2023 MIDYEAR MEETING Join Us February 18 - 23 in Austin
What's Inside
www.iadclaw.org
Happy 2023! The New Year is upon us and of course so is the tradition of making well-intended resolutions. This time-honored ritual is believed to have originated 4,000 years ago with the ancient Babylonians, was continued by the Romans with equal if not greater zeal once Julius Caesar moved the New Year to January 1, and has persevered through to this day. In the dawn of 2023, the IADC reaffirms its commitment to its Wildly Important Goals to increase members’ satisfaction with their engagement in the association and to increase the number of members’ business development opportunities (BDOs). The IADC’s commitment to you, however, is much more than an ephemeral New Year’s resolution; it is a steadfast, long-term commitment founded upon the understanding that you seek a return on your investment in the IADC. This ROI comes not only in direct business referrals through such initiatives as Think IADC First, but we have refocused and retooled creating opportunities for you to promote your expertise and personal brand, to network to expand your influence and secure referrals, and to enjoy the collegiality and friendship of talented lawyers and insurance executives. As we begin this new year, undoubtedly with enthusiasm, vigor, and hope in the promise of the good things that lie ahead, I encourage you to reaffirm your IADC commitment. I further commend to you upcoming IADC BDOs, which is just a small sample of the many BDOs the IADC affords its members. Finally, I wish each of you continued success, abundant blessings, and countless BDOs! The 2022 International Corporate Counsel College took place October 12 through 14 in Vienna, Austria at the Hilton Vienna Plaza Hotel. The conference, led by Director Alexandra Simotta (PAYONE GmbH), brought together in-house counsel and their law firm counterparts for two days of education and discussion on the latest legal issues affecting global companies. Bonus networking time and small group discussions along with an interactive health and wellness session kicked off the experience. ICCC attendees participated in six educational sessions, covering topics like cybersecurity, arbitration, and international litigation trends, and heard from keynote speaker IADC member Maria Orlyk on how to run a law firm from abroad. Thank you to Alexandra, the Planning Committee, speakers, and sponsors Berkeley Research Group, LLC and iDS for a memorable meeting.
