yjneurope@gmail.com I read through my older editor´s letters, and they were scary, to say at least. The times we live in are challenging. Crisis after crisis seems to be upon us. Yet, we move forward, hoping for better days to come. That is our new normal, and we need to adapt, not ignore any wrongdoing. But to stay positive, enjoy every little thing that makes us happy for at least a while. A few weeks back, I had a coffee with a friend, and we were discussing topics for this upcoming issue, and we talked about how significant cosmetics and skincare are in our lives whether we realise it or not. A hot bath full of frothy bubbles and relaxing music can do wonders after a tough week at work. A calming face cream can feel like salvation for your skin that had decided to break out just before an important date. A bit of your favourite perfume can turn that exhausting day into a special event. What do I do when I feel really low? I turn on my favourite music, hop into the hot shower and pamper my hair and body with wonderfully scented cosmetics. And I feel better, I can assure you. Next time you feel like the world is closing down on you, pamper yourself with that gorgeous-looking lipstick you have been eyeing for so long. Or put on that sheet mask and relax for at least 15 minutes.

HAND IN HAND WITH SCIENCE:
In 2016, Banobagi released a set of four booster sheet masks (White Jade, Baby Face, Anti-oxidant and Water Glow). The company launched another mask pack two years later: the Vita Genic Jelly Mask series, which includes 11 types of vitamins, Jeju-derived effective and natural ingredients, and quality 100% cotton sheet material for the perfect fit.
‘The cleanser tube has a beautiful design and is easy to use. I prefer a pump, but a tube is fine. It contains lavender and chamomile, so the scent is soft, which I find pleasing. The gel cleanser forms soft bubbles cleaning my face without irritation. My skin is fresh and hydrated, with no tightness. I like this cleanser and the rest of the calming care products.’ our reviewer Sofia, 19

The Rejuvenating Vital line, an innovative premium anti-wrinkle skincare line was launched in 2020. Banobagi cooperated with an Italian lab, Kalichem, to extract Sodium DNA that effectively improves wrinkles. BANOBAGI REVIEW
MOISTURE PAD
‘The gel-type cream is an excellent choice for my combination skin. My skin cannot tolerate rich, heavy creams, so this water bomb gel cream is ideal. The texture is light, and the cream is absorbed smoothly, leaving my skin dewy, moist, hydrated and fresh looking. It is perfect for hot summer days but can suffice in winter if your skin is not too dry.’
The formula features Blue Complex—made from six soothing anti-inflammatory blue botanical extracts—and patented Red Snow ingredients made from camellia flower to combat the effects of pollution. In addition, 10 types of hyaluronic acid and rose extract moisturise the skin; lotus and centella extracts soothe the skin, and allantoin and ceramide reinforce the skin’s natural barrier. It has a non-greasy and non-sticky gel texture and is absorbed smoothly into the skin. It is ideal for oily skin too.

Ultra-gentle yet powerful one-step pads to cleanse, refine, soothe, brighten, and hydrate in just one swipe for an immediate skin-smoothing effect. It contains lactobionic acid, a PHA that is ideal for removing dead skin cells when you have a sensitive skin type. Lotus extract keeps the skin soothed and moist, while the centella extract restores your skin's moisture barrier. The essence contains 10 types of sodium hyaluronate, the salt form of hyaluronic acid synthesised to create a smaller molecular structure for stability and increased resistance to oxidation. Its smaller molecular structure and water solubility mean it can penetrate deeper into the skin, providing intense hydration beyond its surface. The pads have two differently structured sides: an embossed side for removing dead skin cells and waste, and a soft side for extra hydration and moisture. The pads, made from 100% natural cotton sheets, have a unique shape designed by Banobagi to adjust to your face: they are easy to use around the eyes, nose or forehead.
‘The pads have a fantastic shape. I like to put them on my dry and sensitive cheeks and keep them there for at least 10 minutes. The result is immediately soothed and moist skin. I use them twice a day, and I noticed that my skin tone and texture are more even, and my skin is brighter and fresh looking. They are easy to use, and the results are excellent. I love the gentle scent of roses.’

Bueno is a Spanish word meaning "good". Bueno promises to provide you with cosmetic products that are second to none for your beautiful and lustrous skin.
This fast-absorbing cream delivers nutrition and vitality with a patented formulation of peptides, growth factors, shea butter and beeswax. It reinvigorates your skin with protein crystals and five types of peptides. It contains tomato callus extract with proven antioxidant, moisturising and whitening effects. Shea butter has moisturising properties and boosts collagen production, while beeswax forms a protective film on the skin to prevent water loss. MGF is a unique formula consisting of six growth factors that, penetrating deep into the dermis, stimulate the work and division of cells, smoothing wrinkles and preventing the signs of ageing and sagging skin. The complex of five peptides stimulates the synthesis of the skin's collagen and elastin and restores and strengthens the natural protective barrier of the epidermis.
The MGF Peptide product line consists of five products: a toner, an emulsion, a serum, a cream and an eye cream. The whole line contains MGF and peptides, which are amino acids that are the building blocks of specific proteins needed by the skin, like collagen and elastin. They effectively improve wrinkles, protect the skin, and retain moisture. All products from this line contain Multi-growth factor (MGF), a complex of various growth factors such as EGF (epidermal growth factor), TGF (transforming growth factor), IGF (insulin-like growth factor) and FGF (fibroblast growth factor). A growth factor is a naturally occurring substance capable of stimulating cell proliferation and wound healing. They typically act as signalling molecules between cells. The multi-growth factor, developed by mixing growth factors synthesised by gene recombination, various vitamins, essential amino acids, essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and natural moisturisers, is ideal for skin that seeks nutrition, vitality and moisture retention. The MGF, regarded as a combination of multiple effects such as collagen synthesis, whitening, anti-inflammatory and moisturising, is the star ingredient of this product line.

MGF PEPTIDE LINE
The serum contains a 50% MGF complex that improves skin texture, wrinkles and vitality. Moisturising ingredients like adenosine, lecithin and allantoin ensure that your skin is hydrated, moist and plump. The patented formulation promotes skin regeneration, protects the skin barrier and increases moisture retention. OUR REVIEW The serum has a gorgeous-looking pearly red container with a pump that makes the application easy and hygienic. The serum has a semi-translucent colour and light texture that ensures excellent absorption. I like to use the product in the evening with the MGF peptide cream. Together they are a powerful duo that helps me fight the first signs of ageing that are now visible on my face. I noticed that my skin is firmer, and some fine lines are less deep. I also like the ingredient list, as my skin is getting proper nutrients that help it fight free radicals and external stressors. I see visible results, and my skin looks healthier and more vigorous.
MGF Peptide Serum Plus
RNW, founded on providing minimalist, science-based skincare with quality ingredients, is all about getting to the essence of things. Their skincare products are simple enough to get the job done, but comprehensive enough to meet consumers' changing and diverse needs. Their philosophy isn't about a one-time fad or jumping on the latest beauty trend, it is about adopting a skincare routine that will follow you from youth to maturity. Think ‘prevention and care’ instead of ‘fixing’ your skin; think ‘fact-based and proven ingredients’ instead of flashy marketing. RNW founded their inspiration for brand ideology and design on minimalism—which excludes all decorative elements—minimised artistic techniques and expresses only the essence of things. They applied the same idea to their ingredient selection process: they use ingredients with proven effects and preferably with the EWG green grade. RNW successfully developed a patent component, CELREDERM® that fosters the fundamental strength of the skin and provides a complete solution for its health. This ingredient protects the skin against harmful environments while alleviating stressed skin caused by external irritants for a healthier complexion. The company invests its funds and time in technology and research to bring their customers the best skincare possible. RNW products also required registration on the Cosmetic Products Notification Portal (CPNP), an online notification platform to submit technical information related to cosmetic products to be marketed in the European Union (EU). The portal implements cosmetic product Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 across all the EU member states. Now you can find all your favourite RNW products in shops and e-commerce sites across the world, including Germany, France, Italy, Sweden and the U.K.
The gel formulation contains 5% of AHA, BHA and PHA peeling ingredients with individual molecule sizes and mechanisms to remove sebum and dead skin cells. Lactic acid is a hydrating alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) commonly derived from milk, but there are alternative vegan sources too. It brightens, smooths, and evens the skin. Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugarcane. It removes dead skin cells, prevents the formation of clogged pores and promotes collagen synthesis. Salicylic acid, an ingredient extracted from willow tree bark, is a chemical exfoliant called beta-hydroxy acid (BHA). Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which removes excess sebum from the skin's surface and pores. Gluconolactone is a naturally occurring polyhydroxy acid (PHA) that can remove the dead cells from the outermost layer of the skin, resulting in a smoother, brighter complexion. The mask keeps the pores clean and the skin smooth, soft and glowing. The mask is even suitable for sensitive skin. So if you have sensitive skin, you can use it once a week. If your skin is oily, use the mask two-to-three times per week to keep your skin clean and fresh. To ensure soothing of the skin, RNW used seven kinds of plant extract, including rosemary, chamomile, green tea, or Centella asiatica. Jojoba oil and camellia seed oil, which are effective in moisture loss prevention, form a moisturising film and keep the skin hydrated even after exfoliation.

This gentle biphasic micellar makeup remover can cleanse even the most stubborn makeup and impurities without stripping the skin of its moisture. Five-second remover allows for speedy cleansing with effective micellar technology. The golden ratio of oil emulsion and water is specially calibrated to remove all types of makeup without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. The remover contains three hyaluronic acids and a complex of natural oils (sunflower seed oil and jojoba oil) to keep the skin hydrated and resilient. Vitamins B, C and E deliver nutrition to the delicate skin around the eyes. OUR REVIEW The transparent bottle is very practical, as you can see how much of the product you have left. The remover has no distinctive smell, so it is excellent. I never experienced any irritation, and my eyes are very sensitive. This remover is gentle, yet it easily removes even waterproof makeup. I use it on my eyes and also my face. Remember to shake the bottle before use to mix the layers.
DER. CLEAR LINE
PURIFYING CLEANSING OIL
BUBBLE DEEP CLEANSER
The bubble cleanser, with 17 types of amino acids to clean the skin and protect pH levels, generates soft bubbles in response to body temperature. Five types of hyaluronic acid, and 17amino acids maintain the skin’s hydration, while a combination of O2 Plant Complex uses oxygen-producing botanical extracts for a more glowing complexion. Cica Complex contains five active cica compounds that boost collagen production for bright and fresh-looking skin. Containing Celrederm™ to energise and restore radiance to the skin, this mildly acidic cleanser gently rids clogged pores of impurities without stripping the skin of moisture. Dermatologically tested and free of parabens as well as artificial colourants. OUR REVIEW ‘The cleanser starts with a gel texture but lathers to bubbly foam that feels very nice on the skin. I like the pump-type container that makes everything easier. You only need a drop the size of a pea for your entire face, so this bottle will last a long time. The scent is mild but pleasant, and I am delighted with the results. It cleanses my face efficiently and leaves it hydrated and soft.’ Milada, 28
A lightweight formula with a refreshing scent contains 29% grape seed oil and a complex of three natural oils: sunflower seed oil, green tea seed oil and argan kernel oil. Cold-pressed grape seed oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids with mild astringent and purifying properties to deeply cleanse the skin and keep it moisturised after every use. Sunflower oil is a highly absorbent, non-comedogenic oil suitable for all skin types. It is rich in linoleic acid, a fatty acid which is good for limiting water loss. Rich in natural tocopherols, antioxidants and polyphenols, green tea seed oil is non-greasy, light and quickly absorbed into the skin, making it ideal for its moisturising and soothing ability. Argan oil is rich in antioxidants that help protect against environmental damage, like polyphenols, vitamin E, and fatty acids that offer moisture and nourishment to the skin. OUR REVIEW The cleansing oil has a beautiful scent, very refreshing. The texture is light, and the oil transforms into a milky white essence when mixed with water, leaving the skin fresh and clean. I have tried other oils; this is one of my favourites. I only wish it was a bit thicker (texture-wise). But this depends on preference. It is also hydrating thanks to its grape seed oil and three-natural oil complex, so the skin feels soft and hydrated, not tight. I like the scent. Very refreshing. our reviewer Miroslava, 36
GENTLE LIP&EYE MAKEUP REMOVER
Beginnings Bekei Korea Inc., established in 2015, launched its cosmetic brand Klavuu in 2016. They opened their flagship store in 2017 in Myeong-dong, one of Seoul's main shopping and tourism districts. Customers can purchase Klavuu products in Lotte Duty-Free mall, Olive Young or Chicor, a luxury multi-brand cosmetics chain launched by the famous Korean shopping department store, Shinsegae. SalesaChannels Bekei Korea Inc.'s worldwide sales channels include Soko Glam (USA), Amazon (EU, China, Hongkong, Japan), and various online and offline stores in South East Asia, Vietnam, the Philippines and the Middle East. Ambassadors Klavuu has an ongoing collaboration with famous brand ambassadors: actress Cha Ye-ryun (2018), actress Seo Ye-ji (2019) and globally recognised singer, actor and model Rowoon (2020). The brand uses a wide variety of advertising channels, including advertisements in cinemas, airports, subways, buses, and beauty salons. Online space is filled with positive reviews from customers, bloggers and influencers. You can find many favourite Klavuu products in the JTBC drama ‘She would never know’ now streaming on Netflix. 2021 Brand Renewal In 2021, Klavuu went through a renewal process. Today, the brand presents a new direction: clinical beauty, a conscious cosmetics production and development based on clinical science and sustainability. They focus on adding value to used things by favouring upcycling, not only recycling. The brand uses cypress water from discarded branches of cypress trees on Jeju island. The branches, acquired after pruning the trees, are compressed and distilled at a low and stable temperature. Sustainability The brand pursues a sustainable method to create cosmetics that do not damage nature and deplete natural resources during raw material acquisition, packaging, and transportation. Klavuu uses eco-friendly, biodegradable paper. For product containers, they use 100% recycled plastic.

KLAVUU, cleanical beauty brand
In 2016, Klavuu launched the Pure Pearlsation Revitalizing Facial Cleanser, which was an immediate success. After the 2021 brand renewal, they upgraded the foam based on customer feedback and introduced the Revitalizing Facial Cleansing Foam. It creates fine jelly-like bubbles, with an effective ingredient formulation for an even better cleansing effect. The fragrance is allergen-free, and Klavuu opted for a one-touch cap for convenient use. The revitalizing foam contains jelly-like hyaluronic acid—which absorbs impurities and sebum—and 32% of upcycled Jeju cypress water, known for its soothing effect. For a sustainable environment, Klavuu uses only cypress branches discarded after pruning. Epilobium playscherry extract, known as Swiss Alpine willow herb, is rich in flavonoids that are excellent for sebum control. Houttuynia cordata extract helps to retain healthy skin with moisturising and soothing care. Vitamin B5 helps form a moisture barrier on the skin and boosts its vitality. The mildly acidic cleansing foam is safe for sensitive skin.
‘The foam has a soft soapy scent, and it forms great bubbles that cleanse all impurities from the surface of your skin and pores. My pores are visibly cleaner; therefore, they seem smaller. I like how Klavuu changed the top from the screw cap to one-touch. It makes everything a lot easier. I appreciate the use of upcycled cypress water and Klavuu´s effort to create more sustainable action.’
OUR REVIEW
Vegan, pre-saturated toner pads contain a high concentration of phytoncide from Jeju cypress leaf water for deep cleansing. Three types of hyaluronic acid of differing molecular weights provide an extra moisture boost. If you want good value and quality cleansing, go for the Klavuu Phytoncide Quick Cleansing Pads. The package contains one hundred 80 mm-wide cleansing pads created through continuous research and development. In the slightly acidic cleansing essence, micelles remove impurities while the embossed pad gently exfoliates your skin. With its cypress water, houttuynia cordata extract and vitamin B, the product provides moisture without irritating the skin. Houttuynia cordata extract has a proven soothing and anti-inflammation effect on the skin. The cleansing pads are excellent for removing residual sunblock and heavy makeup. The product is officially certified by EVE VEGAN, France, and the pads are in 100% recycled plastic containers, a step towards a better environment. OUR REVIEW ‘The pads, adequately soaked in the cleansing essence, measure 80 mm, so the plastic tongs make taking them out mess-free and hygienic. The embossed side is excellent for gentle exfoliation. If you prefer a scent-free product, you might be surprised by the relatively fresh citrus scent. The pads are great for sensitive skin, too. I like Klavuu’s new approach to cleaner beauty; they have made the product using upcycled cypress water and containers of 100% recycled plastic (it makes the container less see-through, which I do not mind at all).’

OUR REVIEW The Ocean Essence Water infused with the booster shot is my favourite combo. I love the fresh scent and its hydrating and soothing power. The toner is certified vegan, and the ingredient formulation is superb. I can wholeheartedly recommend it for sensitive skin too. After a micro-needling procedure, my skin was irritated and red, and I could not tolerate any product on my face except a special mask I got after the procedure. However, my skin still felt raw and itchy, and I ran out of the soothing mask, so I tried some of my sensitive skin products, and it was hell. I had to wash them off immediately as my skin was stinging. And then I laid my eyes on the Klavuu Ocean Essence Water, and I was like yeah, let's give it a shot (pun intended), and oh my goodness, it was Heaven. It soothed my skin, and the itchiness and irritation subsided noticeably. No stinging at all. From then on, I used this product and was 100% satisfied.
Klavuu: The Origin Ocean Essence Water
This EVE Vegan of France certified essence toner contains green, red and brown algae for toning, antibacterial, moisturising and anti-inflammatory benefits. The Origin Ocean Essence Water, infused with hydrolysed vegetable protein, improves skin elasticity and recovery. Sea salt, enriched with various minerals, improves skin texture. Sea water prevents moisture loss. Once you get the essence water, you will see that the bottle is not full. That is because it comes with the 30 ml Origin Ocean Booster Shot for customising your skincare. If you need lightweight moisturising toner, add 10 ml of the shot to the toner bottle. If your skin suffers from oil-moisture imbalance, add 20 ml and if your skin is dry and needs a deeply moisturising toner, add the whole bottle of the shot to create the perfect product. Remember to shake it well before use. You can also use the booster shot separately as a hydrating essence or pour it on a cotton pad and apply it to a dry skin patch for 10 minutes to enjoy fresh and hydrated skin.

ABOUT OUR REVIEWER, JASMINA
MIZON: PORE FRESH PEELING TONER PAD
Kombucha, obtained after fermenting black tea for 506 hours, has an antioxidant effect. The ampoule keeps the skin bright and moisturised, strengthening the skin barrier. Personally, after two months of use, my skin tone has brightened, and my acne scars are almost gone. I love the fact that it is fragrance-free and that there are no unnecessary ingredients which may irritate the skin. After two months of constant use in the recommended time, I used only half of the bottle so it will last for two more months, I am sure. Elisha Coy is one of my favourite brands.
These non-irritating mild pH natural toner pads are suitable for all skin types, even for my sensitive skin. They are compact-sized and have two sides: embossed and gauzed for an even better exfoliating effect. The toner pads contain AHA (citric acid), BHA (willow bark extract) and PHA (gluconolactone) to keep my skin free of impurities, dead skin and excess sebum. Its primary ingredient, houttuynia cordata extract, also known as heartleaf, is a source of natural antioxidants and has soothing and antibacterial properties. The container is very convenient: it contains little plastic tweezers for extracting the pads, so it is hygienic as I do not need to touch them to get them out. The lid also keeps the toner pads nice and moist. I like the fact that I can use the product in several ways:I can use the pads as a two-in-one product for daily care (toner and exfoliator), but I can also use it as a sheet mask when I need to calm my skin. Just place a few pads on your face and leave them on for a few minutes for an instant soothing effect. You can also gently exfoliate your neck, elbows or any body parts that need it. I like to use the pads to keep my skin clean, fresh and soothed. I can see it makes my skin texture more even. Combining soothing ingredients with mild acids makes it suitable for everyday use.

Shiny Pumpkin Vegan Serum is a highly enriched moisturising product that contains 53% pumpkin extract derived from nature to deliver nutrients and energy. Skin nutrients such as hydrolysed pea protein and olive oil are included in a semi-emulsifying, highly-concentrated serum formulation, providing a refreshing feeling of moisture without being sticky. The bottle is made of glass; it is minimalistic, with a practical pump for easy application. This hydrophilic emulsifier has a scent of honey and orange and is absorbed nicely by the skin without leaving it sticky. I instantly fell in love with the light scent of this serum. It has a light texture, so it is easy to layer it with other products. It makes my skin look visibly smoother and regenerated. I like to use it as part of my morning and night skincare routines, and I recommend it for every skin type that needs a boost in appearance. The serum contains seven layered hyaluronic acids, so it has an excellent moisturising effect on the skin.

ELISHA COY: KOMBUCHA GYEOL BIOME AMPOULE
As the name suggests, the hydrating bamboo water is rich in bamboo extract, containing almost 87% of it. Another helpful ingredient, jojoba seed oil, protects the skin and creates a protective layer to retain moisture. The toner is perfect for sensitive skin too. The Hydrating Bamboo Water is my favourite toner because it is free from acids and gentle enough for my sensitive skin. My skin is hydrated, refreshed, plump and happy after use. Remember to shake it before use, as it contains jojoba seed oil. The Plant Base Nature Solution Hydrating Bamboo Water is a product I can buy repeatedly and never get enough. I use it every day and night after cleaning my face; sometimes, I use four layers of it and then continue my routine. I have oily/ combination skin, and this suits my skin well. Give it a try. You will love it!
The highly nourishing ampoule, formulated with vegan ingredients and artificial colourants, contains 82% kombucha extract, prebiotics and a complex of nine amino acids.
Jasmina is one of our best reviewers. She lives in Slovakia and works in healthcare. Her hobbies include cycling and hiking in our beautiful Slovakian nature. She speaks English quite well, so it was not a problem for her to learn more about Korean cosmetics on foreign websites about skincare and beauty. She thinks Korean cosmetic products contain unique ingredients not often used in the Western beauty industry. She appreciates that they use active ingredients, don't lean on false advertisement, focus on innovation, and have a wide variety of product types with exciting textures. In this review, she chose two of her favourite products.
Kamila, our Slovakia-based reviewer, currently works in e-commerce. She enjoys reading books, especially about skincare and children's upbringing. When the weather is nice, Kamila loves long strolls in nature. She came across Korean beauty on social media and became interested in Korean cosmetic products. In her opinion, there is an abundance of Korean cosmetic brands that are reasonably priced and have excellent quality. She loves Korean sheet masks and how juicy they are with serums. She thinks Korean sheet masks are the best on the market. And she is not wrong. Now let's see her four favourite products of the month.

BIANCA´S SENSITIVE SKIN CARE ROUTINE
Klardie Fusicare Calming Moist Balm
This toner with beta-glucans intensively moisturises and restores dehydrated skin and improves microcirculation. It contains extracts of yarrow, wormwood, argan oil, hyaluronic acid, beta-glucans, and honey. The toner has no fragrance, and has a soft gel-like consistency. Though the toner has a minimalistic package and looks simple, the beauty hides inside. The toner is ultra-moisturising, leaving my skin super soft and hydrated. You can apply the toner on a cotton pad and leave it on the drier parts of your skin for a few minutes for extra hydration. The skin is clean, smooth and ready for the next steps of your skincare routine. The only downside, in my opinion, is the bottle type. I would prefer it to have a pump for even better application. Apart from this, this toner is one of my favourite products.
CLEAN-UP HYDRO FOAM CLEANSER
A moisturising foam cleanser with natural honey and glycerin as the main ingredients is a great option for my dry skin. The unique formula has an anti-inflammatory and regenerating effect, tightens pores and gently removes impurities and make-up residues. The package is convenient and easy to use. You can pump out the right amount without any problem. The cleanser has a mild fragrance and dense texture, so it suits me well. After use, my skin is hydrated, clean and smooth. I use only a pea-sized amount of the cleanser, and that is sufficient, so the package lasts a long time. I wear make-up, and the cleanser helps to keep my skin clean and fresh without irritation.

CLEAN UP-HYDRO ESSENCE TONER
Karin is our review partner based in Slovakia. She currently works as an instrument operator in an operating room at a hospital. Her interests include travelling, dancing, tourism, fashion, and animals. She first got in touch with Korean cosmetics through YJN Europe's regional review manager. Up to that time then, Karin had read a lot about Korean cosmetics, their benefits and positive reviews. That is why she was happy to become a member of our reviewing community and has contributed to it since November 2021. She likes Korean cosmetic products because they make her skin look beautifully brightened and healthy. Read about her favourite products:
The essence, made of only one ingredient: pure houttuynia cordate (heartleaf) extract, is a 100% natural product with no added fragrance, preservatives or colourants. You're only applying nature's nourishment to your skin; let me say: this makes all the difference. The heart leaf used in this essence comes from Jeju Island, and the final product has been clinically tested - but don't worry, Banobagi does not perform animal testing. The heartleaf ingredient is extracted using the Low-Temperature Extraction TDX™ method to minimise the destruction of its benefits. Banobagi essence’s outer packaging uses soy ink and FSC-certified paper. You can use the essence in many ways: mix it with your cream in a ratio of 3:1; put it in a spray container and use it as a mist, or apply an essence-soaked cotton pad on dry, sensitive areas for instant soothing and hydration. After applying it for a month, I can assure you it's perfect for sensitive skin, even during winter. It has a lightweight consistency, and I noticed a nice glow with consistent use. My complexion also looks brighter. The only downside: I wish it came in a bigger bottle!

Choosing your ideal cleansing texture

Highly concentrated Fusidium coccineum ferment filtrate solution helps calm skin that has been weakened by external stimuli and strengthen it's protective barrier. The Bio-Plusome™ structure utilises electrostatic attraction and helps to deliver active ingredients deep into the skin providing rich moisture and nutrition. As you can see, my favourite products during the cold months of the year are calming ones. This final product I'm introducing is no exception. The balm, enriched with allantoin and ceramides, has a dreamy texture: soft and buttery, with plenty of hydration. It provides nutrition, and it's helping me restore my damaged skin. I use it during my AM and PM routines, applying a generous amount at night, almost like a sleeping mask. People with sensitive or dry skin will love it, but most skin types would appreciate it too. This cream is my to-go product whenever I need to calm down my skin, providing it with the best ingredients. I love the aluminium packaging as it's more convenient compared to jars!
The Corthe ampoule has soothing, moisturising, and anti-inflammatory properties. One of the main ingredients is the Portulaca oleracea extract, a famous plant used in traditional Korean medicine thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The ampoule contains Centella asiatica leaf extract, an ingredient widely known for its soothing properties. The consistency is thicker than essence or serum, and it's a pleasure to work with since the temperature has dropped! It hydrates my dry skin, and I have seen an improvement since I incorporated it into my routine. It's been in my skincare rotation for a couple of weeks, and the difference is subtle but real. Low temperatures, cold winds and winter allergies are harsh on my skin: I started to notice more sensitivity and flare-ups. This product is helping me restore my skin barrier, and I couldn't recommend it enough. I wish the packaging were transparent, though, as I like to know how much product I have.

Balms are soft solids that melt when they come into contact with your skin. They are oil-based cleansers that are perfect for removing even stubborn make-up and SPF, ideal for incorporating a quick gentle massage to increase blood flow and muscle relaxation. Compared to cleansing oils, the slight advantage is that balms are less messy. But it depends on your preference. The formulas, infused with beneficial ingredients, keep your skin moisturised and soothed. Every skin type can use balms, but they are extra helpful for people with dry or sensitive skin and people who wear make-up.

HYGGEE Soft Reset Green Cleansing Balm
FOAMS
To put it simply: a foaming cleanser is a cleanser that foams. It is a widespread cleanser and may appear less innovative initially, but it offers good results. This kind of cleanser may not be suitable for dry and sensitive skin types, but many foam cleansers now contain moisturising ingredients to keep the skin balanced, hydrated and soothed. A step above is bubble foam cleansers; after pressing the pump, you get a handful of white bubbly foam. If you think this cleanser type might be the right choice for you, read on.

The melting sherbet balm leaves the skin clean, fresh and super moisturised. It is perfect for dry skin but also all other skin types. Jojoba seed oil and moringa seed oil gently dissolve make-up and remove dead skin cells. The product contains extracts from grapes, apples, plums, and papayas to keep your skin moisturised. The tea tree complex helps to soothe the skin. The balm melts the moment it touches the skin so that you can clean your skin without irritation. The feeling is pleasant, and you can massage your skin for a few minutes. You can use the balm as the first step in your double-cleansing routine. However, you can quickly minimise your skincare routine by using only one product- the Hyggee cleansing balm! It keeps your skin clean, fresh, moisturised, soothed and ready for the next skincare step: the toner. The balm won first place as the best new product in the cleansing lotion/ cream category at the annual 2021 Hwahae beauty award, and that does not surprise me at all. OUR REVIEW Our reviewer, Anet, says ‘I honestly like this product. Almost everything about it is perfect. I am delighted with it visually and functionally, and I recommend it.’
GELS
OILS
Cleansing oils, formulated to be easy to rinse off, are oil-based cleansers perfect for removing make-up, SPF and excess oil. They smoothly remove any make-up residue or dead skin cells but leave the skin feeling moisturised and soft, without irritation. Like balms, you can use cleansing oils for a quick gentle face massage. Experts from Paula Choice say ‘Oils don’t just moisturise the skin; they also work as solvents, a group of ingredients that can dissolve similar substances. Oils are a particular type of solvent because they’re lipophilic, meaning they’re naturally attracted to other oils, including the sebum our skin produces and the oil-like makeup ingredients. This allows the oils in a cleansing oil to quickly dissolve make-up and excess oil while softening skin at the same time.’ (1)
Gel cleansers are water-based cleansers with a gel-like texture, as the name suggests. They are perfect for people with sensitive skin and also acne-prone skin. They often contain beneficial ingredients and can deliver excellent results, like cleansers with other textures. The texture is a bit more slippery, but it is about preference. The advantage here is that you need just a little bit of the gel to wash your face, so that a bottle will last you for ages.
This product contains six natural oils: olive oil (nourishing and moisturising), aromatic geranium oil (revitalising), lavender (conditioning, smoothing), chamomile (soothing, eliminating free radicals), orange peel (refreshing) and skin-rejuvenating juniper (soothing, cleansing). OUR REVIEW Our reviewer Jasmina says ‘I never liked cleansing products based on oils due to my oily skin. Once, my friend recommended using a cleansing oil in a double-cleanse regimen. I tried it and never looked back. This oil is super soft on the skin; adding water changes it to a kind of "milk", and then I wash it off with more water. I use it only in my night routine to clean all the make-up off my face, then continue with cleansing foam. Together, these two are like heaven for my skin. My skin is 100% better after using this oil for just one month. It is not the cheapest cleansing oil, but I will consider repurchasing once I run out of this one. My skin is combination/oily.’

Heimish green foam cleanser is a translucent gel that forms gentle foam once allied. It's hypoallergenic and, therefore, suitable for sensitive skin—it does not irritate or dry out the face. I like this cleanser because it is fragrance-free and does not strip the natural oils on the skin. You need just a little bit to clean your face, so a bottle lasts a long time. This cleanser has an ideal composition and perfect ingredients for the skin. It contains Centella asiatica and witch hazel extract, which are excellent for soothing and moisturising the skin, and the pH is 5.5, which is perfect for the skin barrier. OUR REVIEW Our reviewer Monika says ‘I highly recommend this product. After using it, my skin becomes clean, fresh and hydrated. It is a great morning cleanser.’
HEIMISH All Clean Green Foam
FRAIJOUR Original Artemisia Bubble Facial Foam
This skin-soothing and highly moisturising hypoallergenic bubble foam with Artemisia capillaris extract is perfect for sensitive and easily irritated skin. It contains various vegetable extracts to keep the skin hydrated and 40 000 ppm of Artemisia capillaris extract with soothing and brightening effects. Artemisia capillaris is a mugwort species and a popular ingredient used in traditional herbal medicine and cosmetics in Korea. The extract has soothing, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects on the skin. The container is green and looks minimalistic but has a particular type of pump that foams the watery product inside. Once you shake the container and press the pump, you are left with a light foam which you can use to clean your face gently. The scent is fresh and smells a bit of tea tree. OURAREVIEW Our reviewer Mirka says ‘I use it twice a day, and my skin feels soothed and fresh. There is no tightness, only moisturised and clean skin. I love the light, bubbly texture and the scent of tea tree extract.’
Marketing Strategies for Boosting your Brand

Looking to give your beauty or cosmetics brand a boost? Social media is a great place to start. Here are some expert strategies to get you started: 1. Use social media to create a community for your brand. Your social media channels are the perfect place in which to build a community for your brand. Encourage customers to connect and share their experiences. That will help create loyalty and word-of-mouth marketing for your brand. 2. Share user-generated content. User-generated content is some of the most powerful marketing you can get. Why? Because it's authentic and comes from genuine customers. Share photos and videos of your products being used by real people. That will show your product in its best light and encourage other customers to try it. 3. Run social media contests and giveaways. People love contests and giveaways! Run contests on your social media channels that encourage people to share your content or enter to win free products. That is a great way to generate new leads and increase engagement with your brand. 4. Work with influencers The cosmetics space is where all the lights and glimmer shine, and there is no better way to benefit than through influencers. They are a great help, as they can spread brand awareness by reviewing your products and even setting new trends. Influencers often come with a built-in audience, which brands can tap into. Teams should take the time to research and identify which influencer would be the best fit for their brand campaign, looking at their content quality, profile reach, engagement rate, and audience demographics. Besides amplifying your brand's message, influencer marketing can also be used to boost sales and customer loyalty. Working with influencers is an effective way to introduce your products and get more word-of-mouth recommendations without spending much money on traditional advertising. If you choose the right people for your campaign, you will have a great chance of seeing a good return on investment (ROI). 5. Set achievable goals to boost engagement You need to be setting achievable goals and tracking your progress so that you can track results. Start by defining how you want your brand to be: Is it playful and approachable, or more sophisticated and luxurious? Once you have determined this, start setting goals for engagement. Think about the metrics that matter to your brand and what you try to achieve with each post, such as clicks, likes, comments, shares, followers, reach, etc. Set a goal for each metric type and work towards achieving those goals. Remember to track your progress along the way! For example, if one of your goals is to increase followers on social media, you could create an engagement campaign highlighting discount codes or giveaways in exchange for a follow or a share. Or you could take a survey that can ask new users to join. It could be a great way to get people talking about your brand and increase engagement. Unique Brands A brand can be unique only by having a unique selling point in the form of individual products. If a brand's products stand out, it can only build a brand identity around them. However, some brands need more outreach and a small customer base despite offering unique products. Such brands can rely on social media as a marketing tool. Social media marketing strategies tailored to a brand's needs and circumstances can widen the customer base and make the business successful.
1. Know your audience You must understand your target demographic and what they want from their beauty or cosmetics products. Who are they? What are their needs and wants? What are their values? Once you understand your target audience, you can tailor your social media marketing strategy accordingly. 2. Produce quality content When it comes to online content, quality is the key. If you want to attract and engage consumers, you need to produce high-quality content that's both informative and interesting. It could include blog posts, videos, infographics, or other content that speaks to your target audience. 3. Partner with bloggers and vloggers You can partner with bloggers and vloggers who know about cosmetics, and they also have an influence in terms of following on a range of social media platforms. In that case, it can be a great way to reach new audiences and boost your brand's visibility. Ensure the bloggers and vloggers you partner with are authentic and have similar values to your brand. 4. Use social media Social media is a powerful tool for marketing any brand, including beauty and cosmetics brands. It allows you to reach a large number of people quickly and easily and gives you the ability to create engaging content that will capture consumers' attention.
Social Media Strategies for Beauty and Cosmetics Brands
When it comes to marketing your beauty or cosmetics brand, content is vital. By creating high-quality, engaging content, you can reach and engage your target audience in ways that traditional advertising can't. But what does high-quality, exciting content mean? Well, make sure your grammar and spelling are impeccable. Don't plagiarise content from other sources. Give your readers information they can use. Use images, videos and infographics to break up your text and keep readers engaged. Keep up with the latest trends in beauty and cosmetics and write about them accordingly.
There are a lot of cosmetics brands, but only a few people know about them. They have a quality product to offer, but they are unable to reach out to new customers. A brand that doesn't engage, primarily when everything works just on a tap of a finger, is sure to lose its existence in the ever-changing competitive market. Therefore, reaching out and continuing engagement, building a brand image to attract new customers is the only way forward for a cosmetics brand. Some strategies are successful for brand image building and can be implemented for a cosmetics brand.

Content Strategies for Beauty and Cosmetics Brands
Macrovector - Freepik
The global beauty industry has thrived with the evolution of online shopping and E-commerce. Whether it’s having access to cosmetic products that may not be available in your country or being able to scroll through pages of products and read reviews and other content from like-minded enthusiasts, the cosmetic E-commerce world is set to grow and expand in 2023. E-commerce is a term that is commonly thrown around, but do we all actually understand what it means? In simple terms, it means trading goods and/or services online. There are various e-commerce business models, including direct-to-consumer, business-to-consumer, business-to-business, consumer-to-consumer and consumer-to-business. The cosmetic industry has expanded, not only due to the hundreds of brands on the market, but through cosmetic trends, reviews on social media platforms and consumers' desire to learn more about their skin and how to take care of it. So many of us turn to online sellers to purchase the latest products to try in the comfort of our own homes eagerly. Without E-commerce, many of the products we have in our bags might not even be there. But like everything in this world, E-commerce has its pros and cons. Breaking it all down for you, you’ll understand why E-commerce is vital for cosmetic businesses and the disadvantages they need to be aware of.

The Pros and Cons of E-commerce
37
Availability The growth of E-commerce over the years has allowed online shoppers access to an unprecedented range of cosmetics and skincare. Consumers have never had it easier as they now have worldwide access to brands and products. With an audience demanding more international products, the E-commerce market will continue to expand. Global Reach Because it’s all online, an E-commerce site means you’ll have the potential to reach a global audience. If your sites is online, anyone from anywhere can find you anytime. Another bonus to E-commerce is the 24/7 access customers have to your site, allowing you to gain traffic and customers anytime. Lower Costs From a business costing standpoint, an E-commerce site for your company allows you to avoid the costs of running a physical store. This includes rent, salaries for multiple employees, inventory and more. That’s not to say that E-commerce sites don’t come with their costs, such as domain charges, warehouse costs, shipping etc. But in the long run, it may be more cost-effective to have an E-commerce site assisted by a few pop-up stores from time to time. Personalisation As with all sites, you’ll get that slightly annoying pop-up asking you to ‘allow cookies.’ One positive aspect of E-commerce sites and that cookie page is that by using your information and data, you, the customer, can receive personalised ads and recommendations based on your browsing and purchases on the website. This means that you, as a customer, will get helpful and thoughtful recommendations. And as a business, you can learn more about what your customers want, like and need.
38
Limited Customer Service One aspect that online stores can’t offer compared to in-store experiences is instant customer service. Whenever customers need help, they can approach a staff member and instantly get assistance. This compares to E-commerce, where even though they offer customer support, it may be inactive at particular hours, which can be counterintuitive as the site is available 24/7. Limited Product Experience When shopping in-store, customers can have an extensive product experience. Conversing with shop assistants about the product, they can also get a feel of the product in real life and on their skin before committing to a purchase. This is one important aspect that E-commerce cannot offer. Whilst many E-commerce cosmetics sites try to combat this with videos, reviews and images, it still doesn’t beat seeing the real thing. Wait Times One disadvantage to E-commerce sites is the wait times. Whether that be customers waiting for customer service or the product itself. Compared to visiting a shop, where they can go home with the product that same day, they have to wait a few days, some even longer, depending on the product’s location. E-commerce sites are tackling this disadvantage by offering next-day and express delivery options to those who can’t wait to get their hands on the latest products. Another disadvantage of E-commerce is the waiting lists for products that become out of stock. Because E-commerce has allowed more people than ever access to the latest brands and products, it’s very frequent for products to sell out fast, which comes with a potentially long waiting time for them to be restocked.
And why is it important to your business
Customer engagement
Focus on Customer Engagement Customer engagement is a buzzword/term that is often thrown around. As more of us reach for the search bar to find our next purchase rather than enter a store, brands need to focus more on the kinds of engagement they create with their customers and online visitors. With online competitors looking for new ways to grab the customers' attention, a lot of noise can be made from an overload of customer engagement content. Whilst it's an essential aspect that your business/brand should practice in order to expand your customer database, it's all about finding the right balance. To make the engagement work, you need to know who your customers are, what they like and how to approach them. Using the social media application statistic is a good start if your business focuses on e-commerce. If you run a retail shop, a great way is to personally meet them, whether that is in the shop or at an event you have organised for your loyal customers. A good connection with your buyer is always a plus that benefits both parties. What Is Customer Engagement? From the outset, the term is self-explanatory: in simple terms, it means engaging with your current and potential customers. Whilst it only applies to one aspect of the in-store experience, customer and store worker engagement, it expands to another degree in the online world. Online customer engagement has grown and evolved over the past few years due to the evolution of online shopping and social platforms, where many consume content daily. When discussing customer engagement online, this applies to multiple avenues such as texts, emails, social media posts, videos, chat widgets etc. Customer engagement begins with the consumers' first point of contact/interaction with your brand/business. Whereas before, customers had to purchase before you could engage with them, nowadays, there are various ways you can reach potential customers without them having to buy something. Customer engagement isn't about a single interaction with them, it is about creating an ongoing rapport.

Cons of E-commerce

How to Enhance Your Customer Engagement There are many forms of content and points of contact that you can employ to reach your customers/consumers; it's about using each one methodically by creating the correct forms of content. The most common way of creating customer engagement is through email marketing. Gaining more customers by signing up to receive promotions, early access, news etc., is a great way to draw a customer back onto your site. This has expanded for many companies by introducing loyalty schemes. As the social media landscape expands, customers are now given a choice of the way they consume content and the content they choose to consume. Brands now need to meet their consumers' needs and deliver a cross-channel experience. That means being active on all platforms, such as Twitter, Instagram and TikTok, and creating content that does well on the sites. Creating content to engage customers continues. It's all about your interaction with them. Positive and negative comments are about building a brand that listens and interacts with its customers. That will create a sense of transparency between your brand and the customer, allowing the consumer to develop trust in your brand. One thing lockdown did to the e-commerce world was make brands realise how vital online customer engagement is. Since the pandemic, many brands have focused on reaching their customers in new and exciting ways, whether through social media competitions, challenges, online booking services, or online events. Many companies within the beauty/skincare industry began to hold virtual master classes and events, which allowed them to reach a much bigger audience, and allowed customers to feel included. Marc Jacobs held a Zoom virtual party for the release of their new perfume "Perfect" back in 2020, which turned out to be a success. Beauty brands such as Dior and Bobbie Brown have started to live-stream events and offer online master classes featuring new products and industry professionals. Large e-commerce sites such as Space NK and Cult Beauty have followed suit, offering customers virtual events that allow them to interact with makeup artists, etc., in a new way. The Importance of Customer Engagement Brands that create an engaging world for their customers are more likely to drive revenues and develop strong customer relationships. In return, customers will make repeat purchases and recommendations to friends and family. Customer engagement is about going further than the initial touchpoint. It's about developing that relationship and enhancing the consumers' interaction with your brand, whether that's through social media or e-commerce. As the online world develops further, the average consumer will look to feel more included within a brand and feel recognised by them. If a consumer feels they need more engagement, they may look to other brands to gain the level of interaction they desire. That is why businesses need to utilise customer engagement on multiple platforms, as it's inexpensive, yet vital for a company to grow.
