Prelude
Variations on “Holy, Holy, Holy” — arr. Austin Lovelace, Alfred Fedak
*Call to Worship
All are invited to read the bold-faced type; the reader will read the unbolded type. The blessing of the Holy Trinity, Three in One, be in our meeting and our greeting. The blessing of the Holy Trinity, Three in One, be in the worship we share and the words of our prayer. The blessing of the Holy Trinity, Three in One, be in our living and our breathing, that through our hearts and our words God’s truth may be heard.

Trinity Sunday
11 am
“Baptized in Water”
Prayer of Confession
O God, You are holy, and your holiness surrounds us and calls our name. You wait to meet us, to make us loving with your love, and to make us hopeful with your hope. In your presence, we bow our heads in shame where we have failed others, failed ourselves and failed you. Touch us with the tenderness of your forgiveness.
Silent Confession
Words of Assurance
God dwells in us as in a holy temple, bringing stillness where there is chaos, and love where there is anger and hatred. Be still and know the redeeming power and love of God: Creator, Sustainer, and Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Amen.
*Gloria Hymnal #102, v. 3 alt.
All glory be to God, all praise and thanks be given; Whose Son and Spirit reign as one in highest Heaven; Our one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
TO CELEBRATE BAPTISM
Prayer
Hymnal #611, v. 1
Child of blessing, child of promise, baptized with the Spirit's sign; with this water God has sealed you unto love and grace divine.
To hear the word
Scripture Romans 8:12-17
So then, siblings, we are obligated, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh — for if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of bondage to fall back into fear, but you received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if we in fact suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him. The Word of God for the People of God. Thanks be to God.
Anthem
"We Then Shall Live" — melody by Jean Sibelius (“Finlandia”), arr. Lloyd Larson; words by Gloria Gaither, alt. We then shall live as those who’ve been forgiven. We'll walk with joy to know our debts are paid. We know my name is clear before my Father; We are God’s own, and we are not afraid. So, greatly pardoned, We'll forgive each other; The law of love we gladly will obey. (continued on next page)
Presentation, Vows, and Baptism
Adeline Elizabeth Szmania, born June 28, 2020, child of Dave and Leighann Szmania
Congregational Response
Members of the household of faith, I commend to your love and care this child, whom we this day recognize as a member of the family of God. Will you endeavor so to live that she may grow in the knowledge and love of God, through our Savior Jesus Christ? With God's help we will so order our lives after the example of Christ, that this child, surrounded by steadfast love, may be established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal.
Call to Prayer
Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness; make thy way plain before my face. For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord only that makest me dwell in safety. (Words: Psalm 5:8, 4:8; Music: Samuel Wesley)
Pastoral Prayer
Anthem (Cont'd)
We then shall live as those who’ve learned compassion. We've been so loved, that we'll risk loving too. We know how fear builds walls instead of bridges; We'll dare to see another's point of view. And when relationships demand commitment, Then we'll be there to care and follow through. Your kingdom come around and through and in us; Your power and glory, let them shine through us. Your hallowed name, O may we bear with honor, And may your living kingdom come in us. The Bread of Life, O may we share with honor, And may you feed a hungry world through us. Amen.
Children's Time
Children of all ages are invited to join us in this special moment.
Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
*Hymn
#393 "Spirit of the Living God", sung twice
Sermon
On the Trinity, Part III…ish
*Prayer of Dedication
Loving God, may our generosity reflect gratitude for your blessings. Guide us in discipleship. With every gift, we express our commitment to follow your call. Amen.
