Message for the Managing Director
Tony Arnold
As the 2026 year begins in earnest it seems overwhelming we now look down the barrel of the Easter Holidays and the flurry of Public Holidays in the front half of the year. Many exciting opportunities are on our radar and I’m looking forward to working with the team more closely as we aim to deliver on our Strategic plan leading into the 26/27 financial year. As some of you may know I’ve been training hard to regain some dinghy sailing skills in preparation for the World Olympic Finn Masters event which will commence next week. In then lead up Australian Nationals event I placed 42nd in a fleet of 84 with a raft of professional and past Olympic competitors from all over the world so in general happy with my preparation. Arnold's have provided a minor sponsorship for the event back by Porsche Centre Brisbane and it is great to see our logo splashed across all of the promotional and media gear all over the place. Looking forward to letting the sailing gear dry out a bit after February and seeing a bit more of the great work you are all doing in March.
Welcome to 2026 everyone and trust you all had a nice Christmas and New year with friends and family. The year has kicked off where we left 2025 with works progressing nicely and to budget expectations. Feedback from clients is our quality is next level. Additional feedback is the culture of our team and how positive and proactive we conduct ourselves. Everyone should be proud of their efforts and the way they are perceived with our clients and other trades on sites. Looking forward there are some good opportunities ahead albeit still a very competitive industry but confident in securing decent projects. The team can elaborate more in their divisional updates. As you are aware we made the decision to accelerate the SGL to align with pay week. Note there may be a one (1) week delay in the transaction to your super fund due to external administration. This is a fantastic step for everyone's super to work that little harder due to the timing of payments. Anniversaries: A very pleasing congratulations and thank you to the below team members anniversaries for December / January. Tony Arnold 40 yrs Kristian Morrisby 20 yrs Jimmy Huynh 15 yrs Geoffrey Quelhurst 10 yrs Oscar Darvill 10 yrs Lochlan James 6 yrs Graham Burke 5 yrs Finn Terehoff 5 yrs A warm welcome to our new admin team member Teah. Please introduce yourself to Teah (front desk) next time you are in HQ. Every week the management team provide a word of the week. This week's word is Equanimity(noun) Meaning A state of calmness, composure, and even‑temperedness—especially during difficult situations or high stress. Why it’s perfect for management stress Managers often sit at the crossroads of competing priorities, tight deadlines, and emotional labour. Equanimity captures the ability to stay steady when everything around you feels turbulent. It’s not about ignoring stress; it’s about meeting it with clarity and balance. In action “She handled the crisis with remarkable equanimity.” “Equanimity helps leaders make better decisions under pressure.” Be safe not sorry

Industrial Project QRCUF Graham Burke
Queensland Resources Common User Facility The Qld state is developing the QRCUF to support pilot and demonstration scale trials of processing methods and technologies for critical minerals and rare earth elements. The objective in developing the QRCUF is to accelerate the development of commercial Vanadium Projects, enabling development of supply chain and supporting industries, and position Queensland’s resources industry for long-term, sustainable growth over the next 30 years. The Arnold team mobilised to site in early October to begin the E&I installation. Since then, up to 40 of our people have been contributing across the project, and the teamwork on display has been outstanding. The project is being led by Construction Manager Craig Bailey, with strong support from Trevor, Ben, Peter, James, and the entire onsite and offsite Arnold team. Your combined effort is what’s driving this project forward. And the scale of work you’re tackling is significant.
We’re installing: Around 3,000 metres of cable ladder and pipe Over 52,000 metres of cabling 1,200 instruments 4,500 terminations And completing around 3,000 inspection test records All of this is being delivered in a tight, compact work area, surrounded by piping, congested spaces, and constantly shifting work schedules. Yet through every challenge, you’ve shown professionalism, flexibility, and smart, solution focused thinking. I want to give special recognition to Craig and Trevor, who led the way through the early and most challenging stages onsite. Your leadership has helped clear the path for the team and set the tone for safe, productive work. And to Yvette, HR, Payroll a big thank you for the huge effort in mobilising personnel and making sure our workforce needs have been met throughout this project. We’re now sitting at 60 percent complete. There’s still a big push ahead, but the way this team has pulled together gives me full confidence that we will deliver this project successfully. Keep up the fantastic work. Stay focused, stay safe, and continue supporting each other.

Industrial Project: 2A Sea Water
Update The team has successfully completed the Electrical, Instrumentation and Control installation for the Seawater Pump Station Package (2A) as part of the WWNP Debottlenecking Project. Led by Luke and Ben, with a highly skilled committed crew of up to 12 personnel and vendor support, the team delivered HV, power and control cabling, cable tray works, substation modifications, control panels, instrumentation, and QA activities, all while managing multiple stakeholders and tight timeframes. Importantly, the project has achieved zero injuries or incidents across more than 6615 hours worked onsite a major safety milestone. With construction completion 28/11/2025. Outstanding effort by all and a project the team should be proud of. Well, done & great work team. Graham Burke
Ferrous Batch Plant Phase 1 The projects team in Gove have recently completed the successful commissioning of the Ferrous Batch Plant Phase 1. The project was success with a very happy client, giving praise for both our professionalism shown during commissioning and the exceptional quality of work. I would like to give a big thanks to Tyler Cittadella and Lochy James for their leadership during the construction phase of the project and to Craig Finlayson for his usual attention to detail shown on QA and commissioning. As with most projects in Gove, this one was not without its design issues, however with the problem solving skills of our team, we were able to provide quality solutions to the client to overcome these challenges. Oscar Darvill
Industrial: Gove Projects
Upcoming Projects Project work in Gove remains steady with phase 2 of the Ferrous Batch Plant due to kick off April. In the meantime, we will be supporting Rio Tinto with the commissioning of the 2A Seawater Pump Station and a couple of interesting jobs out at the mind end of the plant, for the engineering team, including the installation of a liquid resistance starter on the primary and secondary crusher motors. Safety Spotlight Reminder about the importance of testing. All work shall be tested to ensure it is electrically safe, to the extent it is affected by the electrical work performed. Please ensure that all records are maintained and submitted. If you are unsure – stop and ask. Oscar Darvill
Pond 5 Our works at Pond 5 are progressing, with expected completion in March. With the majority of the scope consisting of mechanical and piping, we have been supported by our subcontractor ENAP completing over 3.4km of SNL pipeline to date. We have completed the electrical installation of the first of two generator pump stations. Thank you to Clive Marsh for his work on a quality installation and thanks to Arnold Switchboards for delivering the control panel packages in a compressed timeframe. The client has expressed that the setup has exceeded their expectations. Oscar Darvill
Gove Maintenance The maintenance team in Gove led by Rob, Matt and Dan continue to deliver excellent service for operations. We rounded out 2025 with over 42,000 man hours with no lost time injuries. Our WWNP crew, consisting of Angelo, Craig and Shaun have recently been integrated into the team, which has proven to be great initiative, with the team now having a far greater level of support from Rob and Matt. We successfully completed December production shutdown to see out the year and I would like to give a big thanks Connor Cloughley for his efforts during the shut. Our support continued over the Christmas and new year period, and a special mention needs to be made to the crew who spent this time away. As we roll into 2026, I look forward to another year of success as we fine tune our systems and processes on site. Oscar Darvill

Upcoming Projects As we continue building momentum, I want to share some exciting updates about what’s ahead for us. First, we have the Weipa Shutdown in Week 16 this May. This will be a fast‑paced, high‑impact shutdown where teamwork, planning and communication will be key, I have no doubt we’ll deliver safely and professionally. Beyond that, Arnold has several major opportunities in the pipeline, with announcements expected late February. We’ll be providing full project details by the end of the month, but what I can say now is this: these projects will set us up for a massive year ahead, with work commencing from April 2026. This is a huge opportunity for our teams to keep developing, and continue showing what Arnold's as a team is capable of. And it doesn’t stop there. We are actively submitting tenders for 2026 and 2027 projects and shutdowns, strengthening our relationships with our valued partners and putting Arnold's in a great position for long-term success.

CP-049 Life Saving Rules Last newsletter we also introduced our new Life Saving Rules. To reinforce these we are sharing them again. We have implemented "Life Saving Rules" to reinforce our commitment to the safety of every single person who works for or with Arnold, and to provide absolute clarity on the critical actions that prevent the most serious incidents and fatalities in our high-risk industry, . We are proud of our safety record, but our goal is, and always must be, Zero Harm. These rules are based on industry best practice, over 10 years of incident data at Arnold and specifically target the highest-risk activities we undertake, many of a daily basis. Compliance with these rules is mandatory and non-negotiable. The Arnold Life Saving Rules (overleaf) focus on personal rules which may prevent a fatality or serious injury. Personal rules are those lines of defence that are within each employee’s control to implement. The Life Saving Rules highlight mandatory personal controls. CP-049 Life Saving Rules can be found in the ActionHRM Document Store or on the IMS.
CP-048 Stop Work Authority Policy Last newsletter we announced our new Stop Work Authority Policy. We are re-communicating it again to reinforce it's importance. We are committed to fostering a culture where everyone feels empowered and responsible for maintaining a safe working environment. What is a Stop Work Authority (SWA)? A SWA is the power and obligation of any employee, regardless of their role or position, to stop any work activity they believe is unsafe. This includes situations where there is an immediate risk of injury, damage to equipment, or an environmental hazard. Our new policy is built on 5 core principles: 1. Safety is a cover value 2. Empowerment 3. Non-Retaliation 4. Continual Improvement 5. Shared Responsibility This is a proactive measure designed to prevent accidents before they happen. It’s about creating a shared sense of ownership for safety, where everyone is a safety leader. If you have any questions, please speak with your direct supervisor or a member of the safety team. Thank you for your dedication to making Arnold a safer place to work. CP-048 Stop Work Authority can be found in the Company Document Store on ActionHRM, and on the IMS.

NCC 2025 Confirmed – Key Changes Announced (Source: MEA) The National Construction Code (NCC) has been confirmed, following a meeting of Australia's Building Ministers. The NCC 2025 will be published on 1 February 2026, with adoption available from 1 May 2026. Commencement dates will be up to each state and territory, with up to 12 month transition periods likely in some jurisdictions. Key outcomes of the Ministers' meeting include: * No further residential changes (beyond essential quality and safety measures) will be introduced until mid-2029, following next year's release. * EV charging requirements will not be introduced for residential buildings at this stage, recognising that commercial provisions were already included in NCC 2022. * Mandatory on-site solar PV systems will form part of NCC 2025 for commercial building classes. * Carpark fire safety provisions for commercial buildings (including apartments) * Embodied carbon provisions will be voluntary only. Ministers also agreed there is strong potential to create a more streamlined, practical, and future-ready NCC that supports the industry to build more homes, more efficiently. The agreed work program will focus on: * Using AI and digital tools to make the NCC easier to navigate for tradies, small businesses and homeowners * Reducing regulatory burden across the building and construction industry * Encouraging uptake of modern construction methods * Improving how the ABCB develops and reviews Code provisions, including the timing of future NCC updates Queensland Releases Right Skills Strategy 2025–2028 (Source: MEA) The Queensland Government has released its Right Skills Strategy 2025–2028, outlining major new investments to bolster the state's training and workforce pipeline. Key investments includes: More than $201.1 million for new Centres of Excellence in Caloundra, Moreton Bay, South Moreton Bay Islands and Rockhampton. $50 million to expand apprenticeships in housing, health care, and construction. New Amendment to AS/NZS 5139:2019 (Source MEA) The new year sees a new amendment to AS/NZS 5139:2019. It is a welcome addition to the standard with further clarification and definitions for a rapidly growing industry. Here is a quick overview of the more significant revisions: A new Appendix has been created to assist with the calculation of cell short- circuit current within a battery system. A new definition regarding battery rooms has been created. Battery energy storage system room – dedicated room housing the components of the battery energy storage system and the associated battery system components including, but not limited to, PCE, battery system(s) and the necessary accessories. This is to clarify that a room that can be used for more than one purpose such as a vehicle garage or storage room is not considered a dedicated battery room. Extra assurance of this is contained within note 2 attached to the definition. Note 2 to entry: A room that can be used for more than one purpose such as a vehicle garage or storage room is not considered a dedicated room. 3 definitions have had notes added to provide further clarity and practical examples. Another significant but welcomed change is the introduction of new figures and diagrams for clearances. These have been added to clarify suitable locations and restrictions for battery system installations. Fig 4.1A – Egress clearance in a corridor, hallway or lobby. Fig 4.1B – Clearance to doors and openings Fig 4.1D – Clearance from restricted locations – A side view of restricted locations indicating 600mm in front and 900mm above batteries. Fig 4.2A – Clearances for battery connection access depending on type (DC or AC.) An exemption has finally been added to deal with systems installed in a garage (or other locations) with a door opening wider than 900, Clause 4.2.2.2 (b). exception states: Where an exit is larger than 900 mm (e.g. a garage opening) installation is permitted within 600 mm of the opening. The opening shall allow sufficient clearance from the BESS for safe egress and be no less than 1 m from the front or a side that a person could need to pass. Figure 4.1B shows an example layout of this: It is also good to note that the separate (but repeated) figures in Section 5 have been removed and now just refer to the figures in Section 4 to save duplication.
Full circle solar – The announcement of a national solar panel recycling pilot (Source Smart Energy Council) An exciting new chapter in Australia’s solar power industry will start shortly, with the Albanese Government establishing a national solar panel recycling pilot. Smart Energy Council (SEC) Chief Executive John Grimes welcomed the Government’s announcement as further evidence of the Government’s commitment to supporting renewables – the cleanest, cheapest form of energy. “Australians love solar, because it gives them energy independence and the lowest cost source of power generation. But, the 10 million who go to sleep beneath panels each night want to know that they’ll be recycled once they reach end-of-life, or are upgraded,” he said. “Four million panels are being decommissioned each year, but only a fraction of those are being recycled. We know the government wants to see that change and we support it – the industry stands ready to fix the problem.” “A national solar stewardship scheme will drive innovation, new domestic industries, manufacturing, and jobs. All principles that underpin the Albanese government’s Future Made in Australia policy agenda.” The SEC’s Executive General Manager Sustainability, Darren Johannesen, said the recovery of solar PV panels represents a more than $7 billion opportunity to bolster the nation’s critical mineral resource security. “Solar panels are not a waste problem, rather a critical resource,” he said. “They contain precious materials like silver, copper, aluminium, silicon and high grade glass, commodities critical to our clean energy shift.” “The IEA is predicting a 30% shortfall in the supply of copper from primary sources by 2035, urban mining provides the key solution to this looming supply problem.” “Implementing a national stewardship scheme, which we hope and expect will follow the pilot, will trigger an urban-mining boom, and a new wave of smart energy investment in jobs and growth.” The announcement follows a decade of SEC advocacy on the issue, with over 60 organisations signing a joint statement calling for a scheme in September, 2025. The pilot is also expected to build on learnings from the Smart Energy Council’s solar panel recycling pilot conducted over 2024/25 in Queensland, with support from the state government. “Backing for a circular economy by the Treasurer, Climate Change and Energy Minister, and Environment Minister, is testament to this government’s commitment to decarbonisation of our energy sector and the development of smart energy technologies,” Mr Grimes said.

NSW (Source: NSW Worksafe) Tiger Electrical Solutions Pty Ltd has been fined $300,000 in the District Court of NSW and ordered to fund the cost of an animated educational video as a result of a prosecution by SafeWork NSW. The proceedings arose from a fatal incident on 11 February 2022, when an apprentice electrician accessed the roof space of a residential garage through a manhole, crawled to a junction box and came into contact with live electricity while connecting new cables to the junction box. Tiger Electrical Solutions plead guilty to an offence pursuant to section 32 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW) for failing to comply with its duty under section 19(1) of the Act. The Court found the risks associated with working around electrical equipment were well known by Tiger Electrical Solutions. The Court noted Tiger Electrical Solutions failed to implement and maintain a safe system of work for undertaking work in roof spaces, specifically the requirement to ensure all electricity in the property was turned off at the switchboard and isolated. The Court also noted the company failed to provide information, instruction and training to workers on a safe system of work for entering roof spaces and failed to provide adequate supervision to electrical workers, especially to electrical apprentices. In addition to the $300,000 fine, the Court imposed a Work Health and Safety Project Order which required Tiger Electrical Solutions to fund the development of an animated educational video highlighting the risks of working with electricity, as well as fund promotion of the video via social media. Responsive sentencing orders such as these are part of SafeWork NSW’s prosecution guidelines. SafeWork NSW can recommend to the court additional sentencing orders as an opportunity to build broader awareness, share learnings and further proactively influence behaviour. VIC (Source: Worsafe Victoria) On Friday 28 November, the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard Laing O’Rourke Australia Construction Pty Ltd had entered into an enforceable undertaking while facing six charges under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The company faced two charges of failing to provide a safe work environment, two charges of failing to ensure persons other than employees were not exposed to health and safety risks, and one charge each of failing to notify WorkSafe and failing to provide a written record of a reportable incident. WorkSafe may reinstate the charges if the undertaking is contravened or withdrawn. Laing O’Rourke was engaged as the principal contractor on a project to replace rail plates between Flagstaff and Southern Cross stations. In January 2023, the work generated and dispersed dust, and was subsequently identified by the company as high-risk crystalline silica work (HRCSW). Nearby air monitoring detected three samples which exceeded the Safe Work Australia workplace exposure standard for silica. WorkSafe alleges a risk assessment conducted by the company before undertaking the crystalline silica process did not consider the proportion of silica in the material or the frequency and duration of exposure. It is also alleged Laing O’Rourke failed to conduct the HRCSW in accordance with a silica hazard control statement. The estimated $929,500 undertaking requires the company to:

WorkSafe Chief Health and Safety Officer Sam Jenkin said it was critical for employers, particularly in construction, to identify all potential sources of crystalline silica in their workplaces. “Building materials such as concrete, bricks, tiles and mortar can contain crystalline silica – so always check the safety data sheets before any processes that generate dust from these materials, such as cutting or grinding,” Mr Jenkin said. “Exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust can cause serious health problems, including silicosis a potentially debilitating or even fatal disease – so there’s no excuse for taking shortcuts.” If you are unsure whether a product contains crystalline silica, check the safety data sheet (SDS) or other information from the manufacturer or supplier. Qld (Source ESO): An electrical worker performed work at a residence which included energising newly fitted equipment and altering switchboards as part of a solar PV installation. After completion the homeowner called Ergon to report receiving shocks/tingles from a refrigerator. The electrical worker failed to follow a safe system of work and connected an electrical installation to a source of electricity without testing to ensure it was electrically safe. As a result of these failures, the homeowner received electric shocks/tingles and Ergon was required to test and isolate the affected circuits. The Electrical Licensing Committee decided to include conditions on the electrical worker licence and disqualify the worker from being a QTP, effective immediately. The worker was instructed to complete training in competency units and training in mentoring an apprentice or trainee, within three months. The worker was issued with a reprimand and a $3,000 penalty. Qld (Source ESO): An electrical worker performed electrical work which included investigating a complaint of “no hot water” at a residential property. The electrical worker found the hot water system functioning correctly. However, during the inspection, the worker identified that the cover of the hot water system was broken. The worker left the site to source a replacement cover failing to isolate the hot water system before leaving. As a result of this failure, the hot water system remained energise and a child residing at the property received an electric shock after coming into contact with live exposed wiring. The child was taken to hospital where they were treated for minor burns and blisters to their hand and released the same day. The Electrical Licensing Committee decided to include conditions on the electrical worker licence, effective immediately. The worker was instructed to complete training in competency units within three months. The worker was issued with a reprimand and a $1,500 penalty.
