Action Magazine 2025
It all started with Take Action Apparel & Gear. With first-hand knowledge that bullying has become a serious epidemic in schools across the nation, Gabriel L. Silva wanted to help give kids like him a voice! "I was a victim of repeated bullying. I am small for my age and kids would make fun of me for my size. Eventually, the verbal turned physical. I know that not everyone is going to like me, and I am actually okay with that. But disliking and mistreating someone physically, verbally, or emotionally for basically being different and not taking the opportunity to get to know them for who they are, is not okay. I had an opportunity to travel to LA for pilot season, when I came home, I found out that three of my friends had had an even harder time than I did at school. I knew what they were feeling, but I was helpless to help them. I wanted to do something. So, we got together with a group of experts and some really cool designers to create Take Action Apparel & Gear." Fast forward through time, and as a result of Take Action Apparel & Gear, Action Magazine was born, giving a worldwide platform for both adults and kids in the industry, who are passionate about taking a stance against bullying, a place to share their stories. Effects on children that either are the bully or that are being bullied go well beyond the school day and sometimes last a lifetime. Students who are bullied sometimes resort to suicide and the bullies often find themselves incarcerated by the time that they are adults. "Action Magazine is a great way to showcase amazing talent within the industry, while at the same time, giving them an opportunity to let kids know that they are not alone and help them to feel empowered. I found my voice through acting/modeling and practicing Tae Kwon Do, I stopped focusing on the negative and was able to discover the positive in me. If we help just one by sharing our stories, then Action Magazine is doing what we have created it to do."

What are five things that you can't live without? The five things I can’t live without would be music, books, coffee, films and Halloween. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Some advice I live by is to always to my best and be kind to everyone. What's your favorite color? My favorite colors are black and red. What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie tends to change every time I see a new film. There are so many movies I love watching in any spare time I have. I just watched Weapons by Zach Cregger a couple weeks ago and it was a phenomenal movie. What is your favorite TV show? I have so many favorite TV shows so it's hard to answer this question. By far the TV show I have re-watched the most would be Gilmore Girls. The show is nostalgic to me in so many ways. It also holds a special place in my heart as my mom, and I watched it as I grew up as a teenager. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? I currently have no pets. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Last year I traveled to Solvang CA. It was so much fun, next year I hope to continue to travel and explore the world. What is your favorite food? Some of my favorite foods include, Italian food and Mexican food. What made you want to start acting? I actually started acting out in community theatre when I was 11 or 12-years-old. Once I started middle school, I started to realize that I could do acting on screen. When I was younger, I always performed for my family and said I wanted to be an actor, but it was only until my pre-teen/teen years that I started to get into and working in the industry. I remember my mom taking me to one of the studio tours and I recall looking at her and saying, “you can do this for a job, that’s so cool”. I got very into the entire industry processes and was inspired to continue to be creative and create as an actor. What is the most difficult thing about being an actor? Honestly, if you are an actor who is just starting out in the industry that is the hardest part. Just getting your foot in the door without anyone to guide you was extremely hard for me and my parents when I first started to navigate the industry. I have been working at breaking down barriers in this industry and furthering my career for around 8 years and I barely have scraped the surface of all my career goals. In fact, this whole topic inspired me to launch my own podcast. Its titled “The Bella Backstage Podcast”. On the podcast I interview everyone in the industry including but not limited to actors, models, content creators, musician’s and activists. I like to give a platform to actors who are just starting out to tell their stories. In doing so it shows the audience that if they want to follow their dreams of being in the industry it's possible. Starting in 2026 we will have a consistent schedule of interviews going up on Spotify and YouTube. Follow us on Instagram to stay up to date. @thebellabackstagepodcast How do you prepare for auditions? To be completely honest I’m the worst at auditioning. It's a little strange to think about because auditioning is more than half of my job. I struggle with anxiety in my personal and professional life, because of this I prepare for auditions with a lot of movement like exercise and grounding exercises. Once the camera comes on it all falls into place, and my anxious feelings fade away. This process has definitely been a learning process, but it has gotten better the further I go in my career. The industry is full of rejection. What is your advice on how to handle it? Handling rejection has been something I knew was a huge thing coming into the industry. As a teen and pre-teen, I did so much research to try to fully understand the industry. Once I got an opportunity to network and speak to working actors; a lot of the advice I got was to not work in the industry unless I really loved it because if I was looking for just the perks of acting, I would be drained really fast. From early on I understood how hard it was going to be but that doesn't mean it was any easier to accept rejection. I think it helped me a lot to start young because yes, I LOVE acting but I also have so much other stuff going on that when I got to act or auditions or take classes it was time I cherished. Now it’s just as hard but I really try to remember that when I get these opportunities they were for a reason and I go into everything just telling myself to do the best I can. That’s all I can really do as an actor and a person and if it's meant to be in the end then it will work out. All of this to say, I think part of handling rejection is to have something else that you are passionate about and do it but only do it for fun don't let it become something of monetary value. You have had many wonderful roles. What has been the one role that you relate to the most? One of the roles I have related to the most would be the role I'm currently working as I love the character so much. I'm not able to share too much about the project but it's been such a learning experience for me as both an actor and a person and it's been such a blessing to be part of the project. Stay tuned! More Details coming early 2026. If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? The perfect role for me would be a film, specifically a Horror film where I may or may not be a Final Girl. I would love for the set to have people I look up to in the acting world. I would like the role to be challenging but something I connect with as a person. Maybe the role requires intense character work, but it would present some type of challenge. In addition to music and acting, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? In addition to loving film and music, I love to learn. Specifically the topic sociology. Learning about people and their beliefs and behaviors is something I find so fascinating. With this being said, I am an extreme empath, and I think it's very important to give back to any community you can. Who is your favorite musician/actor and why? I have so many favorite musicians and actors. Of course, the following actors are not limited to America Ferrera, Jamie Lee Curtis, Melissa Barrera, Viola Davis, Emma Stone and Rita Moreno. There are so many more, but it would take up so much space! As far as musicians I grew up listening to music all the time. Music has been something constant in my life and I'm so grateful for it. I love 80’s music, even 50’s music and here are some of my favorite musicians/singers: Cuco, Tyler, The Creator, Maná, Frank Ocean, SZA, Kali Uchis, Tame Impala, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac and so many more. How would you describe your fashion style? My fashion style has been something that has changed so much over the years. The one thing that has stayed true is that I LOVE thrifting so much. I really try to use my clothing until I can't anymore and when it comes to that point I try to repurpose it if I can. I would describe my style as an amalgamation of different styles such as 2000’s fashion, mixed with alternative style. I often create outfits with one piece I thrifted that I love and add and layer from there. I also love accessories that add so much to an outfit. Fashion has always been another way I express myself. I think it's so much fun to find your own personal style and be creative with outfits. Who are some of your favorite people in the industry that you have worked with? I have met so many wonderful people over the years it's hard to narrow it down to a few. Every team I work with has taught me something new and brought me so much joy. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? If someone came to me and asked for advice to get started in the industry, I’d give the following advice. Immerse your life with creativity even if there is no big “success” at the beginning and continue to create things. Find hobbies and outlets to keep you grounded and find a love for things that are outside of the industry. Last but not least, know your worth and value as a human, as a creative and as a performer. The gift of being creative to the world is such a beautiful thing and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? My dream collaboration would be to be able to work on an A24 production. It would also be a dream to work with well-known directors such as Tim Burton or Robert Eggers. What can we expect to see from you in the future? There are currently a lot of projects in the works. In 2025 I took matters into my own hands and decided I would create while the industry slowed down for me. I started to write the stories myself and create the projects I would want to be on instead of waiting for that opportunity. I have started the process of independently creating my own film. I also will be seen in a horror film starring as “Danny” In the Film titled Time and Place with director Jordan Paige Stay tuned with my social media to see some announcements coming early 2026. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her? If I could talk to my future self I would tell her, I'm proud of her, no matter what she decides to do in her life. I would also say it's okay to slow down and enjoy the little things. Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? Thank you for taking the time to read this, little me would be shocked by getting this opportunity. I am eternally grateful for every step closer I get to continue to create for the rest of my life. Thank you to my amazing team over at Imagine PR and my amazing agents over at JSTA. También a mi familia, Te amo <3

What are five things that you can't live without? Coffee, Cats, Queso, My phone, TikTok What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? I always feel like I reference the motto of Just Keep Swimming. It’s important to just keep going. What's your favorite color? Green What is your favorite movie? How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days or She’s The Man What is your favorite TV show? Yellowstone Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? Currently no pets, but I would love to get a Corgi or a cat sometime soon What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Maui, Hawaii What is your favorite food? Spaghetti If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Taylor Swift - to just be around her and interact with her would be amazing. What made you want to start singing? I started singing so young, around 2-years-old, I think it was something I was drawn to naturally and I was always mesmerized by the people I saw on stage and I wanted to be like them. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? I think really finding your own thing and being confident in it while also just having enough belief in yourself to keep showing up even when there are so many other artists and so many other songs being released. It is easy to feel overlooked and irrelevant in today's music industry so if you can find that inner confidence to just be authentically you it does help a lot because that aspect of being in music is tough. Where do you find inspiration for your music? I definitly think my life events inspired me but I do find that art inspires more art. So if I am consuming a lot of creative works I find that I want to create more myself. What do you hope people take away from your music? I hope people can hear my music and be like “that really made me feel something” in whatever way possible. I want every song I have to hit an emotion and for people to feel that and connect with the song in that way. You have a new project, “When You Did,” tell us about this project? This is probably my favorite song to date. I wrote this with some of my best friends Laurel Sabadosh and Tyler Downs. “When You Did” came from the moment I realized the person I loved was falling out of love with me, yet still kept me in their orbit. It’s for anyone who’s ever held on, even as the relationship slipped away, hoping that things could still work out. In one word, how would you describe your sound? If I had to pick one word I would say my music is “Anthemic”. It is definitely meant to be screamed out loud In addition to music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I am passionate about empowering women and helping them find resources to better their lives, whether that is getting out abusive relationships and bad situations or just trying to find their way. Who is your favorite musician and why? Taylor Swift - I have followed her for years since the beginning of her career. I think she has not only set an incredible example as a songwriter but also as an artist and entertainer. She is so fan focused and that is also something I think has made her who she is today. I want to follow her example in that way as well. How would you describe your fashion style? Casual-Cool What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? If this is really what you want to do then just start and just do it. Do things imperfectly, put out music and learn along the way, work with people that make you feel good about yourself, don’t sell yourself short and don’t let other people tell you who you are. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? Shania Twain would be a really cool collab for me because so much of what I want to do artistically is inspired by her so that would be a really full circle collaboration. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I listen to countless hours of Mr. Ballen on YouTube. If you know you know!! What can we expect to see from you in the future? I have another single dropping at the end of September and then a follow up single with my full EP coming out at the end of October! If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her? Everything I am doing right now is to make my future self proud and to make my younger self proud so I would probably just say that “I am doing this all for you and I can't wait to see where this goes!”

Kyle Kelly, a North Carolina native, discovered his love for music at the early age of eight. Kyle was drawn to the old classic sounds of greats such as Lynyrd Skynryd and Waylon Jennings, which inspired him to learn guitar and drums. During college, Kyle was a pitcher for Catawba College baseball team, until he suffered a career ending injury. After recovering, Kyle found perseverance in music. As a self taught musician, Kyle began to write songs about his life, his truck, and his friends. Not long after, Kyle began to play live shows across North Carolina. Kyle Kelly released his debut record “Lake Weekend” in July 2020, which is seeing a tremendous amount of success on Spotify. In response to the graciously warm reception by thousands of listeners, Kyle released a follow up music video to “Lake Weekend”, where you can see his love for classic cars, friends, and having an all around good time! From classic cars to classic country music, this 28 year old country music artist is a true throwback, embracing the look and sounds of the ‘70s and ‘80s. A nostalgic feel is often reflected in Kyle’s music while still implementing his own personal touch of a modern spin.

What are five things that you can't live without? God, my family, my career, my guitar, and movies. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Stop saying “if”—if this happens, if that happens. Say “when.” Believe in yourself. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? My mom or honestly, just by myself. Sometimes the best conversations happen in quiet moments. What made you want to start acting? I grew up loving Bruce Lee and wanting to be an action star at a young age. I practiced everything he did—from nunchucks to spinning leg kicks. That passion for movement and storytelling pushed me toward acting. What is the most difficult thing about being an actor? The negative energy that people sometimes direct toward upcoming artists. They call the grind, the craft, and the struggle “corny,” and they don’t support you until you prove yourself. How do you prepare for auditions? I’ll read my lines just twice, then fully act them out based on instinct and what I’ve seen in the script. I like to trust my first impulses and bring them to life. The industry is full of rejection. What is your advice on how to handle it? Move on. Don’t dwell on the audition. Give it your all, send it into the void, and don’t expect anything back. That mindset keeps you focused on the next opportunity. You have had many wonderful roles. What has been the one role that you relate to the most? Micah, because he was just a kid forced to grow up too soon. That’s something I could relate to on a personal level. If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? A cold, ruthless character someone defined by long silences and powerful stares. I love roles that carry intensity without needing many words. In addition to acting, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I care deeply about the community and doing my part to make it a better place. Even the little things matter, and I try to support as much as I possibly can. Who is your favorite musician/actor and why? My favorite musician is The Weeknd his music is timeless and always evolving. My favorite actor is Cillian Murphy. I admire how he can express so much through stillness and his eyes alone. Who are some of your favorite people in the industry that you have worked with? I’ve been lucky to work with people who have kind souls and bring positive energy. Gregory Lenora, for example I spent a week working with him, and it was nothing but good vibes. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? Lead. You can’t be both a leader and a follower. Do your own thing and find a way to stand out. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? Christopher Nolan. I love his films and the way he builds entire worlds around his characters. What can we expect to see from you in the future? More films, more stories, and a lot more of me. I’m just getting started. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? “You did it.” Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? Just sit back and watch there’s so much more in store.

What are five things that you can't live without? Jesus, wife, son, guitar, and old cars. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? If you find something you love doing, you’ll never work a day in your life. What's your favorite color? Orange What is your favorite movie? Any of the Marvel movies but probably Iron Man. What is your favorite TV show? Dukes of Hazzard Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? I’ve got a dog named Hank and 3 cats named Dom, Mia, and Letty. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Montana was pretty awesome, Lake Tahoe as well. What is your favorite food? Chicken and dumplings If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? John Daly, I feel like it would be an all out good time and listen to some of the stories he’s got. What made you want to start singing? Really it was to start writing and playing original music. That’s what made me focus on learning to sing. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? The weight of “the grind” has its moments of greatness but lows too. Where do you find inspiration for your music? Really in anything, mostly as being a fly on the wall in some honkytonk I will play. But also in my self and writing about my life and what I’ve gone through or seen. What do you hope people take away from your music? Really, I just hope I portray a side of life that’s real, things I’ve seen and lyrically tell a good story. In one word, how would you describe your sound? Classic country with a personal modern touch. In addition to music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I work with restoring and collecting classic cars. I’m a very big “nerd” if you will, when it comes to 60’s/70’s Dodge and Plymouths. There isn’t a lot of young folks into the scene and soaking up the knowledge and history behind the cars. Once the older generation passes away, that knowledge is going with them. So I try to be a sponge and learn as much as possible. Who is your favorite musician and why? Ronnie Van Zandt of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Lyrically he just told it how it was and wrote what he knew and people loved them for that. How would you describe your fashion style? I'm very much an old soul, I buy a lot of vintage wear. Old denim or flannels, blue jeans and boots is where it’s at. I can’t remember the last time a bought a new shirt. Who are some of your favorite musicians that you have worked with? My band I love playing with them boys, we always have a great time What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? Don’t chase trends, find who you are and be that. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? Something with Sturgill Simpson or Brent Cobb would be awesome. I feel like our head spaces are around the some place and could do something cool. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I can’t read music at all. What can we expect to see from you in the future? More music coming soon, and hopefully an album next year. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? I’d probably ask him how things are going and find out if we’re still up to the same old things. Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? Yes, if anyone wants to come out to a show or follow what I’m up to, give me a follow on all socials! Also, you can stream my music where ever you listen from!

What made you want to become a magician? It came to me randomly and honestly, what happened was I went on a visit to Millan Italy, and during that trip I ended up creating a magic trick without any knowledge of magic or the craft. My curiosity led me to perform this trick over and over on the streets to people didn’t speak English, and the responses and reactions were so powerful and strong than when I returned home I ended up creating a career out of it. Have you ever had a moment on stage where the line between illusion and reality blurred for you? Absolutely. When you’re so in the moment with an audience, you sometimes forget about the method behind the magic. I’ve had times where a reaction was so genuine, so emotional, that I felt like I was experiencing magic alongside them. In those moments, it doesn’t feel like a performance anymore; it feels like we’re all sharing something real and unexplainable. What’s something about being a magician that most people completely misunderstand? People often assume it’s all about tricking others, but for me, it’s never been about deception—it’s about creating experiences. Magic isn’t just sleight of hand; it’s psychology, storytelling, and a deep understanding of human connection. It’s about making someone’s day brighter, helping them feel wonder again, even if just for a moment. Without revealing the method, what's the trick that took you the longest to master, and why? Here’s a mind-reading routine I do that took years to perfect. It’s less about the mechanics and more about reading people’s energy, timing, and reactions. It’s like learning a language—one that’s different for every person you meet. I kept refining it until I could perform it anywhere, for anyone, and make it feel deeply personal. Do you use techniques from psychology or neuroscience in your routines, either consciously or not? Definitely. Magic is rooted in understanding how people think, what they notice, and what they ignore. I studied body language, memory patterns, and misdirection to sharpen my craft, but a lot of it also comes from experience. Over time, you develop an intuition for people, and that’s just as important as any technique. If you weren’t a magician, what would you be, and would you still find ways to create wonder? I would’ve been a professional soccer player. That was the original path I did and then I was injured and that kind of ruined my career. I think aside from that if I was something else, maybe I would be someone that helps people. I’m not sure what way what field but I feel like I would always be drawn back to giving back to others and making their lives better. In addition to all that you do, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I’m passionate about using magic to give back. I’ve done performances for hospitals, charity galas, and youth programs because I believe magic has the power to heal and inspire. Seeing kids light up when they’re going through tough times is one of the most meaningful parts of my career. It reminds me that magic isn’t just entertainment—it’s a tool for connection and hope. Who are some of your favorite people in the industry that you have worked with? I’ve been lucky to share magic with celebrities, athletes, and industry leaders, but my favorite moments are often with everyday people on the street. I really think some moments are cool like when I do a famous rapper, I think back to childhood Josh rapping their songs or an actor and the movie and it’s just really cool for me to see those celebrities that I liked as a kid becoming fans of mine, the way I am a fan of them . What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? Start small, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to fail. Every magician you admire has thousands of failed tricks behind them. Magic isn’t about having fancy props or a big stage; it’s about creativity, persistence, and a genuine love for making people smile. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? This is a really good question to be honest. I’m not sure who I just love creating things and working with people so I’d love to collaborate with anyone and everyone just help create more things. Add more beauty to the world and make peoples lives better. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I speak several languages, which actually helps me connect with people on a deeper level during performances. Magic is universal, but being able to perform in someone’s native language takes it to another level. Today I have performed in seven languages and I hope that number increases. What can we expect to see from you in the future? I want to keep raising the bar—not just with tricks, but with storytelling and immersive experiences. I’m working on projects that blend magic, psychology, and technology to create something truly new. My goal is to remind people that wonder isn’t just for kids—it’s for all of us. I have a lot of projects I’m working on From going after I get a book of records to creating something new and ever before done on YouTube with magic and other things I think there’s a lot of projects I’m gonna put out and I’m really excited for them all to happen and be brought to this world.

What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Don’t let fear stand in the way of living your life. What's your favorite color? Green! Sometimes purple. What is your favorite movie? The Parent Trap. I still don’t understand how they made that movie with only one Lindsey Lohan. What is your favorite TV show? At the moment, it’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, I’m OBSESSED. Also, Severance, I binged that show in like two days. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? I had a golden retriever growing up named Rosebud. What is your favorite food? I think I could eat sushi every day for the rest of my life if I could. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? I would really love to have dinner with Gordon Ramsey to see how critical he is in real life. As a musician and actress, are a multi-hyphenate entertainer. Let’s start with music….what made you want to start singing? I have always sang since I was a little, but my older sister, Sophie, really made me love it. I loved singing duets with her, and she made me want to be better. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? Where do you find inspiration for your music? It’s so easy to want to give up on the dream when things get tough. It’s a really hard career to be in. The financial instability. The constant rejection. But it’s the great musicians that know their worth and decide to keep pushing through. What do you hope people take away from your music? You have a new project, “Shade of Green,” tell us about this project? I hope people can connect to it in some way. The song provokes a very relatable feeling to have after a break up. It’s the weird feeling of being almost completely over someone who you always thought you would love. And the forgetting of the parts you thought you would always love about them. The concept of change and how hard change can be is a common theme in my songwriting. In one word, how would you describe your sound? Nostalgic. Now, let’s talk acting! What made you want to pursue acting? What is your favorite genre? I started in music theater, then went on to study film acting. I love and appreciate both forms, for theater acting is obviously more performative and theatrical, when film acting is more internal and held. I love being able to play characters on a stage, and embody people who aren’t like me at all. I also love playing characters that are exactly like me, more so in film. I love it all honestly. If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? My perfect role is someone I can really have fun with and play around with, try new and different things every time I play them. That's the fun of acting for me. I do really love comedic roles for this reason, finding new ways to make an audience laugh. In addition to music and acting, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I volunteer at the bowery mission center when I can. I love supporting mental health facilities as well. My boyfriend and I put up a charity concert at 54 Below to raise money for Aviedum, a nonprofit organization that raises awareness about mental health in teenagers. Who is your favorite musician/actor and why? Joni Mitchell is my favorite songwriter because her lyricism is just so uncanny and relatable. How would you describe your fashion style? Free People (the store). I have an addiction. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? I would tell them that their journey is going to be different from everyone else’s journey. When I was first starting out, my friend gave me some great advice that I’ll never forget. “Comparison is the thief of joy.” So just enjoy the process! Who would be your dream collaboration and why? I would love to write something with Lizzy McAlpine. I just feel like we would write something really amazing together! What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I play ice hockey in my free time! I’m a very physically active person. It's how I de-stress. What can we expect to see from you in the future? I am currently working on my first full album, so stay tuned for that coming out in the Spring! I am also working on a web series with a group of friends which I’m very excited about! If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her? I hope you got everything you ever dreamed of and are very happy in life. I hope you have people in your life that you love and who love you, and are happy with everything you accomplished. I also hope that you got to perform at Red Rocks…that would be so cool. Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? Thank you for reading!

What are five things that you can't live without? 1. Crystals: As someone who is very spiritual, I deeply believe in the power of energy, vibrations, and vortexes. My crystals are essential for grounding me and protecting me from negativity. 2. Singing Bowl: This is a vital part of my daily routine. I always cleanse my space and meditate with the sound bath, which helps align my chakras and keeps my mind focused. 3. Watch: I can’t leave the house without my watch; it feels as if I’m missing something essential. I’m very particular about time, valuing punctuality in all aspects of my work, especially in the kitchen. 4. Cellphone: I rely on my cellphone for checking the weather, reading daily news, and staying connected with others. I'm quite social and love to wish people happy birthdays on social media. 5. Facial and Dental Care Products: I can’t sleep without washing my face and brushing my teeth. I also make sure to apply sunscreen or moisturizer before heading out to protect my skin. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? My life's motto is to Live in alignment with your true self and let your spirit shine. Being aligned with your true self means understanding your core values, beliefs, dreams, and passions. It encourages you to act in ways that genuinely reflect who you are rather than conforming to societal expectations. Letting your spirit shine allows your inner light to be expressed freely. This authenticity not only boosts self-confidence and happiness but also fosters deeper connections with others. Ultimately, this motto invites you to embrace your individuality, pursue what truly fulfills you, and share your unique gifts with the world. When you live authentically, you inspire those around you to do the same, creating a positive ripple effect. What's your favorite color? My favorite color is chartreuse also known as yellow-green, a hue that truly resonates with me on a deeper level. This color represents a beautiful harmony between the vibrant energy of yellow and the calming essence of green. Yellow embodies positivity, joy, and enlightenment. It reminds me of the sun, radiating warmth and optimism, filling our lives with light and cheer. Green, on the other hand, signifies growth, renewal, and connection to nature. It evokes feelings of balance and tranquility, reflecting the vital life force that runs through all living things. Together, yellow-green symbolizes a blend of these energies, representing a state of flourishing abundance and spiritual growth. It inspires me to embrace life fully, reminding me to maintain an optimistic outlook while nurturing my inner self and the world around me. In essence, this color encourages me to cultivate a sense of joy and harmony in my life, inviting me to celebrate both my individuality and my connection to the greater universe. It serves as a constant reminder to seek balance and vibrancy in everything I do. What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie is Hello, Love, Again, and my admiration for it goes beyond the fact that we were part of the film. It resonates deeply as it reflects our story—a heartfelt narrative that embodies our truth and celebrates the triumph of love. This film beautifully captures the journey of hardworking immigrants and highlights the cherished Filipino values of hospitality, dedication to healthcare, and an unwavering love for family. These themes resonate universally, which is why “Hello, Love, Again” has become the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time. It also marked a historic breakthrough, achieving the remarkable feat of being the first-ever Filipino film to rank in the top 8 box office openings in the United States. This remarkable success is a testament to the power of storytelling and the universal appeal of love and resilience. What is your favorite TV show? My favorite TV show is “The Bear”, and as a chef, I can confidently say it is the most realistic and authentic culinary series I've encountered. It masterfully captures the myriad challenges of running a kitchen—from the struggles of establishing a business to the stress and pressure that come with each service. The show portrays the pain and hardships that chefs endure, revealing the chaotic egos and pride that can lead to conflict while simultaneously resulting in the creation of remarkable dishes. It beautifully illustrates the deep appreciation for food and the sweetness of camaraderie that exists among kitchen staff, despite their imperfections. Every time I watch it, I'm transported back to my own experiences in the kitchen. It evokes both anxiety and nostalgia, reminding me of my journey as a cook. The writing is exceptional; the script is phenomenally crafted—bold and strikingly authentic. It's a stunning portrayal of kitchen life, and one that resonates with anyone who has ever stepped into a culinary world. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? Yes, we have a beloved dog named Hunter, who is a delightful mix of Samoyed and Husky. He came to us as a rescue, having been surrendered by his previous owner, and from the moment we adopted him, he quickly became like our own baby, infusing our busy lives with so much joy. Hunter is full of energy and affection, requiring our daily walks of about two hours to keep him happy and healthy. He truly is the sweetest companion—he doesn't bark much, but he has a unique way of sensing our emotions. When my husband and I are feeling down, he showers us with love, always leaning in for cuddles and kisses, which brings us comfort. Hunter is like our little therapist; he knows just how to cheer us up and make us smile. He brings so much happiness into our lives, and whenever we travel together, we can see his excitement. Having him by our side fills our hearts with comfort and love, making every adventure even more special. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? My favorite travel destination, without a doubt, is Sedona, Arizona. As someone who is deeply spiritual, I find this place to be incredibly sacred. Sedona is renowned for being one of the highest vortexes in the country, making it a truly special spot for relaxation, meditation, and manifestation. The energy there is unparalleled, with an uplifting vibration that enhances the experience of being present. It's a magical environment where all crystals feel fully charged, and our bodies can become grounded and cleansed. Sedona offers a serene haven that nourishes both the spirit and the soul, and I cherish every moment I spend there. What is your favorite food? This question is quite challenging for me as a chef, since choosing a favorite food can be difficult—it often feels like our preferences change like a flavor of the month! Each cuisine offers its own unique flavors, making it hard to settle on just one. However, if I had to pick, my favorite dish would definitely be the simple yet beloved Pancit Bihon. What makes this dish truly special is its presence at every Filipino celebration, from birthdays and Christmas to festivals and casual potlucks. Pancit Bihon is not just a dish; it is an integral part of our culture that unites everyone around the table. It strikes the perfect balance of savory flavors, and a splash of calamansi elevates it to perfection. Additionally, this dish is traditionally associated with bringing good luck and longevity, which is why it is always included in special occasions. It embodies not just deliciousness but also the spirit of togetherness and celebration. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? If I could share a dinner with anyone, living or not, it would be my biggest idol, Chef Paul Bocuse. As a culinary graduate, his influence has shaped my journey in the kitchen. I’ve always followed his teachings and tried to embody his passion for cooking. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2018 at the age of 92, and I never had the chance to meet him, which I often think about. Ever since I started studying French cuisine, I’ve dreamed of sitting down with him. I would love to have an intimate conversation, picking his brain about nouvelle cuisine, discovering how he created his masterpieces, and learning about his approach to turning simple dishes into fine dining experiences. I’m especially curious about what inspired him to write his books, which have touched the hearts and minds of so many chefs. His legacy continues to inspire me every day. What’s a dish that completely changed how you think about food? The dish that completely changed my perspective on food is the classic French omelet! Growing up in a middle-class family in the Philippines, breakfast always included eggs. I enjoyed them, of course, but everything changed the first time I had a truly exceptional omelet. Imagine this: just plain eggs adorned with delicate chives, perfectly shaped like an almond, with not a hint of browning or blemish—so soft and creamy that it melts in your mouth. The simplicity of butter and salt elevates the experience to pure perfection. While it sounds easy to make, achieving that level of finesse is truly an art. No novice cook can whip up a perfect omelet without mastering the proper techniques and methods. It demands experience, skill, and above all, a genuine passion for cooking. This dish opened my eyes to the incredible complexity and beauty that can be found in something as humble as an egg. It taught me that simplicity doesn't mean easy; instead, it can reveal a world of culinary intricacies and divine flavors. That realization changed my entire approach to food! Do you believe cooking is more art, science, or therapy? Why? I truly believe that food is a harmonious balance of art and science. It is an art form that showcases our creativity and the artistry of flavor combinations, allowing us to express ourselves in ways that are both innovative and personal. At the same time, it is grounded in science, encompassing nutritional values and essential food safety processes that ensure what we consume is both safe and edible. This delicate interplay is what makes cooking such a fascinating journey. Moreover, I see food as a form of therapy. It doesn’t just satisfy our hunger; it nourishes our souls. The dishes we enjoy have the power to evoke emotions—bringing joy, sparking memories, and creating connections. A bite of something familiar can transport us back to a cherished moment or a comforting place, igniting excitement in our senses and lifting our spirits. For me, food is the universal language of love. It unites us across cultures and experiences, fostering community and creating bonds that transcend words. Whether we're sharing meals with loved ones or discovering new flavors, food has the incredible ability to bring people together and elevate our shared experiences. How do you define “authenticity” in food—especially in an age of fusion and globalization? Defining “authenticity” in food, especially in our current age of fusion and globalization, is a complex yet fascinating topic. To me, authenticity in food embodies true cultural representation and a profound respect for tradition, ingredients, and techniques. It means honoring the heritage of a dish—understanding its origins and the stories behind it. Heirloom recipes play a vital role in this conversation. These cherished dishes, passed down through generations, carry the flavors and memories of our ancestors. They serve as a tangible connection to our roots and offer insight into the culinary practices of different cultures. Maintaining and sharing heirloom recipes not only preserves the authenticity of traditional cooking but also ensures that the stories, customs, and values associated with them continue to thrive. In a world where culinary borders are increasingly blurred, fusion cuisine can be seen as a beautiful celebration of diversity. However, I believe that authenticity still holds value in preserving the essence of original flavors and practices. Authentic dishes evoke a sense of place and history, connecting us to the communities and cultures that created them. At the same time, authenticity can evolve. As chefs and home cooks experiment with ingredients and techniques from different cultures, they create new expressions that pay homage to their roots while embracing innovation. This doesn’t diminish the authenticity of a dish; rather, it reflects the dynamic nature of food as a living cultural artifact. Ultimately, authenticity in food is about intention—an earnest effort to reflect the flavors and traditions that resonate with us while allowing for personal expression. It’s an ongoing dialogue between honoring the past, including our heirloom recipes, and embracing the future, making our culinary experiences richer and more meaningful. As a celebrity chef, what is one of the how do you approach cooking for some of the world’s most famous faces? As a celebrity chef, cooking for some of the world's most famous faces is both an exciting responsibility and a unique opportunity. My approach begins with understanding the individual preferences and dietary restrictions of each client. I believe that food is deeply personal, and tailoring a menu that reflects their tastes and needs is essential. I prioritize creating a warm, inviting atmosphere, because dining is not just about the food—it's about the entire experience. I aim to make every meal memorable by incorporating elements of surprise and delight. Whether it’s adding seasonal ingredients to highlight the flavors of the moment or creating visually stunning presentations, I strive to engage all the senses. Moreover, I draw inspiration from various culinary influences, ensuring that the dishes I prepare are not only delicious but also reflect the cultural backgrounds of my clients. This can sometimes mean fusing different cuisines or reimagining traditional dishes to create something truly special. Ultimately, my goal is to craft meals that resonate with my clients on a personal level, evoke fond memories, and bring joy to their dining experience. It’s an incredible privilege to share my passion for food with such influential figures, and I approach each opportunity with creativity, care, and a commitment to excellence. Is there a lesser-known cuisine or region the world is seriously sleeping on? I believe there are some truly remarkable cuisines that the world is sleeping on, and for me, Peruvian, Georgian, and Moroccan cuisines stand out. Starting with Peruvian cuisine, it's an incredible fusion of indigenous ingredients and global influences. Each dish is a vibrant explosion of flavor! Just think of Ceviche—it perfectly balances acidity and spice, showcasing the dazzling variety of potatoes and corn found in Peru. It really is a culinary adventure that allows you to experience the country’s rich history and culture in every bite. Then there's Georgian cuisine, which I find absolutely delightful. It beautifully blends Eastern European and Middle Eastern flavors. With hearty dishes like Khachapuri—cheese-filled bread—and Khinkali—flavorful dumplings—Georgian food is all about bold flavors and fresh herbs. I love the tradition of supra, which is a feast overflowing with food and wine, embodying the true essence of hospitality and community. And let’s not overlook Moroccan cuisine! It's such a feast for the eyes and the palate. The vibrant mix of Berber, Arab, and Mediterranean influences creates a beautiful mosaic of flavors. Imagine fragrant tagines simmered with spices, colorful couscous, and fresh salads that burst with flavor. The art of Moroccan cooking really emphasizes the joy of sharing meals and highlights the rich culture of North Africa. These cuisines not only tantalize the taste buds but also tell fascinating stories about their regions, inviting us all to explore their unique histories and traditions. What’s a kitchen lesson you still carry from someone who trained or mentored you early on? One of the most profound kitchen lessons I still carry with me is the importance of respecting ingredients. This lesson was instilled in me by a mentor who emphasized that every ingredient has its own story, history, and cultural significance. It’s crucial to honor the journey these ingredients have taken from the soil to our kitchens, understanding their origins and the traditions tied to them. Cooking isn’t just about combining flavors; it’s about connecting with the essence of what we’re preparing. When I create a dish, I aim to celebrate these ingredients and weave their stories into my cooking. And perhaps the most important takeaway from my early training is to always cook with a happy heart. When you infuse joy and love into your food, it resonates through every bite. That positive energy not only enhances the flavors but also creates a more nourishing experience for everyone who enjoys the meal. This mindset transforms cooking into a beautiful act of love, a true celebration of life. In addition to music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? In addition to my love for music, I am deeply passionate about giving back to my community through charity work and volunteering. I find this work incredibly fulfilling and rewarding, as it provides me with a profound sense of purpose and value in my existence. One of the ways I contribute is by volunteering at food banks and cooking for the homeless. There is something incredibly humbling about sharing a meal with those in need; it goes beyond just providing food—it's about offering warmth, compassion, and a sense of belonging. I believe that every individual deserves kindness and respect, and through my work, I hope to uplift others, even if just for a moment. I am especially passionate about the concept of "kapwa tao," which emphasizes our shared humanity and the importance of helping one another. It reminds me that kindness is free and can create ripples of positivity in the world. Every small act of compassion can spark hope and bring people together, making our communities stronger. Ultimately, this work nourishes not only those we help but also our own hearts. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the power of connection and the idea that we are all in this together, supporting and lifting each other up. Who is your favorite musician and why? My favorite music icon has to be Mariah Carey! Her vocal range is absolutely stunning, and her style has always inspired me. I grew up listening to her songs, and during the holiday season, you better believe her Christmas tunes are on repeat! In the Philippines, we celebrate Christmas longer than anyone else starting in September and lasting all the way to December. Just imagine listening to Mariah’s joyful songs for four straight months! She’s become such a significant part of our holiday traditions, and her music holds a special place in my heart. I still can’t believe I had the chance to cook for her during her stay at the Bel Air Hotel! It felt like a dream come true serving a meal to someone I’ve admired for so long was an unforgettable experience. It was much more than just cooking; it felt like sharing a piece of my passion and creativity with her. How would you describe your fashion style? When it comes to my fashion style, I would say it's fashion-forward and has a strong couture influence, all while staying deeply connected to my Filipino heritage. I love wearing pieces from Filipino designers; their work is filled with incredible detail and craftsmanship. Each ensemble I own tells a story about our culture and traditions, and for me, that makes fashion so much more meaningful. It’s not just about how I look, it’s a way to express who I am and celebrate where I come from! Who are some of your favorite musicians that you have worked with? As a FilAm Singing Chef, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to collaborate with some amazing musicians throughout my career. I’ve had the privilege of sharing the stage with the Philippines' Concert King, Martin Nievera, and the beloved Asia’s Nightingale, Lani Misalucha. Opening a concert for Arnel Pineda, the lead singer of Journey, was a true highlight! I’ve also had the joy of performing as a front act for numerous talented Filipino artists, including Morisette Amon, Bamboo Mañalac, Vice Ganda, Kyla, Apl de Ap, KZ Tandingan, Angeline Quinto, K Brosas, Eric Santos, Christian Bautista, Garth Garcia and many more. Each collaboration has brought unique flavors to my musical journey. But one of the most special moments I've had was when I was invited to perform for the Philippine President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos, alongside the incredible Ivy Violan and Tootsie Guevara. That experience was beyond meaningful, as it allowed me to represent my artistry on such a distinguished platform. Every performance is a cherished memory, and I’m excited for what the future holds! What advice would you give other kids that want to break into music? My biggest piece of advice for kids aspiring to break into music is to embrace the words of the Journey song: 'Don’t Stop Believin'.' This mantra is so powerful because it reminds us to hold on to our dreams and persist through challenges. The journey into the music world can be tough; there will be obstacles and rejections along the way. But believing in yourself and your talent is crucial. Keep honing your skills, whether through practice, lessons, or simply creating music every day. Surround yourself with supportive people who encourage your passion, and don’t be afraid to share your unique voice with the world. Remember, every great artist started somewhere, and each step, no matter how small, brings you closer to your dreams. So, keep pushing forward, stay inspired, and never let go of that belief in yourself! Who would be your dream collaboration and why? My dream collaboration would be none other than the incredibly talented Lea Salonga. She truly embodies what it means to be a Filipino artist, being the only Filipino to have won a Tony Award, a Broadway Star, and having lent her magnificent voice to Disney classics. Collaborating with her would be an absolute honor. I admire her incredible range and emotional depth in every performance. A duet with Lea would not only be a dream come true for me but also a beautiful opportunity to celebrate our shared heritage through music. Her impact on the industry and her inspiring journey serve as motivation to many aspiring artists like me. I can only imagine the magic we could create together! What is one thing that nobody knows about you? One thing that nobody really knows about me is that I can actually stand on a motorcycle while it’s going 60 mph and sing a Journey song at the top of my lungs! I’ve done it a couple of times back in the Philippines and without a helmet, no less! Looking back, it was such a rush and a bit of a crazy adventure, but I definitely don’t think I’d want to try that again. Safety is a priority these days! Still, it’s one of those wild memories that make me smile and reflect on my more adventurous times. What can we expect to see from you in the future? In the future, you can expect some exciting projects from me! I’ve wrapped up a couple of vertical reel series and am working as a food consultant on two more which has been such a fun experience. I’m also thrilled to be hosting a TV cooking series, which I can’t wait to share with everyone! Additionally, my husband, Mark Labella, and I are opening our production services studio in Calgary called Birns and Sawyer Studios Canada. It’s a big step for us, and we’re excited to be producing a series and three films next year! Next year, I’ll also be signing on as a brand ambassador for a food company, which is something I’m really looking forward to. And I’m excited to share that I’ll be releasing a single that will be part of the music for our films. It feels amazing to combine my passions for food, music, and storytelling in such a creative way. I’m so grateful for these opportunities and can’t wait to take everyone along for the ride! If you could talk to your younger self, what would you tell him? If I could talk to my younger self, I would say to embrace every experience, both the highs and the lows, and trust that they are all part of your journey. I’d remind myself not to be afraid of taking risks and to follow my passion for music and cooking with all my heart. I would encourage my younger self to believe in the power of resilience. There will be challenges along the way, but those moments will shape you into who you are meant to be. It’s okay to stumble; what matters is that you get back up and keep pushing forward. Most importantly, I’d emphasize the importance of kindness both to yourself and to others. Surround yourself with supportive people, nurture your relationships, and never lose sight of what truly matters: love, connection, and the joy of sharing your gifts with the world. Life is a beautiful adventure, and each step you take no matter how small as it brings you closer to where you’re meant to be. Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? Absolutely! I’d love to share a little piece of advice with our audience: pursuing your passions is such an exciting journey, and it’s totally worth every step. Whether it’s in music, films, cooking, or something else entirely, I encourage everyone to embrace the process and be open to learning along the way. Don’t be afraid to take risks and think outside the box because creativity really shines when you let yourself explore! I also want to emphasize the importance of community and connection. Let’s lift each other up, support our peers, and celebrate everyone’s successes. It’s amazing how even the smallest acts of kindness can create a positive ripple effect in our lives. And remember, taking care of yourself is key. Find that balance in your life, make time for the things you love, and most importantly, enjoy the journey. Life is too short not to chase what makes you happy! I’m so grateful to have you all along on this incredible adventure, and I can’t wait to share what’s next. If you want to keep up with my journey, feel free to follow me on Instagram at @chefmarvz Thank you very much! Marvin

If you thought vinyl was something your parents stashed in the attic, think again. Gen Z is flipping the script, one record at a time. That scratchy, analog format your dad used to clean with a T-shirt is suddenly very cool again. But this isn’t just a wave of ironic nostalgia or retro cosplay. Vinyl is having a legit cultural moment, and it’s Gen Z leading the charge. In an era where music is just a tap away, you'd think spinning a 12-inch disc would feel wildly outdated. But that's exactly the point. The Anti-Algorithm Rebellion For Gen Z, digital natives raised on Spotify playlists and YouTube autoplay, vinyl offers something rare: intention. You can’t just skip around. You drop the needle, sit back, and listen. “It forces you to pay attention,” says 22-year-old record collector Maya from Chicago. “It’s like the opposite of doomscrolling.” That analog ritual, flipping the record, reading the liner notes, watching the needle slide across the groove, feels like an antidote to algorithm fatigue. It’s music without push notifications. Just vibes. Owning the Moment Let’s be real, vinyl also looks good. Whether it's displayed in a crate, mounted on a wall, or spinning on a pastel turntable from Urban Outfitters, records are Instagram gold. But it’s more than aesthetics. Physical media gives Gen Z something streaming can’t: ownership. With digital music, you never really have it. It’s rented, licensed, and always at risk of disappearing from your library. Vinyl is different. It’s tangible, collectible, and personal. Pop Stars Are in on It Too This isn’t happening in a vacuum. Artists are leaning into vinyl. Taylor Swift’s Midnights sold over 1 million vinyl copies alone, making it the top-selling vinyl album of the decade so far. Olivia Rodrigo, Harry Styles, and Billie Eilish have all released deluxe vinyl editions with alternate covers, splatter-press designs, and bonus tracks. Vinyl isn’t just a format. It’s a flex. A merch drop. A fandom must-have. Collector Stats: Gen Z Is Spinning the Numbers 43 percent of vinyl buyers in the U.S. in 2023 were aged 18 to 34, according to Luminate (formerly Nielsen Music). Vinyl sales in the U.S. hit 49.6 million units in 2023, the highest since 1991. Gen Z collectors say they now spend an average of $100 to $300 a month on records, based on self-reported data from Vinyl Me, Please and Discogs surveys. The hashtag #vinylcollection has over 1.5 billion views on TikTok, and growing. Limited edition pressings and colored vinyl remain the fastest sellers, with preorders for Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo vinyl editions selling out in hours. The numbers don’t lie. Gen Z isn’t just dabbling in vinyl, they’re driving the boom. Community Over Convenience TikTok has helped fuel the trend, with #vinylcommunity racking up millions of views. Creators show off new pressings, unbox rare finds, and rank album sides like it’s the Oscars. Record shopping has become an experience, and for many Gen Z listeners, it’s less about the music and more about the ritual. That sense of community, sharing finds, digging through crates at indie stores, debating pressings, feels more meaningful than yet another curated playlist. The Future? It’s Spinning So is vinyl just a trendy flashback or a sign of a deeper cultural shift? Maybe both. But one thing is clear, the format that once seemed destined for extinction is now a symbol of rebellion, mindfulness, and music made real. Gen Z didn’t grow up with records. That’s what makes their obsession with vinyl so fascinating. They’re not chasing nostalgia. They’re creating new memories with an old format. And if you’re still streaming? That’s cool. But don’t be surprised if your next party has a turntable and a guest asking which pressing you’re spinning.

What are five things that you can't live without? 1. Diet Coke 2. My Guitar 3. My Car 4. My Boots 5. Steak What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Keep moving forward, even at the crossroads. What's your favorite color? I really like Green! A newfound favorite of mine! What is your favorite movie? Definitely Rocky! I'm so inspired by that story, and as a boxer from PA, I gotta stand by Mr. Balboa! What is your favorite TV show? It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia! Always brings a huge smile to my face. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? I do! My cats Desmond, Phantom, Hemingway, and Snow! And my dog Gracie! What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Dublin, London, and Reykjavík! Dublin has this incredible warmth and musical spirit—it feels like every corner has a story or a song waiting to be shared. London is such a cultural hub; every time I’m there I feel inspired by the energy, the theater, and the history woven into the city. And Reykjavík is just magical—the landscapes, the quiet, and the sense of being somewhere completely unique always leave me in awe. Each of those places spark creativity in a different way, which is why they stand out for me. What is your favorite food? Steak! Always a classic. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Probably my parents. They split their time between the US and London, so whenever they’re in New York it feels extra special. I love being able to catch up with them here—whether it’s going out for a meal, walking around the city, or just spending time together. Since we don’t always get to be in the same place, those moments feel really meaningful. You are a dynamic force in music, film, and theater…Let’s start with music…what made you want to start singing? I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. Even as a little kid, I was always humming, making up songs, or belting along to whatever music was around the house. Singing felt less like something I decided to do and more like something that’s just always been part of me. As I got older, it became the way I processed the world, turning emotions or experiences into something I could share. It’s been with me since day one, and I don’t think I could imagine my life without it. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? Where do you find inspiration for your music? I think the hardest part of being a musician is learning to live with fear. There’s the fear of not being good enough, the fear of being vulnerable in front of people, and the fear of putting so much of yourself into something and not knowing how it will be received. Every song feels like opening up a piece of yourself, and that’s scary. But at the same time, that fear is also what makes it worth doing—because when someone connects with it, it means you were brave enough to be honest. What do you hope people take away from your music? You have a new project, “Faithful Friend,” tell us about this project? I hope people walk away from my music feeling a little less alone. Life is messy—full of doubt, loss, love, and change—and my songs are my way of working through all of that. If someone hears a lyric and feels seen in their own struggle, or finds comfort in knowing someone else has been there too, then the music has done its job. More than anything, I want my songs to be a reminder that even in the hardest moments, we’re connected by the experiences we share. “Faithful Friend” is one of the most personal songs I’ve written. It tells a story in three acts—looking back on the innocence of childhood, moving through the changes and losses of growing up, and finally reflecting on where we end up as adults. At its heart, it’s about the people who stay with you through it all—the ones who walk beside you through every version of yourself. Writing it was both nostalgic and a little bittersweet, but my hope is that it reminds listeners of their own “faithful friends,” and maybe inspires them to be that presence for someone else. In one word, how would you describe your sound? Heartfelt Now, let’s talk acting! What made you want to pursue acting? Theater and film acting require different skill sets from the actor. How do you balance between the two? Acting has always felt like another way of storytelling for me. Even as a kid, I loved stepping into different characters and exploring lives that weren’t my own. After my bike accident when I was 11, I couldn’t do much physically for a while, and acting—along with music—became this outlet where I could still express myself fully. What really drew me in was the idea that acting, like music, lets you connect with people on a deep emotional level. You get to hold up a mirror to the human experience, and that’s what made me want to pursue it seriously. Both theater and film demand different things—film acting is all about subtlety and the camera catching the smallest details, while theater requires you to fill the whole space with your presence. I’ve learned a lot from doing both, but if I’m honest, I really prefer theater. There’s something irreplaceable about the energy of a live audience—the give and take, the immediacy, the fact that every performance is unique and can never be recreated exactly the same way. Balancing the two comes down to adjusting how I channel emotion, but my heart will always lean toward the stage. What genre of acting that you haven’t tried, would you like to? If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? I’d love to dive into Shakespeare. There’s such a timelessness to his work, and the language challenges you to find truth and humanity in every line. Playing Hamlet has always been a dream of mine—the role is so layered, filled with grief, doubt, wit, and raw emotion. It feels like one of those parts that could push me to my absolute limits as an actor, and I’d love the chance to explore it someday. If I could write the perfect role for myself, it would be a character who exists in that space between light and dark—someone flawed, conflicted, maybe even haunted, but still reaching for hope. I’ve always been drawn to roles that let you live in that gray area, because that’s where people feel the most real. It would be a chance to bring together everything I love about music and acting—raw emotion, vulnerability, and the search for meaning. In addition to music and acting, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? Outside of music and acting, I’m really passionate about mental health awareness. It’s something that’s deeply personal to me, and I think it’s so important to break the stigma around talking about it. Earlier this year, I co-produced a benefit concert called Songs That Saved My Life at 54 Below, which raised money for Aevidum, a nonprofit focused on mental health and suicide prevention. For me, using my platform to shine a light on these issues feels essential—art can be a way of starting conversations that people are often too afraid to have. If sharing my story or creating space through music and theater helps even one person feel less alone, then it’s worth it. Who is your favorite musician/actor and why? Probably Marcus Mumford from Mumford & Sons. He’s such an incredible vocalist, guitarist, lyricist, and frontman, but beyond the talent, what inspires me most is the honesty in his music. The way he writes and performs feels raw and unfiltered, and that kind of vulnerability is what I aspire to in my own work. He has this ability to make a stadium of thousands feel like a conversation, which is something I really look up to. He’s been a huge influence on me, both as a songwriter and as a performer. How would you describe your fashion style? Western Granola Boy Who are some of your favorite people in the industry that you have worked with? I’ve been lucky to draw inspiration from so many different people across music, film, and theater. In theater, someone like Enda Walsh has always inspired me with the way he blends poetry and grit in his writing, and Lea Salonga is such an icon for how she’s opened doors and set the standard for so many performers. In film, Barbara Broccoli is someone I admire for the way she’s stewarded stories that have lasted generations. Musically, I’ve learned so much from working with people like Gary Clark, whose artistry and craft are on another level, and Alan Douches, whose mastering has brought so much of my own music to life. Each of them, in different ways, has shaped the kind of artist I want to be. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? I’d tell them to stay true to themselves and not be afraid of the slow, messy process. It’s easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to others, but the most important thing you can bring to your music or acting is your own story. Work hard, keep showing up, and don’t let fear stop you from putting yourself out there. And just as important—find people who lift you up and build a community around your art, because no one does this alone. Who would be your dream collaboration and why? Definitely Marcus Mumford. Like I said before, he’s my idol—not just because he’s an incredible vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, but because of the way he leads with vulnerability and honesty in his music. He has this rare ability to make a huge crowd feel like they’re in the front row of an intimate show, and that’s something I aspire to. Collaborating with him would be a dream, not only to learn from his artistry but also to share in that kind of raw, emotional storytelling that makes his work so powerful. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? One thing not a lot of people know about me is that I’m really into boxing and fitness. It started as just a way to stay active, but it’s become a huge part of how I clear my head and stay grounded. It’s almost like the opposite of being onstage—quiet, focused, just me against myself. What can we expect to see from you in the future? In the near future, you can expect a lot more music. My debut album Waiting at the Crossroads comes out September 16, and I’m already deep into writing the next one. I’ll also be out on a 20-day U.S. tour this fall, which I’m so excited about—it’s a chance to bring these songs to life and connect with people in the room. Beyond that, I want to keep growing as both a musician and an actor, taking on projects that challenge me and hopefully building a community around the work. My goal is always to create art that feels honest and helps people feel a little less alone If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? If I could talk to my future self, I’d probably tell him to remember why he started—to hold onto the love of music and storytelling that made him want to do this in the first place. I’d remind him not to get lost in the pressure or the noise, and to keep choosing honesty over perfection. Most of all, I’d tell him to stay present, keep showing up for the people who matter, and not forget to enjoy the ride. Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? I just want to say thank you for listening and for being part of this journey with me. Waiting at the Crossroads is such a personal project, and my hope is that it meets people wherever they are in their own lives. If there’s one thing I’d want to leave with your audience, it’s that none of us are alone in the struggles we face. Music has always been about connection for me, and I can’t wait to share these songs with you on the road and beyond.

Part 3: From Followers to Investors – Leveraging Social Media for Casting and Career Successs By Lisa Malcolm CEO/ Founder Lynk PR
Welcome to the third and final part of my series guiding entertainers on strategically leveraging social media for career advancement. In Part 1, we discussed building an authentic brand identity, and in Part 2, we covered audience growth through engagement and analytics. Now, in Part 3, we will focus on transforming your social media presence into direct opportunities with casting directors, fans, and potential investors. Your social media platforms serve as dynamic business cards. Prominently showcasing your professional achievements, such as significant follower counts, successful collaborations, or popular content, immediately establishes your credibility. One client successfully secured auditions after highlighting her growing follower count and viral videos prominently in her Instagram profile. Casting directors quickly recognized her online success, translating directly into casting opportunities. To effectively attract casting directors, ensure your social media content links clearly to your professional portfolio. Your profiles should explicitly direct industry professionals to professional materials such as reels, IMDb pages, or casting databases. Including specific calls-to-action, such as directing visitors to "watch my latest reel," significantly enhances the likelihood of securing auditions. Maintaining high-quality content is essential. Prioritize posts that authentically represent your professional standards and personality. Posting frequently without purpose or quality diminishes your brand’s credibility. Casting directors and investors consistently favor genuine, meaningful content over superficial posts. My final advice from years of guiding entertainers through successful careers is this: your authenticity remains your greatest strength. Social media offers unparalleled opportunities to strategically shape your professional narrative. Combining authenticity, clear storytelling, and strategic visibility allows entertainers not only to survive challenging times but to emerge stronger, better connected, and fully prepared for future career opportunities. Even during uncertain periods, you have the power to leverage your online presence strategically and authentically, turning followers into valuable career advancements and solidifying your professional future.
There was a time when breaking into the music industry meant handing out mixtapes, hustling for radio play, or hoping a record exec stumbled across your demo. Now? It might just mean landing a spot on the right Spotify playlist. Welcome to the streaming era, where algorithms, curators, and mood-based marketing are redefining what it means to “make it.” The Power of the Playlist Spotify isn’t just a platform, it’s a gatekeeper, a tastemaker, and, in many ways, the new A&R department. With over 600 million monthly active users, the platform’s editorial and algorithmic playlists wield unprecedented influence. Whether it’s “RapCaviar,” “New Music Friday,” “Today’s Top Hits,” or a niche lo-fi chill mix, a single playlist placement can turn an unknown into an overnight sensation. In 2022, over 30% of tracks that charted on the Billboard Hot 100 had first found traction on streaming playlists. That’s not coincidence. That’s conversion. The Algorithm: Kingmaker and Cultivator Spotify’s algorithmic playlists, like Discover Weekly and Release Radar, take into account listening behavior, skip rates, saves, shares, and even what part of a song people replay. These digital signals feed a system that rewards engagement, not just fame. If listeners finish a song, add it to their library, or share it with friends, the system notices, and boosts the track to even more ears. That’s why independent artists with zero label support can still go viral. Think of Tai Verdes, Steve Lacy, or PinkPantheress, artists who built audiences online, earned playlist traction, and turned that exposure into touring deals and major label offers. Curators as Cultural Architects Beyond the algorithm, Spotify has a team of genre-specific editors who handpick tracks for curated playlists. These curators, often anonymous, often trend-savvy, hold immense power. Their selections can dictate the sonic trends of tomorrow, whether it’s the rise of bedroom pop, the return of drum and bass, or the continued blending of global genres like afrobeats, reggaeton, and K-pop. In some cases, artists have adjusted their sound entirely to suit the aesthetic of a popular playlist. Three-minute hooks, vibey intros, moody beats? That’s not just style, that’s strategy. The Chart Isn’t What It Used to Be Because streaming now accounts for the lion’s share of chart eligibility, the Billboard Hot 100 and Spotify Global Top 50 are more connected than ever. Artists who were once dismissed as “TikTok trends” now climb the charts with ease — their success funneled through viral moments, playlist inclusion, and repeat listens. Even major labels are playing the game. It’s not unusual to see entire marketing campaigns built around playlist pitching. In this climate, visibility means viability. From Bedroom to Billboard Spotify playlists have flattened the playing field, sort of. While not everyone gets a fair shot, and the algorithm remains a mystery even to the experts, the opportunity is real. Today, an artist can upload a song from their bedroom, land on Fresh Finds, and wake up with a record deal. From indie to mainstream, the road to chart-topping success is no longer paved with gatekeepers, it’s filtered through the stream. And it all starts with one click.

From Reality TV to Political Platforms: The Power of Fame in Public Influence
It’s 2025, and the line between celebrity and statesman is blurrier than ever. With TikTok stars landing congressional interviews, reality TV royalty launching advocacy campaigns, and influencers being considered for mayoral seats, we’ve entered a new era: where viral clout equals political capital, and charisma on camera can rival a decade in public service. The Kardashians, the Culture, and the Campaigns The Kardashian-Jenner empire has long shaped global beauty trends, business benchmarks, and media strategy — but in recent years, their influence has taken a more civic turn. Kim Kardashian, in particular, has rebranded herself from reality TV icon to legal reform advocate. In 2024, her successful campaign to overturn multiple wrongful convictions, combined with her ongoing work with The REFORM Alliance, had political pundits openly speculating: Is a Senate run next? Her 2025 voter engagement initiative, “Justice Is a Right,” is already being taught in college political science classes as a case study in digital-age influence. Meanwhile, Kylie Jenner’s environmental campaign — tied to her clean beauty brand relaunch — has sparked both praise and scrutiny. Her “Green is Glam” tour, while commercially branded, is being credited with increasing Gen Z voter registration in several swing states. From TikTok to the Town Hall It’s not just legacy reality stars. Influencers like Monet McMichael, Alix Earle, and Khaby Lame have used their platforms to highlight mental health, racial justice, and social equity issues, mobilizing millions of followers into action. Some are now being courted by political parties as potential youth surrogates — and at least one has been rumored to be considering a run for local office. Even Bachelorette alum Rachel Lindsay, a licensed attorney and media personality, now sits on the board of a national civil rights organization and recently hosted a town hall on criminal justice reform that aired on Hulu and YouTube Live. The rise of these figures signals a shift: credentials are being redefined. Lived experience, media fluency, and authenticity — or at least the appearance of it — matter more to young voters than resumes filled with policy positions. Fame as a Modern Political Strategy Why does this matter? Because 2025 is not just the year of the influencer — it’s the year of influence. Whether it’s reality stars showing up at congressional hearings, pop culture figures testifying before the UN, or YouTubers getting invited to the White House, fame now opens doors once reserved for seasoned politicians. The platform is the power. Of course, not everyone’s applauding. Critics warn that the celebrity-to-politics pipeline can prioritize image over impact. But in a world where attention is currency, and visibility determines viability, ignoring the power of fame is political malpractice. The Future Is Branded — and Elected The question isn’t whether reality stars will run for office. It’s whether they’ll win. And if the trends of 2025 hold, the answer may already be written — not in the Constitution, but in the comments section. In this new era, democracy isn’t just televised. It’s trending.
