DAVID KELBY JOHNSON FOUNDATION SUPPORT AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS
The David Kelby Johnson Foundation gave the YMCA of Northern Utah a three-year grant to further our mission and we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to them for their continued support and partnership. The David Kelby Johnson Foundation is dedicated to giving hope and vision to the youth of Northern Utah and has been an invaluable supporter of the YMCA of Northern Utah. Their philanthropic goals and dedication to our mission have enabled our Y to create a nurturing environment where youth of all backgrounds can thrive, making a meaningful impact in our community. Thanks to the generous contributions from the David Kelby Johnson Foundation, we have empowered youth to overcome learning loss, offered opportunities to youth who would otherwise be unable to participate in afterschool programming, and continued providing essential programs and services to the community. We are profoundly grateful for the David Kelby Johnson Foundation’s commitment to improving lives and fostering positive change, and we look forward to continuing our collaborative work in the future. Thank you for your outstanding contributions and for making our shared vision a reality. Together, we are building a brighter future for youth across our community, and your ongoing support will empower youth even more to lead healthier, happier lives.
Dear Y family, I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. With immense gratitude and excitement, we take a moment to reflect on the remarkable impact your generosity has had on our organization and the communities we serve and share some stories from this past year. As the CEO of the YMCA of Northern Utah, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the transformative power of your support. Your unwavering commitment to our mission has enabled us to make substantial strides towards "Elevating Youth" and has brought hope and positive change to countless children in Utah. Over the past year, your contributions have enabled us to achieve significant milestones. We were able to serve the MOST children this summer this Y has ever served in our 130-year history in both our Day and Overnight Camps! And we established an endowment valued over $4 Million, again – another success never achieved in our 130 years! These accomplishments are not merely numbers on a balance sheet; they represent lives touched, dreams realized, and communities strengthened. The true essence of your impact extends beyond statistics. It is felt in the smiles of children who now have access to quality education, the sighs of relief from families who no longer worry about basic necessities and the renewed sense of purpose and self among those youth who have benefited from our programs. As we look forward to the future, we remain committed to our mission, driven by the knowledge that there is still much work to do. Your continued support is not only vital but also an inspiration to us all. Your trust in us fuels our determination to innovate, collaborate, and strive for excellence in all that we do. In the coming months, we have ambitious plans to make significant investments in our Y and the beginning of our Elevating Youth Comprehensive Campaign! With your ongoing support, we are confident we can make even more significant strides towards a brighter, more equitable future. In closing, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. You are the lifeblood of our organization, and your belief in our mission is the driving force behind our success. Together, we are making a difference in Utah. Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and unwavering dedication to our cause. Together, we are creating a legacy of positive change that will resonate for generations to come. With heartfelt appreciation, Rich West, CEO

OVERNIGHT CAMP FAMILIES RAISE $30,000 FOR CAMPER SCHOLARSHIPS
CALLING ALL PARK CITY RESIDENTS!
"BECAUSE MORE KIDS NEED CAMP."
"I choose to give to the YMCA because I know that now, more than ever before, children need programs like camp,' says YMCA Camp Roger parent Susan J. "Because camps get kids away from technology social pressures and increases independence, camp is kind of like a right of passage to growing up. Every child should get that experience, and I am fortunate enough to be a part of making that happen." Susan and 513 additional camp families this summer raised $30,000 to help make that statement a reality! It's no secret that time in the outdoors supports overall well-being. However, experts say that concentrated time in the wilderness for children and teens not only supports well-being but is vital to it. In YMCA of Northern Utah Overnight Camps, kids and teens from all over the country can unplug, try their hand at a new skill, make a new friend, and build self-confidence. At the Y in Utah, we are proud to be the leaders in outdoor experiences for ALL children. While most camps that offer programs like mountain biking, horseback riding, kayaking/canoeing, outdoor education, and specialty arts n' crafts often come with a hefty price tag, we're honored to provide families with scholarships so that every child who wants to participate, can participate. Learn more about joining these efforts at ymcautah.org/donate.
Did you know that Live PC Give PC originally started as a way to encourage Park City residents to exercise their right to vote during the first Tuesday elections in November? Cleverly, the Park City Community Foundation jumped on the opportunity to support nonprofits during that time by encouraging residents to also vote on the first Friday of November by donating to their favorite local charity! So, we're encouraging you to show your support for the YMCA of Northern Utah on November 3rd by donating to the YMCA! All donations go directly towards the Strong Kids Annual Campaign which allows more children in Park City to experience YMCA Summer Camp programs! Last year, we awarded over $25,000 in scholarships for camp to families in Park City, and next summer, we want to award even more! Will you considering helping us reach our goal of raising $5,000 during Live PC Give PC?
As a little girl, I grew up in rural North Carolina with a single mom. When I started school, my mom searched everywhere for a program she could afford to send me to for afterschool. She worked two jobs to make ends meet and there was no way she was going to be able to make the 3:00 PM school pick-up time, so it was important to her to find a place she could trust and that fit within our tight budget. Thankfully, she had a friend who recently started working at the Adrian L. Shuford YMCA in our hometown. As my mom confided in her friend about her need to find safe, affordable childcare, her friend told her about how the Y supports families with financial assistance, and that as a single mom of two - she was a perfect fit. The next day, she talked with the program director, and we qualified for an 80% scholarship! I remember seeing what I thought then were tears of joy flowing from her eyes. Now, I know that those were really tears of relief. She no longer felt the burden of asking neighbors that she didn't really know to watch us. She knew that we'd be fed during program so that she didn't have to choose to feed us over herself anymore. And in that moment, she also realized that she wasn't alone. Someone else stepped in the gap to support our family when she couldn't do it alone. As a single parent, that was something. From Kindergarten on, I was a Y kid. I learned how to swim, how to play soccer, how to sing the loudest camp songs, and how to be kind to my friends. I learned how to make the best boondoggle, how to be a leader among my peers, and what it meant to be someone who mattered. The Y helped raise me. What I learned impacted me so much that when I turned 15, I couldn't wait to work at the Y and teach other kids everything I learned there. I got a job as a summer camp counselor and never left! Now in Utah, 17 years later, I am living my dream by telling the Y story and asking others to join me in giving back. At the YMCA of Northern Utah, my official roles are Director of Marketing, Annual Campaign & Sponsorships. But, I always say that my job is to tell the Y story. Like me, so many kids in Utah are proof of what the kindness of others does to build confidence, resilience, and impact in children who need it. If it weren't for someone filling in the gap for my scholarship, I can't imagine where I would be. Thanks to a donor like you, I don't have to. So, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for investing your money into kids like me who get to grow up and live their dream.
21ST CENTURY FUNDS BRING FREE PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS TO OGDEN
The true value of the YMCA isn’t in our afterschool and preschool programs. It isn’t in our community family centers. It isn’t even in our summer camp or ski programs. At the Y, our true value is transforming lives. It’s providing healthy food to children, scholarships for families who need it most, and safe places for kids to learn, grow, and thrive. This holiday season, join us in making our community a better place for all children. Plan your gift or give today at ymcautah.org/donate/. The Y. For a better us.
We are thrilled to announce a transformative development in our mission to provide quality afterschool and preschool education to our community. We have secured the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) grant from the Utah State Board of Education. This competitive, federally-funded, five-year grant offers a valuable opportunity for organizations like ours, to offer vital services to youth and families attending schools where poverty levels are 40% or higher. The 21st CCLC grant program is designed to help transform schools into community learning centers, fostering an environment where parents, teachers, and youth come together to learn and access the resources needed for success. Thanks to the generous support of the 21st Century grant, we are now able to offer free preschool and afterschool at the following locations: Highland Jr. High, Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Foundation YMCA Community Family Center, Odyssey Elementary, Heritage Elementary, and Liberty Elementary. This funding will work in partnership with several of our major donors, including the Stephen G. and Susan E. Denkers Family Foundation, the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation, the Emma Eccles Jones Foundation, and the Ruth Eleanor Bamberger and John Ernest Bamberger Foundation. This ensures that our programs are available to every kid, teen, and family who needs them. Every child deserves a strong start and our Preschool and Afterschool Programs ensure that children receive the best possible foundation for their future academic success. Together, we’re building a brighter future!
