PRELUDE: Duane Prill, organ Partita on “Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven” — Robert Hobby INTROIT: As the sun doth daily rise, brightening all the morning skies, so to thee with one accord lift we up our hearts, O Lord. (Words: Latin, tr. J. Masters and Horatio Nelson; Tune: Innocents, 19th-c. English) *CALL TO WORSHIP The Holy One says: "I will gather them." We come trusting God's promise. Some have always known they belonged. Some have spent years wondering. God's welcome is wider than we imagine. God gathers people from many stories, many journeys, and many places. We worship the One who calls each of us beloved. *PROCESSIONAL HYMN: #548 “In Christ There is No East or West” *WELCOME *GATHERING HYMN: #554 “All Praise to Our Redeeming Lord”, vv. 1-3 PRAYER OF CONFESSION God of grace, you see in us gifts we often overlook and possibilities we have not yet imagined. Yet we confess that we sometimes live from fear rather than trust. We cling to old assumptions, hold tightly to familiar boundaries, and forget that your Spirit is always creating something new. When we are tempted to judge, teach us curiosity. When we are tempted to exclude, teach us generosity. When we are tempted to despair, remind us that your vision is always larger than our own. Continue your work within us, until our lives more fully reflect the height and width and depth of your love. We ask it in Jesus’ name. Amen. SILENT CONFESSION WORDS OF ASSURANCE The Holy One declares: "My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples." God's promise is not diminished by human limits. God gathers, blesses, and calls all people by name. Thanks be to God, who makes room for us all. *GLORIA (#102, “Now Thank We All Our God”, v. 3 alt.) All glory be to God, all praise and thanks be given; Whose Son and Spirit reign as one in highest Heaven; Our one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore. SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 56:1-8 (Common English Bible) The Lord says: Act justly and do what is righteous, because my salvation is coming soon, and my righteousness will be revealed. Happy is the one who does this, the person who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath, not making it impure, and avoids doing any evil. Don’t let the immigrant who has joined with the Lord say, “The Lord will exclude me from the people.” And don’t let the eunuch say, “I’m just a dry tree.” The Lord says: To the eunuchs who keep my sabbaths, choose what I desire, and remain loyal to my covenant. In my temple and courts, I will give them a monument and a name better than sons and daughters. I will give to them an enduring name that won’t be removed. The immigrants who have joined me, serving me and loving my name, becoming my servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath without making it impure, and those who hold fast to my covenant: I will bring them to my holy mountain, and bring them joy in my house of prayer. I will accept their entirely burned offerings and sacrifices on my altar. My house will be known as a house of prayer for all peoples, says the Lord God, who gathers Israel’s outcasts. I will gather still others to those I have already gathered. For the Word of God in Scripture. For the Word of God among us. For the Word of God within us. Thanks be to God. ANTHEM: Summer Choir “We the Lord’s People” — words and music by Jeffrey Rickard We the Lord’s people, heart and voice uniting, Praise him who called us out of darkness, light and truth revealing. Bring we now before him all our gladness and joy. O God, Creator, Son and Holy Spirit, Trinity blessed, heavenly light, the source of our salvation. Shine forth in our living, now and ever. Amen. CHILDREN'S TIME: Children of all ages are invited to join us in this special moment. LORD’S PRAYER Our Father (or Our God), who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. *HYMN: #560 “Help Us Accept Each Other” SERMON CALL TO PRAYER Quickened by the Spirit’s grace all thy holy will to trace while we daily search thy Word, wisdom true impart, O Lord. (Words: Latin, tr. J. Masters and Horatio Nelson; Tune: Innocents, 19th-c. English) PASTORAL PRAYER INVITATION TO DISCIPLESHIP AND ENGAGEMENT: We are delighted you have joined us and ask that you sign and pass the ritual of friendship pad from the center aisle down the pew. We are looking for volunteers to join us for this growing season. Everyone is welcome! There is plenty of flexibility, and volunteers can help in ways that fit their schedule and interest. Tasks may include planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, garden upkeep, or delivering produce. Whether you can volunteer regularly or occasionally, your time and support make a difference. If you're interested email programs@asburyfirst.org
Mission Trip Prayer Partners Interested in connecting with our high schoolers as they travel to West Virginia for their mission trip this July? Please consider signing up to be a Prayer Partner! In addition to keeping them in your prayers throughout the week, Prayer Partners write a letter to their assigned youth that will encourage them while they're on the trip. Please contact Alex at ahunt@asburyfirst.org to sign up or for more information!
Memorial Service Volunteers Needed! Want to make a meaningful difference? Join our hospitality ministry and help families feel welcome during Memorial Services! You'll assist with setting up the Gathering Center, prepping beverages, plating food, and tidying up afterward — about 4 hours per Service. Weekday and weekend availability is a plus (sometimes on short notice), but all are welcome! Reach out to hospitality@asburyfirst.org to get involved.
Chapel Challenge: Filling the Blessing Box June’s Chapel Challenge will help fill the “blessing box”, first established at Christmas time to provide easy access to single-serve food and drinks without need for cooking or can openers. The box is located on our front lawn, near East Ave. Some suggestions for donations: tuna packets, Vienna sausages, fruit cups, apple sauce, pudding, bottled water, protein drinks, baked beans, corn niblets, cracker packs. Please avoid foods that will melt or spoil in summer heat. Please drop them off near the rail in the front of the Children's Chapel before or after services.
Asbury First Community Garden Wants You!

Our hope is to get to know you better and help you find your place within this community. You can also drop an email to info@asburyfirst.org. If you’re participating offsite, check in through the website or take a picture and post it on social media using #asburyfirstathome. ACCESSIBILITY FOR ALL Large print bulletins and hymnals are available from the ushers. A hearing loop is available for those who have hearing aids with T switches, and you may also request earphones from the ushers to aid you in hearing the service. The screens located in the sanctuary display the service stream to aid in visibility. Please help us welcome differently-abled worshipers and visitors by not interacting with or distracting service animals. Need prayer? Share your prayer requests by filling out one of the prayer cards found in the pews or by emailing prayers@asburyfirst.org. All requests are prayed over by the Ministers and Intercessory Prayer Team. Children Children are welcome in worship at Asbury First and activity bags are available at each entrance of the Sanctuary. Children of all ages are invited to come forward for Children’s Time during worship; then, 4-year-olds through 5th grade can leave for Sunday School or return to their caretaker for the remainder of the service. Check the calendar in the bulletin for Sunday School pick-up location. Nursery childcare is provided for children three and under for the duration of the service in the Education Wing.
