All are invited to read the bold-faced type; the reader will read the unbolded type. The living God, the living, moving, Spirit of God has called us together. We gather in witness, in celebration, in struggle. We gather to honor the love of God made known to us in Jesus Christ. We gather to be reminded that God loves us all. God reaches out to each and every one of us! Take the hand that is offered to you in the love of God. Let us worship God.

11 am
To hear the word
Prayer of Confession
We are yours, God. Remind us that every person is equally beloved of you. We stand together, poised on the brink of even greater things. We want to deepen our relationship with you. And yet we stumble. We forget your commandment to love with everything we have. Forgive us, and remind us to acknowledge your love within ourselves and within those around us.
Silent Confession
Words of Assurance
Beloved Friends, hear the good news. God’s love for each of us is unconditional. Live in to the spark of divine love that God has placed within you. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Amen.
*Gloria Hymnal #102, v. 3 alt.
All glory be to God, all praise and thanks be given; Whose Son and Spirit reign as one in highest Heaven; Our one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
Scripture Mark 12:28-34 (New Revised Standard Version)
One of the scribes came near and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well he asked him, “Which commandment is the first of all?” Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Then the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that ‘God is one, and besides God there is no other’; and ‘to love God with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength’ and ‘to love one’s neighbor as oneself’ — this is much more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” After that no one dared to ask him any question. The Word of God for the People of God. Thanks be to God.

The Great Thanksgiving
Communion Elements are always grape juice and gluten-free bread The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.
... And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
Offertory
“And Lo, A Great Multitude” — Charles Villiers Stanford; words from Revelation 7:9, 10, 12 I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms were in their hands. And cried with a loud voice, saying: "Salvation to our God, which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. Blessing and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be unto our God, forever and ever. Amen."
*Consecration of Offerings and Pledges
Gracious God, we bring these offerings and pledges before you; these are gifts of our love for this community of faith, past, present, and future. Bless the gifts we commit to you today, that they may nourish your work through our spaces, our ministries, and our people. May our giving create a place of sanctuary, a space of grace for all who seek you. May our gifts build hope, healing, justice, and equity within these walls and beyond. With grateful hearts, we commit to serving you with all that we are and all that we have. May our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness be offerings of love, now and always. Amen.
Sermon
Sainthood
To celebrate holy communion
...Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church, all honor and glory is yours, almighty God, now and forever.
And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith:
The Lord's Supper
Please follow the ushers' direction and leave your pew via the side aisles. Step forward to receive the bread. Once you have received the bread, move toward the center aisle. There you will have the option of receiving the juice: — by intinction (dipping the bread in the cup), or — by taking a small cup from the tray, drinking the juice, and placing the empty cup in the basket provided. Return to your pew via the center aisle. All the elements are gluten-free ,and non-alcoholic juice is being served. Those wishing to receive a blessing may come to the kneeling rail at any time as communion is being served.

Prayer After Receiving
God of all, we give you thanks and praise, that when we were still far off, you met us in your Son and brought us home. Dying and living, he declared your love, gave us grace and opened the way to you. May we who share Christ’s body live his risen life; we who drink his cup bring life to others; we whom the Spirit lights give light to the world. Amen.

When rock and roll emerged in the 1950s, ministers and other religious folk denounced it for its corrupting influence, some referring to it as the “devil’s music”. But for Asbury First member John Foster, rock era music opened the door to considering a broad array of themes about life, some quite spiritual. This series will explore some of John’s favorite rock era music with that spiritual connection. Scan the QR or visit zoom.us/j/8347173468, (pwd: 200)
