Let’s rejoice in the fellowship that surrounds us! *PROCESSIONAL HYMN: #733 "Marching to Zion" *WELCOME – Lydia Beach *GATHERING HYMN: #605 "Wash, O God, Our Sons and Daughters" PRAYER OF CONFESSION - Ethan Hildreth Lord, you know our hearts inside and out. You know where we have been and what we have been through. For the times when we don’t know what to do, we ask for guidance. For the times when we have chosen to be less than loving, we ask for forgiveness. For all that needs healing within us and our community, we ask for your grace and strength. Hear us, O God, as we pray. SILENT CONFESSION – Alessandro Bucci WORDS OF ASSURANCE - Camden Ebenhoe Friends, hear this good news: there is nothing that can stand between us and the love of God. You are here. You are loved. You are forgiven. God’s love is here! We are all forgiven! Amen. *GLORIA (#102, “Now Thank We All Our God”, v. 3 alt.) All glory be to God, all praise and thanks be given; Whose Son and Spirit reign as one in highest Heaven; Our one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore. SCRIPTURE: 2 Samuel 6:1-2, 12-15, NRSVUE - Gillian Allen David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. David and all the people with him set out and went from Baale-judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the Lord of hosts who is enthroned on the cherubim. It was told King David, “The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing, and when those who bore the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatted calf. David danced before the Lord with all his might; David was girded with a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet. For the Word of God in Scripture. For the Word of God among us. For the Word of God within us. Thanks be to God. ANTHEM: “Like an Eagle” sung by the Youth Choir CHILDREN'S TIME: – Denise Snyder Smith and Zachary Dennison Children of all ages are invited to join us in this special moment. LORD’S PRAYER Our Father (or Our God), who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Celebrations and concerns
We are looking for volunteers to join us for this growing season. No gardening experience is needed - everyone is welcome. We provide fresh produce to our Dining and Caring Center, and to Food Pantries in Rochester. There is plenty of flexibility, and volunteers can help in ways that fit their schedule and interest. Tasks may include planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, garden upkeep, or delivering produce. Whether you can volunteer regularly or occasionally, your time and support make a difference. As spring explodes into life around us, our sanctuary welcomes a beautiful new addition: a set of green paraments, now hanging from the altar and lectern. These stunning works will remain in place throughout the Spring and Summer season of Ordinary Time. The paraments were lovingly crafted by artist and longtime Asbury First member Linda McMillion Clemow, and are offered as a gift in memory of her parents, Jim and Joanne McMillion, who were also cherished members of this congregation. We are grateful to Linda for sharing her artistry and honoring her family's legacy through this meaningful contribution to our worship space.
Love God and Neighbor. Live Fully. Serve All. Repeat.
