*Call to Worship
All are invited to read the bold-faced type; the reader will read the unbolded type. Come, seeking God with humble hearts, as we put aside pride and self-promotion. We long to walk in truth and authenticity. In God’s presence, we find value not in status, but in sincerity. Holy One, make us ready to be seen and loved for who we truly are. Let us worship with open hearts, trusting that God’s grace is enough. May our worship of God grow us in faith and in love.

Twenty-fifth Sunday after Pentecost
Scripture Mark 12:38-44 (New Revised Standard, Updated)
As Jesus taught, he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets! They devour widows’ houses and for the sake of appearance say long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.” He sat down opposite the treasury and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.” The Word of God for the People of God. Thanks be to God.

Prayer of Confession
Generous God, we confess that we often seek recognition rather than offering you our true selves. We give out of convenience, not sacrifice, and hold back when you call us to trust. Forgive us for our pride and for not giving as you ask—with faith and humility. Help us to remember that you see beyond the surface, and that even our smallest acts of love are valuable in your sight. Renew our hearts, that we may give freely and fully. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
Silent Confession
Words of Assurance
God values not what we have, but who we are and how we love. In Christ, we are forgiven, known, and loved. Thanks be to God.
*Gloria Hymnal #102, v. 3 alt.
All glory be to God, all praise and thanks be given; Whose Son and Spirit reign as one in highest Heaven; Our one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.

Anthem Sanctuary Choir
“We Are All One in Mission” — Kevin Riehle; words by Rusty Edwards We all are one in mission, we all are one in call, Our varied gifts united by Christ, the Lord of all. A single, great commission compels us from above To plan and work together that all may know Christ's love. We all are called for service to witness in God's name. Our ministries are different, our purpose is the same: To touch the lives of others by God's surprising grace So every folk and nation may feel God's warm embrace. Now let us be united and let our song be heard. Now let us be a vessel for God's redeeming Word. We all are one in mission, we all are one in call, Our varied gifts united by Christ, the Lord of all.

Unwanted Halloween Candy?
Pie
Wednesdays, November 13 and 20, 6 - 7 pm Wesley Hall and Zoom. When rock and roll emerged in the 1950s, ministers and other religious folk denounced it for its corrupting influence, some referring to it as the “devil’s music”. But for Asbury First member John Foster, rock era music opened the door to considering a broad array of themes about life, some quite spiritual. This series will explore some of John’s favorite rock era music with that spiritual connection. Scan the QR code to attend the class remotely (pwd: 200)
