Prelude
Partita on “Veni, Creator Spiritus” — Austin C. Lovelace “Holy Spirit, Ever Dwelling” — Michael Burkhardt
Introit
Like the murmur of the dove’s song, like the promise of her flight, like the vigor of the wind’s rush, like the new flame’s eager might: Come, Holy Spirit, come. (Words: Carl P. Daw; Tune: Bridegroom, Peter Cutts)
*Call to Worship
All are invited to read the bold-faced type; the reader will read the unbolded type. The Spirit of God has been poured out on all flesh — young and old, dreamers and prophets, seekers and skeptics. The Church was born in wind and flame, not to stay safe, but to speak boldly. We gather, filled with breath and purpose, open to the fire of God’s love. The Spirit moves still — in voices raised for justice, in lives lived with compassion. We are the body of Christ, alive with holy power. Let us worship with joy!

Pentecost Sunday
Prayer of Confession
Spirit of truth and fire, we confess that we tame your flame. We settle for safe answers and familiar ways. We silence your voice when it disrupts our comfort or challenges our assumptions. We resist your movement when it leads us to unfamiliar places or unfamiliar people. Forgive us. Stir up your Spirit within us. Set our hearts ablaze with courage, that we may speak your truth, live your love, and embody your grace in all the world. Amen.
Silent Confession
Words of Assurance
The Spirit comes not to condemn, but to revive, renew, and restore. God’s grace is poured out upon us, freely and fully. Thanks be to God!
*Gloria Hymnal #102, v. 3 alt.
All glory be to God, all praise and thanks be given; Whose Son and Spirit reign as one in highest Heaven; Our one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
