Introit
All glory be unto you, Lord, all glory we give to you. All honor we give unto you, Lord, all glory, all honor, all praise. We give them unto you. Amen. (Words and music by Michael Kenneth Ross)
*Call to Worship
All are invited to read the bold-faced type; the reader will read the unbolded type. Come, all who long for the justice of God’s kingdom. We come, ready to hear the good news of Jesus. Come, all who hunger for righteousness and thirst for truth. We come, seeking the way of Christ. Come, all who carry burdens and long for healing. We come, trusting in God’s mercy. Come, all who are called to follow in faith. We come to worship the One who blesses and calls us into new life.

Seventh Sunday after Epiphany
Prayer of Confession
God of grace and truth, we confess that we do not always trust in your blessings. We chase after wealth and security, forgetting that true abundance comes from you. We avoid discomfort, ignoring the pain of others. We seek approval from the world instead of standing firm in your truth. Forgive us, O God. Turn our hearts toward what matters. Help us to trust in your promises and to walk in your ways. Amen.
Silent Confession
Words of Assurance
Blessed are those who turn to the Lord, for they will never be forsaken. God’s mercy is abundant, and God’s grace is sure. Amen.
*Gloria Hymnal #102, v. 3 alt.
All glory be to God, all praise and thanks be given; Whose Son and Spirit reign as one in highest Heaven; Our one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
To hear the word
11 am
Scripture Luke 6:17-26 (Common English Bible)
Jesus came down from the mountain with them and stood on a large area of level ground. A great company of his disciples and a huge crowd of people from all around Judea and Jerusalem and the area around Tyre and Sidon joined him there. They came to hear him and to be healed from their diseases, and those bothered by unclean spirits were healed. The whole crowd wanted to touch him, because power was going out from him and he was healing everyone. Jesus raised his eyes to his disciples and said: “Happy are you who are poor, because God’s kingdom is yours. Happy are you who hunger now, because you will be satisfied. Happy are you who weep now, because you will laugh. Happy are you when people hate you, reject you, insult you, and condemn your name as evil because of the Human One. Rejoice when that happens! Leap for joy because you have a great reward in heaven. Their ancestors did the same things to the prophets. But how terrible for you who are rich, because you have already received your comfort. How terrible for you who have plenty now, because you will be hungry. How terrible for you who laugh now, because you will mourn and weep. How terrible for you when all speak well of you. Their ancestors did the same things to the false prophets. The Word of God for the People of God. Thanks be to God.
Lord's Prayer
Our Father (or Our God), who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Sermon
Call to Prayer
While I’m down here praying, Lord, search my heart. While I’m down here sighing, Lord, search my heart. While I’m down here crying, Lord, search my heart. You know, Lord, all about me. Do Lord, search my heart. (African American spiritual, adapted by William Farley Smith, arr. Carl Johengen)
Pastoral Prayer
Anthem Sanctuary Choir
"Blessed Are You" — Mark Hayes; words based on Matthew 5:3-11 & Luke 6:20-23 Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who now weep, for you will laugh. Blessed are you who are meek, for you will inherit the earth. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. (Refrain:) Blessed are you, blessed are you, my children. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. Blessed are you who are merciful, for you will inherit the earth. Blessed are you who are pure in heart, for you will see God. Blessed are you who make peace, for you will be called the children of God. Blessed are you who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for yours is the kingdom of heaven. (Refrain) Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, and when they revile you, and when they defame you on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven. (Refrain)
Children's Time
Children of all ages are invited to join us in this special moment.
*Doxology Hymnal #95
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above, ye heavenly host; Praise God, and Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
*Prayer of Dedication
God of abundance, you call us to live in the generosity of your kingdom. May these gifts be a blessing to those in need, a sign of hope to the weary, and a witness to your justice in the world. As we offer them, shape our hearts to reflect your love, that we may live as your faithful disciples. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
