It's that time of year again when everyone is setting new goals and resolutions, and the Y isn't any exception. This year, we're setting even higher goals for ourselves to make sure we're always going above and beyond our potential. Did you know that setting goals with your child is a great way to boast self-confidence, achievement, and growth? Even setting easily managed goals like making your bed each day, or eating a balanced breakfast can help kids feel a sense of accomplishment first thing in the morning and set them on a path for success for the remainder of the day! We're challenging you and ourselves to set some goals this year! Shooting for the stars is stellar, but for these goals, make sure they're manageable. Once you decide, share them with us so that we can cheer you on, and celebrate with you when you succeed! Don't worry, you got this!

We're shining this month's spotlight on one of our own staff: Melido! Melido exemplifies respect, honesty, caring, and responsibility in everything he does, inspiring those around him. His genuine kindness and integrity have made a lasting impact on our community. We will truly miss him and cherish the legacy of positivity he leaves behind.

CONNECT WITH US!
As the new year begins, children may have questions about difficult news or the growing presence of artificial intelligence. At the YMCA, we encourage families to have open, age-appropriate conversations that focus on listening, reassurance, and critical thinking. Our programs help children build emotional awareness, ask thoughtful questions, and use technology responsibly. For additional guidance, the Fred Rogers Institute offers practical tips to support these conversations and foster resilience.
