Action Magazine 2025
It all started with Take Action Apparel & Gear. With first-hand knowledge that bullying has become a serious epidemic in schools across the nation, Gabriel L. Silva wanted to help give kids like him a voice! "I was a victim of repeated bullying. I am small for my age and kids would make fun of me for my size. Eventually, the verbal turned physical. I know that not everyone is going to like me, and I am actually okay with that. But disliking and mistreating someone physically, verbally, or emotionally for basically being different and not taking the opportunity to get to know them for who they are, is not okay. I had an opportunity to travel to LA for pilot season, when I came home, I found out that three of my friends had had an even harder time than I did at school. I knew what they were feeling, but I was helpless to help them. I wanted to do something. So, we got together with a group of experts and some really cool designers to create Take Action Apparel & Gear." Fast forward through time, and as a result of Take Action Apparel & Gear, Action Magazine was born, giving a worldwide platform for both adults and kids in the industry, who are passionate about taking a stance against bullying, a place to share their stories. Effects on children that either are the bully or that are being bullied go well beyond the school day and sometimes last a lifetime. Students who are bullied sometimes resort to suicide and the bullies often find themselves incarcerated by the time that they are adults. "Action Magazine is a great way to showcase amazing talent within the industry, while at the same time, giving them an opportunity to let kids know that they are not alone and help them to feel empowered. I found my voice through acting/modeling and practicing Tae Kwon Do, I stopped focusing on the negative and was able to discover the positive in me. If we help just one by sharing our stories, then Action Magazine is doing what we have created it to do."

What are five things that you can't live without? God, my children, family, music, video games What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? If you stay ready, you ain’t gotta get ready. What's your favorite color? Blue What is your favorite movie? Pirates of the Caribbean What is your favorite TV show? The Office What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Alaska What is your favorite food? Lasagna If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Alive, I would have to go with Johnny Depp. He’s my favorite actor and he just seems like a cool ass dude to chill with. Dead, I would say my Grandmother. I’d love to just sit with her one more time and have a nice meal with her and go over everything that’s gone on over the years. You are a multi-talented individual: musician/artist and co-owner of The Morning After Music Production Studio. Let’s start with your music first. What made you want to become a musician? I’ve always been really into music since I was a child. It’s something I’ve always had an ear for. I’ve played the piano, the saxophone, the harmonica and really, I’ve always been able to play music by ear. As far as rap is concerned, it all started when I was around 12 and I came home from school and saw Grandmaster Melly Melle walk across the screen rapping to “The Message”. THAT’S when I fell in love with Hip-Hop. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? Honestly, for me, it’s coming up with a good hook that I think will stick. Where do you find inspiration for your music? Usually, I find it in life events and things that happen to me. Though, it could come from anywhere or at any time. What do you hope people take away from your music? In one word, how would you describe your sound? I would describe my sound as “Hip-Hop” and what I hope people take away from it is that there are still real artists out there that actually care about their craft and the way it sounds. Now on to your role at The Morning After Music Production Studio. What made you want to own your own production studio? It really boiled down to not wanting to have to wait for an opportunity to present itself. Especially one filled with false hope and false promises. We wanted to create something unique and something that was truly our own. What are some of the most important things that you look for when you are scouting new talent to work with? Potential is the biggest thing that I look for. You can absolute trash, but I hear even an ounce of potential in there, I’m going to push and push until I know that you’re doing what you’re capable of. In addition to all that you have going on, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I’m super passionate about working with the men’s ministry in my church. I’m also super passionate about cooking, whether it be in the kitchen or on the grill and just being outdoors. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? Hands down, it’s Johnny Depp. His ability to play these off the wall roles is amazing. I especially love it when him and Tim Burton get together. It’s always magic. How would you describe your fashion style? SIMPLE. Give me a plain tee from Walmart, some jeans, some Vans sk8 hi’s and a new era and i’m good to go. Who are some of your favorite people in the entertainment industry that you have worked with? I haven’t had the opportunity to work with anybody with a big name as of yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to it. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? Don’t listen to the ones who say you can’t do it. Follow your heart, and just keep pushing forward. Most importantly, PRACTICE. When you think you can’t practice anymore, keep practicing. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I don’t listen to rap/Hip-Hop lol. What can we expect to see from you in the future? Hopefully me on a stage and reaching people by the thousands. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? I don’t think there is anything I would tell him, rather, I’d have A TON of questions more than anything. Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? I just want to let you all know that I am truly humbled by the opportunity to have been able to a part of this and I look forward to bringing you all the content that you love and deserve. I sincerely hope you all enjoy it, and I promise to always strive to give you my best and nothing less. Thank you all!

What can we expect to see from you in the future? This year you will hear my first song - can’t wait to share! And interviewing some of your fav celebrities, you won't want to miss it. With an “abundance of firepower”(Billboard), Corona, California native and Spinville Entertainment artist Ashley Ryan is taking Nashville’s music scene by storm. An early penchant for poetry led to a natural progression into songwriting at 16, when her grandfather gifted her her first guitar. “I didn’t have anyone to sing my songs, so I started singing them myself, and it just seemed to work.” Shortly after discovering her vocal talents, and after giving college a try in her home state, she ventured east to Nashville to continue her journey (and college at Belmont University) in country music’s capital. Capturing emotions from heartbreak to honkytonk, Ashley’s music provides listeners with an energy and authenticity that gives listeners a classic country tune with a modernized twist. Shortly after the move to Music City, her musical talents were recognized by 4X GRAMMY® Award-winning country star Keith Urban at a private event. A quick dialogue between the two led to an impromptu duet of Keith’s hit song “Without You” - ultimately leading to an invitation to perform the duet again at Urban’s sold-out show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
Ryan’s debut song with Spinville,“Hush Little Baby,” released in January 2023, and quickly went viral, amassing over 30 million views on TikTok and Facebook, and over 12 million streams on Spotify alone. Her follow-up release,“full-fledged barn-burner” (Billboard) "Too Far Gone,” is yet another example of Ryan’s vocal prowess and a nod to the female stars that inspire her. “I grew up singing ‘Before He Cheats’ and ‘Gunpowder and Lead.’ I really love fiddle in a song - I love that old traditional country, the grungy female country with the sassy drop D guitar and rolling banjo. So that’s what you’ll get from me.” 2024 marked the release of her debut EP, Too Far Gone- a collection of favorites, including “Hush Little Baby,” the title track, and “certified country sass” (The Boot)“ One Tractor Mind,” as well as electric guitar fueled up-tempo,"Bad For You.” Additional releases included standout tracks “Pour Girl” and “Them Cowboys,” as well as “Better Than Leavin” - a high-energy, fiery anthem that combines attitude and heart in a way only Ryan can. She kicked off 2025 with the release of “Adeline” - her modern-day take on the Dolly Parton hit, “Jolene” - out now. She just released her classic “woman scorned” anthem “Wrong Post” on 3/7. Action Magazine caught up with this amazing young woman to get to know her a lot better. Take a peek at some of her answers to our staple game of Q&A on pg. 82. What are five things that you can't live without? Music, family, my studio, my dogs, pizza What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? F#* it What's your favorite color? Well, I am color-blind, so this is kinda a trick question. But I would have to go with Grey & Black. What is your favorite movie? The Great Gatsby is a film that I adore. I believe my fondness stems from its enchanting theme music, which creates a dreamy atmosphere. BTW I have a strong affinity for movies that feature captivating soundtracks and immersive cinematic sounds. What is your favorite TV show? Dexter is one of my favorite shows of all time; I just love the way he saves lives. He’s a hero, JK. He kills people on the show, but the show has such a great story to it. Watch it! Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? I have two Huskies. Kylo & Blue howl a lot in the mornings, but other than that, they are lovely. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? In my previous line of work, I traveled frequently and had the chance to explore many stunning locations. However, if I had to choose a favorite, it would be Puerto Rico. The people were incredibly friendly, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. What is your favorite food? Pizza, Shrimp Po Boys & Cheese Fries. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? I would choose my grandmother, who passed away when I was a sophomore in high school. The reason for this is that I would love to have an adult conversation with her, sharing all that I have experienced in life, as well as my accomplishments and challenges. You are a multi-talented individual: Producer/artist and co-owner of The Morning After Music Production Studio. Let’s start with your music first. What made you want to become a musician? I have always had a deep connection with music; most of my relatives on my mother's side are musicians, which I believe has influenced my bond with it. However, the main reason I became a musician was to find a way to cope with the emotions I experience in my daily life. As a child, I excelled at writing stories and poetry, and I feel this skill gave me an advantage in creating music. Therefore, I decided to learn how to produce, compose melodies, and craft beats—everything involved in bringing a song to life. Music serves as my escape and is the medium through which I express my feelings. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? Marketing the music, I find this being the most difficult thing as an independent artist. In one word, how would you describe your sound? Vibrant Now let’s talk production. What made you want to turn more to the production portion of the industry? When I began my music journey in 2017, I was recording at my cousin's house, who actually introduced me to GarageBand. We would create songs using beats we found on YouTube, but I didn’t realize that mixing was essential to ensure the music sounded good on any speaker. I also wasn’t aware that I needed to pay for those YouTube beats or obtain a license for them. This lack of knowledge became frustrating, prompting me to practice making my own beats so I wouldn't have to pay or risk using someone else's work. Fast forward to 2019, I reconnected with Conrad, whom I had known for a few years. When he discovered I was making beats, he mentioned that he rapped and didn’t know I produced music. Our collaboration began instantly, and we formed a strong bond through our creative process. We started visiting other studios to record, but some engineers were either slow or inexperienced themselves. Although I had previously attempted to mix my own music, I was unsuccessful. Conrad encouraged me to dive into mixing and mastering, and we eventually acquired a microphone to start recording in his closet. The rest, as they say, is history. Now, I have invested significantly in a full-fledged studio and have about eight years of experience in music production. Where do you find inspiration for your music/beats? In my heart and through real-life experiences, I draw inspiration from my past and my emotions. Most of my music reflects genuine events that I have lived through and feelings I truly possess. Currently, I'm working on a solo project that encompasses the challenges I've faced over the past few years. This endeavor is distinctly different from the music I've released previously with Conrad, and I'm eager to share it with the world. The songs are incredibly authentic, featuring beautiful melodies, and I take the opportunity to showcase my vocal abilities more prominently, something I don't often do. It's important for me to step outside of my comfort zone sometimes. Now on to your role at The Morning After Music Production Studio. What made you want to start your own production studio? I believe that music should be accessible to everyone and shared freely. While I recognize that it is a legitimate business, music plays a vital role in our lives, resonating with us during moments of joy, sadness, anger, or self-expression. With this in mind, I've encountered many artists and have always wanted to make a positive impact on the world. I decided to pursue this passion by launching my own production company, dedicated to helping young artists release their music. Traditional studios can be quite costly, and I genuinely feel that pursuing your dreams shouldn't come with a hefty price tag. Therefore, I aim to support emerging artists in bringing their songs to life, charging them either a minimal fee or nothing at all. This is the motivation behind the creation of TMA Entertainment. What are some of the most important things that you look for when you are scouting new talent to work with? Most of the time, I seek out individuals who are genuinely passionate about music. I prefer to connect with those who are not merely chasing fame or recognition, but who truly care about creating music and share the same goals as I do. In addition to all that you have going on, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? One of my other passions is photography and photo editing. I discovered this interest a few years back, and I genuinely enjoy it. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? Keanu Reeves is one of my favorite actors; I particularly enjoy the John Wick series, and he appears to be a very humble individual. I also admire Leonardo DiCaprio, as his films are among the best as well. How would you describe your fashion style? To be honest, I’m not really a sneaker enthusiast. Brand names don’t matter much to me; I prefer wearing boots, plain shirts, and a Carhartt jacket. Who are some of your favorite people in the entertainment industry that you have worked with? I haven't had the opportunity to collaborate with many people, but I did have the chance to be in the studio with underground artists and some producers who have worked with well-known musicians. However, I won't disclose any names. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? Never let anyone discourage you from pursuing your dreams. You have the freedom to achieve anything you desire in this world. The sky truly is the limit! What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I am color blind; I don't really tell a lot of people as they start asking too many questions or asking if I can see this color or what color this is. But yeah, this is something no one really knows. What can we expect to see from you in the future? More music! I am currently working with a few artists in the Mexican genre, and I am also working on a solo project with more of a lo-fi/pop sound. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? I don't think I would really tell him anything; I would just leave things as they are and let my story be written the way it is supposed to be. Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? Thank you so much if you do support us; I truly appreciate it, and much love to all of you.

What are five things that you can't live without? Jesus, family, friends, country music and Texas Roadhouse rolls What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? You can't have a million dollar dream with a minimum wage work ethic. What's your favorite color? Green What is your favorite movie? Wedding Crashers What is your favorite TV show? The Walking Dead and The Chosen (two very different shows) Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? An Australian shepherd named Bandit. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Destin, Florida What is your favorite food? Medium rare Ribeye with some creamy potatoes! If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? I’m a Bible nerd, so I would say Kristi McLelland. She’s a Bible historian, and I have done so many of her studies throughout the years. It would be awesome to share a meal with her, and pick her brain about Jesus. What made you want to want to become a musician? SO many artists, but mostly Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Danielle Bradbery after she won The Voice! Where do you find inspiration for your music? As far as style goes, I pull a lot of influence from early 2000’s country, from Dierks Bentley and Billy Currington to Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert! It also helps to pull from real life experiences, especially when you’ve dated a couple fellas who give you something to write about What do you hope people take away from your music? I hope people feel nostalgic when they hear my music. I strive to have an authentic country sound with the fun storytelling I grew up listening to. If I can pull on some heartstrings too, then I’ve done my job as a songwriter! Music is all about connection. I just want to make people feel something, whether it’s sadness, joy, excitement, anger or healing etc. You have a new project,“Adeline,”tell us about this project? “Adeline” is a fun one, written with Larry McCoy and Quinn Loggins! It’s all about a woman who is very protective of her man. When she sees a potential home wrecker, it isn’t long before she shows Adeline that she ain’t no Jolene. It wasn’t written with this intention, but I like to think of “Adeline” as Jolene’s granddaughter, and let’s just say the apple didn’t fall far… In one word, how would you describe your sound? Attitude! Haha In addition to your music, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I’m really passionate about fellowship with my church. I co-host a women’s Bible study with one of my closest friends! We all get together when we can, make dinner and talk Jesus! It’s a great time to get poured into spiritually, and get recharged for the week! Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? Adam Sandler, hands down. His movies have the dumbest humor, and I love them so much. Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore have a special place in my heart. How would you describe your fashion style? I have a mix of Cali girl with a hint of western, with church girl thrown in. In other words, I have no idea, send help! Who are some of your favorite musicians that you have worked with? Keith Urban! I haven’t necessarily “worked” with him, but he invited me to sing with him to a sold out show at Bridgestone arena, and that forever changed my life! It was so exhilarating, and he was so kind and encouraging! What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? My advice would be a few things: never be the smartest person in the room, cause you won’t learn. Surround yourself with hard-working and encouraging people. Don’t let your emotions dictate how your day is going to be, cause there will be many highs, and many lows in this career field. Do your best, and surrender to the outcome. Be your biggest cheerleader. Celebrate every win, big or small. Be humble and kind. Stop the comparison game. Ask for help when you need it, and remember that nobody is self made; It takes a village, and finding your village will be game-changing! Let time do its thing; if you have the talent and patience, your time will come. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? Most people don’t know that my last name isn’t actually Ryan. I have a brother named Ryan, who went to be with Jesus at 21-years-old. I carry his name with me in honor of him. What can we expect to see from you in the future? LOTS of new music. What are five things that you can't live without? My Bible, music, family/friends, shopping, and my heels. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? Your failures are not failures but stepping stones to success. Throughout my time in pageantry, being a performer, and in life in general, I’ve learned that sometimes there will be obstacles in life that you have to overcome to reach your goals. These can be not winning a competition, not getting the grade on your assignment you had hoped for, or not landing the role you had set your sights on. Doors closing or not opening for you allows the Lord to work in your life to lead you on the right path and to help you grow! What's your favorite color? Pink, of course! Since I was a child, I have loved all things girly and pink. My room is entirely pink from the decorations to the bedding to the walls; there could not be enough of this fun color present. Pink makes me feel happy and wearing it always is so fun. What is your favorite movie? Although I have a few, my absolute favorites are the Harry Potter movies! The entire series encompasses so many unique elements and truly makes you want to be there yourself! I think it would be so cool to be able to perform magic and even be sorted into one of the houses. The online quiz says I would be a Hufflepuff, and I think that would be true if I were in the movies. What is your favorite TV show? The Summer I Turned Pretty is my absolute favorite. What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? I would have to say, St. Maarten, which was our location for our International royalty trip! The sights were absolutely incredible, the water was so blue, and it was definitely paradise every day. I got to drive an ATV for the first time and take a boat around the island, seeing all the gorgeous sights. Nothing beats an IUM trip in paradise! What is your favorite food? Chicken tenders If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? It would be so amazing to sit and have dinner with Gigi Hadid. I have always been a huge fan of hers and have always watched in awe as she has taken the runway. She is an icon and runway legend so to learn tips and tricks in the modeling world from her, as an aspiring famous model, would be incredible. I would just love to take a little dive into what it is like to be her and maybe get the chance to walk for her! Congratulations! You have just been crowned International United Miss 2024-2025.Tell us how you got started in the world of pageants. I began competing in pageants in Pre-K at my elementary school a little over 19 years ago. I ended up winning that pageant and was crowned Tiny Miss Cape Fear Christian Academy. At the start I did not really know what it meant to be a titleholder. I thought it was so fun getting to wear pretty dresses, ride in parades, and have awesome sister queens. As I got older and continued to compete I found that pageantry is about so much more. It is truly about service, scholarship, sisterhood, friendships, memories, and opportunities. Now as International United Miss, I have the platform to use my voice for good, be a role model and inspiration to young women everywhere, serve and bring recognition to organizations special to me, and be a big sister to sisters I never had. The last 7 months have been the most special, transformational, and life-changing months of my life and I will forever be grateful to IUM for this opportunity. What is the most difficult thing about competing in pageants? For me, it was about a 4 year period in my pageantry journey where I was told that I was not good enough, I could not accomplish my dreams, and that I had to change who I was to be successful. I kept working to improve my skills and be the best version of me possible but after being told to change and do so much to fit what was“accepted”I was worn out and was not confident in myself. This point was where I had thought about giving up but that’s when a new pageantry opportunity arose. After taking the new chance I had I won my first state title in 2021 and did it being 100% just Ashton. From there I established my platform, Be the Crown, which works to instill confidence and authenticity in the lives of young women and have been able to use my story to show others that your differences make you unique and special and that you can do anything you set your mind to no matter who tells you “no.” What have you learned about yourself through your pageant journey? I have learned to never give up on myself and my dreams. Every opportunity is a lesson that can help you grow and for me, every step in my pageantry journey I have taken something from and have use it to become the woman I am today. What has been the one piece of advice that you have been given that has been your“goto” in the world of pageants? YOU are enough. What is your message to the people who look up to you as a role model in the world of pageants? It is truly an honor getting to know each and every one of you. Knowing that you think of me as a role model and someone you aspire to be warms my heart. I am here for every single one of you and will continue to cherish our encounters forever. I am who I am today because if you and am extremely grateful for that. What do you want to be remembered for in the pageant world? I want to be remembered as the titleholder that loved service, sisterhood, and everything about the crown but most importantly as a woman who was real, genuine, and passionate about everything she did. In addition to pageants, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I am extremely passionate about my involvement with Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Special Olympics of NC, Miracle League, and of course, my platform, Be the Crown. All of these organizations, whether they have a personal connection to me or not, benefit children and individuals in need which warms my heart. My sorority, Alpha Delta Pi’s philanthropy is Ronald McDonald House charities and that organization really resonated with me as I had a family friend who’s family stay there while she had eye surgery as a child. With someone in my family who has battled cancer and sickness before, I really strive to partner and work with organizations with a passion to brighten’s someone’s day and to ensure care and opportunities are accessible for all. In addition, I have close ties with my platform as it strives to ensure young women know they are worthy and can use their unique traits to inspire others as well as understanding that all things are possible. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? Zendaya is such a gem in the entertainment world and I think has to be my current favorite. From her Disney days until now she has always made me happy while watching her on the screen. Plus, her personality always shines in real life as she us always so much fun and never fails to be kind to others. How would you describe your fashion style? I would describe it as cute, comfortable, and trendy! I like to wear athletic/sweat sets, cute tops, skirts, jeans, and matching shoes to class on a daily basis. I also love accessorizing with earrings and numerous bracelets and rings in both silver and gold as well as claw clips to tie everything together. When I want to dress up, I enjoy wearing heels and unique dresses that are in bright or classy colors to accentuate by personality. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? It is so important to never give up on yourself and your dreams and to not listen to the negative voices that like to circulate in today’s society. You are more than capable of achieving any goal you set your mind to. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? Something that not many people know about me is that I am double jointed. What can we expect to see from you in the future? You can expect to see me as a graduate from Campbell University with my degrees in Business Administration Management and beginning cosmetology school in the fall. I also plan to continue my pageant career after I crown my successor in July. Stay tuned to see where my next stop will be! If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell her? I would tell future Ashton that she has so much ahead of her. She has incredible opportunities in waiting and has already achieved so much. Yes there have been bumps in the road but she has been absolutely determined and focused on her goals and does not let those bumps get in her way. Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? Thank you so much for reading this article and learning a little bit about me, my passions, and IUM! Always remember to be unique, be authentic, and be YOU. No one else wears your invisible crown the way you do so use it to be a light in the world to to bring a smile to someone else’s face.

Cara AnnMarie is an actor, singer, & entrepreneur, most recently known for her recurring roles in the popular Netflix Original - Cobra Kai and now on Netflix - Detroiters. She was born in San Diego, California, but grew up in Chelsea, Michigan - home to Jeff Daniel's Purple Rose Theater. With a strong arts education, Cara landed her first leading role, playing Lady Macbeth in her 4th Grade Class. Throughout High School, Cara was involved in Choir, Show Choir, Debate, and studied Voice privately. She went on to attend The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and graduated with a Theatre & Voice (Opera) degree. She booked her first professional Musical Theatre roles while still in college - Playing Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz at The Marque Children's Theater and Margie in State Fair at The Circa' 21 Dinner Theater in Illinois. After graduation, Cara briefly moved to Chicago where she responded to an audition in Backstage and left on a Tour two weeks after moving. She then made NYC her home base but came and went often doing Regional Theater, Cruise Line Broadway Shows, and Tours both within the U.S. & Internationally. Some of her favorite roles include Christine in Phantom, Cinderella in Cinderella, and Beth in Little Women. After singing and dancing her way around the country she wanted to unpack her bags for a bit. So she decided to start auditioning for television and film. She then landed numerous commercials & print ads (including two National Commercials - Pay Anywhere & Trusted Choice Insurance). And the independent films Dead Quiet, Liberty's Secret (2016), Moontrap: Target Earth (2017), and most recently Where's Rose with Ty Simpkins. Cara has been very fortunate to work on some amazing TV and streaming shows such as Detroiters on Comedy Central with Sam Richardson, Tim Robinson & Jason Sudeikis - Ozark directed by Jason Bateman and opposite Laura Linney (the scene was sadly cut from Season One), Cobra Kai with Ralph Macchio and William Zabka and will be playing a recurring role in an upcoming Netflix Original series - Florida Man. In tandem with her acting career, Cara is passionate about Animal Welfare and Rescue and started a successful Eco-Friendly Pet company - Doggy Do Good - with her husband and rescue dog - Olive. She has recently expanded her family by one - having a son in October of 2020. Action Magazine caught up with this amazing young woman to get her take on our traditional game of Q&A. Stay tuned, because we have a feeling that we will be seeing a lot more of her in the music industry! Make sure you follow her on Instagram so that you don't miss a moment of his journey.
What are five things that you can't live without? My son, my dog, my husband (in that order LOL) no, I love them all equally, books, and oxygen. What's your life's motto or advice that you live by? This is all temporary, the good, the bad - all of it. Be kind to yourself and to those around you, this will be a fast ride. What's your favorite color? I feel like it’s always changing but right now I’m in a real pink phase. Not sure what that’s about. What is your favorite movie? SO MANY - this is just an impossible question. TV is leading more than film for me right now because there’s so much amazing writing and acting on streaming. But a classic that I think shapes a lot of how I see scripts when I get them is CLUE - I’m such a fan of comedy and funny women and this movie is the best of the best playing and it’s a treat to watch. What is your favorite TV show? I’m very excited to get back into Severence and White Lotus. Billions. Succession - I'm drawn to a strong ensemble cast - playing hard and bouncing off each other - it’s just like watching a game/sporting event. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? Olive, She’s the best - a 14-year-old Black Lab What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? Italy (so far) I did a study abroad in college and was outside of Florence, then have returned a few times. I’ve spent a few days in Barcelona and would love to return. What is your favorite food? Gosh, I love food - last night we ate at the Elysian Bar in New Orleans and had this gorgeous focaccia and warm olives to start - that was pretty perfect. But a crunchy Neapolitan pizza (coal-oven preferred) that may be my favorite. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? Anyone in THE WORLD - wow - without meeting someone it’s hard to know if your fantasy dinner date is cool or a nightmare. Very hard to pick. It would have to be someone funny, 'cause at least then you're laughing - how is that not enjoyable? I think Steve Martin would probably be a lovely date, funny, smart, cool, may be kind. I think we’d have a lot to chat about and become friends - I’ve read most of his books and plays - he’s done it all. You are a multi-talented individual as an actress, singer, and entrepreneur. Let’s start with acting. What made you want to become an actress? This is complicated - I was never striving to be an actress. I wanted to sing and dance on stage. And of course, acting is an element of any performance but I certainly didn’t feel comfortable just acting. That came over time and now I love to dive into characters and explore what’s going on in auditions. Or roles I am working on. You have been in several hit projects, including the Netflix hit, Cobra Kai. Tell us what has been the one role that has been the most similar and the most different to your real personality and why. Sue in Cobra Kai is pretty similar to my personality - for Season 4 & 6 the writers knew who they were writing for so there’s a lot of me in that story. She’s pretty dry and sarcastic - pushes back for what she wants. That’s me. Opposite is still to come - I did play a German woman in a film called The Battle of Bushy Run still to be released in the US - she was rather different than me - it takes place in the 1800’s but. . . . she sings. That was really wonderful and I hope you get to see it soon. If you could write the perfect role for yourself, what would it be and why? A jazz singer in a TV series, she’s complicated and devoted to her craft making it messy for any relationship to function. Perhaps she witnesses some sort of murder scandal and gets involved with the cover up (a la Dead to Me). . . . I should get writing that! Why? Why not - singing, acting, being human - it’s messy and that would be a gift to play. Next, let’s talk music. Tell us how you got your start as a singer. I have a degree in Opera, from The University of Michigan (GO BLUE) and went on to work in Musical Theater for a decade. As a musician, what is your favorite genre to perform? What is the one genre that you haven’t mastered that you’d like to try? Standard songbook Jazz, Traditional musical theater. As an entrepreneur, what has been the hardest part about running a business? What has been the most rewarding? Time management. I’m juggling a few different jobs. One of which is being a mom and it’s taken me years (I'm still not great at it) but it’s scheduling the time to give attention and love to all the things that you’re passionate about and that deserve your focus. The reward is when things are really balancing well and you are giving back a lot - that’s when it feels like you’re superhuman or something. But I don’t forget “this is all temporary” enjoy it because the imbalance will be back. How do you hope to see your business grow in the future? Bringing in partners will be next. And showing up in big box stores - which is in the works currently. More growth = more to give back. If you have a dog find us www.doggydogood.com. In addition to all that you do, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? Every summer we volunteer at a Special Needs Camp - that’s an incredible timeout and refocus of priorities. Plus I really love that my son will grow up knowing so many awesome people with special needs making it really normal to help and teach stronger patience with people. Also our Pet Co. Doggy Do Good - gives back to The Humane Society and other great animal Welfare Orgs. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? I’m a big fan of Maggie Siff, she’s so strong and smart - it’s an education to watch her work. So many incredible actresses working right now. I’m pretty obsessed with Catherine O’Hara - she’s a Canadian treasure. Linda Cardallini. Allison Brie, Betty Gilpin (loved Glow) are Women who can move so seamlessly between comedy and drama. Beautiful. How would you describe your fashion style? My fashion style, wishful perhaps. I would LOVE to have a better ability to accessorize. I’m amazed when I have a stylist on set and they can throw together looks so easily - it’s fun. Style like anything changes. I was just in Austin for a month and it was athletic leisure all day long. Everyone is so active there - I loved it. Who are some of your favorite people in the entertainment industry that you have worked with? For sure the creators of Cobra Kai - Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. Also William Zabka - such great people in addition to being awesome artists. I also really had fun working with Jason Sudeikis on Season 1 of Detroiters, he was very cool and fun to work with. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? There’s no way to follow someone else - create your own way - you can look to others for guidance but ultimately your journey is your own. Be you that’s all you can do. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I’m a witch, I recently found this out so I’m curious to learn more about spells and stuff. What can we expect to see from you in the future? I’m looking to put together a cabaret at some point - so I would say that you will see from me in the future. If you could talk to your past self, what would you tell her? Be kinder to yourself. Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? You’re doing great! Be you, be kind, keep going, keep growing and you’ll do amazing things!

I do not have any pets at the moment, but maybe in the future! What is your favorite place that you've traveled to? I visited Spain and absolutely fell in love with the place. It's stunning, and the food and wine are fantastic! What is your favorite food? Tacos, hands down the best food ever, I can eat this every day. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be with and why? I dream of having dinner with my future soulmate, and exploring how we arrived at this moment together. By the way, I'm a hopeless romantic at heart. What is the most difficult thing about being a musician? As a musician, the greatest challenge is the desire for recognition; however, I seek more than just being heard. I want people to grasp the message conveyed through my music and appreciate the creativity and art that flow from my heart. It's important for them to recognize my capabilities as well. Where do you find inspiration for your music? I draw inspiration from various cultures and their musical styles. For instance, country music and rock and roll bear a striking resemblance to music from the Mexican region, which greatly motivates me. The unique ways they play their instruments inspire me to explore new techniques on the guitar and other instruments in my own music. What do you hope people take away from your music? I hope people can appreciate the music and the message behind my songs. How do you approach the balance between artistic expression and commercial appeal? This is challenging because I want my music to be heard everywhere, yet I also want to stay true to myself and not compromise that for anyone. I maintain my creativity without altering it, as being genuine is important to me. Regarding commercial appeal, I suppose I haven’t really considered that aspect much. In one word, how would you describe your sound? Romantic In addition to all that you have going on, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? My family is everything to me, and that is something I am truly passionate about, especially spending time with them as much as I can, as I travel a lot for work. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? I don't believe I have a specific favorite, as there are many talented actors out there. However, I would likely mention Brad Pitt, since he appears in one of my favorite movies. How would you describe your fashion style? Mexican Culture, I wear a lot of cowboy boots and cowboy hats. Who are some of your favorite people in the entertainment industry that you have worked with? At this moment, I haven’t collaborated with many people. However, I often jam with a few artists I know. I have friends in the industry who are already affiliated with record labels, and I occasionally appear in their videos when they invite me to join in. For now, I'm focused on my own projects until I'm ready for features. What advice would you give other kids that want to follow in your footsteps? Pursue your dream and keep pushing forward. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? I possess what is known as a musical ear, allowing me to play any melody on any instrument simply by listening, even without knowing the notes or how to play that specific instrument. What can we expect to see from you in the future? I'm hoping to come out with more music and do more live shows. So be on the lookout for that. If you could talk to your future self, what would you tell him? I'm not sure; I would probably want to know how everything is going in life. Is there anything else that you would you like to share with our audience? Keep an eye out for fresh music from Andrew Larez! Talent Spotlight with Devyn Dalton
What are five things you can’t live without? 1. Movement – Whether it’s Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu, dancing, or training, I need to stay active. It keeps me sharp, both mentally and physically. 2. Creativity – Acting, storytelling, and pushing boundaries in performance—it’s what fuels me. 3. Adrenaline – A little risk, a little challenge—whether on set, or in life—keeps things interesting. 4. Good Energy – Surrounding myself with passionate, driven people who inspire and challenge me. My family/friends are what its all about. 5. A Solid Playlist – The right music can shift a mood, fuel a workout, or set the tone for the day. What’s your life motto or advice that you live by? Can’t stop. Won’t stop. – It’s not just about resilience; it’s about momentum. No matter the obstacles, you keep moving, evolving, and Minding a way forward. This quote is actually credited to my partner Leo. What’s your favorite color? Green—rich, deep, and full of life. It’s the color of nature, renewal, and growth. There’s something grounding about it, but it also feels vibrant and full of possibility. What is your favorite TV show? The White Lotus—it’s sharp, darkly funny, and brilliantly written. Every season is a mix of luxury, chaos, and human nature at its best (and worst), which makes it impossible to look away. I’d love to be on this show. What is your favorite movie? I don’t have just one—it changes depending on my mood, my age, and where I’m at in life. There are so many incredible films, and my favorites are always evolving. I’m especially drawn to foreign films—there’s something captivating about discovering new faces, cultures, and storytelling styles. Seeing the world through a different cinematic lens is a beautiful experience. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what's their name? Yes! I have Nyla, a long-haired Chihuahua. She was my sister’s dog before she passed, and now she’s with me. We’ve had her in the family since she was four, and now she is 12 - she means the world to my family. She’s the sweetest, most special little soul—my cuddle buddy and constant companion. I’ve always loved animals, especially dogs. They make life better in every way. What is your favorite place that you’ve traveled to? Egypt. There’s something surreal about standing in front of the pyramids and ancient sites knowing they’ve been there for thousands of years. The history, the energy, the sheer scale of it all—it’s impossible not to feel connected to something greater. What is your favorite food? A perfectly cooked steak, or sushi so fresh it practically melts. Bonus points if I earned the meal after a tough training session. Also, fruit, fruit, fruit and more fruit. If I could travel the world and try all the different fruits that exist this would be my dream job. If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be and why? My sister and my grandma. They’ve passed on and are angels now, but there’s so much I’d love to say to them, so many questions I’d want to ask. More than anything, I’d just want to sit with them, hear their voices, share a meal, and soak in every moment. That would be the most meaningful dinner of my life. What made you want to start acting? I’ve always been drawn to movement, energy, and storytelling. Acting is the ultimate way to step into different lives, push boundaries, and make people feel something. Plus, the adrenaline of performing? Unmatched. What is the most difficult thing about being an actor? The waiting and constant hustle. You train, you prepare, you give your all… and then you wait. For the call, the opportunity, the next step. The challenge is staying sharp, ready, and relentless in between. There will be a lot of praise and rejection along the way, it is a constant hustle and grind. On a more personal level, a struggle of mine has been… I’ve always believed that film should reflect the real world, yet the industry still hesitates to cast shorter actors in leading roles. At 4’5, I’ve felt this firsthand. Why can’t a petite woman be the villain, the hero, or the love interest? Progress is happening, but the struggle remains real. I hope to help break this barrier—because if we exist in life, we should exist on screen. How do you prepare for auditions? Audition prep is all about showing up as the sharpest version of myself. First, I break down the script—understanding the scene, the subtext, and what makes the character tick. Then, I bring it into my body, making sure every movement and reaction is authentic. If it’s a physical role, I train accordingly to ensure I can deliver both the acting and action seamlessly. And of course, I always Mind a way to make it my own—something unique that leaves a lasting impression. The key is to prepare so well that when the camera rolls, I can just be. You are also a voice actor. Tell us how you got started. Voice acting came naturally to me—I’ve always loved storytelling, character work, and bringing energy to a performance in different ways. It started with motion capture, where I had to merge physicality with voice work. From there, I explored different vocal techniques, and character styles, honing the craft in the booth. It’s such a unique challenge because you have to create an entire world with just your voice—no facial expressions, no physical cues, just raw emotion and intention. Additionally, you are a stunt performer. How did you get started in stunts? Movement has always been a huge part of my life—martial arts, dance, and high-energy physical work have shaped my skill set. Stunts were a natural evolution. I started training with professionals, learning fight choreography, wire work, and precision falls, and I fell in love with the challenge. Every stunt requires trust, skill, and absolute focus. It’s about selling the action while staying in control—making the impossible look effortless. What was your favorite stunt to do and why? One of the biggest highlights of my stunt career so far was working on Jackpot, a film directed by Paul Feig. I got to do an incredible fight scene with John Cena and Awkwafina, which was a blast—combining comedy with some seriously badass stunts. It had everything: Fight choreography, wire pulls, and even ATV stunts, all packed into one project. What made it even more special was that I wasn’t doubling for anyone—I got to fully be the character. Those are the moments I love the most—when I get to bring both the physicality and the performance to life. I think that is where I shine best. As a dancer, what has been your favorite genre to dance? What is one genre you haven’t tried but want to? Hip-Hop and street styles are my absolute favorites—the energy, the musicality, and the freedom of movement feel like home to me. But I’d love to dive into partner dancing and acro dance. Partner work adds a whole new level of connection and trust, and acro dance blends athleticism with artistry in a way that looks unreal. In addition to all that you do, what other things are you are passionate about? (charity work, volunteering, etc.) Can you tell us about this work and why do you feel that it is it important? I believe in getting involved in the community and making a difference. Whether it’s supporting adaptive athletes, mentoring, or Minding ways to uplift others, I think it’s important to contribute to something bigger than yourself. Everyone has the power to change their surroundings, and even small efforts can create a ripple effect. Who is your favorite actor/actress and why? I don’t have one favorite because I fall in love with the characters actors bring to life, not just the person playing them. There are so many phenomenal performers out there, and I appreciate the artistry behind every great performance. But if we’re talking about people I geek out over—it’s MMA Fighters. I’d love to train with Valentina Shevchenko. Her discipline, precision, and work ethic are next level. How would you describe your fashion style? Athletic—Sporty Spice with a touch of vintage glam and some hip-hop swag. I like pieces that let me move, but I also love throwing in something unexpected to keep it fresh. Who are some of your favorite people in the entertainment industry that you have worked with? Andy Serkis—his talent is unreal, and he’s just a genuinely great human. I really respect his career, especially with all the motion capture work he’s done, which I can relate to. And of course, Steven Spielberg. Working with him on The BFG was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I’d love to collaborate with him again—his vision and storytelling are on another level. What advice would you give to other kids who want to follow in your footsteps? Be relentless in your passion, but patient with your journey. Success in this industry isn’t always about being the most talented—it’s about being the most prepared, the hardest working, and the most adaptable. Train your skills, stay open to learning, and don’t be afraid of failure—it’s part of growth. And most importantly, don’t wait for opportunities to come to you—create them. Also, there are going to be a lot of no’s that come your way, don’t give up, your opportunity will come. What is one thing that nobody knows about you? Despite what people might assume, I can be quite shy at times and very private. I keep a small, close-knit circle of chosen friends—quality over quantity. I love being around great energy, but I also value my solitude. It’s in those quiet moments that I recharge and find clarity. What can we expect to see from you in the future? More movement, more storytelling, and more pushing boundaries—whether that’s through acting, voice work, stunts, or something entirely new. I’m always looking for ways to challenge myself and bring something fresh to the table. If you could talk to your past self, what would you tell her? You have such a kind heart, and that’s one of your greatest strengths. You’ve always believed that if you do good, good will come back to you—and I still believe that. But I’d also tell you to be mindful of those who take advantage of that kindness. Know your power, trust your strength, and set boundaries. Being kind doesn’t mean letting people walk all over you. Stand your ground, protect your energy, and never dim your light for anyone. Is there anything else you’d like to share with our audience? Whatever path you’re on, make sure its one that excites you. Success isn’t just about reaching a goal- its about enjoying the process, the growth, and the people you meet along the way. Stay curious, stay bold, and never stop evolving.

As a first-generation Hispanic American, I find myself wanting to share my story with you.I understand that no one’s life is easy and we all have our battles, my decision to share my story is not an easy one, especially when I am as established in myself, my career and my goals. There is still a lot of pain and embarrassment I hold that even though I am as successful as I am, I still find myself working through a lot of things. My intensions are to be a help to others who have had a similar past or are currently going through their own patch and have stumbled upon me for whatever reason. I have lived life times it seems and because of that I am eager to share what I have learned in hopes that it would inspire others to find that fire within themselves and seek their own power over their own narrative. I’m Jennifer Elizabeth Valdes and I have a story to tell. At 15-years-old, I decided to leave home in search of freedom from abuse. I had no idea what would become of me and I left behind all that I knew. I was on a quest to find myself. The self that was to be my own narrative.I won’t say this is a road for everyone, do not misunderstand me. Although I made it out of my unique situation of sleeping in laundry mats and park benches to escape domestic violence, I managed to subconsciously gravitate towards intimate partners that were in one form or another: abusive. Despite my best effort to escape that way of life, I found myself repeating the same cycle over and over again. I didn’t focus on the negative, in fact, I gas lite myself into believing I was over exaggerating. A bad habit I picked up from the endless relationships where similar red flags were constantly waving. I can’t say that now after doing years of healing, I completely blame myself. As a survivor of domestic violence, I am here to be a mental health advocate for others, like me, who doubt themselves for a myriad of reasons that are unique to each individual. As I look back on my past now that I have become a successful Entrepreneur: growing multiple health care organizations, I am now branching out to share my story and my artistic nature.I hope to one day be a light at the end of someone’s tunnel and remind them we all need guidance and reassurance in one form or another. To heal, we must first identify the source of the damage. I still struggle with feelings of fear, feelings of inadequacy, the feelings of actually connecting to my past. It’s almost like the veil is going to fall off and everyone will see that scared little girl, I desperately try to hide. My daughter was my saving grace. As a homeless adolescent in the smaller cities of Los Angeles, CA, you can only imagine the stories I will unfold. At 17 years old I had become a Latina statistic. The realization that I was now going to be amother, single mother at that, changed my whole world. I was no longer interested in becoming a rock star. I needed a career and ironically enough, one of the few good things that came from my family, was the generations of medical professionals. Whether I was blessed or it was in my blood, I was a sponge taking in all the knowledge that would later serve as my greatest weapon. I started as a caregiver for the elderly which lead me to became a hospice nurse and then years down the road, a CEO of several companies. Although some of my companies have failed, some have flourished and even lead to new ones now in development. Because of my many stages of success and failure, I have created, “From Jenn to Generations” to not only share my story but also the stories of other women and their individual struggles and journeys to finding their own courage to step into their destiny. I hope you will join me in my mission to elevate and guide others who, like me need someone with the wisdom to gently help push them to their own version of successes. Action Magazine had the extreme pleasure to catch up with this amazing woman to get to know her better and we are extremely glad that we did! Five things I can’t live without? My children. I could not imagine my life without my children. My Life revolves around them. They are my stars and my moon. My faith. My faith and strong belief in my god and in the universe have helped me maintain the idea that I was not put here on this plane of existence to just suffer. It has kept me grounded and feeling as though I have the abilities that were gifted to me and its my job to use them. My cats. My kitties are the sweetest babies and so pretty too. They sleep all over my partner and I. Music.I have been inspired by musical artist all of my life. I really do belief we all have a sound track to our lives. I have been a singer song writer since I was a child. Music is my soul. Books.I absolutely live a good novel. I actively participate in a book club and I am currently writing a novel and poem book. Books treasures of knowledge and escape. What’s your motto? I’ve had a few in my life time. When I was younger, I would say to all my friends, We will be strong, successful, independent women. Then I would say, I’ve got this, come on life”.These days I yell at anyone who will listen, It’s a good Life!! – Jennifer Valdes Favorite Color? My favorite color is “Livid,” it is a Gray/blue heugh. I actually have in interior of my house painted in this color I freaking adore it. Favorite movie? I can’t say I haven’t seen a Nicolas Cage movie, if he is in it, I am there, no questions. I would have to say anything Nicolas Cage is my favorite movie. Don’t believe me watch any Nick Cage movie and then tell me you’re not going to watch it again. Favorite TV show? Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hands down. Pre-teen, teen, adult me its always Buffy. At first it was the draw of the story a cheerleader vampire slayer, “like oh my god!” Who could forget her vampire love affairs, talk about every little goth girl’s dreams. Now it’s more nostalgia it feels like home to hear Buffy beating up all those bad sexy vampires with Mr. pointy while I do the dishes or some setups. Do you have Pets? I have Three cats, two black males. Neco & Ichabod and a Calico female, Alice. Neco, I adopted when my partner moved in he is an old boy. Neco is 9 this year and he is a long-haired black Kittie. He is playful as a kitten and loves to lay on top of my partner and eat his hair, which was hilarious to me until he started doing it to me too. Ichabod, I had decided I wanted a kitty, so naturally I had set out to find myself a black baby boy kitty. My daughter went on this mission with me and after a few hours and almost saying, ok, well try again tomorrow we got notice of Ichabod needing a home. It was love at first sight. The problem was the love was between Athena my daughter and Ichabod. So, I was still left feeling like I wanted a kitty of my own. It was then that my step-father informed me that he had found tiny little kittens on the side of the road and if I was still looking for a cat. I said yes, especially in that circumstance poor babies. I took two little tiny calicos with me. I stopped at pet smart and a little girl saw me with the kittens and asked for one. Her mother said it was fine with her and so I kissed Alices brother or sister goodbye and helped a little girls world change. I still think about that kitty and if perhaps it was a boy which is like a very small percent that a calico is male. Favorite place I have traveled? I love to travel! I have been around. I will say my favorite place has to be Oregon. I was able to spend thanksgiving with my partners family for the holiday and it was so amazing to meet a warm embracing group of individuals. They made me feel like I was home. What is your favorite food? Latin foods are my absolute favorite. Tamales, pupusas, el pastor, beans, rice. Oh wow, I just got really hungry. Who would you have dinner with and why? I would have to say Madonna. Why, Um… because, b**** she’s Madonna. This woman is not only the embodiment of female power and how you use it but she is a legend and icon for over these last generations. I have always been inspired and influenced by her lead. I can only hope to embody a fraction of her spirit that makes everyone want to listen and dance. What made me want to become an entrepreneur? I was an employee in my industry and I hade opinions and I had a way of thinking that I was implementing into the way I treated and handled my clients that was unique to my skill set and life experiences. I started my companies because I wanted to run my industry my way, to my personal standards and beliefs of how people at the end stages of life and their families should be treated. I wanted to operate to my level of excellence. What is the hardest part of being an entrepreneur & what is the most rewarding? The hardest part I would say was fighting myself. Fighting my desires and my ambitions. After so many years of being told I wasn’t good enough or that my thoughts didn’t matter, it was hard for me to find my inner strength and overcome the voices in my head telling me would fail. Finding my strength and self esteem has been the most rewarding towards my personal growth alongside the change I bring into families lives in times when they feel defeated and unsure of their futures. How do you hope to see your business grow in the future? I hope my children and my siblings’ children will follow in our footsteps and take over to keep the love for humanity alive within our generations. I hope that we can be the mush needed change in our industry. Tell us about podcast, “From Jen to Generations”. I fell into a really dark mental space where I found myself unsure of my decisions and my life’s choices. I was reaching out for help but I found no reprieve. So, I started asking other female entrepreneurs for their input and their outlooks and what I found was vast un told knowledge from other female entrepreneurs who have gone through similar hardships and have amazing stories to tell. I decided to start, “From Jen to Generations” in hopes of helping other entrepreneurs such as myself who are trying to find their seat at the throne. How do I engage with my audience and make sure their feedback influences your content? From Jen to Generations is for the audience, they are my influence. It’s for the growth from mental health perspective to growth in your industry to growth in your intrapersonal lives. I strife to keep an open forum where my audience can feel we are all learning and growing together. Have there been any surprising challenges or obstacles you’ve faced in the podcasting journey? As a former singer I found it surprising how challenging I found it to find my voice. I was very timid and shy when I finally started getting the microphone back in front of me. How do you see your podcast evolving in the future? I hope to continue to inspire and help women from all over the world. I currently have interviews scheduled for, Italy, El Salvador and Brazil. I look forward to interviewing these women in their home towns in their native languages. I hope that I will be able to grow with my audience and together build something amazing for future generations to have the power of being educated and informed. What other things am I passionate about, why are they important to me? I am currently working on a charity for struggling single mothers that need a place to find peace and shelter while they put their lives back together for their children and themselves. It’s called, "Elizabeth’s House”. Who is your favorite actress? Betty Davis is a 1930’s black and white screen original diva. Some of Americas best film came out of that era of cinematography Betty Davis has a lot to do with that, In my opinion. Movies such as: Dark Victory, “The Letter and Jezebel. All I need is a bag of popcorn a bottle of wine in front of the fire cuddling up to my partner with the rain coming down outside, this is my idea of heaven on earth. How do you describe your fashion style? My fashion style is an evolution from teenage Lolita goth to growing up into a more of a I would call it corporate goth style. Always depending where I am going of course. I still love to rock my fishnets and 20-hole Doc Marten boots in a mini skirt, I’m in all black most of the time. Who are some of your favorite people in the entertainment industry you have worked with? I have yet to have the pleasure to work with anyone in the entertainment industry yet. However, I do look forward to when I am able to collaborate with artistic like minds. What advice would I give to kids that want to follow in your footsteps? I would say, keep your faith and trust in yourself. You know when it’s time to go. Let the universe guild you. I know it sounds like, “yeah… ok… lady” …. But trust me, once you allow yourself to live up to your inner standers because you found yourself, you will only ask why you didn’t let go and give it to God sooner. One thing no one knows about me? I have just realized I am not a fan of, “southwest” flavored meals. Just the other day my assistant got me a southwest salad and we had a laugh at my inability to consume my lunch. What can you expect from me in the future? My goals are to continue to be raw and honest with my audience as well as continue to grow and learn with them. I hope to become a safe supportive space to help inspire and nurture other entrepreneurs. If I could talk to my past self, what would I tell her? I would have to say, “you got this, you were right, everything is going to be okay”. “Don’t stop working hard, you will reach that light and it is magnificent”! Anything else to share with audience? I don’t have all the answers. I only hope to be a candle in the darkness while we find our paths together. I will see you in the middle on our way to the end.
The Rise of Virtual Concerts: A New Era for Live Music?
The global pandemic altered nearly every facet of life, and the live music industry was no exception. With in-person concerts and music festivals canceled due to lockdowns and safety measures, artists and event organizers were forced to adapt. This led to the rapid rise of virtual concerts and music festivals, a trend that continues to shape the future of live music experiences. Virtual events provided a lifeline for the music industry during a time of uncertainty, but they have also had lasting impacts on the way music is experienced and consumed. The Rise of Virtual Concerts and Festivals In the wake of the pandemic, virtual concerts and music festivals became an innovative solution to keep the music industry alive. Artists, unable to perform in front of live audiences, turned to platforms like Instagram Live, YouTube, Twitch, and even gaming platforms such as Fortnite and Roblox to perform for fans from the safety of their homes. Virtual concerts allowed fans to experience live performances from the comfort of their own homes, opening up new avenues for engagement and accessibility. Some of the most notable virtual events included Travis Scott’s concert in Fortnite in April 2020, which attracted over 12 million viewers, and Marshmello’s 2019 virtual performance within the game. These events showcased the potential for virtual concerts to reach massive, global audiences and provided an immersive experience that traditional live performances couldn't offer. Virtual festivals, like the digital version of Coachella in 2020, also gained traction, offering a diverse lineup of artists who could reach fans worldwide, even though they were unable to attend the festival in person. The Impact on the Live Music Industry The pandemic forced many in the music industry to quickly pivot to virtual platforms, leading to both short-term benefits and long-term shifts in how live music is experienced. In the short term, virtual concerts allowed artists and promoters to continue generating revenue during a period of widespread cancellations. While ticket sales for virtual events often didn’t match the revenue of in-person concerts, virtual events introduced new revenue models, such as virtual tips, merchandise sales, and sponsorships, that helped artists and festivals stay afloat. Virtual performances also democratized access to live music. Fans from all over the world could tune into concerts they might not have been able to attend in person due to geographical limitations or financial barriers. The global accessibility of virtual events opened doors for smaller, lesser-known artists to gain exposure and build their fanbases on a global scale. For example, smaller independent artists began performing virtual shows on platforms like Twitch and YouTube, allowing them to connect directly with their audiences and generate income through virtual donations and merchandise sales. However, the rise of virtual concerts has also sparked debates about the future of the live music industry. While these digital events offer new opportunities, they cannot replicate the unique energy and atmosphere of in-person concerts. The communal experience of live music — the shared excitement of fans, the connection between artist and audience, and the sensory experience of being physically present at a concert — is something virtual events cannot fully replicate. For this reason, many industry professionals believe that virtual concerts will not replace live shows, but rather complement them in a hybrid model. The Future of Virtual Concerts Although live events have returned to the forefront in full, the demand for virtual concerts and festivals continues to grow. Major festivals, including Lollapalooza and Tomorrowland, have experimented with digital experiences alongside in-person events, offering fans multiple ways to participate. The accessibility of virtual concerts will likely continue to thrive, especially as technology evolves, with augmented and virtual reality providing more immersive experiences. For artists, virtual events represent a new way to connect with global audiences while building their brand beyond the confines of traditional venues. Additionally, virtual concerts offer the potential for expanded reach, allowing performers to create personalized experiences for fans worldwide, making them feel more connected to the artist than ever before. The pandemic accelerated the rise of virtual concerts and music festivals, allowing the live music industry to adapt and innovate in response to unprecedented challenges. While virtual events may never fully replace the magic of live performances, they have carved out a significant role in the industry’s future. As both fans and artists embrace the hybrid model of live and virtual experiences, the live music industry is poised to evolve in exciting new ways, blending the best aspects of both worlds to create more accessible, engaging, and innovative music experiences.
In the digital age, social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and X have become powerful tools that shape the entertainment landscape, influencing everything from celebrity branding to movie promotions and public perception. These platforms have created direct channels of communication between celebrities, film studios, and their audiences, bypassing traditional media outlets. As a result, these platforms not only allow for immediate interaction and engagement but also reshape the way public figures manage their image, promote their work, and respond to criticism. In this article, we will explore how Instagram, TikTok, and X have become central to celebrity branding, movie promotions, and public perception, while examining both the benefits and challenges that come with their usage. Shaping Celebrity Brands Social media allows celebrities to curate their public image in ways that were once unimaginable. Instagram, TikTok, and X each offer unique opportunities for celebrities to control their narrative, engage with fans, and establish personal brands. With millions or even billions of active users, these platforms allow celebrities to engage in a much more intimate and personal way with their followers compared to traditional media. Instagram: The Visual Playground Instagram, with its focus on visuals, has become the platform of choice for many celebrities to cultivate their personal brands. Through images, videos, and stories, celebrities can showcase every aspect of their lives, from fashion and beauty choices to philanthropic efforts and family moments. The platform’s algorithm promotes engagement, making it ideal for building a strong and loyal following. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, who has leveraged Instagram to grow her empire, demonstrate how Instagram can turn a personal brand into a global business. Kardashian's daily posts, often featuring her businesses or family moments, generate millions of likes and comments, strengthening her position as a key player in the business world. In addition to product promotion, Instagram allows celebrities to create a polished and curated image that aligns with their brand. Influencers and major stars alike can tailor their content to highlight personal values, hobbies, or lifestyle choices. For example, actress Priyanka Chopra has used Instagram to promote causes like women’s rights and mental health awareness, further solidifying her image as an advocate and a role model. Instagram has also been instrumental in bridging the gap between celebrity and fan. Celebrities like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson frequently engage with their followers by responding to comments or sharing personal anecdotes, making fans feel connected to the stars they admire. This interaction fosters loyalty, turning fans into active participants in a celebrity’s brand-building process. TikTok: The Rise of Relatable Stars TikTok, the short-video platform that took the world by storm, has radically changed the way celebrities and influencers engage with audiences. Unlike Instagram, which focuses on polished images, TikTok thrives on authenticity and relatability. Celebrities who embrace TikTok’s playful, often spontaneous nature connect with their followers on a more casual level. Charli D’Amelio, for instance, became a household name through TikTok, showcasing her dance routines and collaborating with other influencers. D’Amelio’s rise illustrates how TikTok allows individuals to turn personal hobbies or quirky content into careers. What sets TikTok apart from other platforms is its ability to democratize fame. It provides a platform where anyone—regardless of their background or resources—can potentially go viral. For celebrities, TikTok offers the opportunity to break away from the highly-polished image often seen on other social platforms. For instance, in contrast to the glamorized beauty showcased on Instagram, TikTok creators are celebrated for their imperfections and authenticity. Other celebrities and influencers have used TikTok to share humorous, relatable content that showcases a more human side, moving away from the larger-than-life image that often accompanies their roles in Hollywood. Moreover, TikTok’s viral challenges and trends allow celebrities to participate in cultural moments that feel more accessible and fun. Whether it’s an actor participating in a viral dance challenge or a musician teasing new music through creative videos, TikTok gives celebrities a unique avenue to stay relevant and engaged with younger audiences. X: The Instant Connection X is the platform where real-time conversations unfold, making it essential for celebrities to engage with fans, share opinions, and react to current events. The microblogging format encourages immediate communication, and celebrities often use X to comment on everything from social issues to pop culture trends. This has allowed public figures to present their unfiltered opinions, giving their followers a glimpse into their personal views. Furthermore, X has played a significant role in moments of celebrity activism and social justice movements. Celebrities like Emma Watson, who championed the #HeForShe campaign on X, have used the platform to engage with their audience on global issues. The immediacy and reach of X allow celebrities to mobilize their fans, raise awareness, and contribute to causes in ways that are difficult to achieve through traditional media outlets. Influencing Movie Promotions The impact of social media platforms extends beyond celebrity branding into the world of film marketing and movie promotions. Instagram, TikTok, and X have become essential tools for studios to generate buzz and excitement for upcoming films. These platforms not only provide a way to reach global audiences but also allow for more interactive, engaging marketing strategies. Building Anticipation Through Teasers and Hashtags Instagram has become a central hub for film promotion, with studios sharing posters, trailers, and behind-the-scenes content to generate excitement. For instance, Marvel Studios has used Instagram to release teaser videos for their highly anticipated films, offering fans a glimpse into the movie’s world. By engaging fans through the hashtag #MarvelStudios, Marvel has been able to build excitement and ensure that every post reaches a wide audience. X is similarly effective for movie promotions, as it allows filmmakers to share updates and tease content in real time. Hashtags like #StarWars or #Avengers are used to rally fans, create trending topics, and track real-time reactions to teasers and trailers. These tools allow movie studios to gauge audience sentiment and adjust their marketing strategies accordingly. TikTok: The New Playground for Viral Film Marketing TikTok has added an entirely new dimension to movie promotion. Studios now use TikTok to create viral challenges, collaborate with influencers, or showcase exclusive content. The fast-paced nature of TikTok means that film promotions can quickly go viral, attracting millions of viewers in a short amount of time. For example,The Batman (2022) leveraged TikTok to create teaser clips and engage with influencers, generating significant buzz before the film’s release. TikTok’s algorithm also makes it easier for smaller films or independent creators to gain visibility, ensuring that film promotions can reach a diverse range of audiences. Affecting Public Perception Social media has reshaped public perception, particularly in the realm of celebrity culture and the entertainment industry. On one hand, it allows celebrities to project their idealized image to the public. On the other, it can be a double-edged sword, as it exposes them to real-time scrutiny and feedback from their followers. When a celebrity posts something controversial or is involved in a public scandal, X and Instagram can serve as platforms for fans to react, often shaping the trajectory of the incident. The “cancel culture” phenomenon, fueled by rapid online backlash, has become a significant factor in how celebrities and public figures manage their reputation. At the same time, social media can also promote positive public perception. Celebrities who use their platforms for activism, charity work, or advocacy can cultivate a reputation as role models. Rihanna, for example, has built a brand around body positivity and inclusivity, which resonates with her fans and has contributed to her success as a businesswoman and philanthropist. Instagram, TikTok, and X have redefined how celebrities build their brands, how movies are marketed, and how the public perceives both. These platforms enable direct, real-time communication between celebrities and their followers, providing unprecedented access and intimacy. Whether through curated posts on Instagram, viral challenges on TikTok, or opinion-sharing on X, these platforms empower celebrities and filmmakers to control their narrative and engage with their audience on a deeper level. However, they also expose them to the risks of public backlash and scrutiny. Ultimately, social media platforms are now indispensable to the entertainment industry, and their influence will continue to grow as new technologies and trends emerge.
