a sneak preview of ymca mill hollow's upcoming themes! I am one of those despicable human beings... I love the Winter Holiday season and want to start celebrating AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Recently, I wore a snowman sweater to our YMCA office Halloween party, and I had “Let It Snow” stuck in my head for most of October. In the interest of keeping everyone around me happier, I have decided to celebrate all things Winter for one week this upcoming Summer (hoping I can enjoy Fall in it's entirety afterwards). Introducing... S’Winter! S’Winter (or Wummer in some circles) is one of our camp theme weeks for 2026 and will feature Winter-inspired activities (feel free to send the kids with a sled) and festive spirit! Not feeling that same Winter fever I am? No worries, our other themes include: International Explorers, where campers will learn new games, traditions, and food from the amazing places our international staff call home. Mill Hollow World Cup is a fun week of soccer and team spirit as cabins compete for the MH World Cup! Medieval Times will transport our teen campers back to an era where all you really needed was a roasted turkey leg and some sturdy armor. Star Academy will welcome famed producer, Guli Carnicki (who looks suspiciously a lot like me but has a really thick British accent), to put your camper’s singing, dancing, and star quality to the test. We are running Dungeons ’n’ Dragons once again—you do not want to miss this incredible all camp LARP! Lastly, Minecraft Week—need I say more? It’s going to be another epic summer and registration is just a month away, and we cannot wait to see which theme week your camper likes best! Happy *Almost* Winter, Cali
NOVEMBER 2025
changing seasons, changing facilities Hello YMCA Camp Roger families! I hope you all have had a wonderful fall season! The leaves are mostly off the trees up at camp, and we’ve seen snow a few times now; it’s starting to feel more and more like winter is making its way to Camp Roger. That means right now I’m looking at hiring Support Staff, and pretty soon the Counselors and Specialists who are the truly magical parts of life at Overnight Camp. This inevitably, much like the seasons, means changes, some staff members come back and some don’t for any of the numerous reasons that people are unable to return to a seasonal position. After ten summers of my own at camp I can tell you this with certainty; every summer at YMCA Camp Roger is different, not one of them has ever been like the others that come before it. There’s a very special kind of beauty to those facts that extends to each week of camp. With registration fast approaching I sincerely hope to see both new and returning faces at Camp Roger this coming summer to make something uniquely beautiful. Speaking of changes! One of the bigger changes that we’re still very much looking forward to at YMCA Camp Roger is our updated Bathroom and Shower HousE! Construction is moving along as quickly as possible, and if you remember from our last update the interiors of our bathhouses had been entirely demolished. Then we shared an update video on social media (click the image below to view!) where we walked through the framed bathhouse. Since then, we’ve gotten the drywall up and the buildings feel like they’ve got individual spaces once more. Be on the lookout for another social media update for the final walk through before we all will have to wait until the start of next summer to see what the bathroom and shower house will look like! I hope you all have a great time as we move into the holidays and enjoy all of the unique moments that make up this time of year. Your friend in camping, Jake

new systems, new experiences, same overnight camp Registration for YMCA Camp Roger and YMCA Mill Hollow opens once again on December 1st! This is your chance to secure a spot for your camper in what promises to be another unforgettable summer. Looking ahead to spring, we’re excited to share we are upgrading to a brand-new registration system, designed to make your camp experience even better. Once we finalize the transition in Spring 2026, you’ll receive an invitation to complete your registration (things like getting to know you questions, waivers, and medical/health histories). We are confident you’ll love what’s coming next! If you register before our upcoming system upgrade, the process will be especially straightforward. Simply sign up and pay your deposit to hold your place at camp. We want to make sure every family has the opportunity to reserve their session early and with ease. Details are coming soon to our website with theme weeks, session dates, and all the things we are sure you want to know (and we are excited to share) for camp next year!
