Beginning the week of November 6, we'll be transitioning to off-peak hours in the restaurant, included below and highlighted here to the right. Please note the change in opening times for Tuesday-Thursday as we shift to a 4:00 open. We tested this approach last winter on Tuesday's, and based on feedback feel that it went very well and thus expanded it to Wednesday's and Thursday's for this winter season. Keep an eye out on our Instagram and Facebook pages for our Weekly Specials, along with new menu additions that will come from Chef Peter consistently over the next couple of months. We're happy to be reintroducing Happy Hours, Thursday Game Nights, and our collection of holiday events. We held our first holiday event of the season last month, with nearly 500 in attendance for Boo Bash. Please keep an eye out for more information of a special week leading up to Christmas, with our introduction of "A Week of Winter Elegance." This exclusive menu will contain a blend of refined holiday classics alongside some fresh dishes out of Chef Peter's cookbook! We will be opening reservations for these nights by the middle of November, coupled with subtle entertainment each night from Tuesday, Dec 19 - Saturday, Dec 23.

IIt's sad to say that with just a few days (at best) of golf season left, we have begun preperations for our seasonal shift here at the Club. Before we dive into that, I'd like to again thank Eric and his team for another season of solid playing conditions. Eric, his assistant Jeff Bohler, and mechanic Jon Domning, have 70 years of combined experience at Dellwood Country Club! It is no coincidence we continue to see improvement in our everyday conditions year to year. We said farewell to our seasonal crew from Mexico this past Friday, who we were fortunate enough to secure this past year through the federal H-2B visa program. The legal documentation that goes into this program is already underway to again have these eight employees here at the Club again in 2024. As you may have read in last week's Connection, we have established a course closing date of Monday, November 6, even though a quick look out the window would make you think that we've already shut it down for the year. With a suble warm-up forecasted for this weekend, I hope all of our die hard's out there are able to give it one more run out there! Like last year, we will be using any available time in November, while weather allows, to comb every fairway and fill every divot. Eric's team will also be addressing some ash and willow tree's that did not survive the year that will need to be removed and cleaned up. Regarding the golf course, we had a very stable year in regards to play, tallying a total of about 19,000 rounds. Weather always plays a significant part of this count, as we recorded a slightly later open date this year (mid-April) and didn't quite make it through October this year without snow. This count put us about 200 rounds shy of last year's number, and 1,000-2,000 rounds below peak counts during Covid. For reference, private Clubs in the midwest average 22,000 rounds per year, while public average 34,000 rounds per year. This variance is one of the many benefits of enjoying a private facility, both in terms of access and pace of play. While we continue to focus on both of these topics to best utilize and optimize the use of the golf course, we sit in a very good position in both regards.

Hello Members! This past month has been quite eventful here at the Club. We kicked off the month with two great weddings. Then, we hosted our fall bridal tasting for all of our couples getting married next year. That same week, our “French Elegance” Wine Dinner was executed without a hitch. Business meetings in the Fireside Room have been very popular. The school banquet season has official started. And, of course we cannot forget about Boo Bash 2023! Thank you to all 479 attendees!! We are ramping up to have an equally fun November, December & January months! We have a few weddings sprinkled through out the holiday season, many school sports banquets, many members hosting holiday parties, and of course Dellwood’s annual traditions of Thanksgiving, Santa Brunch, and New Year’s End Celebration. Our membership has been growing in new and exciting ways, making the events even better and more exciting happenings here at the Club! Due to the tremendous response from our membership in regards to event attendance, we have begun a new registration procedure that is effective starting with Santa Brunch 2023, and moving forward with annual member events. It is our goal with this new registration procedure to continue to expand events, while still satisfying all members. The new Dellwood Member Event Registration Procedure: Member Event registration will be available to dues paying members first, then all membership 2 weeks following. The registrations for Thanksgiving Buffet, Thanksgiving Takeout, and Santa Brunch are now available on the Foretees App. A friendly reminder: Please keep in mind that we have three great spaces to host gatherings here at the club: The Tamarack Room, The Fireside Room, and The Ballroom. Our Dellwood CC staff assists in creating and executing events that boast warmth, elegance, amazing culinary tastes, and legendary libations. Most importantly, it is an honor to provide a space where our guests are able to relax and enjoy an event that they helped to create. The best part is, DCC staff takes care of the cooking and the clean-up! See you around the Club! Katie Boyd
And that’s a wrap on summer, sunny warm days, and the golf season as we know it!What a solid few months and great fall so far. But don’t worry, the fun didn’t stop this month. October gave us some amazing memories including great golf weather, a few patio days, an amazing wine dinner, and our annual Boo Bash celebration for Halloween. We partnered with Small Lot Wine & Spirits again this past month to deliver an amazing French themed wine dinner entitled “French Elegance Uncorked”. Marcus and Ryan did a fabulous job along with our team of service-oriented staff here to execute an incredible event. Chef Peter wowed all of us with his French inspired creations ranging from a delicate beef tartar to apple cider sorbet as a palate cleanser, to an incredible elevated presentation of beef bourguignon. We traveled through all of France to taste wines from the Rhone region, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and even up north to the Loire Valley. Thank you to all the members who participated in this event! These events are so fun for me as my passion for wine has grown immensely over the years’ I have been at DCC. My dad introduced me to the wine world by reading Wine Spectator to me in middle school and I’ve been intrigued ever since in the different varietals, soil types, growing areas, etc. THANK YOU for spending an evening with us learning about wine. It was such a pleasure to serve you! As we enter into holiday season now, I’d like to touch on how to make reservations for our upcoming Member events! Currently we have our Thanksgiving Day Buffet & To Go signup available, as well as our famous Santa Brunch. Both of these signups are available in our club app, called Foretees. You can find the page by logging into the app on any mobile device (iPhone, Android, Tablet, etc) and clicking on “Foretees” on the bottom toolbar. Then click on the Events Registration icon and you will find our active events. These signup links are also frequently listed in the Connection emails Pete sends out each week, as well as in this month’s copy of the newsletter. Let us know if you’re not receiving those emails and would like to. As always, if you have any special requests, dietary restrictions, seating accommodations or questions, let us know in the comments section on the form when you sign up or email me directly at brita@dellwoodcountryclub.com. Sometimes our events are so popular, we do sell out. We are delighted to offer events so many of you want to attend. We work diligently as a team to maximize our space and accommodate as many people as possible. We are always working to accommodate each and every one of you along with your families. We appreciate your excitement surrounding our events! We look forward to seeing you this holiday season! Cheers! Brita

This past month we have finally been able to shift gears and try and get as many projects done before our crew leaves for the winter. The warm weather has kept us busy with regular mowing. It doesn’t seem like we have had much of a Fall. Just as some of the trees started to change color the rain hit. This is only anecdotal, but I feel like all that moisture along with warmer temps stalled the color change. Typically, by now most of the trees are bare and this last week we have witnessed the peak of Fall color here at Dellwood. It looks as though we will have a fair amount of cleanup to do once our crew has left. Some of the many projects we have undertaken so far this Fall are drainage projects on both sides of hole 2 and the right side of 14. We have added irrigation to holes 5,9 14, and 18. We have leveled rough and reseeded on holes 4 and 11. On hole 12 we added 10 yards to the right tee and we have added teeing space to the right side of the upper tee on 2. We have moved about 15 trees on the property and have planted another 15. The most exciting part of the trees we added is the 10 apple trees we planted between 3 and 16. We look forward to bringing you fruit in the years to come!
