have any pets?If so, what kind and what's their name? I don’t have any pets currently because I am too busy with filming, but hopefully, I'll be able to get a dog one day. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? My favorite place I’ve traveled to so far has to be New York. What is your favorite food? My favorite food is definitely between Chinese and Italian food. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? If I could have dinner with anyone in the world, it’d have to be Billie Eilish because I feel like she would match my energy and we would have really unhinged convos. What made you want to start acting? I didn’t have any drive or passion for acting before I started. I was approached and asked if I had acted or wanted to begin. I definitely hadn’t done it before, but my mom and some friends talked me into doing it, and sure enough, it stuck. What is the most difficult thing about being an actor? If you weren’t acting, what would you see yourself doing? The most difficult thing about acting in my opinion would be how much time it consumes, even though it is worth it to perfect the craft. If I weren’t acting, I’d continue to pursue music full-time, TV Writhing, and find a use for my criminal justice degree. For your role in the Apple TV+, Swagger, tell us about your character. How similar and different is he to your real personality? I play Royale Hughes, a subpar basketball player from a wealthy family who battles with the stress of dyslexia and to fit in on his basketball team. Two things Royale and I have in common are that we both have dyslexia and have dealt with some form of discrimination because of the class of our families, and we differ in every other way. What has been your favorite moment on the set Swagger? I have had many great moments working on Swagger, but one of my favorites has to be “The Prom Scene” because I’ve never experienced prom in real life. The same goes for most of my cast mates. Our schedules were far too busy to attend or finish in-person school, so we all had to take online classes. Filming on the show was in a way our high school. You have another exciting role that on Tubi’s, Rock the Boat 2. tell us about your character. What is the most relatable aspect of your character on this project?I I play Durell Webber, son of Julian Webber and the older brother of Kaleb Webber. Durrell came to finish the job his father had laid out that his brother couldn’t. He is tasked with getting close to Millie and her friends to keep her from remembering the truth, which includes the truth about his brother Kaleb. To do this, Durell has to put on the persona of a charming, non-threatening, neat freak who talks way too much until he needs to get his hands dirty and reveal who he really is. The most relatable aspect of my character to everyone else would have to be his wanting to please his father by any means necessary. What has been your favorite moment on the set Rock the Boat 2? My favorite moment of being on the set of Rock The Boat 2 has to be getting to know my costars, who over a short amount of time become my family, and we’ve had nothing but fun working on this project together. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? I have too many favorite actors/actresses. Still, a bunch of my favorites, from the top of my head, out of order, would be Chadwick Bozeman, Hugh Jackman, Andrew Garfield, Grant Gustin, Dylan O’Brien, Denzel Washington, Robert Downey Jr., Angela Bassett, Daniel Kaluuya and many more. They are my favorites because, in one way or another, they’ve each inspired me in their perspective, films, and series. How would you describe your fashion style? My style is very adaptable. I have no one set way of dressing. From suits to streetwear, I can rocket all It just depends on the occasion. So, in other words, I like what I like. Who are some of your favorite actors that you have worked with? Some of my favorite actors I’ve gotten the pleasure of working with are Jamie Foxx, O'Shea Jackson Junior, Emmy Rosem, Beyoncé, Reese Witherspoon, and Carrie Washington. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into acting? The advice I’d give other kids who want to pursue acting would be the same advice I was given: patience and persistence. “The role that’s meant for you will come. You just have to wait on it and, in the meantime, work and hone your craft”. Who would be your dream on screen collaboration and why? My dream on-screen collaboration would have to be Denzel Washington. For the longest time in my head, I have made working with him my “I made it” moment. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? One thing that I don’t think anyone knows about me is actually a three-way tie between my first ever role being Showtime's Shameless, having dyslexia, and that I'm Nigerian. Have you ever been bullied? When I was a kid, I was verbally bullied for my music I made. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? My advice to kids experiencing bullying is to tell a teacher or an adult. Nothing is going to change if you don’t speak up. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? Probably nothing because he’s already experienced everything I have.

Mall and came within one block of the White House. What is your favorite food? I enjoy eating spicy foods, and homemade desserts like a Pzookie. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Lebron James because he is my role model and idol. You are a “Kid CEO.” Tell us how you got started in general as an entrepreneur? I started my “Loved & Protected" foundation when I was 4-years-old, and I told my mom that I wanted to help kids who don’t have a mom and/or dad and kids who need a little help. I wrote my first book to let kids know they were Loved and Protected, based on Psalms 23. Its title is, “Caden’s Prayer”. It’s about a little boy who conquered fear. Next, I started collecting hats, scarves, and gloves to give back to kids who needed them. My mom and auntie supported and helped me start my foundation. Now we know how you got started, tell us more about your company, "Loved and Protected". “Loved and Protected” is a nonprofit organization. One of my main goals is to give to children in the Foster Care and/or children whose families have been affected by homelessness and those who need a little help. Every year,I donate hats, scarves and gloves and I want to spread the message that, “You are Loved and Protected”. We collect donations throughout the year and give them out during the winter time. What has been the hardest part about being an entrepreneur? The hardest is getting enough hats ,scarves, and gloves to give because the need is always great. Always trying to meet the need and how to grow and fund a nonprofit. Every year we meet as a family to discuss our plan and new ideas to get the message out to help as many children as possible. What has been the most rewarding? The most rewarding part is having the opportunity to hand out all the donationsto children and seeing their faceslight up. That is the best feeling! How does your business look now as opposed to when you first started? When I first started I was 4.5-years-old and I didn’t understand all the work that needed to be done. The first place I gave back was at my local elementary school. We received donations from my family and friends then we hand delivered those items to the school. We have gone from collecting 200 items to a few thousand items each year. We still hand deliver the items, however, now we have more volunteers besides my entire family & friends. How do you hope to see your business grow in the future? As a non-profit organization, ultimately, I want to give back and distribute across our state and eventually the entire country. In addition to my book, I’d like to create products that bring joy and comfort to give out to children and teenagers transiting through different phases of life hardships. Whether in the hospital, foster care system, homeless shelter and really encourage them with my message from Psalms 23, That they are Loved and Protected. What is the one thing that you hope people take away/remember about your brand? It represents the power of giving back. “Loved and Protected” is a promise and gives hope to children who don’t have moms and dads and those in need of a little help. Additionally, you are an author. What made you want to become an author? Tell us more about your project! My first book is about me when I was little and suffered nightly with night terrors or some call it nightmares. My mom started reading me Psalms 23 every night and I would repeat it back to her. One night my mom asked me what is the meaning of the scripture to me and I said, “It means that I am "Loved and Protected”. That night, I was able to go back and sleeping my own bed. I have had lots of people share with me how this book helped their child in the same way. My next project that is coming out later this year is a book about the first 10 years of my life. In addition to being an entrepreneur and author, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? Charity work and volunteering to help the work continue. I share with others how important it is to do, so others will be encouraged to do the same. Recently,I had the opportunity to speak with children in school about the Love and Protected Foundation and how they can give back and volunteer as well. Simply, I believe that If you help others God will help you. Currently, I have a podcast “Shepherds Speak” where I talk to entrepreneurs, philanthropist, and natural givers” like myself. I interview them and we talk about why they give and how giving can change our world. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? Will Smith, I really loved the movie, Bad Boys all of them. How would you describe your fashion style? Athletic gear mixed with some stylish pieces. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? Keep the passion and keep persevering. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? As Fredrick Douglas says, “I will connect with anyone to do right and no one to do wrong.” What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I love to travel. Have you ever been bullied? I've had people too challenge me and I have witnessed others being bullied. What is your advice to kids thatare suffering from bullying? Tell your parents, don’t keep it a secret when others are not being kind. If you could talk to your past self, what would you tell him? Keep going, keep your headup. Remember that you are Loved and Protected! Be yourself everyone else is taken. Lastly, my elementary school teacher has always encouraged me to, “Choose Strong”! Basically, do what is best for you!

Action Magazine had the extreme pleasure to catch up with this phenomenal talent to get to know them better and we are so glad that we did. What are five things that you can't live without? Family, phone, fun, traveling, & friends What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Work Hard Play Harder! Submit & Forget! What's your favorite color? Nuri: Pink & White Navali: Yellow What is your favorite movie? There are so many awesome one's, we cannot choose just one! What is your favorite TV show? Family Reunion Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? No pets, but we did have a bunny that we we miss. Her name was Snow Ruby. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Nuri: Florida is my favorite, because it has the best Theme Parks and lots of water, like beaches and waterparks. Navali: Arizona, because we went exploring and we went fishing for the 1st time. What is your favorite food? Nuri: Seafood is my favorite food. Navali: I love Frog Legs. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Nuri: Olivia Rodrigo because I like her music, and maybe we could play her songs at dinner. Navali: My dad’s mom, because I never met her and I would like to. And I would want the dinner to be her cooking, because I always how hear how great of a cook she is. What made you want to start acting? When we were 4-years-old we were hired as extras for a FX TV show called Atlanta, it was our first time, we couldn’t wait to watch it. When it finally aired we stayed up past our bedtime to watch it. Even though it’s a TV show for adults, our parents said they would call us downstairs to watch only our part, and guess what? Our scene was cut in production. We were so upset. That’s when Nuri said that she wants to have her own show and Navali said “yes a show all about us!” What is the most difficult thing about being an actor? The hardest part is redoing the scenes over and over and over again! Even if it’s hot outside. You have had many wonderful roles. What has been the one role that you relate to the most? Disney was the most relatable, because we weren’t acting like anyone else but ourselves. We had to explore Disney with our real family. We’ve been to Disney many times but it felt like the first time because we got to see Disney behind the scenes. If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? Nuri: It would be like a new version of It Takes Two or even the Parent Trap. I’d also like to play an evil adopted sister. Navali: I would be a really smart little girl kind of like Matilda. You are also a model. Tell us how you got started modeling? Our grandmother (Glamz) has a children’s clothing line it’s called The House of ZennKejo. ZennKejo stands for all of the first initials of her grandchildren, (well at the time, now she has more 10 grands altogether), but yup we started modeling her clothing line first. Who has been your favorite brand to work with? Who is on your wish list and why? DISNEY! Nuri’s wish is to work with Ulta on a Kids SelfCare line Navali’s wish is to work with Starbucks because she would get to test taste all of the latest drinks. In addition to acting and modeling, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? We love to giveback, it fills us with joy to know that other children and families can benefit from our help. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? Zendaya because she’s our Celebrity Doppelganger. How would you describe your fashion style? Nuri: I am a Y2K slash Retro type of girl. Navali: I like to be comfy and cute, but our Glamz is our stylist so we just rock whatever she sends for us. She knows what we like so she keeps us in mind as she shops. Who are some of your favorite actors that you have worked with? We actually love to work with other kid actors. We love meeting other children who are also chasing their dreams and becoming life long friends. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into acting and modeling? Expect to get callbacks but also expect not to get called back, and that’s OK! Be sure to learn from every role you set out for. Our motto is to Submit and Forget. Once we submit for a role we forget about it, if it comes back that’s amazing, but if it doesn‘t we already forgot about it. Who would be your dream on screen collaboration and why? Halle Bailey and Zendaya, that would make a great Dream Team. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? Nuri: I’m the oldest by one minute, shhh, don’t tell anyone. Navali: I’m very emotional, shhh, don’t tell anyone. Have you ever been bullied? Yes, we had a girl in our school that would hit us & we would never hit her back like we were taught to. We were in the kindergarten, so we don’t know why she was so violent, but anyway our grandmother was visiting us and picked us from school that day. When she found out she drove us straight to a kids boxing camp. We learned to defend ourselves, but we still never resort to hitting. What is your advice to kids that are suffering from bullying? If it is just words, just ignore the hate. You have something that they don have, keep on shinning. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her? Nuri: Keep having fun in everything that you do. If it’s not fun, stop doing it. Navali: I am going to make it & be nice to yourself when you are trying your best.

What are five things that you can't live without? Five things that I can't live without are number one, my wife and family, number two, the gym, number three would be teaching, number four, spicy sauce for everything, and number five, would be entertainment. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Make bold choices. If you want to stand out, you can't do the same thing everybody else is doing. What's your favorite color? Black What is your favorite movie? Terminator 2 What is your favorite TV show? Black Mirror Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? I have a bunny rabbit named Pepe and he is five-years-old. He is black and white and kind of looks like a skunk, that's why hes "Pepe," "Pepe Le Pew." I used to have a hedgehog also but she passed away a few years ago. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? When I was a student and lived with my parents, I had the opportunity and blessing to visit Europe a few times. One of my favorite places that we visited was Ireland. Dublin was really really cool. What is your favorite food? My favorite food is breakfast. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Nelson Mandela. I think that it would be real interesting to learn about the things that he lived through. What made you want to be an actor? I got into acting late in the game. When I was in high school, I did theater for school credit because I had to. I really wanted to be a musician back then. I wanted to be like the Mexican Kurt Cobain. I played guitar and I used to be in all of these bands. When I lived in Monterrey, I was in a band that was moderately successful. That was my dream, but my high school theater teacher told my mom to try and convince me to go into acting and I didn't want to listen. Time passed, and I moved here to the states and I was working in healthcare in the marketing department, in sales. And, one day, I just woke up and was like I'm going to see if I can get a weekly acting class just for fun. I started taking classes and my instructor told me that I should go and get an agent, and I remembered my high school teacher and thought, maybe I was just too hard headed to actually see if there was really any talent there at that time. I thought I am not going to be a rock star at my age now, and I came to Page Parkes and it has been a great blessing and surprise for me. What is the most difficult thing about acting? The most difficult thing about acting is also what I think is the most enjoyable. It is preparation. I think that you have to do your homework to portray the character and find out what motivates the character, etc. If you do your homework and prepare, then you will make the right choices for the role. You are also a producer/director. What has been your favorite project to direct/produce and why? Great question! I do wear many hats, I do photography, video and all of that stuff, and I was planning my first short film this year before Coronavirus came and halted plans. I had my crew, the actors, etc. Everything was planned for late April, and of course we had to postpone everything. That was going to be my first time directing. So, while we were on lockdown, I was gong crazy not doing anything. That sparked an idea. I was like what would happen if we had to stay inside for two years? That is how CupID-19 came about. I filmed it from home, on Zoom, with a couple of friends who are actors and we put out this funny, feel-good, short. We submitted it to some film festivals as an experimental film festivals already. CupID-19 is my favorite project right now because that is the first one that I have ever directed, written, edited, etc. Additionally, you are also a model. How did you get started modeling? That is a great question and the answer is...I still don't know! (lol) When I first started taking acting classes, I also started this fitness journey. While I was on my journey, my fitness coach said that I should try and do a body building show. I thought it would be a good objective to help me on my journey. So, I took it as a challenge and lost weight and now when I see my pictures from a few years ago, I cannot believe what I see. During the competition I learned how to walk and about my shape. When I started working with Page Parkes, a couple of times, they hired me to be a model. I was like are you sure? I guess modeling started because I started looking healthier and in good shape for my age. What other things are you are passionate about (organizations, charities, etc.)? Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? For me, teaching has been super important because I feel that I can reach out to my students. And one of the things that I have seen, especially in today's climate, I have seen my own students becoming activists. I try to follow along their paths and try to help amplify their voices and concerns. Young people are our future because they are not afraid to be vocal. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? Ever since I was a kid, I have liked Natalie Portman. Watching her grow in her performance, she's great. As for actors, I like Robert Downey, Jr. Aside from the superhero movies, he's done a lot of great projects too. How would you describe your fashion style? It's gone from basic rocker-want-to-be to a little bit more stylish. I would consider my style "in training." I'm still learning about my style. I guess the official answer is that my style is evolving. Who are some of your favorite designers/actors that you have would like to work with in the future? I would definitely love to meet and work with Matthew McCaughey. I think he is great. He seems like a genuine, down-to-earth guy. What advice would you give other kids that want to break into the business? My advice always to my students is for them to make bold choices, But in general, whether it is acting, business, or whatever they want to do, I would tell them that if that is what you really want to do, then go for it and don't listen to people who want to change your mind or don't support you because otherwise we can spend all of our lives in a job that we don't like and always wondering, "what if". What film would your dream film be to create and why? I have a script that I wrote during quarantine and it is kind of a detective film set in a small Texas town. Right now, I think that that is the perfect film because I love the story and the characters. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? There was this one time when I was a student, I got to travel to Russia and we went to a McDonald's. We all looked at the menu and it was in Russian. So I asked for a chicken burger, but no one really spoke English, so I mimicked being a chicken. The whole restaurant started laughing. My friends started laughing at me, but I was the only one who got what they actually wanted and ordered. Have you ever been bullied? Yes, when I was a kid. I got teased over the size of my nose. There was this kid who called me Pinocchio. But, my mom noticed and at night she would tell me how much she loved my nose. That eased my reaction to it because I was like I don't know why they are making fun of me because my mom says my nose is fine. What advice would you give to kids who have been bullied? Don't give them that power because you can't control what people say to you or about you, but you can always control how you react to it. When you take that power away from them, then they cannot do anything to you. Second, talk to your parents or teacher. Don't stay quiet, and ask for help if you need it. There is nothing wrong with asking for help. If you could talk to your 14-year-old self, what would you tell him to remember about the person you are today? What advice would you give to him overall? I would tell him that even if there are difficult, it is still going to be a fun ride. Listen more, trust yourself and instincts, and do what you love.
